Zen Micro 6GB Frozen to the Starting Scr

I haven't opened my Zen Micro 6GB about 2 months after I received it and when I try to operate it, it stays frozen to the screen with "Creative, Copyright(c) 2004, Creative Technology Ltd, All Rights Reserved" and stays like that forever.
I even tried removing the battery, holding the power to on, and placing the battery back in and nothing is happening.
Can you give me some pointers? Or should I so a warranty exchange?

tried giving it some more power? It could just be lacking battery....

I have had no problems up untill yesterday, I went to turn it on, but when i pulled the little on button, it went straight to the open screen, made a really wierd noise then stopped, the light went off, and now it wont do anything, i plugged it into the wall jack and left it untill today when i woke up. I took it off of the charger and it was the same.. on that screen. I plugged it up to my computer but it wont recognize it!!! no matter what buttons i push it just stays the same!!
    Someone Help!!!

    Here's what you can try:
    Zen Micro / Zen MicroPhoto
. Make sure that battery is charged.
    2. Detach your player from the computer, and ensure that it is turned off.
    3. Remove the battery.
    4. Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the Zen Micro. Hold the Power button until the Recovery Mode appears.
    5. The following options will be displayed:
    * Clean Up (Performs a disk scan on the players hard disk, it will not affect music files)
    * Format All (Formats the players hard disk - Note: all contents will be lost)
    * Reload Firmware (Reloads the Operating System on the Jukebox)
    * Reboot (Reboots the device).

  • Zen Micro 6GB Doesn't D

I have a Zen Micro 6GB and it has worked fine for 8 months and today I went to delete and add some songs but it won't dock. It shows that it is charging the battery and that is all. I read through some subjects and tried hooking my USB cable to the back of my computer but that didn't help. When I plug in my USB cable it goes to the last song that was played before I shut it down and starts charging but never shows the dock symbol or words. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as I love my player and would like to add some more and different songs. Thanks for any and all help.Message Edited by krystelena on 0-06-200708:59 AM

  • Creative Zen Micro 6GB probl

I've some problems with my Creative Zen Micro 6GB MP3-player.
It won't go on anymore because the on/off button is broken.
The MP3-Player already had some problems with getting stuck while it was?starting up, so the new problem with the on/off button was new. I've send an e-mail to Creative support but I already did that for 2 months ago and I got no answer. Does anybody knows what I should do or what the adress of Creative is in The Netherlands so I can send my Zen to them?Message Edited by Mattijs on 02-4-200703:53 AM

To send in a unit you have to arrange that with Customer Support first, they will arrange everything and give you the address details along with a reference number that must be on the front of the package when you send it to us.
When you e-mailed us before, did you get an auto response back? That always goes out, if you didn't receive that, it's possible that either your request didn't arri've with us, or that you did get a response but it got stuck in a spam filter (if you have one set up).

  • Zen Micro 6GB buzzing so

My Zen Micro 6gb players was working just fine when I powered it down. When I powered it up to continue listening to my selection, the player would start to play the selected track then the sound would start making a buzzing like sound and the player would lockup and not respond to any touch pad commands or the power down function. I have to physicaly remove the battery to stop the player. When I reinstert the battery and power up the player it starts to rebuild the library, and when the progress bar reaches 00%, the player locks up and will not respond to any touch pad commands or power off. The LCD back light goes out also. The battery is at 90% and I also tried another fully charged battery with the same results.
I was able to partialy restore most functions by connecting the Zen Micro 6GB to my computer, some functions are still not working right, and the unit has the latest firmware.
Is the recovery utility compatable with the Zen Micro, for I do not see it listed?
Any recomendations on how to correct this malfuction, or do I have to return it to Creative for repairs? It is a refurbished unit and out of warranty.

    Hi,
Have you done a Clean Up for the player?
The recovery utility or the recovery tool is not supported for the Zen Micro.

  • Reduced sound zen micro 6gb - from limited knowledge pers

    Hi
We bought mp3 zen micro 6gb pink, in Feb for our daughter. In June she said the volume whether on the docking/speaker station or through the earphones was greatly reduced. When on 'high' you can just hear the music.
I tried to read other posting re volume but I did not understand anything! I am not very computer/mp3 literate, so I need very basic (dummy type) step by step instructions.
    Many thanks

  • My iPod is frozen at the start-up logo. How can I fix this?

My iPod is frozen at the start-up screen logo thing, and it just won't continue to the menu.
I've tried restarting it by holding the select button and the menu button, and it restarts but just ends up at the same frozen screen.
    PLEASE HELP
    Regards,
    Desperate Cygurd

I've actually managed to fix this by unplugging the speakers and turning up the volume for the internal speaker. I found this solution on the following link.

