Zen Micro as a portable HardDisk: PROBLEM WITH BIG FI

Hello,
i own a Zen Micro 5 GB, firmware is 2..02.
When i tried to put a DIVX-movie on it, to take it to another computer, the file (around 700MB) was put succesfully on the Zen Micro's harddisk, but when i tried to copy it to other computers FROM the Zen, it failed, giving an error about insufficient memory. (on the zen i suppose, because this error came on different, good computers). Also, smaller files (like mp3) give no problems with this.
IS THE ZEN MICRO ABLE NOT ONLY TO STORE LARGE FILES, BUT TO COPY THEM AS WELL, because using it as a portable harddisk was one of my main reasons for choosing this product.
Or is my product faulty? Or firmware?
Thank you for reactions, (others who experience this?), suggestions or solutions!
Greetings!
(apart from this, a del?ghted user)

  • Creative Zen Micro - No Space on Harddisk although deleting fi

Hi,I've been using my Creative Zen Micro for months creating mp3-playlists with the program Creative Media Source. But suddenly the program tells me there's no space left on my player-harddisk so I cannot copy more files from my pc to the player. The funny thing is: When I'm deleting via the source-window of Creative Media Source, the shown playlists disappear as well on the source-window as on the player itself. BUT: the program still tells me there's no space on my player-harddisk! The program is realizing my deleting-actions by subtract the deleted playlist from the total playlist-amount. But doesn't subtract anything from the?byte-amount on my player-harddisk. So: how can I really delete files or playlists from my player and create space for new files? As I want to create a playlist for the soon birth of my daughter, I'd appreciate quick help from you! Thanks a lot to everyone!?

There was a problem caused on at least some Sony laptops, caused by a clash with some Sony driver.
If you're running Win XP, go to Control Panel > System (or hold down the Flag key + Pause/Break), Advanced, Startup and Recovery settings, disable Automatically Restart.
Next time it bluescreens, what file is referred to?

  • Zen Micro - Player not connected - Firmware problem - no FAQ hel

    Hi!
My Zen Micro made problems by turning on but anyway it started sometimes to the mainmenu where I could hear music. So I wanted to upgrade the firmware. By copying new firmware in the past there were no problems. For sure I cleaned the Micro up. I formatted it and wanted to upgrade the firmware...
Now it starts with the screen "firmware problem" to the recovery menu and my firmare is now "v0.0.65". When I cable it to the PC via USB it gets found as a portabel device with the correct name "Creative Zen Micro". And the screen turns from the recovery mode to the screen when the Zen Micro is connected to the PC. So there is the paper in the middle with two arrows around. And on the top the caption is again "recovery mode". When I touch the up and down touchscreen the paper and the arrows disappear, but the caption remains.
But by starting the firmare there is the message that the player was not found. And WMP can't find it with the synchronization mode...and so on. Nothing can find it except the working place. When opening the "Creative Zen Micro" menu ich see "Storage Media" with 20MB. I can format it but nothing changes.
When I'm watching the specifications of the "Creative Zen Micro" the firmare version is "2.2.02_0.00.65".
I reinstalled all creative software (including the registry entrys !) and rolled back WMP.
But nothing goes right. Every FAQ which I followed doesn't repair my Zen Micro
I also used a laptop and this didn't help too.
I invested the hole day the day before yesterday, but I stuck.
I hope somebody can help me.

    -Windows Media Player COMPLETELY uninstalled
-in Device Manager ALL USB-Controllers uninstalled (don't worry about non-controlling your mouse or keyboard -> will install themselves after uninstalling or after restart)
    -restart
-and TSCHAKAAA...Player was found and firmware could be installed (i installed for the first time again the 2.2 version. message was "installation failing" but it worked...anyway i reinstalled version . and the message was 'yeah. it works')
    -Player works!
I hope this report can help some people.

  • Harddisk problem with Zen To

When I start up the player it gives me a screen with four options. if i choose any then it says there is a scandisk problem. the only thing i can click is reboot which brings me to the same screen again.
    what should i do??

