Having installed the creative soft on my pc , I can't make ay change from transforming . wma file to mp3 file.All time I try to make this convertion ,from the soft windows is appearing continuosely : Add new target.Please How I can solve the problem? Do I have to deinstall the creative soft and try again to install it'sTanksGiovanni?

I don't really get what you're trying to mean. Perhaps you can explain in more details? What were you referring to as soft windows? Are your WMA protected with DRM?

Zen Micro & Creative Labor C

I purchased my Zen Micro in July after comparing it to the Ipod mini because for the same price I got an additonal gig and a player that accomodated more than just mp3 file format. When I received, I was immediately in love with it, just because of the size and appearance- to me it's a lot cuter?than the mini. I quickly became frustrated with the touch pad that sometimes worked "too well" with just the slighest little touch and other times not well at all. Then it started freezing up, which required removal of the battery to correct (couldn't turn it off to restart). Finally after 6 months, it permenantly froze, unable to get beyond the 'Zen Micro' screen, no matter how many times I removed the battery and restarted (hard disk failure or something?). So I called up creative, since it was still under warranty, only to discover that the?"labor warranty" had expired?3 months prior. 'Labor warranty? I must have missed that in my skim through the documents that accompanied it. How crappy is that- I have to pay for them to fix their defecti've product. I have never heard of such. Turns out it couldn't be fixed, i guess, so they sent a replacement. According to the warranty info online, "labor charges will apply to all warranty repairs made by Creative."? In that case, I feel I should get my $25 back because no repairs took place. My first experience with a Creative product will be my last. I am so disappointed- I thought I was getting a good deal by purchasing a Zen Micro instead of a Ipod mini, but ended up paying for that extra GB of storage capacity afterall.

I'd venture to say that very few companies have such policies. Typically, a warranty covers all cost to repair or replace a defecti've item, except for maybe the cost to ship to the manufacturer. I see it as somewhat of a scam- put out a crappy product and make even more money off of it by charging labor to fix it. And maybe if they had actually "repaired" the item, I wouldn't be such a grouch about it, but I essentially paid for them to ship me a functioning player to replace the defecti've on I purchased, whereas the warranty info that I read said there are labor costs for "repair" of a warranty item--not replacement. Slight Zen Micro/Creative MediaSource Organizer Prob

i have a 5gb zen micro and when i plug it in to add songs, it says device not found when I double click on the Creative MediaSource Organizer...but when i go to My Computer...it says that it has found Zen Micro Media Explorer and all the cords are tight and everyting
Could any one help me? espically SSR?

When I first began using my Zen Micro, Creative MediaSource worked fine. I could start my player and it recognized it right away. Then I was told I had to update my firmware and download an update to MediaSource. I did both but shortly thereafter I started having problems! Primarily, when i plug in my Micro a window pops up where I have 3 options, none of which are Creative MediaSource. The window has "MTP Media Player" across the top bar, but i havn't a clue what the "MTP" stands for. The 3 options given are "Sync your music using Napster", "Synchronize media files to this device using Windows Media Player", and "Take no action". I initialy tried "Take no action" and then opened MediaSource only to find it didn't recognize my Micro any more. I then e-mailed Creative for help and got a reply telling me to.............

In regards to your issue, you can try uninstall and reinstall
MEdiaSource with these procedures.
. Click START -> RUN -> type MSCONFIG and click OK.
2. Click SELECTIVE STARTUP and then uncheck LOAD STARTUP GROUP ITEMS.
3. Apply the changes and reboot the computer when prompted.
4. Uninstall MediaSource from the system using ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.
5. Manually delete the MediaSource folders from the computer system :
C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\MEDIASOURCE
C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\CTCDDB
C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\MEDIA MANAGER
C:\MEDIA\MUSIC
6. Right-click your My Computer icon and click Properties.
7. Click the Hardware tab and then click Device Manager.
8. Remove any listings for Creative NOMAD products in the Device
Manager
(they will most likely be located in the Uni'versal Serial Bus
Controllers category).
9. If you have a category call Other Devices, look for listings in
there
called USB Device. If you have any, remove them.
0. Install MediaSource only from the original installation CD.
NOTE: DO NOT OPEN MEDIASOURCE WHILE PERFORMING THESE PROCEDURES.
Also, you can try reloading the Zen Micro's firmware through recovery
mode.
Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert
the battery to the Zen Micro. Hold the Power button until the rescue
mode appears.
Clean Up: Performs a disk scan on the players hard disk
Format: Formats the players hard disk All contents will be lost
Reload OS: Reloads the Operating System on the Jukebox. Do not select
this option unless you have downloaded the firmware. Reloading your OS
will not effect the contents of the files stored on your Jukebox Zen
Reboot: Reboots the device
Please attempt the options 'Reboot' and 'Clean Up' first. If they do
not
help, you must try 'Reload OS'. To do this, you must have a downloaded
firmware from our website ready. Please let us know the results after
these steps, as soon as possible.
For faster service please reply with previous correspondence when
replying to this email.