  • Zen Micro Photo frozen on Creative scr

Hi, I have had my Zen Micro Photo for three months and it has worked fine untill today. When I turned it on it went to the creative screen like it usually does and it just stayed there. I tried taking out the battery and putting it in again but it did the same thing. It doesn't even do anything when I hook it up to the computer. What can I do? I'm freaking out here please help me!!!!!!

It could be that the microdri've is "stuck" or in failure.
While the MicroPhoto is turned off, try tapping (well do it very firmly and with enough force) on the palm of your hand, restart the MicroPhoto and see if it boots up completely.
If not, a firm smack on a table top or counter may unstick the heads of the microdri've if that is what's preventing the microdri've from completely booting up.

  • Zen Micro 6gb installation probl

Ok, so Iv'e sent in a 5 gb zen micro twice now because of that headphone jack problem, and this time when they sent me a new one, they "upgraded" me to a 6gb. Well, I try to use this 6gb with the software i have installed from the last Micro I had, and my comp will not recognize it. So I try to user the cd that came with my old Micro, and it will not install right. When they sent me this 6gb, the only thing they sent me was the Micro and its battery, so I have no way to know if the cd that comes with a new 6gb is different form a 5gb cd, because if it is, then am I screwed?

A firmware basically is what makes an electronic device tick. It is the software responsible for every and all functions.
The Zen Micro has two versions of firmwares:
The original version works with Creative's own protocol and thus needs the installation of drivers for the system to recognize it. However it will function with all Windows versions while there also is unofficial support for Linux and MAcOS.
The second version functions using MTP, a protocol made by Microsoft and as such it is only supported by Microsoft's Windows Media Player 0 under OSs that support it (which basically only are WinXP and Vista...)
The simplest way to see which firmware you have is to look in the Micros' menu under System->Information. There you'll see firmware version.
If they both have version (..0 being the latest) then you'll need drivers for the both. As I already said, when I tried to update the drivers without uninstalling the old ones the drivers were installed but they wouldn't work.
First of all make sure the player(s) is(are) connected to the PC FIRST.
Mind you, in my case the latest drivers were already installed (I updated them but then they wouldn't work, remember?). Now here's the thing:
When I opened the drivers properties I saw that the driver was DISABLED. (under General, device usage)
Ok, I enabled it, nothing happened. Then I tried to update the drivers. Here's what I did:
I put the CD with the original drivers in the dri've and selected for windows to look for the best drivers. After some time they indeed appeared to have found a better match and then they started installing them. After the installation was complete the driver's version was the same as rhe one BEFORE the "update" (since I had already updated to the latest version). However the moment the drivers were updated the device was finally recognized by the system, not even a reboot was needed...
You could try doing that too, if that won't work then you could try DLing the LATEST drivers (along with the Zen Micro Explorer) and install them AFTER uninstalling the old ones and REBOOTING. Again, it is important having the player(s) connected BEFORE starting the installation.
If after all that you still can't connect it ask again!
    Cheers!Message Edited by Keyper7 on 02-9-200604:37 PM

  • Zem Micro is frozen in "Hardware Probelm" Scr

I got the zen micro a few weeks ago but did not start using it seriously until a few days ago. It is probable that the power was very low as I never charged the battery very long when I got it and I left it int's box unused for some while after than - which I know drains it. I got a message saying that the system was shutting down but the screen had frozen. I removed the battery to reset the machine but when I put it back again I got the message "Hardware Problem". I have put it on charge and I have tried the trick of holding the switch ON while replacing the battery but nothing I do shifts the message.
I would like to log this fault with support but the support screen will not accept the product ID I enter. I have looked in the back of the ZEN and find the number DAP-MD0004. On the ZEN site it tells me that the ID is DAP-MD0004, ZMIC5DBLUE. However, whetever I enter it rejects my message. It seems I am blocked on all fronts!

That is a Hard Dri've failure. Take it back to where you got it for replacement, or contact Creative Support for warranty.

  • Creative Zen Micro 6GB/Problems with Power Switch and Firmw

The power switch on my Zen Micro has died. I can't turn it on or off unless I 'jump start' it from a USB cable and leave it alone to go into idle shutdown. I've had this player just three weeks and this is happened and frankly I'm disgusted. But wait, my story get's worse:
So before sending it back to Creative I thought that I should at least exhaust every possible cure. First on my list? A Firmware upgrade to v2.22.05. I downloaded the program and set about installing the new firmware but halfway through the process it hung and I had to end it prematurely. Now what I had was a ZM that apparently had v2.22.05 but was not being recognised at all by my computer. Media Explorer wasn't picking up on it and neither was WMP although strangely when I connect the device it's there in the Device Manager...
So, check back with the website and it said to download an update for Mediasource and that should solve the problem. Downloaded the patch but then realised that I hadn't installed Mediasource on my computer (can't remember why I didn't though). Went back to the downloads page and downloaded Mediasource. Tried to install it but I can't. The reason? because my computer isn't detecting the ZM and I can't install it until it recognises that it's there.
As a last resort I thought that I would try to use 'Rescue Mode'. Seemed simple enough, remove the battery and hold down the power switch. Then put the battery back in and wait for the rescue screen to come up. Seems easy enough. Oh wait, I don't have a working power switch.
What I do have though, is a small piece of plastic and metal that I can't turn on, can't turn off, can't put any songs on, can't listen to, can't fix and can't be bothered with. I have a ?60 paperweight.
Anyone at all have any idea what I should do? I just want to put it all in a box and send it back to Amazon with a request for a full refund or a threat to take them to the Small Claims Court.

