Zen micro earphones don't make a connect

Hi - almost since the day I got my Zen micro I've noticed that the earphones don't quite make a connection. The problem has gotten increasingly worse to the point that sometimes I hear nothing at all. I tried other earphones and the same thing happened. The earphones that came with the MP3 player work fine in other devices - so its not the earphones... its the Zen Micro.
I was in an elevator the other day and 2 total strangers asked me how I like my Zen Micro. I said "I like it, except..." "The earphones?" they replied. It seems they had the same problem. This one guy said he had to return his Zen Micro twice. It appears to be a problem that happens often with this unit.
Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do about it's What's the point of having this device if I can't even use it's (It was bought in August and given to me in September as a gift.)
Thanks.

yes..i have been having the same problem. First it was not as bad but as time has gone on it has been getting worse as today when i was listening to it 85% of the time it was just not working. I am very disappointed as it is not the first problem i have had (USB-which i managed to fix). Can anyone pls help us with this problem?

chole,
Which explorer are you referring to that works? Windows explorer or Zen Micro Media Explorer? What's your player current firmware version? More information would be better.

• Zen Micro - Stuck in recovery; can't connect; can't upgrade firmw

I sent a request to customer service, but since I purchased my Zen 3 months ago, I'm not eligible for email support. SO, if anyone can help, I would appreciate it...since I can't do anything with my Zen right now.
I just bought into a subscription service and my 4Gb Zen Micro is stuck in recovery mode after upgrading to PlaysForSure firmware.
Here's what happened:
. Downloaded and installed Creative Zen Micro PlaysForSure Firmware update 2.2.02. Zen restarted after installation stalled. Displayed "Firmware Problem"
2. Zen connected to PC and only recognized by XP as an MTP Device MTP Device Properites:
Model Name: Creative Zen Micro
Manufacturer: Creative Technology Ltd
Firmware version: 2.2.02_0.00.65
3. Downloaded and installed Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update (ZENM_PCAPP_LB_MTP_PDE.exe) -- install failed because it never recognized my Zen, which was connected
4. Downloaded and installed Creative PlaysForSure Devices Plugin 5.00.36 for Creative
MediaSource 5 Player/Organizer (CMS5_MTP_PCAPP_LB_5_00_36.exe) -- install successful, but it never recognized my Zen, which was connected I think I need to reload the firmware but I can't get any of the firmware updates to work. None of the creative software, including firmware updates, recognizes that the Zen is connected. I have not been able to figure out a way to have XP (SP2) recognize the device so that Ican reload the firmware and use the Creative Software. WMP 9, 0 and (I tried them all) do not recognize the device when it's plugged in. I also plugged in the Zen into two different computers. Same results.
5. Tried directions on Solution ID # 4275 MP3 player not detected. Same results.
6. I've followed the registry edits suggested on Solution ID # 0053 MTP players not recognized in Windows XP and that did not fix the problem either.

It took a while, but I finally have my Zen Micro working again. I did some searching in the forums on "Firmware Problem" and that gave me some great ideas. Here's what I did.
. Uninstalled WMP and 0. Rolled back to WMP 9.
2. Edited my registry. I searched for anything related to the Creative software and deleted the entry. I just searched for the word "Creative". Restarted my PC.
3. When I plugged in my Zen, Windows recognized it, without using the MTP driver. Problem was that I wasn't be able to load a driver to use the device. So, I went and installed WMP0.
4. After installing WMP0, I plugged in my Zen and Windows recognized the device and installed a driver.
5. I ran the firmware upgrade from Creative and I was back in business.
Hope this hel
ps.

my zen micro is locked on boot..on Creative logo

i've sent an emai to creative assistance but no one reply me....
someone have the same problem?

Remove the battery. While replacing the battery switch and hold the power button in the on position. You will boot into Rescue Mode and select Clean Up. A % complete wil display and it should only take a few moments. When it's comeplete select Reboot and it should boot fine. If the player freezes while in Rescue mode or while selecting any of the options in Rescue Mode the player will need to be replaced/returned.