I followed the directions, but 3 of the folders listed in step 5 didn?t exist (only C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\MEDIASOURCE did), there were no Creative NOMAD products listed as in step 8, and there was no ?Other Devices? as stated in step 9. I did everything else for all the steps through step 0.
I then re-installed Creative MediaSource from the CD only to find it still didn?t recognize my player! I?ve now done this twice with the same results!
Zen Micro Media Explorer doesn?t even recognize my Micro when it'ss plugged in! It just keeps saying ?The device is not connected. Please connect your Zen Micro to the computer?.
I?m hardly a tech expert, but it seems to me that something on my PC is detecting my player and decieding for itself that the only 2 programs it will let manage my Zen Micro are Napster and Windows Media Player. If this is the case where do I go from here?!?!

Just as SSR mention, if you're using v2.xx.xx (MTP) firmware then you will need to get the correct version of Media Explorer that support this firmware and also install the MTP plugin for MediaSource. Both the software and plugin are available from the site SSR mention.

Zen micro or ip

I'm so annoyed with Zen Micros, Creative really need to get their act together!
I've had 2 zens, one a photo version, and both have packed up. One lasted 3 months, the other lasted 2 weeks. I'm very tempted to replace it with a video iPod.
The thing is I really like the zen - my first one was great until it failed. And I've got a nifty set of Traveldock speakers which are brilliant, but I'm really not wanting to get another zen for it to break again....
Any thoughts?
iPods have battery issues but zens seem to have major hard dri've problems. Should I accept that it's time to join the iPod crowd?

Creative does not make the hard dri'ves that go into their players. What makes you think the hard dri've in an ipod would be so different from the hard dri've in a Creative player? Did you treat your player too roughly? A hard dri've isn't meant to endure rough treatment. It amazes me that someone would even think about jogging while using a hard dri've based player.

I've installed firmware for my zen micro, now i can't use my creative software! Please he

I wanted to download some music from napster and to play it on my player it told me I needed a firmware upgrade. I knew from buying my player that I probably would need to upgrade so I did. Once I installed the upgrade, and plugged my zen micro in and now it will only let me use windows media player? to transfer my music to my player. I hate this software as it doesn't work brilliantly, I was really happy with the creative software, but now when I plug in my micro and open the creative software it won't recognise it. I've tried reinstalling the creative software but its made no difference. Also, a box keeps coming up with something called MTP what is this? Can anyone help me with this problem? I would really appreciate it!

MTP is microsoft's media transfer protocol. Essentially, your micro can now connect to WinXP SP2 computers with WMP0 without loading Creative drivers.
The new firmware you installed allows you to drag and drop files to your micro using windows explorer. In order to use any of Creative's software, you'll need to download and install updated versions from their website.

Creative zen micro working with itunes.

for i long time i have been using the musiclibrary organisation tool provided by creative... and i have been satisfied...
but last week i discovered itunes... for all i know itunes was originally for apple products only (such as the ipod)... but i read various articles concerning this topic... and i found out that some people believe that it is possible to work with itunes and the zen mico... and here is the point: "How can i tell itunes to work with my great player zen micro?"
just to make sure that there is no offense... i liked the creative tool very much, but from my point of view itunes has got a tiny lead in inconsiderable details...

Have you try the legacy driver in this post before with WMP9? Although the Micro Photo player isn't listed in the list, other forum member has posted success with the driver so if you haven't try it yet might as well give it a try.

I read a review of the zen micro at CNET.com, and their short video clip tells me that the zen micro has line-in recording. However, nowhere does it state/mention that feature in the zen micro homepage, nor is it mentioned in any other site. I would just like to confirm that the zen micro doesn't have line-in recording...