Although a failed power switch is not unknown, I only recall seeing two or three other cases of this. It's not common.
If WMP isn't working with the device having v2 firmware something is wrong. Unfortunately this can be difficult to fix, but take a look here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.
MediaSource won't detect the player if there's some issue e.g. WMP0 not detecting it. You can of course also try installing Zen Micro Media Explorer (Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update to be specific) which has MTP support.
Are you are presumably under guarantee, and as you bought from an Internet store, it's best to return it direct to Creative. Contact Creative Support to arrange this.

  • Experience w/ Zen Micro 6GB MP3 Pla

The 6GB version of Zen Micro has been out... If you have purchased one, can you please provide me your experience with the new player? I am interesting on whether Creative has fixed some known issues with the 5GB player such as head phone jack.. Also, is there any difference between 6GB and 5GB?

I just received the 6 Gb Zen Micro 3 days ago from Creative. It fired up with no problems, and connected as expected with the pc running XP SP2. The Creative software for the computer looks like a mess, Windows Media player 0 is much more intuiti've and works well with the Zen. So far so good. Synching with Outlook is the next challenge.
Lack of accessories is my only sore point. No belt clip is a problem for the gym. Right now the Zen is jammed in an IPod neoprene jacket with a circular cutout that my daughter decided wasn't cool enough for her. Maybe I'll resort to making a case from an Altoids tin like I saw in another forum.
    Greg.
PS: If ordering from creative, tell them to put some packing between the Zen box and the shipping box. Mine was rattlling around in a box that was about "x 4".

  • Zen Micro 6gb Stuck at "Creative" l

First off, I realize there have been many topics relating to booting up and the screen freezing at the welcome creative screen. I just need to see what needs to be done, wether it be manually or by customer support. Recently on vacation, I dropped my Creative zen micro about 4 feet onto concrete. Now when i picked it up to check it out, there were no scratches or pieces that fell off. Also there was no rattling inside of the mp3 player. Later to my suprise, when turning it on, it froze at the "Creative" logo, and would not procede to go to the menu. I slapped it on my knee a couple times, nothing to serious, just seeing if anything that came loose, would set back in its place. Well it worked, don't ask me how, but it worked. I succesfully got to the menu and could listen to music. Well later, when I turned it back on I noticed it got stuck back at the creative screen. Somehow, when I put pressure on the mp3 player, something happened, and it booted back to the menu, like it would normally. Everything seemed fine, until about 3 days later it all happened again, but for good, its not going to the menu. All I see is a white screen with the black text that reads " Creative ". The only way to turn the player off, is to take out the battery, When plugged into my pc, it charges, and proceeds to glow in and out,.. but the screen light stays at a solid brightness, while the blue outlining fades in and out. I tried running all the options in the reboot menu, like format, and clean disk, but they all freeze up/ My pc recognizes the mp3 player, but the creative software I have installed does not. I tried updating the firmware, but it says my player is not connected. I thought about contacting customer support, but I notices that the seal is ripped, or "tampered" with. Its very easy top break the seal on accident, all you have to do is move the metal plate downward, and the seal ri
    ps.
At this point, I just disassebled the player to see if there were any loose parts, and I noticed everything seemed to be in order, and I put it back together to find the same results as before. Well I have it disassembled again, with all the parts layed out. Any help would be great.
Also, one last question.. Is there anyway I can reset the hardri've manually, as in, is there a little reset button on the hard-dri've that would format it's I have it in my hand, was just wondering if I could reset it.

I started reading in this forum because my Zen Micro Photo freezed today . It left the bag of my trousers and hit the floor. I am now wondering how much people do have the same problem as me. My player was falling the first time from the height of my knees and it was turned off. Startup stucked on Creative screen.
It seems to be that Creative harddisk players are especially vulnerable to hits like this. It is acceptable when it does not work anymore after hitting the floor 0 times. Or when it falls from a table. But already after the first time from a short height?
I tried what administrators do not advise:
Banging the player during startup. Reached music library. Had to bang two or three times more and all was okay. I am not sure for how long this will hold.
