Zen micro, connection to pc proble

I got my new zen micro today, because i had a problem with the other one, but this time its when i connect it to the computer.
I pluged in the Mp3 player and the usb and it showed on the computer "A new device has been found" and so.
and i hadnt install the Creative programs, so i installed them and Zen Micro Media Explorer couldnt find my player, only Windows Media Player started.
So i wonder if there is a way to start everthing over again, so i can install the programs and then plug in the player so its going to work like it did the first time i had the player?
I have tried to uinstall the Creative program and reinstall but it didnt work.

Hmmmm, not totally sure, but this is what I did when I first got my Micro.
(on a school computer) Inserted installation CD and installed only the Zen Micro (no, not Media Source or anything else, just the option for the Zen Micro). Chose NOT to restart my computer.
Connected my Micro to the computer. It was found and drivers installed. I then upgraded the FW on my Micro to 2.20.05.
(on my home computer) Plugged in Micro and it auto-installed the drivers. Then installed "<B>Zen Micro Media Explorer .00. for Creative Zen Micro Setup</B>". I can either use this or the default Windows Explorer to manage my music, but I use this (ZMME) to manage my Micro's playlists.
I use WMP to rip CD's to WMA or MP3 and everything works out just fine. :-D

  • Zen micro connections probl

We just changed our OS from xp home to xp professional because our technican said that our xp home doesnt support usb 2.0 When it was done I got the zen micro cd and installed meciasource, drivers, zen micro explorer and wmp 0. Our PC has 4 usb ports, 2 front 2 back. When I tried connecting my micro to the first front port it wasnt recognized and my micro locked up. I had to remove the battery to get it going again. Then I tried the other front port and it worked.
Then after a few days I connected my micro and the usual box that pops out from the system tray pops out that its connected. However in mediasource it says player not connected. I tried restarting my PC but it didnt work. So I did a disk cleanup on my micro and it was recognized by mediasource. But after transfering the first two songs it timed out on the next couple of songs. Then it transferred some songs. When it was done my player wasnt recognized by mediasource. I tried the two back ports but only one is working. The other one has the same problem as stated above.
Can anyone help me fix this? Its such a hassle to use the back port every time coz I have to move some things around the PC to acces the back ports. All usb ports are working with our digital camera. Im also afraid that waht happened to the front port that was working previously would happen to the back port and then I cant transfer any songs anymore.

    miguel wrote:
The front ports worked with the micro for a while after installing xp pro. And it was usb 2.0. On our xp home that is always updated the front ports were only usb .. So this means that our front ports are usb 2.0 right?
The de facto way to check is (a) to ensure you have XP SP, and that you've double checked in Device Manager that the chipset has automatically upgraded to USB2 (it doesn't always happen) and (b) to connect a high speed device to the port.
Our digicam and cellphone all connect on the front ports in usb 2.0 Only the micro doesnt work the front ports.
I've just written this in another post, that not all USB chipsets are made equal. Cheaper chipsets no doubt aren't fully tested or they don't comply with the full USB standard. Creative have assured that their players and drivers are completely compliant with the USB standard. BUT it could be some other bug comes into play, either with the Creative driver or the chipset and drivers. Hard to say. I've seen similar problems with iPods.
I think our usb came with the motherboard. I dont remember any pci cards. I think our mobo is intel D865GBV but im not really sure. Is there a way to know what our motherboard is?
You can use a product like Belarc Adviser, which will check the hardware contents of the PC.

  • Zen Micro connection probl

    Hi all,
I just got my Zen Micro yesterday, beautiful product, fun to use. It seems to be a little glitchy though- I have already successfully loaded about 2 gbs of music onto it, but now my computer isn't detecting the device when i plug it in. I get the windows sound when i plug it in, but Zen Micro Media Explorer fails to detect it. The screen on the player stays on the "Docked" screen (with white arrows), and locks up. I end up having to take out the battery and trying it over again, which still doesn't work. Anyone have any suggestions to get around this problem?
    some notes:
    - i am using a toshiba laptop, very fast and very new.
    - i tried the Creative Mediasource at first, but that was giving me problems, so i unintalled and reinstalled just the Zen Micro Media Explorer, which has until recently been working fine.
    - batteries full, player in perfect working condition otherwise.
i could sure use some advice...i don't want to have to send it back to creative after waiting for this player for a while!
    thanks in advance
    alex

    Absynthesis,
Have you gone into rescue mode on the player yet and tried a cleanup? This can help with the problem that you are experiencing. Instructions on this are in a sticky message at the top of this board.
Also you may want to make sure all of the drivers (motherboard drivers) for your laptop are up to date.

  • Can't Run Programs Whilst Zen Micro Connected!

    //EDIT !!!!
    CLOSE THIS TOPIC
For some unknown reasion (windows) my player is now working fine, except the headphone jack problem but i'm sure screative can sort that out for me
ell, I can. They just don't appear in the taskbar nor do their windows show up since I upgraded to 2.20.05.
    For example:
    . Run WMP. Opens fine
    2. Connect Zen Micro
    3. Run Firefox. Window does not appear. Taskbar does not appear. But it is listed in the task manager
    4. Disconnect Zen Micro
    5. Run Firefox. Window DOES appear. Taskbar button DOES appear.
And it's not just FireFox. It's the same for everything, including the installers for Mediasource AND Micro Media Explorer.
This is driving me nuts! Why can't I use my computer whilst my Zen is connected?Message Edited by r4b on -5-2005 02:36 AM

Tried diagnostic startup and didn't have any problems but I don't think the player was detected as WMP didn't pick it up ( I am running 2.20.05) and I couldn't get the device manager to show anything.
I've tried disabling ALL of my startup items, including my anti-virus, firewall and creative software to no improvement.
I'll run a full virus/spyware scan later and try after that, but I don't know if it will improve because I keep my computer VERY clean and secure

