Zen jukebox Xtra hard case/cassette adapt

Hi there-
I just got my Zen jukebox Xtra and I'm really enjoying it so far.
There are two things I'd really like. A hard case to protect it and a cassette adapter, so I can use it in the car. When I looked for accessories here at the Creative site, all I saw was an adapter for the larger model. Can that be used for my version?
Also, does anyone have a hard case and what brand/where did you get it's
Thanks so much for the help!

I'm about 75% sure the casette adapter at the creative store will work with the Zen Xtra... if not, any other brand will work as long as you can plug it into the headphone jack. I use the one that came with my old Sony Walkman, and it works flawless.
As for a hard case, I found the case that came with the Xtra to be hard enough for my needs. This is the one that came with my Xtra.
There aren't many other cases out there for the Xtra. Vaja cases makes one, but it will cost you around $60.

  • Programs for putting music on Zen Jukebox Xtra 3

I'm going to be getting a Zen Jukebox Xtra 30GB for Christmas. I have already put all of my music on my computer using Itunes. Will I be able to put my music on the Zen Xtra using ITunes or will I have to put everything back on my PC using the software that comes with the Zen Xtra?

    Poor Soul...
You will not be able to load any music to your creative device using Itunes. Your music can not even be in a Itunes nati've format (that is an issue that apple has caused by not licensing their format to others).
Unless there has been a change, your device will come with the "regular" firmware and you'll have to use creatives own software. If you want to use Windows Media Player to manage your device, you will have to update your devices firmware with the MTP compatible firmware. ::CAUTION - MANY PEOPLE HAVE LOST ALL USE OF THERE PLAYERS DOING THIS:: I happen to be a success story for the MTP firmware. I love it!!! For me, it was worth the chance.
If you decide to update your firmware, make sure you visit the windows update site and get every single update they have. Matter of fact, many updates won't even show until you have installed a previous update. So just keep going back until the site tells you MORE THAN ONCE that your OS is current. Just guessing, but I wonder if this is why so many peoples firmware updates went south.
I've had my 30gig Xtra for over a year and I am still madly in love with it. The new firmware made me fall more deeply.
    Hope that helps!

  • *searching for nomad zen jukebox xtra 40gb

[sorry if this has been posted before,,,?I got tired of searching]?Well. I've had this player for over a year so it's basically an ancient artifact. But. Last month sometime it went into a coma. I don't know why but it went into a "rescue mode" screen with the 4 options (clean up, format, reboot, reload OS). I tried cleaning up and rebooting and then I reloaded the OS. I figured, "Ok no problem, I'll just go on the Creative site and download it again and everything will be fine."?WRONG. I don't want to "Format All" because i'll lose everything and who knows if the OS will be on there? So since i can't find the OS here, anyone know where?I can find it'sMessage Edited by shamille on 02-03-200706:28 PM

i'd like to say yes... well that didn't work. I tried it on 2 different computers and it didn't work. I tried both of them. basically what happens is that when it gets to the point where your player restarts... mine doesn't. I restart it manually and then it says that the setup is complete... but this doesn't work. remember mine has all that jukebox xtra stuff in its name... :robotsad:?sorry for replying sooo much later.

  • Zen Jukebox Xtra 40 gig - out of space error messa

I have 2000 tunes on my Zen and I'm trying to get them in a music file on my notebook. AT song 500 or so I get an error that there is no room left to continue. I have gigs of space left? Using the old Mediasource. Mediasource 5.0 doesn't work with this MP3 player. Never had issues before. Anyone hear about it not allowing you to get all your tunes onto a hard dri've?

Well, after reading the "headphone jack?" thread below, I think that's probably my problem, like so many other people. It seems like I was sold a defecti've product. And now I'm out of the warranty period. So that means, short of organizing a class action, there's nothing I can do, other than foot the bill for fixing a problem created by the company that sold me this product. There's something not right about that. Wish I could say I'm surprised. Goodbye, Creative.

  • Nomad Zen Jukebox dead battery - where to get fixed in Phoen

I have had a Nomad Zen Jukebox for several years. Sadly, after I got another player, I let this one sit for several months and now the Li-ion battery is dead. It's one of those 3.6 v batteries soldered onto the mainboard.
I li've in Phoenix. Anyone know where I can get the battery replaced locally? How about mail-in service?
    Thanks for any assistance.

