Zen Micro - "BACK" button sensitivity iss

My Micro has functioned flawlessly except for one thing: the "back" button doesn't seem as responsi've to touch as the other "buttons". Sometimes I need to tap it three or four times to get it to function properly. On occasion, I actually have to press the thing down as if it were a button on a remote control. I have seen mention of similar issues from users in other posts, but didn't see a dedicated thread. Anyone else having this sort of thing go on with their player?

I thought I was going nuts when I kept on pressing the back button and nothing was happening. It just started happening to me for the past couple of days (had it about two weeks w/o problems. I've upgraded to the latest firmware, but I also notice that I need to plug in the headphones and wait about 0 seconds and this cures it most of the time. Not sure why, but if it gets worse I'll contact Creative as well.

  • Not clear on Zen micro back up proced

I am currently trying to re-install the Creative software for my 8 month old Zen micro after getting new computer and since I have lost my software CD, I will be attempting to do this with downloads from the Nomad site. I am scared that something will go wrong and my player will crash, since I have to connect it to allow software to properly install. I have a lot of music on it and I have thought about trying to back up the files--of course now without Mediasource on the PC, I can't do this. My questions are: has anyone successfully downloaded the software from the Nomad site and had the music already on the player survi've intact? And next, once I get the software back on the PC, is there a way I can back up the files on the player to the PC? (I did read about this on the FAQ, but I was not clear on exactly how this works--i.e. if a track ripped from a CD is already on the player, can I get it back and store on the computer?)
    Thanks very much!
    pkoeppen

The same thing happened to me and I called the co. and they told me to send it in, (bad hard dri've)not only that the head phone jack was loose so i only got like half the sound, either high's or lows it sucked. I only had it for a month!!

  • Zen Micro Now Playing / Playlist iss

    Hey...
I Have the Zen Micro, but when I'm creating my playlists it's very frustrating that the when you select a song then the "Play" item is listed before the "Add to selected" it should be the other way around since I quite often hit the "Play" button and the playlist is overwritten - very annoying!
So are there a way to customize which items are listed first when you select a song?

Unfortunately no way to customise it.

  • Creative Zen Micro--HOLD button proble

Is anyone with a Zen Micro also having problems with the hold button? Mine only works when the player is on. Once I turn the player off, it automatically turns on again. It's very strange. Then when I'm actually able to push it to hold after it's shutdown it just starts up again and maintains that it's on hold (I can't press any buttons on the touchpad). I've tried to reach Creative CS but it's busy or I wait forever. I've come to the desperate point of taking out my battery every time I finish listening to my player. Otherwise I end up with no battery power because it's in my pocket, playing all day while I'm at work.
Anyway, if anyone has had this problem and can hand over any suggestions, they'd be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Creative Zen Micro - No Scr

** NOTE ** This is the message I sent to Creative support. But I would like help from everyone here, too. **
Last night I had been charging my computer, and
shut off my computer with my Creative Zen Micro
still plugged in. At that point, everything that
was on the screen became frozen onto the screen.
I turned in on, then turned it off, and
everything disappeared. I thought it was fine.
But earlier today at school, while listening to
my MP3 player, I went to change the song and
noticed that a bunch of jibberish was being
displayed. At that point, I had proceeded to
turn off/on my MP3 player again.
When the random assortment of letters, numbers,
and lines hadn't ceased to disappear, I
immediately turned off my MP3, took the battery
out, and placed it back in. At which point, I
turned on my MP3 player to discover... nothing
is being displayed on the screen anymore. I took
the battery out again, put it back in, turned it
    on, and still nothing.
I am now at home and have backed up everything
that was on my MP3 player. I attempted a
reformat via the troubleshooter, (take battery
out, hold power button on, put battery in,
continue to hold power button, etc...) but
nothing is being displayed. Thus, I cannot
perform a complete reformat, cannot restart, or
do anything with it at all.
The screen remains entirely blank, even if music
is playing. You can press pause and it pauses,
or press the [next song] button and change songs,
but nothing is displayed on the screen.
I had acquired my Creative Zen Micro on Boxing
Day of 2005 (December 26, 2005), and have only
had minor problems such as it freezing
occasionally. I currently have a 2 year warranty
that I purchased along with the MP3 player in
question. Any help would be appreciated.