• Zen Micro Earphon

This afternoon when I was listening to my micro with the earphones that it comes with, the left channel of the earphones was making a static crackling noise. At first I thought it may be that my headphone jack was loose, so I pulled out anther pair. I tried those, and they sounded clear. I then switched the player off, thinking maybe that it was just "tired." I plugged the earphones it comes with back in, and the crackling noise was still there. After about 5min of trying to solve the problem, I have come to this conclusion. The left earphone crackles only when the volume is over 20, or when there is a loud part to the song in the 6-9 range. As soon as I switch the volume into the 20's, the crackling gets really intense, and when it gets to 25 it is extremely loud, but I don't listen to my music that loud anyways. If anyone knows how I can solve this without requesting a replacement pair from CL, that would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

i know, i know, but i like the creative ones because they fit in my pocket and if i lose them then i can always get my huge sony's out. i have the giant sony studio headphones. those dont fit in my pocket. and the CL ones are louder.

• I cracked my Zen Micro earphones!

On creative's shop I don't see anywhere I can purchase the creative earbuds that came with my purchase of the micro Is it really true I can't get this headset/earbud set by itself? and if that's true what sort of headset should I buy now that my precious set is gone ? Please help me!

Don't know if you can replace the earbuds that shipped with your player. (Why would you want to anyway?)
For alternates I recommend Sony's MDR-EX7SL--really comfy, don't slip/tug out, and great sound! Find them on cnet.com and get a great deal too. They run about $25-50 depending on where you shop.
Trust me, these are way better, and you will be glad to be free of the old ones!

• Zen Micro earphone jack problem AGA

as you see above.
i have already ask for waaranty exchange once and the shaky earphone jack happens AGAIN.
Oh great i have gotta go exchange AGAIN or is tere another solution?

Don't tell me you tried to shake it again just to see if it was sturdy. I doubt creative does anything to repair it. And if they do, it's not like they'll solder it better and add some epoxy to provide a better seal.

• Zen Micro Media Explorer says ' Device not connect

Brand new Zen. windows2000. Installed software from disc. I have the icon at bottom right but Media Explorer says its not connected. **bleep**!! this is a Christmas present and now we can't even use it!! Ive searched the forums but can't find anyone having this problem on win 2000. anyone? thanks

FIRMWARE applies to the device.. right? how can I load firmware if the device isn't recognized? Wouldn't my pc have to detect the player in order to write new firmware to it's?!!
I knew I should have got the Nano. I'll never get this running now in time for Christmas. Thanks alot Creative!! OH and my usb ports are fine.. lots of other devices run fine on them. I've tried both ports. Besides.. the driver shouldn't be outdated should it's I just bought it yesterday. Shouldn't the driver included with the brand new player at least get it running? AAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

• Creative zen micro earphone jack problem. does it still ex

ok im thinking of getting one also but does the newer version have the earphone jack problem still?

conor48: There have been emails copied and pasted from purported Creative employees saying that it was fixed in later revisions, but Creative Support have neither confirmed nor denied this officially on the forum.

• A way how to fix the Zen Micro head phone jack prob

Hi! I am one of the many people that purchased a Zen Micro MP3 player, I loved it until around 6 months of use, an audio shorting problem with the head phone jack, started to repeat it's self every time, that I would plug my head phone's into the Zen Micro head phone jack. After awhile, I was tired of this problem, so I just decided to never use it again, unless I could find out if the maker of the Zen Micro had a repair service. I noticed that some people had their Micro's replaced a few times under the warranty that is included with the player. I also noticed that some one created a way to fix this problem, but I wanted to see if I could find an easier way to fix the problem. Well I did end up finding an easier way to fix the problem, this is what I did.
Absolutely in all means I can't be held responsible / reliable for any unforseen thing / things, that you may or could, do to the Zen Micro, by following the instructions, which I provided. By trying what I did by following the instructions, which I provided you; you accept all responsibility to any thing / things, that may or could happen to the Zen Micro.
The Instructions:
I took a stapler pressed it down to get a used staple then I carefully inserted it in the outer part of the plastic head phone jack ring. Then I pressed the rest of the staple flat against the Zen micro. And Now I get great sound, it is at least better than, the way it was before I inserted the staple. I would suggest to always remove the staple. When you connect the Zen Micro to a computer, charging device, or any other device other than a pair of head phones. You understand that if you leave the staple inserted in the Zen Micro and don't remove it. While you have it connected to a computer, charging device, or any other device, or devices, even a pair of head phones, and some thing happens, you can't hold me responsible.
If you would like to see a photo of how it looks please reply to this message and just include your email address please. I will send it to you as soon as possible. The photo has 4 photos sized down to perfectly fit on one photo, so you can get a good idea of what it should look like.