You should be aware that there are signifficant changes with upgrading ( or more apropiatly) changing your firmware version from one starting with a point somehting to a two point somehting firmware, and i would only advise you do it if you realy need to ( ie you need it to work on a windows Vista P.C)
there is a .30.somehting firmware for that player somewhere ( i think) that shouldnt be such a huge change.
goign to a 2.something firmware will:
make the Zen Xtra an MTP device that you can drag n drop stuff to, and it will also help intergrate it with other programmes such as widnows media player on p.cs that dont have the drivers ( i think)?
during the update process ( if it doesnt brick your Zen) everything on you hard dik will be completly wiped, all mucis, playlists and anny other files that you have stored on your player.
?As? with all firmware updates you should make sure that the battery is fully charged and the player is conected to the mains charger.
Updating toa ver2.something firmware is only possible on a windopws XP machine, and that XP P.C must be checked to make sure its is free from windows media player and windows media player runtim, you need to go to the control panel and select remove? on WMP then roll it back to windows media player 0, re-boot your XP p.c, then go back to add/remove programmes, remove Windows media player runtime ( roll back to windows media player ) re-boot your p.c then with a bit of luck the firmware will uipdate to the latest version.
In my opinion unless you realy want the Zen to act as an MTP device, and work on windows vista, theres not much to differentiate between the last ver firmware and the last ver2 firmware, read t6he link below ( if it still woks) and you should get an idea of the hassle i had when trying, then failing ( and eventualy suceeding) in updating the firmware on my Zen Xtra.

  • Zen jukebox keeps restarting itself, not sure

Ive had my zen jukebox for about a year now and I have had no problems to date. However, now it is occasionally restarting itself a few seconds after it starts playing. It does this maybe once or twice and then it will stay on. What could be the problem? I updated the firmeare and defragged it thinking it might be becasue I put a **bleep**load of music on at once but it still happens. Could there be a button combination that I keep hitting by accident that restarts the player? Kind of off topic, but is there a way to convert AC3 audio(realplayer files) so they can be put on my player? Thanks in advance.
    Matt

Did you try starting your player on ac supply( charger ) ?Remove the battery and try using the charger to power the player's operations. Two cases are possible-
. PROBLEM REMAINS - hardware issue. I don't know if we could rectify the fault in player's hardware. The fault may lie with the restart switch or something else.
    2. PROBLEM DISAPPERS- If the 'restart' problem disappears, then we know for sure that the battery is the culprit. Replace the battery and check?if it'sfits the slot properly.
?? Finally, if the battery fails to budge, you?may consider buying a new one. You may even try out a cellphone battery( rating- 3.6 V, minimum 00 mAH, which is an industry standard?). Try the following radioshack link if you want to buy a?genuine zen xtra?one. I'm quite sure they must be taking adequate care in safely transporting it.
    http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search?
?p.s.- even after running so many tests, there's no guarantee that the battery?may be at fault. This being the case,?the new battery would be no good. So i would recommend showing the player to an electronics store and get an opinion before you make a move. ?
    Good Luck..

  • Which cassette adapter to buy?

I am planning on buying a 5th Generation IPod Nano. I am not sure which cassette adapter to buy to connect it to the combination CD/Cassette player in my car. I want to play the MP3 player in my car. I heard not to use a FM transmitter because of poor radio reception in my area. I also heard there are no adapters that connect to a CD, only to a cassette. That leaves a cassette as the only way to play my IPod Nano MP3 player in my car. My car is a 1999 Honda Civic, so it is not new and does not have up to date equipment. Which cassette adapter and model number is best for me, sounds good, is not hard to install, and is under $100?

Thanks for the reply. The Monster cassette adapter Model Al Cas - Adpt S you sent me the link for looks pretty good and is only $19.95. I looked at the Monster website (monstercable.com) and they also have another model cassette adapter called the ICAR Play Cassette 800 model AL 800 for $24.95. Do you think this model - the AL 800 - is better for me than the first model - the Adpts S?

  • Zen Jukebox won't cha

    Hi
Got a bit of a conundrum and was hoping someone could help. I've got an old Zen Jukebox (the USB and FireWire one - yeah I know, very old skool), which was working perfectly up to a couple of months ago. It stopped charging itself if connected to the mains. It's not the charger, as I've tried both the one that came with and the one on my Playdock.
So I'm stuck charging by USB. No biggie, though I notice you have to turn it off (rather than just letting it run out of juice) for the charge symbol to appear. However, last night I was copying some music to it and it ran out of juice. It turn it back on to try to shut it down so it will charge, and it tries to rebuild the library, but runs out of juice half way through. No charging symbol. I leave it for a few hours for the battery to 'recover a bit', but it still can't make it through the rebuild. I try loading the rescue menu and shutting down from there. No charge symbol.
So I'm stuck in a Catch 22. I need more charge in the battery to get it through the rebuild - and I need to rebuild the library to get it to charge.
Any suggestions on how to get this going again will be gratefully received.
    Neil

If the battery was flat when it was left it could well have left the battery in a state where it (a) has too low a voltage to be detected by the adapter or (b) is now broken.
See the advice here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net, but beware "force charging", it can cause a battery to catch fire or explode in rare circumstances so do at your OWN RISK.