Bump. Sorry, but I would like a response. I have checked other threads about this issue, and to me it sounds like it is a hardware malfunction and I HAVE to send my Zen Micro back to Creative.
Update: My MP3 player has been sitting, off, for about 5 hours. I turned it on and there was a single blue line running across the bottom of the screen. At this point, I began to reset it again. Good news, the screen appeared! I told it to reboot, and now everything is working A-OK. But I DEFINITELY will not turn off my computer without unhooking it first. Biggest mistake I made.Message Edited by Rape_of_Faith on 02-04-2006 0:44 AM

  • What Model EarPhones come with the Zen Micro Limited & "Lite" Edition(

    http://creative.com/products/welcome.asp?category=437
can anyone please identify them for me?
limited edition (one that comes with wall charger, case, etc.)?
second edition (one that comes with only the player and min. accesories)?

I bought the limited edition Zen Micro back in december, which came with:
    - Zen Micro with Battery
    - The standard white earphones
    - usb cable
    - wall adapter
    - hard case (with belt clip and desk stand)
    - Extra battery
    - Pouch
    - Installation CD-Rom
The new Zen Micro's (4GB and 6 GB, 5GB still has extra accesoiries) come with:
    - Zen Micro with Battery
    -The standard white earphones
    - usb cable
    - Installation CD-Rom
If you buy a 5GB new Zen Micro, it will still come with:
    - Zen Micro with Battery
    -The standard white earphones
    - usb cable
    - wall adapter
    - hard case (with belt clip and desk stand)
    - Pouch

  • Using Zen Micro on a linux b

    Hey
I'm getting my Zen Micro back from repairs today, after a very long wait, Last I had it i used windows XP, but now I have changed to Kubuntu Linux. Is it possible to mount the Zen into a linux box to transfer music to it in a decent way?

Wow such a strong statement for no purpose.
I use linux too and have a zen touch. THESE FORUMS would be EXACTLY where I would ask the broad question: "Can I use Linux with my Creative Labs MP3 player?" I would not necessarily expect a direct answer, but at least redirection. Not a smart-alek answer with commands to delete my file system.
Direct question on topic (mp3 players). ggs

  • Zen Micro at Best B

I had to send my Zen Micro back under Best Buy's replacement plan, and when I went to the store to get a new one they said that they'd been sold out for two weeks. I checked all four Raleigh, North Carolina area Best Buys, and they're all out. Now it's been taken off of their website completely. Does anyone know what's up? Has the entire North American continent run out of stock, or what?
I wouldn't be so concerned, except I have to buy it at Best Buy because I was sent a Gift Card for my refund... and I have a 6-hour round-trip dri've looming in 2 weeks.
By the way, I'm talking about the normal Micro, not the MicroPhoto. (Don't even get me started on how mad I am that Creative would release a player with a ludicrous design flaw.)

Check the thread that says this product is no longer available.
I had a best buy clerk try to get me to buy and pay for it with the promise that they would deli'ver in a week but I am glad I didn't bite.
Makes one wonder what they have in store for CES.

  • Zen Micro not getting powered

New Zen Micro 4GB Player. (2 days old)
Was working fine and now suddenly, it's not getting powered on.
Battery had enough power before it became dead.
Looking for some help on this issue.
    Thanks
    Krishna

    Thanks.
Your suggestion brought my Zen Micro back to Life. I was really happy but it didn't last long. Because the touchpad seems to evoke no action on the player. I can perform the functions (like playing a song) through the Creative Software suite while being connected to the PC. Once disconnected from the PC, Zen Micro goes dead, though the the battery is adequately charged (for about three hours). Still could not power on using the touch pad power on option.
    Awaiting your suggestion..

  • [zen micro] Button probl

I have read the other threads about a problem in button sensitivity but they have not helped me. I got my zen micro about a week ago and originally attributed the problems I was having to the learning how to use the buttons (like someone else on the message board). However I still have problems with the sensistivity of the menu button and the back button. I have turned the sensitivity up to high and it seems to have had no effect on the bottom buttons. This also occur whilst the headphones are in (some people mentioned this made a difference). Can anyone suggest anything? Thanks.