  • Zen Micro and Windows 98 proble

Hello, I just received my Zen Micro and have been trying to transfer files from Windows Media Player. I do have Windows 98, but was told it would not be a problem.
First my Micro has been charging for close to 6 hours and I am still getting the blinking thunderbolt. It doesn't seem to be getting fully charged and I am wondering if it is my computer or the battery.
I have not been able to install the creative software. The logo comes up but when I click on next, nothing happens.
I do have Media Player, but when I connect my Micro to the computer, it does not seem to recognize it and I am unable to transfer my files.
Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. I have searched the site, but nothing really hel
    ps.
Also, I have sent a email to Creative Tech support, but have not heard back yet.
    Thanks,
    Dan

I'm pretty sure it won't work under Win 98, although it might work under Win 98 SE.

  • Sorry: zen micro windows vista driver Proble

my zen is up-to-date firmware 2.2.02?connect it to windows vista 32 bits and windows says it can not find driver?why does this appens since creative says that zen micro is vista compatible.. thanks

my zen micro does not work in vista either. we both bought a crappy product.
I agree, Vista is a disappointing product, considering the time MicroSoft had to work on it. :|
I hope that they'll release a Service Pack soon to address their lack of legacy device support.

This same thing is happening to everyone I know who has a Zen Micro. Even me. I asked Creative about it and they said just return in to it's vendor or send it in for repair/return.

  • ZEN MICRO CONNECTION DETECTION & FIRMWARE PROBLEM! Please help

Last night i installed the new 'plays for sure' firmware for my creative zen micro 4gb. I have windows media player 0 and my system is running service pack 2 by the way.
The firmware installed fine and i went on media player to transfer all my music back onto the player.
This took ages! But it said it was on there ok.
Just to be sure i went into the E dri've- for the first time the player had registered there so i could check everythign went on ok.
All the music was there just fine.
I disconnected it from the PC and turned it on... and it's completely empty! I went to information in the player to check that what i was seeing was true and the player just crashed. The only way to turn it off was to remove the battery.
I have reinstalled the driver and reconnected the player and windows xp does the noise to let me know the player is connected... but it isnt being detected by media player and it doesnt come up in My Computer.
Please help asap!!! Sorry this is a long post!!!

This is the odd part. If you copied to the E dri've you must have copied to the USB mass storage area of the player (the player can be configured with up to 4Gb of USB mass storage that's ONLY for data files). The player should appear as a device in Windows Explorer for the audio part, so copy the files to that, NOT to the E dri've.

  • Zen Micro Connection Prob

    Hi,
I have a Creative Zen Micro which I have been using all the time for a couple of years now. I just upgraded my computer so I had to reinstall my Zen Micro. I couldn't find my Zen Micro CD, so I downloaded the driver from the Creative site - Creative ZEN and Jukebox Driver 2.0.00
I then installed the driver and it told me to reconnect my Zen Micro, which I did. A little bubble popped up in the corner saying "Found New Hardware" and then "Creative Zen Micro"... However, my Zen Micro is now showing up in My Computer, as it used to. It is also not recognised by Creative Mediasource.
I checked in Device Manager and the Zen Micro is seen in the Uni'versal Serial Bus Controllers section and it says that the device is working properly.
I have tried my Zen Micro on another computer and it works fine there.
I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it again, but with the same result. Is there another driver that I should be using? I tried the earlier version that was on the Creative site too, but that didn't change anything.
On my new PC I have Windows XP.
I would be very grateful for any advice you might be able to offer.

If you have Windows XP, my only advice is to roll back to Windows Media Player 0 by un-installing WMP and WMP Runtime and un-installing all Creative software on your computer. Start over by reinstalling WMP 0, then re-install your firmware, then re-install your software. Yes, you will lose your music or player content, back it up first. This is the only method that got my players up and running and connecting with my Mediasource.
    Best wishes,

  • Zen Micro Connection "the device is not connect

When I connect my Zen Micro in my computer the Zen Micro Media Explorer says that "the device is not connected. Please connect your Zen Micro to the computer" My battery is full. I read the instruction book and It said when you connect the Zen Micro in, Creative MediaSource or Windows Media Player starts up automatically... but nothing happens when I connect my Zen Micro. • Zen Micro Firmware, Drivers etc probl

Only yesterday my Zen Micro crashed and i lost every single music file i had on it (over 900) when i went to sync music back on to it WMP said that it had an unknown error therefore it could not put the music onto my player. I then unistalled the software and since i had lost the disc i got the software from the creative site however it then said my zen was not detected and would not install the software. I left it for a while and came back to fidn that when i turn on the Zen Micro it says firmware problem and brings me straight to the recovery screen. I tried downloading new firmware from the creative site and it says my zen is not detected so it cannot upload the new firmware. I have tried contacting Customer Support and they are no help what so ever so this is kind of my last resort.
    Any help is greatly appriciated
    Jonny Toye

I think that you have installed to many drivers, and there is an conflict! I will recommend that you try your player on another pc (if possible offcourse).
And i think that you have to Synchronize your player in wmp0.
To format a Zen Portable Media Center:
Connect the player to your PC
    Open Windows Media Player 0.
Click on the <B>File</B> button, <B>CDs and Devices</B>, and then click on <B>Synchronize</B>.
Select the Zen Portable Media Player in the Device pane (if you have multiple devices connected), and click on the <B>Format storage media button <IMG height=9 src="http://dmzweb4.europe.creative.com/wwimages/dap/pmc_format.JPG" width=8></B> </LI>