Yep, the CNET.COM video review did mention about a line-in recording function. But maybe because that video was recorded way before the Zen Micro was actually launched, therefore there was a mix up in information. And so no, Creative Zen Micro does not have a line-in recording function. However, the Zen Neeon and Zen Nano Plus does have line-in recording if you're interested =)

is there anyway i can hook my zen micro up in the car so it plays through my speakers and radio deck? . i see they have a belkin zen thing, but is that just a holder for it for going in your cup holder? if i cant listen to my zen in the car im tossing it and getting an ipod, i have enough problems with the welding on the head phone jack... .

If you've got a cassette player in your car, you can play your micro thru that (I do it all the time) using a cassette adaptor you can get for around $20 from practically anywhere. If not, seems like you'd have to go the FM transmitter route which will cost you more (see link). If your car has a single jack port (like the one used to connect your headphones to your micro), it should work with more than just an Ipod. If you don't want to see the backing of my whole story skip to the bold print at the bottom!I also want you to know I read the FAQs and searched through some topics like this, but haven't found any asking my question.First of all, I'm new to the forum, but I've been researching Creative's Zen for a long time now. I kept observing each one closely before I purchased a product. I then saw the Zen Micro Photo come out. This one won my attention. I loved this, I quickly searched for reviews and went for the buy for Christmas. I told my dad about it and he was "iffy" on the price, but it was better then the iPod in my opinion.Christmas day came and I opened it. Right away I checked everything out I knew a lot about the menu already and all, but not really how to control it. I checked to make sure everything worked. All systems were go. After listening to the defaults (which I loved) I went to go install the software. I already had Media Player 0 and Adobe, oh and I didn't want the freakin AOL toolbar! Lol, so I installed everything else. It took forever, but I hooked it up and I installed the drivers, but as soon as I plug in the USB connector I see: "A HIGH-SPEED USB device has been plugged into a LOW SPEED USB port.After that, I switched USB ports, btu I got same message. I hit the X and then tried to charge. I got the Lightening Bolt, but no dimming of lights. I found out that this computer is not letting me install any service packs, I'm confused about that.My question:Is there anyway I can charge this mp3 player and download music onto my Zen Micro Photo without Service Pack ? Or did I just pay $250 for a really cool glowing mp3 player to be used as a paperweight? (I love this Zen and I ran the battery dead hoping that would make the charging easier).Help?

Thank you DM for responding. I am expecting problems, but it still won't allow me to charge the Zen Micro Photo or even use the Creative Media Source. I can't upload any songs or any contacts on it. I haven't uploaded anything yet, but it's not reading the USB device. When I run Creative Zen Micro Photo Media Explorer I get this message at the top of the screen: "The device is not connected. Please connect your Zen MicroPhoto to the computer. I can't organize anything or add songs... so it just makes all the programs I downloaded useless and my Creative product unusuable.ONe thing it does do though... whenever I plug in my Zen MIcroPhoto to the USB it turns it on and glows, but only shows my battery at the top with one red line and the green lightening bolt filling the battery up.After leaving it like this for two hours the green moves, but the red bar stays the same size.

Creative Zen Micro 6GB/Problems with Power Switch and Firmw

The power switch on my Zen Micro has died. I can't turn it on or off unless I 'jump start' it from a USB cable and leave it alone to go into idle shutdown. I've had this player just three weeks and this is happened and frankly I'm disgusted. But wait, my story get's worse:
So before sending it back to Creative I thought that I should at least exhaust every possible cure. First on my list? A Firmware upgrade to v2.22.05. I downloaded the program and set about installing the new firmware but halfway through the process it hung and I had to end it prematurely. Now what I had was a ZM that apparently had v2.22.05 but was not being recognised at all by my computer. Media Explorer wasn't picking up on it and neither was WMP although strangely when I connect the device it's there in the Device Manager...
So, check back with the website and it said to download an update for Mediasource and that should solve the problem. Downloaded the patch but then realised that I hadn't installed Mediasource on my computer (can't remember why I didn't though). Went back to the downloads page and downloaded Mediasource. Tried to install it but I can't. The reason? because my computer isn't detecting the ZM and I can't install it until it recognises that it's there.
As a last resort I thought that I would try to use 'Rescue Mode'. Seemed simple enough, remove the battery and hold down the power switch. Then put the battery back in and wait for the rescue screen to come up. Seems easy enough. Oh wait, I don't have a working power switch.
What I do have though, is a small piece of plastic and metal that I can't turn on, can't turn off, can't put any songs on, can't listen to, can't fix and can't be bothered with. I have a ?60 paperweight.
Anyone at all have any idea what I should do? I just want to put it all in a box and send it back to Amazon with a request for a full refund or a threat to take them to the Small Claims Court.