I think most of those who've not been able to get the buttons to behave have had to return their players.
Firstly, you will need the headphones in otherwise the buttons definitely don't work properly.
Secondly, you can try a disk cleanup and a firmware update (at least to .02.05) just in case this is firmware related.

  • Zen Micro Button Light Brightn

    Hi,
I just received my silver Zen Micro which is now receiving its initial charge and I can't wait to play with it. I noticed however that when the light is on, the play/pause button is significantly brighter than the other buttons. Is this the norm or is this a quality control issue? It also looks like the outer glowing ring is slightly misaligned.
This one also has no 'back' word under the back button. Is this indicati've of an 'older' Zen Micro or a 'newer' one? Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

Thanks for the replies. GLAD to hear that the brighter blue of the play/pause is normal. I suppose that's to make it easier to find/identify in the dark.
As for the lack of the word 'back' on the back button... I think I can handle figuring it out without the word present... I'm kinda smart like that. I think I know why it doesn't have the writing but I'm not certain. My unit was listed as the English/French version, perhaps for sale in Canada. I got it for xmas from my girlfriend (isn't she the best?!!) who bought it from eCost. So if it's for both languages, that would explain the use of the international sign for 'back' rather than the actual word.

  • UPDATE - My Zen Micro DOES HAVE a STOP button - Not just Pa

Well. I just found this out. I am not sure if this will help resolve some of the battery drain issue / standby time issue.
On my Micro - on the top row of buttons (rew-play-ff) there are two raised bum
    ps.
I have tried this about 00 times and it works every time.
    Start playing a song.
Press Pause - as you would normally do.
now press the BUMP between Play and FF (right bump).
The song will now STOP. it is not paused the pause icon disappears and the player stops spinning. the time counter on the song resets to zero.
Try it out and post your results. The left bump between rew/play does nothing for me, just the other one....Message Edited by ccbm on 03-03-2005 06:43 AM

GPL: Done like dinner! Returned it yesterday to the store I bought it from! They were cool as hell about it even after two months since I bought my first one original one! Gave me a full refund of $455.05 and then I decided to try out a Sony for 30 days (359.99 for the Sony/paid 333.99 for the Micro!). For 26 bucks more, I got a whole lotta more player. If I don't like it, I'll return it too and wait for Creative to fix the troubles, but so far I love it (it has a battery OFF switch too). Maybe come back and get a Zen Micro Photo!
Here I posted about it yesterday:
    http://forums.creative.com/creativel...d=40032#M28862
I gonna send the case to Fdreinthea like I said I would if I got a new case.

  • Zen Micro iss

My problem is that my computer won't recognize my micro when I try to connect it with the zen micro media explorer or the creative removable disk manager.
But it does sync with WMP0 and the free trial of Napster to go that I have. I have many songs that I ripped from CD's and downloaded from Napster on it right now as proof.
    My firmware version is 2.20.05
Will upgrading fix this problem? (I never had to upgrade like it said to for Napster, so I don't know.)
Also, I did an experiment with battery life...Letting the battery run out from being fully charged and doing nothing at all with it, it lasted 8 hours. When I use it though, I doubt I even get 5 hours. Would the firmware help this?

The exact same thing has happened to me twice.
With my first Creative Zen Micro it worked beautifully till I installed the firmware Napster told me to. After that my computer did not recognise the device and only recognised it on Napster or as an MTP Device
Then the Zen froze on the first "Creative" screen when you start it up so I got a replacement.
Now I have a new Zen Micro and the same thing has happened, it is not recognised by the computer, because of the Napster firmware.
    This is really annoying.
My mum and sister both have Zen Micros and their computer failed to recognise theirs, they too used Napster.
So I have come to a conclusion that the fault is with the Napster Firmware.
I will now re-install my software and see if that works.
I don't like installing firmware as it takes ages to put all the music back on.
I have downloaded all the possible firmware.
