Zen Extra "Unknown error, attempt unsuccessf

I'm getting script errors when i try to contact tech support so Im hoping someone in the forum can help.
I have been transfering files to my Nomad Zen extra via Nomad Explorer for some time now without any problems. However, ever since I defragmented and cleaned my hard dri've, everytime I try to cut and paste my files to the Nomad, it says an unknown error has occurred and the attempt is unsuccessful. I have tried uninstalling the driver and explorer several times, ran for viruses, and reset my settings and nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any idea as to why this happened?

Tried a disk cleanup? To run a Disk Cleanup you need to access the Rescue Mode. To access the Rescue Mode hold down the play button and KEEP it held down, press the tiny reset switch once, and KEEP the play button held down until the player boots into the Rescue Mode. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu. Note: Disk cleanup should not remove your tracks. It searches through the disk for files and rebuilds the index, and can be useful for correcting any strange behaviour.

This is so frustrating....please help!? I have already reformatted, disk cleanup, reset and still nothing. When I'm trying to add new music to my Creative Zen 8gb I get the both error messages : "unknown error" when using the Media Zen 'browse media' option and when using the Windows Explorer drag and drop selection "access denied". Please help I've tried almost everything and it won't copy any music not even pictures.

What operating system do you have? Win Xp (sp2) (sp3) or Vista?
Note: I can only help you on Win Xp (Sp2)
    Try this:
. Go into the "Recovery Mode" on the Zen disconnected from the PC and clean-up & reboot.
Check to see if this fixed your problem?
    Next
. Connect your Zen to the PC
    2. Select "Organize media files in this device using Creative Media Explorer"
    3. You should have a "docked screen" ?
    4. Under Windows, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager then look under Portable Device then
look for Blue (Yellow is bad) Creative Zen then check to see if the device is ok.
Do this for error code (0)

Do this for error code (9)
    http://technet2.microsoft.com/window....mspx?mfr=true
    Check back
BTW - I hope you are adding music to the right folder e.g. Creative Zen (My Zen) Media Library / Music

  • Zen Extra 60GB - errors and questi

I recently purchased the Zen Jukebox Extra after running out of room on my iRi'ver 20GB. I loved the iRi'ver, but needed more storage. I notcied that on several ocassions after not using the Zen for a few days, I would power it up and it would go to the "rebuilding music library screen". After that, much of the music I had loaded onto the player wasn't showing up. I re-transferred the music, the songs showed up, but there was much less hard disc space than there should have been. I finally did a reset, and in some cases there were three copies of songs. I went through and manually deleted the duplicates through the organizer, but the player still ocassionally goes through the ""rebuilding" stage when I power it up.
My other concern is, can I use any other software to create playlists? I loved being able to create a playlist in WinAmp for the iRi'ver, but I don't seem to be able to do it with the Zen. I want to be able to add songs to the playlist, randomize them and then save it. I don't see any way to do this witth thye Zen. I have to manually move the songs around. If I can't solve these concerns, I will probably sell the Zen, bite the bullet and buy an iPod 60. Thanks in advance for any ti
    ps.

tried the realplayer today and worked great. you can make a smart playlist transfer it then change the playlist on the pc and retransfer it.

  • TS3274 unknown error 3 while attempting iPad restore

Hello people, I am tired of attempting restore my iPad 32 GB retina (4G) version. Everything goes nice until the last stage of restoration process and when i expect finally to see welcome screen I get message saying unknown error happened while restoring iPad (3) (something like this but not exact same). I tried few times with different ipsw files downloaded (6.0, 7.0, 7.04) but all ended up at the same stage. I also tried with my macbook and pc as well. Can anybody help me with this issue please.

Thanks for Reply, but it is weired to get such an error after about 20 minute of restoration process...anyway I assume it could be the error with flash memory (bad sectors) or maybe something else but the log indicates multiple errors which i really cannot understand fully.

  • The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred (-50)

    Hey Guys,
Got the error message "The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred (-50) in iTunes.
I'm just trying to burn a few audio CDs.
Running most current verison of Mavericks, all software up to date.
I've tried changing the burning speeds from Maximum Possible, to 12x, 8x, 4x. Still get the error.
I've tried 3 brands of CD-Rs get the error on all 3.
    Any suggestions?
    Thx
    CD

Error -50 is a very unhelpful generic communications error with a number of possible causes.  Something between the drive to which you are downloading and the drive from which it is all coming is not working correctly, which probably leaves several hundred options.
Have you tried simply restarting the computer?

  • The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred (4310).

