Zen Micro Color Scre

I may be way off here, but I was looking through the Best Buy catalogue, and I saw a Zen Micro 6GB with a COLOR SCREEN. I don't know if I have been living under a rock for the last few weeks, but is this something recent? I bought my Zen around Christmas, and it would really suck if they changed to color now (they are the SAME PRICE that the black and white were at Christmas time)
If the Zen has gone to color, is there anyway that I could trade mine in?
Thank you for any help, just confused and angry about this o_O

I almost bought the 6GB Micro, But I couldnt resist the neeon's pretty LCD backlight...
Its kinda close to a color screen... Ok so not really, but at least it has 7 random colors flashing every time I press a button...
If I had the extra money I did want the micro photo though... I wouldnt be suprised if someone finds a way to play videos on those things...

• Creative Zen Micro, Blank Scre

I purchased a Creative Zen Micro about 9 months ago. In the last maybe 3-4 months it's been randomly not showing a screen. It still plays music and i can still press the buttons, but the screen is blank. It didn't bother me that much because I could still figure out how to change it to another artist and all that. The screen would also randomly show up when I turned it on sometimes so it wasn't a big deal.
Now it's been a few weeks without a screen. I still wouldn't mind, except for the fact that it's somehow stuck in a list of about 5 random songs that it plays over and over. (And not my favorites haha) So yeah i'm getting pretty sick of it. I cant seem to figure out how to change the songs, or get the screen back. I've tried resetting by taking out the battery, and I'd assume if it were a battery problem then it just wouldnt work right?.. And I cant get into the recovery mode either without a screen. So can anyone help me with this? or should I talk to Creative about it ? Thanks!

Try starting the player into Recovery Mode, see if that works:
Ensure that the Zen Micro is turned off.
Remove the battery.
Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the Zen Micro. Hold the Power button until the rescue mode appears.
The following options will be displayed:
) Clean Up (Performs a disk scan on the players harddisk)
2) Format All (Formats the players harddisk - Note: all contents will be lost)
3) Reload OS (Reloads the Operating System on the Jukebox. Note: Reloading your OS, will not effect the contents of the files stored on your Zen Micro) Caution: Do not select this option until a firmware update has been downloaded onto the PC
4) Reboot (Reboots the device).
If you can get into Recovery Mode, try the Clean Up first.

• Change my zen micro color(israeliy users will help me more:)

hi!;
i want to change my zen color.
how do i do that?
im from israel and i bought an orange zen-the israelis will know how much this color is now senseti've in our country and beside i hate this color..i dont know why i bought shis one...i was drunk..(i think..)
help))

From what Ive read about taking apart the Micro to fix the headphone jack, you would have to have another faceplate to change colors. Maybe you could find a defecti've unit on Ebay for parts. I dont think you can buy the face from Creative, but you could contact support to find out. Good luck. Its probably easier to buy a new one and sell the orange Micro on Ebay.

• Zen Micro(Original/Color) Headphone Jacks: Finally Solved or N

I haven't been to these forums in a very, very long time. The last time I was here was when Creative barely released the Zen Micro Photo onto the market. I have the original zen micro without color screen and I was wondering if the infamous headphone jack issue has been fixed permenently on either of them. Have they?

rvfon wrote:
2 months ago i sent in my Zen Micro 6GB player for that particular problem. I bought it in November '05. Nope, they still don't know how to make a working headphone jack.
Wow no kidding eh? Has anyone bought a Zen Micro during 06 that has this problem?

• Zen Micro - What color did you buy? W

I got a silver one - because it was the last one left in stock...
But if i had a choice of all 0 colors in stock I would have bought a red one - cuz it would just be so different from most mp3 players out there.
How bout you?

I have the silver zen micro and this was the only color that was available in retail stores in canada ! But the silver is nice. It matches well with the white base and i needed a change from all the white i see on ipods.

• Dust behind zen micro scre

hi,
i have a 5gb black zen micro i have had it for almost 2 months. after the first few days i started to see bits of dust and stuff behind the screen! has this happened to anyone else? and is there a way to fix it's
thanks!

There isn't really any great way of removing the dust. You can try using canned air (to blow through the holes in the player, to try and shift the dust), but be warned that most canned air produces condensation which is obviously a very bad idea. There's some "flavours" of canned air that are designed for electronics (I've forgotten the exact name, but try searching old posts) and don't produce condensation.

• Zen Micro - Change the StartUp Scre

Hi all!
The box seems to be greyed out, so I cant change it Is there a tick box I didnt tick, or is this the "norm" for Zen Micro?(I hope not!)
Pete

It's a feature on the NJB3, Zen original, Zen 2.0, Touch and Xtra. It's a little bit of a flash in the pan feature though, so I wouldn't get too bothered about it being missing on the Micro.

