Zen M Transfer Prob

I can no longer transfer music onto my player. I formatted and reloaded firmware as well as all software last week when the player locked up. I was then able to transfer 0 albums, but since that point I can no longer transfer.
I've tried using the Media Explorer as well as drag-and-drop, but no luck.
Any ideas/suggestions.

I've just had this exact problem. One minute there was a radio option, the next it had vanished.
I have tried updating firmware on my ZVM fro .3x to the latest, checking that it isn't hidden, restarting, formatting you name it I've tried it. Been through this forum god knows how many times looking for something that will help.
I contacted Customer Services, got that automated email which was of little to no help and responded to them asking for further help. A few days on I am still waiting for any further advice.
If anyone here has anything that may help please suggest it as nothing so far has done it and the official line seems to be silence.
Its annoying that this has happened after 6 months of solid service. Weird thing is that everything else works still tho.

Hi, I'm running win2k usb2.0. I'm only able to transfer about 7 mp3 files before nomad tells me that an unknown failure occurred. The zen touch then stays in docking modus and I have to reboot it. Can someone tell me why that is?

Could be a lot of reasons. Have?a look here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.

  • Creative zen micro transfer prob

When using Napster to transfer songs to my zen micro mp3 player the following happens.
License storgae is not working.Contact microsoft product support.
When I hit click here for more information nothing happens.
It has worked previously without any problems! Can anybody help??

Here is a list of things to check:
) Confirm you have Windows Media Player 0 installed on your XP SP or later system.
    2) Confirm your Zen Micro has the latest 2.x firmware (2..02 Beta or later). The .x firmware does not support N2G. Download the 2..02 Beta firmware from http://us.creative.com/support/downloads
    3) Confirm KB8922 "Update for Windows Media Digital Rights Management-enabled players" is installed on your XP SP or later system with WMP 0. See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;8922 for details.
    4) Confirm your Zen Micro's system time is synched to the system time of your computer.
    5) Confirm XP and the Napster client recognize your Zen Micro is connected. It should display under the "Portable Device" object in the "Library" window of the Napster client. The Zen Micro Display should read "Docked". See if you can transfer files using WMP 0. Confirm the Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer version .00. ( http://us.creative.com/support/downloads ) can access your Zen Micro. Can it transfer tracks to the device?
    6) Confirm your firewall is not interfering with the connection to Napster or to the internet for current date and time. Consider disabling firewall, Antivirus, and Spyware Scanners as a diagnostic step to troubleshoot your transfer issue.
    7) Consider reinstalling Windows Media Player 0 and KB8922.
    8) Check the USB cable connection. Determine the USB chipset on your system. There are forum threads where users resolved transfer problems by installing a new USB Adapter with a different chipset or determined the problem was the USB cable. You can also troubleshoot by attempting the transfer on another computer (if available).

  • Zen V+ Transfer Prob

I'm using Yahoo Music Jukebox to transfer music to my zen and it was working fine but about a week ago it start to become a bit funky. Whenever I'd transfer music it would be fine but when I disconnected my player the new music would not show up. When I reconnect the player the added music has this weird file name that says: StorageMedia and then the song and artist name. What is going on? This is just randomly started happening and its getting a bit frustrating because I can't add any new music. Help! Suggestions?

Although my Zen is manufactured in China also, let me tell you a story.
Something like that happened to me with an iPod Nano (I know it's not a Creative player, but read on) when I tried to update its firmware. I bought it from eBay ... and since you have to "register" iPods with Apple before you can d/l upgrades, I typed in my serial number ... only to be told that it was not an authentic iPod. I had always thought it was odd that the menu on my Nano looked different than the photos on Apple's site, but thought it would change after the upgrade. I have an acquaintance who bought a bunch of PC memory boards in China and sells them on eBay ... as the real thing ... but they're really imitation rip-offs ... but the outside looks exactly like the real thing ... including somewhat legit looking serial numbers. There's a city in China where you can buy these clones of almost everything electronic.
Did you buy your zen from a store ... or from eBay? I'm not saying that you have one of these "fake" copies, but the way yours is acting ... well... Of course, I don't know how you determine if it's a REAL or FAKE zen since Creative doesn't force us to register our players.