Presumably by "scandisk problem" you mean harddisk problem as per the subject?
If so it's bad news unfortunately as it means there's a problem with the hard disk. You can try the advice here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net at your OWN RISK. If you don't want to try this or are under warranty then contact Creative Support.
If you aren't under warranty you can contact Creative Support to see if they will repair it. If you want to try repairing it yourself, taking the risk the hard disk is at fault, then you can follow Rudi Cheow's excellent guide. There's also a thread here at the Zen Nomadness.net forum on compatible dri'ves, and the last page of Rudi's guide also has information on this.

  • Zen: Micro....Firmware Problem, Stuck in Recovery m

I got my Zen Micro in September and I have never had a problem with it until now. I connected it to my computer to charge up this morning since the battery was running low. Then this afternoon when I got home, I turned it on and it quickly flashed a screen saying "Firmware Problem" and then it goes straight to Recovery Mode. It will not exit Recovery Mode. I have tried redoing the Firmware, but it will not allow me to.
This is the first problem I have had with the player and I have never done anything with it except upload music and play music....no trying to download new applications or software, etc. It has even been quite a while since I have put any new/took any old music off the player.
Has any one else had this problem? Can someone offer some advice? Also...would this problem qualify under the warranty for the player? Thanks!

    [size="6">It Works
!!! Thanks so much for your assistance. After reading all the replies and related messages I finally gave up everything and did a search for everything that had to do with Zen Xtra and deleted it.....deleted it from Windows Device Manager, Windows Media Player, Real Player, Audible Manager, all files that had "Zen" in it....gone. I emptied my recycle bin, unpluged the player, rebooted my computer, let Windows find a driver for a "portable device" (I had already rolled Windows Media Player AND the WMP Runtime to version 0 prior to posting to the forum), downloaded the most current driver and firmware for the Zen Xtra, installed them and it works!?The really sad thing is, all this time (and yes, my time is worth something), aggrivation and stress could have been avoided had Creative seen fit to make one little note on their web site where the download is. All they would have to do is put a note in the description that you *must* have Windows Media Player version 0, that it will not work with version . I'm really disappointed in the Creative support...that really sucks. But I really do want to thank you for your assistance. You saved me from denting my wall with this thing and saved me from having to replace it. Thanks,Trax

  • Zen Micro as a portable

I'm trying to find more information on using the . I brought this with the intent of using it as both MP3 player and portable HD, and I heard from a friend that it isn't compatiable on a Mac as a portable HD. Is this true? I thought it would be like practically every other MP3 player, and act like a standard external harddri've when I plug it into a computer (PC or Mac) without installing any software... If I can't use this on a Mac, I'll be sorely disappointed, since I use Macs at uni'versity, and have a PC at home. Maybe I should have gone with an ipod mini instead. ~_~

On my Zen Micro, the firmware version is .0.03e (French version). I didn't install the last version (2.00.2e with PlaysForSure) because it only works with Windows XP, and I have W2k at work and Wxp at home. So, I can't say more about that new version...
One thing is sure: when you plug the Zen Micro in Removable disk mode, you can't see the music files installed on your Zen. In this mode, you only see a sort of "partition" which is completely different of the music partition. In fact, it's a working space you can use to transfer files from one computer to another. For example, if you can't install any software on your work computer, you can use the removable disk to transfer music files and when you are at home, copy these files on your hard disk and transfer them with Creative MediaSource software.
    Hope this helps!Alain

  • Won't reformatting the Creative Zen Micro constantly kill it? Especially with the beta firmwa

I have just been the victim of "sudden audio player death syndrome" my iri'ver h0 bit the dust two weeks after I bought it... I have the same fears about my creative zen micro, as I fear that these micro dri'ves are less durable than full size hard disks and more succeptible to failure. I really was scared to format it once. And I asked the question earlier... but I would like some more replies, do you have to reformat the dri've every month to renew subscription tracks on napster to go... does anybody have experience with the service and the player, maybe for a couple of months that could tell me?

I have the Micro as well as the Seagate Pocket Dri've, a standalone version of the S dri've that's in the Micro. I've owned the latter for about fi've months now. Both of them take a fair share of abuse: the Seagate dri've travels in my backpack or pocket every day to and from work. The Micro is strapped on my arm fi've times a week as I do my daily jog. Both have yet to show any signs of damage. I also reformatted my Micro dri've about 0-2 times when I first got it (I had problems that I thought were caused by the firmware but, as it turns out, were caused by my USB card).