Although a failed power switch is not unknown, I only recall seeing two or three other cases of this. It's not common.
If WMP isn't working with the device having v2 firmware something is wrong. Unfortunately this can be difficult to fix, but take a look here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.
MediaSource won't detect the player if there's some issue e.g. WMP0 not detecting it. You can of course also try installing Zen Micro Media Explorer (Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update to be specific) which has MTP support.
Are you are presumably under guarantee, and as you bought from an Internet store, it's best to return it direct to Creative. Contact Creative Support to arrange this.

Creative zen micro please help me

ok heres the story. st time on my creative zen micro it said firmware problem...thanks to you guys and your help I got it fixed. now it says firmproblem again but when its says that it goes stright to recovery mode and when i connect it the firmware app does not reconize it and says please connect your player. I contacted creative but they said you neeed a recipt and if it said to KEEP RECIPT in big letter on the manual i would have kept it but that was about 9 months ago and they said they can't help. did i just waist $200 for nothing?

My Creative Zen Micro Needs H

Ok so heres my story, I bought this Black Creative Zen Micro about years ago, Its always worked great for me and never had a problem, then about 2 weeks ago, I wanted to put some somgs on it and when i plugged it into the computer nothing happened? The creative zen was charging but my computer didnted reconize it, so i went into the recovery mode and i Cleaned it up then i formatted it than I Reloaded the firmware, and rebooted. Then on startup it said firmware problem? so i tried to update the firmware but i got this error saying please connect your player, or something like that how can i get it so it connnects?

Creative Zen Micro won't turn

When I plug the usb into a computer, it has the charge icon in the top right corner of the screen. If I attemp to turn it on, while plugged in, the creative sceen come on, and then dissapears. When it is not plugged into the computer, I get no repsponse what so ever. I haven't attmpted to reset it. Any ideas? Thanks for your time.

Try starting the player into Recovery Mode, see if that works:
Ensure that the Zen Micro is turned off.
Remove the battery.
Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the Zen Micro. Hold the Power button until the rescue mode appears. 
The following options will be displayed:
) Clean Up (Performs a disk scan on the players harddisk)
2) Format All (Formats the players harddisk - Note: all contents will be lost)
3) Reload OS (Reloads the Operating System on the Jukebox. Note: Reloading your OS, will not effect the contents of the files stored on your Zen Micro) Caution: Do not select this option until a firmware update has been downloaded onto the PC
4) Reboot (Reboots the device).
If you can get into Recovery Mode, try the Clean Up first.

Creative Zen Micro - Is it Worth

I am looking to get my first MP3 player. I basically have 3 choices - an iRi'ver, an Ipod Nano -_-, or a Creative Zen Micro (5gb). I am hearing all kinds of problems with freezing and the headphone jack problem. My friend has had his a year and says his is fine. Should I be worried? Is it worth the risk? I am the most unluckiest person out there, solI know somethign will happen the first week.

If time is on your side TAKE IT BACK ASAP. Like you, I did plenty of research before putting out the money on an Mp3 player. I was impressed with what I read about the Zen micro so I went ahead and purchased 3. WHAT A MISTAKE!!!! I purchased them in May 2005. I've already sent player back twice for repair - and am awaiting the RMA label to send THE SAME player back again for replacement. Now the other 2 players are starting to act up. One won't hold a charge at all and when it does start it goes to the clean up screen and the other has started freezing up quite a lot. As far as I am concerned this product is a joke. I was patient with customer service, even after I was LIED to. I let them replace the product not once but twice and am actually going to see if I can't cancel the advanced RMA on the third replacement and try and get my money back on all three of the players through the replacement plans I bought on them. If I have to wait until May 2006 for the year manufacturers warranty to be up I'll stick them in a drawer and wait.
The funny (not ha ha funny, but strange funny) thing is that I bought the Zen Micro's because I didn't want to be like everyone else and buy iPods. Now I wish I had. I have a feeling I threw over $600.00 away. Not quite 7 months and almost $700.00 spent- $00.00 a month for nothing but problems - wow what a really bad investment!
If I thought Creative would buck up and do the honorable thing and give me my money back, I probably wouldn't have bothered to register and post here. But I really don't think they give a crap about me or any other poor sucker that fell for their line and bought this junk. Buyer Beware....