  • Zen Nano Plus transfer prob

Am having trouble transferring .wma files to my Zen Nano Plus even though it has 590MB free. When I try to transfer anything using Creative Source I keep getting a "transfer error" message. Have tried reorganising files into folders to cut down on memory used in the root folder - but it doesn't seem to help. It's even stopped letting me transfer between folders. Has anyone else had this problem.. Anyone know what to do??

I'm having the exact same problem with my Nano Plus, and I've only had it for a little over 3 months. I contacted technical support and they told me to download the Firmware update and gave me these directions:
    Zen Nano Plus Firmware Update:
    http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/download2.asp?Product=2720&dlcentric=9423&Product_ Name=ZEN+Nano+Plus&OSName=Windows+XP
To install this firmware upgrade, do the following:
    - Connect your player to your computer.
    - Double-click the firmware upgrade file.
    - When prompted to set your player in Recovery mode, disconnect your player from your computer.
    - Press and hold the Play button while connecting your player to your computer's USB port.
    - Continue to hold the Play button for about 0 seconds after connecting your player to your computer.
    - Release the Play button when the "Find New Hardware" dialog box appears on the computer screen.
    - Follow the instructions on the screen to install recovery drivers for your player.
    - Double-click the firmware upgrade file and follow the instructions on the screen. Ensure to select the "Format Data Area" option within the Update.
However, at step 6 my computer did not recognize my player with it being on and neither did the Firmware. I responded to Technical Support and told them this. They said it seemed like it needed repaired or replaced! Even though there is a -year warranty, there is only a 3 month labor warranty, which means if you send it in to get fixed and it has passed the 3-month labor warranty, you have to pay a $24.95 diagnostics and handling fee. If you're in this situation, they said the best thing to do is try to exchange it wherever you bought it first. I hope this helps!

  • Zen MicroPhoto connection problem/file transfer prob

My wife had a Zen MicroPhoto player that she used for audiobooks. About a month ago it started having "no device found" problems with the Media Explorer. She bought a new player, and it's no better. The Media Explorer will not install. I tried installing it separately, and the installation hangs, because it cannot find the player. She is using the Organizer now to transfer files, but she much prefers the Explorer. Many of the audiobook discs have the same file names (e.g., Track , Track 2, Track 3,....,etc.). When that happens, with the second and subsequent disks, she gets a message asking whether to replace or skip the duplicate files; the file names are the same, but the disks have different album names. Is there a workaround for this?

I thought Creative's customer support was bad, but this "discussion forum" sucks big time -- not a single reply. Thanks....

  • Zen Nano book transfer prob

I am having problems transferring my downloaded library books. They won't go from my Creative Organizer on to my Zen Nano. I am getting an error message when I start the transfer. Can this be a problem with my Nano Plus or with the computer software I feel confident that it downloaded to my computer without a problem, because I can play the books on the computer. Have I used up my Nano & need to replace it's Can I reload anything that could help ?

Your message is blank tictocs, but I recomend you right click the icon (media source blue arrow icon, windows media player red, yellow, green, blue arrow circle) and select "send to" from the drop down, then the Nano from that drop down.

  • Zen Micro. Song transfer prob

Okay this happened to me twice first time I thought it was a fluke but since its happened twice I thought I'd report it / see if anyone else has seen it.
My micro is pretty full. I have a couple very big audio book files like 400 meg each.
After I finish a track I delete it an put on the next track. When doing the transfer it looks like everything worked fine. But when I go to listen to my new audio book it seems like it never transfered the new file over. It puts me at a random place in some music or the previous book I deleted. The track is around 7 hours long and if I move around the track it sometimes switches to other stuff I deleted.
So it appears it reserved a spot on the disk for my new track but it never wrote over the old stuff.
    version .0.03
    Troy

Well I did have about 600 meg free and the book was 450 meg or so. So I had plenty of disk space. When I got home I deleted the "new" track and reloaded it...
No problem this time. It just seems weird this would happen and not give me any errors.
As far as updating goes I hate windows media player and will not ever use it. It seems like all of the updates either force you to use windows media player or the just change some of the graphics on the screen. Am I missing something?

  • Zen Micro - transfer lock ups with latest firmwa

I've been trying to transfer mp3 files to my firmware upgraded Zen Micro and find that the transfer slows down and then locks the player after 30-40 files have successfully copied. This happens with ..0 and 2.2.02 firmwares.
The player will then remain in a 'acti've' docked state (black arrows) until the battery is removed. After this lock up tags on the mp3 files are messed up and display Chinese looking characters in the Details View.
This happens on two different computers with USB2.0, one Intel based and the other AMD.
Two questions - anyone know if this is a known issue being worked on for an imminent firmware update? And secondly - is the problem aggravated (or even created) because I am trying to copy files over from a directory tree (mp3's sorted into artist/album/ folders) rather than one flat folder with all mp3s in it (ie. in one single folder).