  • Muvo Micro N 200 has a problem with FM recei

    Hi All,
I bought recently Muvo Micro N 200 MP3 player ( 52 MB) and it sounds very good on MP3 songs. I tried for FM and end up with problem.
I bought this in Japan and Set the FM region to Japan and started Autoscan. It has given lot of stations and none of them are clear. All stations are received with Hissing sound and lot of noise along with relay. First I tought, there might be some problem with FM stations and checked with my another FM player. It worked well.
I do not know, what exactly is the problem. All FM stations are received with Noise. Please help me to correct this problem. Please let me know, if there are any settings to be done other than FM region setting to Japan, that I have already done.
Note : When I rotate my MUVO player in some angle, the FM receiving turns good and I found that, it receives well only in certain angles. Is it so.
    Thanks,
    Saravanan

If you are in Japan, the FM setting should be on autoscan
If you are anywhere else in the world, it should be international, the FM settings are not for where you bought it, it's your present location here and now.
The noise you hearing is most likely white noise, and yes the MuVo is very sensiti've to where it's placed on receiving signals

  • Zen Micro as a portable storage devic

Does anyone know if it is possible to put anything but audio files onto a Creative Zen Micro? and if so could someone tell me/link me to somwhere telling me how?
Things im talking about are, files like word Documents etc... I-pod's are able to hold .txt files and you can view them on the screen, so id rather my i-pod owning friend didnt get one up on me...
    Cheers, in advance

You CAN store files one the device, but this is on another part of the harddisk then your music library. You must choose the capacity of this "Removable Disk"-mode when you first use it. It is found in Menu>Extra>Removable Disk. When you select this, music stops playing and you can only use this function unless you press the back button. If you use Removable disk mode you will be able to use it as a usb-device on every PC.

  • Problems with Big Bang Fuzion

I have been having a world of problems with this motherboard. It a long story but I will start with what is going on now.
The machine has some of the strangest behavior.
    10-30 minute boots.
This happens every time I boot the machine after the first re-boot after installation of the operating system.
there is one thing that will help, that is to boot into the recovery console and execute
    bootsect /nt60 all
This only works once and then after the next reboot, back to 10-30 minute wait. The machine will sit that log at the windows loading screen, as the windows logo glows in and out.
    asdf
The next problem is periodically the mouse will become choppy, and the sounds cut out. This also happens when drivers are being installed. Everything freezes, the keyboard num lock light stops responding, the mouse stops responding. Then after a few moments everything resumes back to normal. This happens no matter what driver installs. NIC, chipset, Video, Sound, Raid, etc.
Also the machines performance is just not that what my hardware should be. On the FFXIVBenchmark, my machine scored a 1000, when it has scored a 3000 before.
So those are the issues that are happening now. Now I would like to describe the history of the machine.
I have been troubleshooting this machine for well over 5 months, so if I lack details, it is due to exhaustion.
First I installed windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit back on 2/22/2010. I was getting BSODs during install. I ran Memtest 86+ and the RAM would fail I had the RAM replaced, with the same kind and re-installed. The problems were gone for a while. I enjoyed Half Life 2 at 120 FPS, and started playijng GTAIV at full specs and would get 30-40 FPS.
Then I wanted to take advantage of final 1GB of RAM and installed 64-bit. Here is where the problems started (I have installed 32-bit recently and the same problems exist) First the machine was unbearably slow at install. The mouse was choppy, and the install never made it past expanding Windows Files after 12 hours.
I installed an additional hard drive, and installed the boot partition there, and the system partition on the RAID0. Things would work for a bout a month and then the machine would BSOD more and more often. Pretty soon the BSOD's were durring boot. I ran another MEMTEST and the new memory failed again. OCZ tech agent said that I needed to use the Low Voltage version. OCE replaced my RAM with the new LOW Voltage ram.
Things did not get any better. BSODs continued to happen. So I installed WHOCRASHED and within 24 hours, 12 BSOD, 9 of them NTOSKERNL is to blame.