• Zen Micro Frozen ON at Logo scre

After a problem with the firmware I upgraded it on My Zen Micro. Now it freezes at the logo screen. It wont boot up and wont turn off. HELP!!!!

Have you run cleanup in the recovery menu? Try that.
To get to this menu, take out the battery, hold the power button ON and reinsert the battery. Continue to hold the ON button for 0 seconds or so until the recovery menu appears.
Run cleaup. A window will open showing scan with a percent progress. If that just freezes, and never progresses to 00%, then you have bigger problems. You might take out the battery at that point, get back into the recovery menu and run the firmware reinstall. Have the newest firmware ready to go on your desktop.
If that fails, you probably have a dead dri've. Hold the player up to your ear when you insert the battery. You should hear the dri've, at least faintly, spin up. If it is completely silent, that is a bad sign - dead dri've. If instead, you hear some odd twangs or repeated whir/clicks, the dri've head has hung on the platter edge. There are "unauthorized" ways to free it up that often work, but if you are under warranty, send call Creative for an RMA.

An update...
I downloaded Apple's (rather large!) list of software updates today, and I was finally able to recognize my iPod again. I did a restore using the iPod updater from 06-2006, and all seemed to work OK. (I'm afraid to try the new one again!)
Then I tried to re-load my music library from iTunes, and got stuck. It froze up after a while and wouldn't go any further.
When I disconnected my iPod from my computer, I find 2 podcasts and nothing else, though iTunes told me it had transferred 600+ songs. Those 2 podcasts do play fine, and the basic iPod software all seems to be intact.
So -- anyone get through this connection problem and have any ideas to share??

• Using Zen Micro(Photo) with plain Explo

Is there a possibility to copy MP3 files simply by drag-and-drop with the Windows Explorer to the Zen Micro(Photo) so that the files are treated as MP3 and NOT as simple data files? Technically it is quiet simple to do this by using the hard disk of the Zen as an extra hard disk in Windows. Even the cheapest USB-stick based MP3-player can do this. Why not a Zen (or the iPod competition)?
I refuse to use any specific software to copy my self ripped MP3-files because I know that that software (Creative, iTunes, even Windows Media Player and other) changes things during the file transfer and I don't want any change in the MP3 files, not even a single bit!
I want to buy a Zen Micro Photo (8 GB, color screen), but I refuse to do it as long as it is impossible to crag-and-drop my MP3 files simply thru the Windows Explorer.

Yeah that's what i always did. I just drag and drop MP3 files directly into my player without using any software whatsoever.

• Zen Micro photo.....HELP?

UGH it makes me real mad some one PLEASE HELP and gimme some suggestions!!!!!ASAP

It really sucks about your player
...but it was concrete.
...and you've got a disk dri've inside there.
what do you think would happen if you dropped a desktop computer from 3 feet off the ground onto concrete?

• ZEN MICRO IS NOW DESTROYED BY

**bleep** **bleep** **bleep** **bleep**. i dismantled my zen micro while trying to fix the headphone jack and i made a stupid mistake... i didnt undo one of the small screws. this caused one of the white connectors to be ripped out of the unit when i seperated the casing from the zen. the gold connectors are all bent and mangled and some have fallen off. i am so upset at the moment and so frustrated at my stupid action.
does anyone know how <much this would cost to repair the white connector and headphone jack in it's
To creative: make your **bleep**ing products properly. I have had 2 replacement units with the same fault. I purposely chose creative over apple because i did'nt want to support them and i wanted to prove that creative is just as good, now i voided the warranty and have no chance of having it repaired or replaced again.Message Edited by coldfusion on 0-22-2006 05:5 AM

Ha ha ha! Sucess at last!
I got it working now!
I was missing a step in the second suggestion (link posted by DM) to edit the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\U SB and add "EVERYONE." Plus I didn't reboot right away! I guess that would help too. Sorry forgot to do that.
THANK YOU! The support on this fourm is wonderful! Glad to see the help is here for Creative products.

• How was Your Zen Micro Packag

I'm trying to see how common it is for the new Zen Micro design (the unit with an "Arrow" by itself on the back button instead of the text "Back") to be packaged in the old packaging (a cardboard box with a picture of an old text "Back" button unit on the front.) The newer packaging appears to be a clear plastic enclosure that allows you to see the unit without opening the package. So far I have only seen this packaging with black colored units.
Thus, I ask the following questions about the unit you own:
What color is your Zen Micro?
How was it packaged? (Cardboard box or Clear plastic Enclosure)
What version is it's (One with an "Arrow" or with the text "Back" for the back button)
Where did you purchase it's
When did you purchase it's
Thanks.
