Zen Micro 1.11.01 battery dra

I recently bought a used "Zen Micro 5gb". The player came with ..0 version but it has a battery draining problem. I fully charge the player via usb. When i open it (some time after the battery is full), one bar of battery indicator has already gone and although i disable the EQ and Smart Volume functions i can listen to music for only 6 hours. i read in the forums that i should install the ..0 firmware. Why this version doesn't solve my problem. What should i do? Can 2.2.02 firmware help?

It might - but there is the possibilty that the battery is just wearing out and needs to be replaced

Why couldn't you? If you're having trouble installing SP2, you should get Microsoft to assist you.

  • Zen micro broken or just battery fail

    hi,
over the past couple of weeks I've been getting all of a sudden very poor battery life. It went down from maybe 9-0 hrs to 90 mins in a week. The player is 2.5 yrs old. I've been having a few problems lately such as crashes but nothing catastrauphic.
yesterday I found the player would not work, charge, or even work when connected to mains power. Is this a sign that my player is dead or is a new battery essential for function, even when connected to mains ? I'm guessing its dead...
    thanks.

Thank you! I do know someone with a Micro but she li'ves miles away - ho hum! I think I might fork out the 20 quid for a new battery and risk it.
Many thanks for your reassurance, much appreciated!

  • Zen Micro - Battery prob

Hi, i got a problem with the micro battery i charged the battery but only after 3 hours 2 battery lines have decreased, why the battery empty itself so fast? (sorry for my bad english)

Frost wrote:Hello, I've got a question for You. On the main page is written that Zen Micro has 2-hours Battery Life, but mine is low after 6 hours !!! I've made what was recommended about battery but nothing has changed, ( worksh longer....thats all !! ) Is it general in Zen Micro, or only my product is faulty ? I hope You write me soon.
    (Here I am!)
Frost: There's lots of information on this in the FAQ post. If you aren't getting the full life then something is different in your setup to the test specification, which is 28kbit/s CBR MP3s with no EQ, Smart Volume etc.

  • It's possible work with ZEN Micro 6Gb without battery

I would like to use the ZEN micro 6 Gb without battery, only plugged with the power adaptor ... it's possible?
    Thanks a lot

    Thanks <SPAN>Cat ,
I have a friend with ZEN 5 GB and tell me the same (like Muvo2) ... it's extrange because my generic power adapter charges the battery correctly, but when i remove the battery and try to work directly with the power adaptor don't work.
Please, I don't know if my problem it's my generic power adaptor ... anyboy have the ZEN Micro 6 Gb and can work with the player removing the battery and plugged it with the Creative ZEN Micro original power adaptor (not included with the product)?
    Thanks

  • Zen micro problem it just says creative all the t

i am the owner of a zen mirco and ever since it went dead and i charged it it just says the creative logo on it

go through the recovery mode of the Zen Micro. Take the battery out, hold the power button, while holding the power button put the battery back in and then recovery mode should pop up. Look it up in the support section if u still need help after that.

  • Microphoto and Zen Micro Char

I noticed that there is no specific microphoto power adapter available on the Creative website. Will the normal Zen mirco power adapted be safe to use with the Microphoto, or is there a specific one just for the photo that has yet to come out? I have the same question in terms of the zen micro vs. microphoto extra battery as well.

That's what I thought...so I bought a Micro Zen wall/car travel charger package for my MicroPhoto, and neither one works! In both cases the MicroPhoto battery would not get charged. I even tried a different USB cable to make sure that that is not the issue. I verified proper connection, i.e. the player lit up and the charging icon appeared in the top right corner, but the battery just wouldn't charge up and I left it alone for 2 hours! So either both, the car AND wall unit I purchased are broken (which seems unlikely to me) or there clearly is a difference between the required output of the Zen Micro vs. Zen MicroPhoto.

  • Zen Micro Limited Edition Availabil

Anyone know of a U.S. website where I can still get the Limited Edition Zen Micro? I want that extra battery!

I got 2 seperate Zen Micros with the extra battery from CompUSA. It seems like Creative alotted the same number of Micros to all their retailers ( Best Buy and Co.) but they aren't selling as quickly from CompUSA as fast. Call your local store and you can get an inventory of exactly which player/ how many they have and they can even hold one for you!

  • Zen micro, booting prob

I've got a problem with my zen micro
I listened to it a whole day, and my battery was very low, so when i came home, the zen wastn playing anymore due to the low battery.
i plugged it in on the usb cable, but all i see is the booting screen showing the creative logo with under that copyright 2004 Creatives Technology Ltd All Right Reserved.
I already tried to format(remove the battery, turn the switch to the left and insert the battery, the thing doesnt do anything) and installing some new firmware didnt workin, because I got the error message saying the player wasnt connected
does anyone know a solution to my problem?

If the Zen is not starting properly or not behaving correctly, first try to reset it. To reset all players except for the Zen Micro there is a small switch on the side of the player typically, that you should press using something like a bent paper clip. Don't use anything sharp. To reset the Zen Micro simply remove the battery and replace it.
If this doesn't work then access rescue mode, and try running a disk cleanup.
Next you should try reloading the firmware/OS, but beware if you are having connection problems also with your PC you may end up with a player that has no firmware and cannot be reloaded.
The last resort is to format the player. This will erase the contents from the player, including the content that ships with the player.
    The battery trick didnt work
rescue mode can't be accesed, so clean up and format arent possible
and the firmware reloader told me that the player wasnt connected to the computer, so that function didnt worked out
Guess i go to the shop where i bought it...

  • My computer won't recognize my Zen Micro....