I have been able to burn CDs from music I bought off iTunes. I haven't had any problems until now.
I just purchased Mike Doughty's Haughty Melodic, the whole album. Everytime it gets almost done burning, it gives this error:
"The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred (4310)."
I have wasted 3 blank CDs trying to burn this. I have a lot of experience with computers, I know there is nothing wrong with my hardware.
Is this is a problem with one of the files? Is there some kind of sub-routine that iTunes runs when trying to burn a CD? I have no idea why this is happening.
    Anyone have some advice?
    Thanks

  • The attempt to burn a disc failed, unknown error (261). Can't back up to CD

The attempt to burn a disc failed, unknown error (261). I get this message every time I try to back up my music from itunes on to a CD. It doesn't matter if I try to back up all music or only music purchased from itunes. So far I have not been able to back up anything. Can someone please help me!!!! I have tried everything on the support website from apple, and nothing has worked. I am beginning to get very frustrated.
    Thanks

+I know my computer is up to date on firmware, because I just bought this laptop 4 months ago - it's a brand new Dell Inspiron 1721.+
Actually, in that case I definitely think you should check your firmware. I just had a look at the 32-bit Vista downloads page at Dell for your Inspiron 1721, and there's firmware updates listed there for four different drive models, all dated within the last four months.
Head to the following Dell page and enter your model information to get to your Downloads page:

I had the same problem so (assuming under the Purchased items in the Store you have a song stuck at 'Downloading'):
I went to Music, then Artists.
From there I chose the album.
The song that failed to download had the cloud symbol next to it.
I clicked the cloud symbol and the song completed the download for me.
(Please note this was in iTunes for Windows - I expect it to be similar in iTunes for Apple)

  • Zen V not recognized and unknown error transf

    Hello,
This is my third Zen during the past two years, and none of them seem to work for at least one week. I bought a Zen V 4GB and have had it for two days and it is already not functioning correctly. I noticed that my songs would be transferred, but everytime I tried to transfer pictures, they just wouldn't. The reason it would give was "unknown error". I decided to download every update I could find for the Zen V (firmware, media source, etc), but the updates wouldn't finish installing correctly (the Zen would freeze after reboot, etc). I had to format the Zen and then install everything all over again, after that, the updates managed to install correctly. Afterwards, I successfully transferred pictures. I turned off the Zen, and when I later tried to transfer music, the unknown error message would appear again, and also other error messages such as "insufficient disk space", which was impossible because I had only transferred 68 pictures. I formated the Zen V once again, and gave it a "reload firmware". I managed to transfer some pictures and music afterwards, but, as soon as I disconnected the player, and connected it again to transfer more stuff, the error messages appeared again. As my patience was wearing thinner by the second, I disconnected the player, and connected it again. Now, the computer doesn't recognize it at all. The Zen V appears to be docked, though it sometimes appear as if it were charging and sometimes it doesn't, but still the computer doesn't recognize it. It says that the player isn't connected. I did notice that on my taskbar, the icon of "Safely Remove Hardware" began to appear. I double clicked it, thinking that the computer was recognizing the?player as a mass storage device, but there were no devices or components displayed on the window.
I really don't know what to do anymore, and I'm tired of having to format it, just so that it'll work correctly once. I don't know if I'm not doing something right, or whatever it is. I just feel very dissapointed. These problems were very similar to?the ones my other Zens (I had?a Zen Micro and Zen MicroPhoto before). Creative just keeps coming up with great innovati've products, but the same problems appear in?every one of them, what's up with that?I really need help with this... Any suggestions? Thank you.

I am having the same problems!
!!! Now my Zen will not turn on. How is a 2 child supposed to use this if her mom can't? I am not the only one experiences problems, my daughters friend also got one and her dad took it back to the store 2 times before he got one that actually worked. I have called customer service and after spending over an hour on the long distance phone call they were unable to help me and I eventually figured it out myself only to have it tell me the device was not connected IN THE MIDDLE OF DOWNLOADING!!

  • The attempt to burn a disk failed. An unknown error occurred (4000).

Whenever I try to burn a CD from iTunes, the burning process starts and continues for about two minutes, cancels automatically and then displays the following statement: "The attempt to burn a disk failed. An unknown error occurred (4000)."
Several Apple technicians have tried but been unable to assist me. They have pointed me to articles at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93360 and http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93286 but none of the suggested solutions solve the problem.
    1. I have the most recent version of iTunes (6.0.1).
    2. All of the songs that I am trying to burn are authorized. For example, they include the Complete U2 Collection, which I recently downloaded from the iTunes Music Store.
    3. I am not trying to burn a CD with the same Playlist more than seven times.
    4. My CD burner works perfectly fine using other CD burning software, such as Windows Media Player or Roxio Easy Media Creator. However, these programs are not compatible with any of the many pieces of music that I have purchased and downloaded from the iTunes Music Store.
My hardware configuration is as follows:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
    HP Pavilion 061 PJ467AA-ABA M1180N
    iTunes 6.0.1.3
    CD Driver 2.0.4.3
    CD Driver DLL 2.0.3.2
    LowerFilters: PxHelp20 (2.0.0.0), drvmcdb (1.0.0.1), Iviaspi (1.0.0.0), Pfc (2.5.0.204), Cdr4_xp (7.5.0.47),

    Video Driver: RADEON X300 Series\RADEON X300 Series
    Found aspi32 running.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can restore my ability to burn CDs from iTunes? Thank you very much!

I am having the same problem. I get an error 4450 - unknown. I have purchased several songs but it appears I will not be able to burn them to CD.