I'd try transferring fewer files at a time and see if that works.
You might be on to something with copying from a directory tree too. See if transferring the files in smaller groups from one folder helps out.
You can always organize the artists/albums later in Zen Micro Media Explorer or Creative MediaSource.

  • Zen Touch transfer er

I finally was able to get my computer to recognize my zen player but now i cant transfer more than 27-00 songs depending which one i start at. i called customer service and they told me to download all the new updates and stuff and installed them and try again and it still doesn't work. i tried to do the disk clean-up an reformatted it like they said too but i still cant get the songs to transfer over. It does the first few than says error: cannot write or something along those lines and waits 20 seconds then moves to the next which does the same. i also just got the player if that makes a difference. Any advice?

Thanks, that really helped. i have thus far concluded that it was the fact that i dont have ID3 tags on all my songs and some of the song names have symbols in them like japanese/chinese character and the alt+number pad ones too. i guess they arent supported on the touch like the ipod. which makes it kind of a pain to use because now i have to go through 7 gigs of music and change the song titles and tags. fortunately i have help. also, would having a usb 2.0 really make a difference other than transfer speed on the download to player? thanks again

  • Zen Extra harddisk prob

My Zen Extra will only go into rescue mode when turned on. If I then proceed to try a "Format All" or a "Reload OS" it says I have a harddisk problem. I have tried to "Clean Up" but it doesnt do anything, it just sits there in recovery mode. I have tried to reload my firmware, but with no result, as it takes longer than the life of the battery to load (it sits there with one bar filled, and doesnt change for hours) and It refuses to let me try it while plugged into the charger.
    What should I do?

alright i just tried the newest version of the firmware for the umpteenth time and SURPRISE! it works. i dont have to reinstall it everytime the silly thing fails a transfer, but it still fails transfers after a few files. any ideas?

  • Zen 4g transfer / sync problems...

My Zen 4g (daughter's) will not allow transfer of mp3 files from WMP . I get error saying that the internal clock on the portable device cant be set. The files are from Napster, therefore requiring the use of the clock for DRM purposes. The player has the latest firmware and I am using the latest version of Napster also. My OS is Vista 32 bit. I have already tried changing the privacy and security settings to set the clock both manually and automatically. This error didn't start until recently, I dont know of any upgrades that have been installed, etc.... Is there a setting that I am overlooking? I also have a Zen M Vision 30g that has started having the same issues, but not with all files, just a few. Thanks in advance

I have the latest stand-alone version of napster software so should i need a plug-in? Also the tracks that wont transfer are not all old tracks, some are some that i just downloaded a couple weeks ago ?You can try out transferring one file at a time and see if it hel

  • Zen Xtra transfer probl

Hi, for some reason, when I transfer songs to my player, some songs won't transfer (About 00 out of 4000. I have tried all the different transfer programs; Winamp, MediaSource, WMP0 and WMP, and it is always the same songs that won't transfer across to my player. WMP reports it as an I/O error, and all the other software either freezes or skips it after 5 mins of trying.
Any ideas how to fix this?
    Thanks

  • Creative Zen V Plus Prob

Hello guys, I have a problem which I have no idea how to resolve.
Usually when I rip CD's from Windows Media Player I copy and paste it into my players?library and the album art shows on my Zen V Plus when I play a song from that particular album. However recently, when I try to copy and paste an album?I get the message:
Pictures transferred to this folder cannot be viewed on your player.
Do you want to transfer 'AlbumArtSmall.jpg" to the pictures folder for proper viewing on your player?
I have no idea why this has happened. I have tried changing settings but nothing is working. Can anyone tell me whats wrong and how I can resolve this?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi Rich,?Just for your information, have tried loading firmware - and it has had no effect. Basically, the Zen V Plus has a fault - which Creative seem unwilling to recognise. In my case, as I bought in the UK from Amazon I am legally entitled to a full refund under our Return of Goods Act. It seems that in the States they don't have such a recourse to law - which frankly astounds me. Goods should not break down within such a short period from date of purchase!