Just recently, my computer stopped recognizing my Zen Micro. The battery icon on the screen shows that it's attempting to charge, although it takes forever (it took all weekend to give me just 2 bars) to do this. Windows Media Player tells me there are no devices connected, so I'm unable to add my new songs to my player. I know it's not my computer or USB port, because my girlfriends Ipod is working fine. At first I thought it might be my battery, so I bought a?new one and I'm still having the same problem.
If anyone can point me in the right direction to get this fixed, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

You may need a new battery? http://www.thegadgetdr.com/Zen-Micro...zm-battery.htm? & a wall charger? http://cgi.ebay.com/TRAVEL-AC-CHARGER-POWER-ADAPTER-FOR-CREATIVE-ZEN-MICRO_W0QQitemZ2037204785QQcmdZViewItemQQptZOther_ MP3_Player_Accessories?hash=item2037204785&_trksid =p3286.c0.m4&_trkparms=72%3A234|66%3A2|65%3A2|39%3 A|240%3A38|30%3A0|293%3A|294%3A50 ? & do a Cleanup > reboot on the player but you need a fully charged battery to do that. http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ap&thread.id=3

  • Pick up metal objects with zen micro headphones? battery life with firmware 1.02

    hey all
just purchased my zen micro couple days ago.
the package we got here in downunder is satifying. included were the wired remote and also the stand/case with belt clip. these were the only reasons that made me choose this over the ipod mini.
this has not occurred to me until tonight, but the headphones seems to act as magnets and were stuck to each other as the phones were dangling
i never noticed this happening with other phones
also the battery life of my zen was horrendous. its lasted 5 hrs with eq and smart volume on. the zen was on hold the whole time as the actions were controlled by the wired remote.
this was with the firmware that was shipped with the player .0.03 i believe
have just updated the firmware now, and will be testing the battery life to see if the problem is rectified.
if not, then an exhange for an ipod is inevitable.

Yep, SV is a battery killer, around a 50% drop in life has been meaured and the effect is known to be pretty negligible.
And as others have said, them headphones have magnets in, like pretty much any speaker

  • Saving Battery Power on Zen Micro(Origina

Well my original battery on my zen micro is giving my zen micro issues. Usually after about 5 minutes the battery begins to die and everything just freezes. So I've gotten a new battery everything is fine now. HOWEVER! My sister bought her Zen Micro the same time I bought mine but her battery is working fine as ever. Why is that? Isn't there a way to conserve my battery power? Aside from upgrading to the latest firmware? (NOTE: The last time I was on the Creative Boards, the firmware that gave the Zen Micro a 4 hr [around that] sleep mode). Usually, once my zen micro is done charging, it turns off by itself and I just leave it plugged it until the next time I use it. Does this affect the battery in any way? If so, would it be recommended that everytime I finish charging and using the zen micro that I take off the battery? I rarely use it, just when I go out so....yeah...respond back when you can, thanks.

Creative, it's been a few days now... I really would like to get this question answered please...
As the (red) announcement at the top of each board says, this forum is not for support, it is for user interaction. We reply to threads when we can, but it should not be expected, the forum is here so people can interact with eachother (share tips, help eachother, talk about products, and so on).
Could be your battery was failing, or if you left it without charging for long periods (stored). If you leave it charging but don't unplug it right away when it's charged it should be fine, but do you mean you're leaving it for days/weeks (plugged in) before you use it again?

  • Zen Micro's Battery flat after 14 hours of being turned of

Now I'm confused, I fully charged my Zen Micro twice and then turned it off, and overnight the battery is fully drained. This cant be right can it's
I know others have experience the rundown issue, but making it sooo flat that it wont even turn on?
Do you think I have a faulty Zen or Battery?

Check the system info on the player itself and check for the version of firmware you have. It will show up as v .XX.XX Anything older than v .0.03 needs to be updated. A lot of battery draining issues were resolved with this firmware update. Also some people have said that keeping the headphones unplugged keeps power from draining as quickly while the player is off because the amp stays powered up.
If the player drains significantly after these two things I'd contact Creative SUpport about a replacement

  • Zen Micro Battery Wont Cha

I recently bought a Zen Micro for a 2 week long vacation I was going on. I got it home and fully charged it like everyone says to do the first to you charge, and during the vacation i tried to charge it with my dad's laptop via the usb ports. I noticed once that it had one little line on the battry icon, so i plugged it in, and when i came back 4+ hours later, it hadnt charged at all, which mad me mad because the very first time I charged it it only took around 2-3 hours to fully charge it. What I am wonderin is if there couldve been some way I damaged the battery so it wont charge? If so what kind of warranty does this have? i'm so mad because i had around 50 songs on it already and about 0 playlists set up. any help would be appreciated, thnx

ok one more question. Is the only reason I would need to update my zen micro's firmware is to add music from supscription music download companies? What exactly would I need to download a new firmware for?Message Edited by augi55 on 06-26-2005 08:44 PM

  • Zen Micro Battery L

I was just wondering what the longest was that anyone got a battery to last in a zen micro. I have managed to get mine to last approx 4hrs. Has anyone else had this sucess?
    Blade

If you all don't have Firmware v.0.03 or higher, you may want to update.
Taken from the details of the Zen Micro Firmware .0.03 download:
"It has been reported by some of our customers that they have experienced reduced battery life after charging their Zen Micro. Our product development team has researched these reports and determined that the users may have experienced this after they plugged their Zen Micro into the AC adapter that was already inserted into a wall socket with the AC power on.
While this is not the conventional way to plug in a player for charging, we wanted to ensure our customers did not experience this problem, so we have developed a solution to address this which simply involves upgrading the Zen Micro's firmware."