• Zen micro ear phon

so yeah. i somehow ripped my left ear phone cord fromt he part where both of them connect. and honestly, i truely LOVE the Zen Micro earphones. Im wondering if there is anyway if i can somehow get the zen micro earphones again or something... or if there are any good earphones u guys reccommend. id like suggestions.

Hi bustamebus,
I have both the EX5's and the EX7's but they are not a patch on the Sharp MD33's I got about a month ago, they are MUCH better in the sound quality area than the Sony's, nice clear mid/treble and strong bass, not overpowering like the Sonys.
Also the EX7's sound muddled compared with the MD33's. All these phones are used on my Zen Micro, another advantage of the MD33's is that they are louder than the Sonys, I no this does not appeal to all of you out there but sometimes you can't beat a bit of volume.
The choice is your's.

• Zen Micro "USB Device Not Recogniz

Hi, I can tell from the forum that this has been discussed quite extensi'vely already but I thought I would check that I have done everything possible.
Basically, I have today received my Zen Micro, installed the software and then connected it to my computer and all I get is USB device not recognized.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the software, tried a different USB cable and socket, formatted and cleaned up the player and still nothing.
There is no other computer for me to test it on. Any suggestions?

Either a new USB cable or more likely a new PCI USB2 card. Chances are the USB card is faulty, but I can't emphasise enough how testing on another PC will clear up where the fault lies. All you need is a PC to test, whether it be a friends, other family member etc.
Also don't forget to search on "communication problem" in the FAQ post, and follow the link that takes you to for lots of troubleshooting advice.

• Creative zen micro working with itunes.

for i long time i have been using the musiclibrary organisation tool provided by creative... and i have been satisfied...
but last week i discovered itunes... for all i know itunes was originally for apple products only (such as the ipod)... but i read various articles concerning this topic... and i found out that some people believe that it is possible to work with itunes and the zen mico... and here is the point: "How can i tell itunes to work with my great player zen micro?"
just to make sure that there is no offense... i liked the creative tool very much, but from my point of view itunes has got a tiny lead in inconsiderable details...
so i'm counting on your help... hoping to get an answer soon... jok3r

Zach,
Have you try the legacy driver in this post before with WMP9? Although the Micro Photo player isn't listed in the list, other forum member has posted success with the driver so if you haven't try it yet might as well give it a try.

• My Zen Micro won't start!

Hi,
my zen micro turns on when it is connected to the computer. but it only says, "creative, copyright...." how do i get it to start again? i tried it on different computers to see if it was a pc problem but that didn't help either. then, i tried charging the battery but that didn't work. THEN, i tried removing the battery and putting it in again. yet, NO LUCK!! does this mean i have to buy a new battery for my mp3 player? HEEELLPPP ME. =)

Mine had the same problem except recorvery mode doesn't work; it'll just freeze if you select to Clean Up, Format, Reload Firmware, or reboot.
It happened to my previous Zen Microphoto also. Simply put, its junk.

• Saving Battery Power on Zen Micro(Origina

Well my original battery on my zen micro is giving my zen micro issues. Usually after about 5 minutes the battery begins to die and everything just freezes. So I've gotten a new battery everything is fine now. HOWEVER! My sister bought her Zen Micro the same time I bought mine but her battery is working fine as ever. Why is that? Isn't there a way to conserve my battery power? Aside from upgrading to the latest firmware? (NOTE: The last time I was on the Creative Boards, the firmware that gave the Zen Micro a 4 hr [around that] sleep mode). Usually, once my zen micro is done charging, it turns off by itself and I just leave it plugged it until the next time I use it. Does this affect the battery in any way? If so, would it be recommended that everytime I finish charging and using the zen micro that I take off the battery? I rarely use it, just when I go out so....yeah...respond back when you can, thanks.

Creative, it's been a few days now... I really would like to get this question answered please...
As the (red) announcement at the top of each board says, this forum is not for support, it is for user interaction. We reply to threads when we can, but it should not be expected, the forum is here so people can interact with eachother (share tips, help eachother, talk about products, and so on).
Could be your battery was failing, or if you left it without charging for long periods (stored). If you leave it charging but don't unplug it right away when it's charged it should be fine, but do you mean you're leaving it for days/weeks (plugged in) before you use it again?