One thing to note, my copy of Windows 7 is from an MSDN subscription. I re-downloaded the disc and verified that the ISO was the correct SHA1 checksum from the MSDN store. Burned the ISO, verified the burn. The exact same disc was used to upgrade my wife's machine from VISTA to windows 7 and there has been no problems.
Here is the troubleshooting done then.
    https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=153XmmkyBB4r5y9G99jBjDP_J5wRl3N4Epdhuu9q2zgw
durring the time I was troubleshooting with MSI, the motherboard would no longer POST. the CPU PHASE indicator would say "F"
After the RMA of the motherboard, the problems I am having now exist. and some of the same from before.
One such problem, when only downloading the ATI video card drivers I get an error "The data passed was too small"
Some of the things I have done are replacing the DVD drive with a known good one. Using an entirely different hard drive. Swapping memory DIMMS. Replacing the Sata cables.
I am so tired of this machine that its hard to remember what I have and have not done. I know that I have built machines before and never had so much struggle as I have had with this one.
The memory still passes on Memtest. The hard drives pass Western Digitals testing software. I don't know what else there is to do.

  • Having problem with big pond email account downloading on all devices

    Hi,
Have just bought the Mac Air and am having enormous problems with emails downloading on all devices (ipad, iphone and Mac). If it downloads on one it does not download on another. I have a Telstra bigpond.net.au account. I do not want to change net.au account since I have had it since the dawn of time!
What is the most effective solution? Apple suggest using gmail as a conduit but does this work. They say it may work but do not guarantee success.
    Help!

With multiple computers, POP is a royal pain. Back in the days when I had to use POP mail, my solution was to access my POP accounts only from work due to the reason you describe. Basically POP works like this: mail goes into your POP account, you access the account and download the mail onto your computer, the mail that's downloaded is deleted from the mail server. When we were using just one computer that was fine but not now.
The idea of using gmail should work. Once you are in the gmail setup window choose the Accounts tab and read the help screen under Learn More about Check mail from other accounts (using POP3) This will have gmail access your bigpond email account and move it to gmail which can be set up as IMAP so all your devices can access it 'properly'. I had this working perfectly with my work email until we finally got the go-ahead to upgrade our mail server and started using IMAP.

  • Zen Micro won't connect to computer with WMP 10 or higher instal

I've searched high and low for what could be causing this problem and nothing seems to be working. I just recently formatted my hard dri've. Before I formatted it my Micro was working just fine with the computer and I had WMP installed. After the format the computer won't load the device with WMP installed, so I rolled back to WMP 0 and it still wouldn't load the device. Then I rolled back to WMP 9, that comes with Windows XP, and it loads it perfectly fine. I've looked for plug-ins and hotfixes and everything else and absolutely nothing is working. Everytime I plug the device in with WMP 0 or loaded it brings up the "Found New Hardware" wizard and then it times out when trying to load the MTP driver. However, I plugged it into my friends computer and it loads perfectly fine. The firmware on the player is the latest because I had to update it for WMP before.
The thing that I don't get is why it has trouble loading the MTP driver with WMP 0 or installed but when WMP 9 is what is installed it loads it right away with no problems. Does anyone know what I can do??Also, since I formatted the hard dri've all my music is currently backed up on the Micro so I don't want to have to format it. And as far as I know WMP is the only way to get all of the songs off of the Micro, if there is any other way to get all of the songs off that would be helpful too. I can get most of the songs off just by drag and drop, but I can't get all of them for some reason. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks

I have had this problem creep up on me lately, but it doesn't happen every time though. I've been able to get around it by trying two or three times to reconnect it, but a couple of times it got right stubborn. In that situation, it seemed restarting my PC did the trick.
Not sure if that helps, but...

I have tried cleaning it from the help menu, uninstalling and re installing the software and everything?PLEASE HELP!Thanks

  • Creative Zen Micro Photo not tested for use with Windows so cant install it! Please help

Heya! Basically when installing the software for Microphoto it stops saying that as my device hasn't been tested for use with windows it cant install for fear of corrupting my laptop! Can anyone help me overcome this because i installed it aagges ago and it let me have the option of continuing the installating, but i had 2 uninstall it and upon reinstalling it it does not give me the option to continue. It just cancels the installation. Can someone please help me as this is driving me nuts!! Y is it that technology is continuosly mucking up grrrrr!
    Lucy

Are you runnning Win XP SP2? If so, this is a standard warning about unsigned drivers, but it should still give you the option to "continue anyway" to complete the installation.
Also, make sure you have Windows Media Player 0, as this is needed for Windows XP (drivers) to recognize your MicroPhoto.