  • I believe 3GS stereo jack damaged vehicle when used with cassette adapter

I believe the 3GS damaged my automobile stereo through some sort of short in the headphone jack that is related to voice control. I've noticed other threads about headphones and voice control causing strange behaviors on the iPhone 3GS. I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed a problem with a cassette adapter as well. Here is my experience. First, I've owned both a 2G and a 3G prior to my 3GS. That is over 2 years experience with the iPhone platform prior to the issue. During that time I've used the same cassette adapter to output iTunes music to my car stereo system (same vehicle with original stereo during entire time as well…) - which is the OEM stereo that GM installs, as I own a 2K4 Chevy Silverado pickup truck. I’ve had zero issues with the 2G and 3G. Then, the first morning I go out to the truck with the 3GS and plug it in, there is a pop that comes out of the speakers, voice control comes on, then the phone locks up and has to be hard reset. I later notice that one of the backlight bulbs in the stereo is now blown (darkening half the display) and the vehicle speedometer is malfunctioning. The speedo issue might seem surprising, but given how GM wires everything back the stereo system for Onstar monitoring, while I don't know for sure, I assume the stereo received some sort of short from the 3GS and then passed that along to the electronics which control the instruments. The analog GM instrument cluster displays (such as speed) are all managed by electronics that drive small servos that actually move the needles.
Anyhow, again, I feel it was the 3GS that caused this damage - as I'd been using other iPhone products for 2+ years and had no prior problems. Immediately after pluggin the 3GS in the first time the problem occurred. I think the voice control activating intermittently is a symptom of the problem. 8-9 times out of 10, when I plug the cassette adapter into the 3GS, voice control automatically starts, yet not all of the time. I am still using the same cassette adapter, but now plug it into the iPhone before it is inserted into stereo. While I’ve had no other issues with my stereo or instruments, I’m also very careful about not plugging the cassette adapter into the iPhone while the adapter is in the cassette player. I will also note that I'm on 2nd 3GS phone after an exchange for an unrelated issue and the new phone still intermittently activates voice control when the cassette adapter is plugged in. The issue also occurs with a 2nd cassette adapter (of different manufacture) which I use with a stereo in my home. In my mind, there something definitely wrong with the headphone jack on the 3GS and I believe it damaged my vehicle. Is anyone else seeing this issue?
    -Calvin

You can try another cassette adapter or try another audio device with the same cassette adapter

  • Any USB device, compliant with USB mass storage protocol ! Does the zen jukebox nx quali

I am about to buy an otg sharing device to transfer files between two usb devices without the need for a pc. My question is does a jukebox nx qualify ? or what is it's pen dri'ves etc? ipods?

I don't think a Zen Jukebox NX would qualify; most larger Creative players require a separate driver. Pen dri'ves, most USB hard dri'ves, and MP3 players with dri've-letter capability (including nearly all MuVos plus the Zen Nano, Nano Plus, and Neeon) would certainly work; so would "removable disk" mode on the Micro, MicroPhoto, Sleek, and Zen 20GB.
I'm not sure if an iPod would work; it depends on whether its dri've-letter capability is built directly into the firmware (OK), or just exposed by the iPod drivers (no go). I don't own an iPod, so I'm not sure.

You can try editing the registry but be sure to do a backup of the registry first in case something went wrong.
. Go to Start-Run and type in 'regedit' to start the registry editor application.
    2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\U SB.
    3. Open up all those with Vid********. You should be able to see the device description name. Delete all those listings that are listed as unknown or contain Creative related device name.
    4. Exit registry editor and try using the installation CD again.

  • Is there a cassette adapter with a headjack as big as the headjack on the apple headphone?

is there a cassette adapter with a headjack as big as the headjack on the apple headphone?

That is not what I mean, I understand that all cassette adapters can be plugged into iphone. but my case right now limits the size of whats connected to the headjack itself. For example, I can plug in my headphones no problem because the white part above the headjack is just slightly wider than the headjack itself, and my case allows it to fit, but the cassette adapter in my car right now has a 3.5mm headjack, but the thing above it is so much wider than the headjack, and my case is preventing the headjack being fully inserted into my iphone. Therefore I need a casette adapter that has a similar, if not the same dimension as the whole headjack of the apple headphones.

  • ZEN Nomad Xtra 3

Before I begin with my new to me year old Zen Nomag xtra Jukebox I have a couple questions. Will the player automatically update after the software is installed if there is a newer version available? I think the software provided is a year old but am not sure. How do I find that out? thanks

I would have to say mainly firmware if you want to, it's not a need.... The newest firmware makes the device completely MTP compatible which is helpful and nice since many things like the Xbox 360 and Windows XP don't have any other driver.
