ZEN MICRO ERROR!!! HELP NEEDED

Well, I bought a zen micro and couldn't have been happier until it started freezing at startup and all I see is the logo. The recovery mode doesn't seem to do squat for the player but it still shows up. I selected each one of the options on recovery mode individually and it says it's performing the intended task, but i come back hours later to find a bald kid with a blow dryer (no results). When starting up, I listened very carefully to the internall sounds the electronics were making; a repetiti've "wurr wurr wurr" that stops after about fifteen seconds of run time.
***ANOTHER THING*** ::: My PC doesn't detect the micro when plugged in via USB either... I suspected a firmware issue but I also need help going about all of THAT and everything else...
Any information at all would be helpful. If you need specifics in order to provide me with a solution, I'll try the snot out of me to give it to you.
It would be helpfull to have a direct "conversation" via a messenger if anyone wants to try that who might have a solution.

I had EXACTLY the same problem (including the noise that quits after 5 seconds).
The HD in your ZM is kaput (*boom*). You have to send the player in to have it replaced. Depending on your warranty status, you might ot might not have to pay for that.

This is not MediaSource's issue.

The first task you need to do is to add all your songs into MediaSource's PC Music Library. After that, it is not difficult to figure out how to use MediaSource. Editing track properties and creating playlist is very simple. To transfer tracks to your devices, you need to click a button at the bottom right of MediaSource to open up another panel to facilitate the transfer.

Creative Zen Micro: Error copying m

Hi,
My Creative Zen Micro is just a day old and after transferring 20 MP3s it says error on every following track i want to transfer.
The first 20 Songs were copied but then I cant transfer any more, no matter which one i choose.
can anybody help me with this problem?

Can you try a disk cleanup on the player. To run a Disk Cleanup you need to access the Rescue Mode on the Zen Micro. To access the Rescue Mode: remove the battery, hold the power switch to the "on" position and KEEP IT HELD TO "ON" while reinserting the battery. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu. Note: Disk cleanup should not remove your tracks. It searches through the disk for files and rebuilds the index, and can be useful for correcting any strange behaviour.
Failing that, what firmware version are you using, and what software to copy?

Zen Micro Installation help...please

I just got a 5 gig Zen Micro. All was well until I attempted to install the program in the computer, which led to "Error code -600", which told me to clear my temp folder and check my internet connections. I have a cable connection, windows XP, and Norton antivirus. Does this have anything to do with my problem? If not, what am I doing wrong?
please, someone, help. I'm about to ritually disassemble my micro.

ok i found the problem.
after a few hours of googling i found that the error is caused by an outdated version of windows installer.
to fix this problem on your computer find the folder
C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield
and rename it to
C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield-old
and then run your install again that should fix your problem

Creative Zen Micro : Error w Playl

I'm having problems with transferring an entire imported playlist into my zen micro.
I've recently updated both my firmware and MediaSource to the latest version. Loaded MediaSource up and imported a playlist that i created using winamp. Then I clicked and dropped the playlist into my zen micro and a new window pops up showing the progress of the songs transferring into it. But while transferring, many of the files had Error under the Progress. Note that I am able to listen to the songs in winamp, but am unable to listen to the "Error songs" in MediaSource. Attached is a screenshot of what happened.

I've tried to create a new playlist in MediaSource, and imported the songs. But it also did not work.
Also, I found out that under My Playlists in my Zen Micro, there are many playlists named Creative Zen Micro, while the one that I've highlighted was the only one that I've created.

Went into rescue mode, reformatted the zen micro and even did a clean up. Nothing worked.
So, can anyone help me see what's wrong? Hopefully someone here can help before I email the Customer Service team again.

Yes I'm currently using 3.30.2
I've finally found the problem. My computer currently has 2 user profiles, the first one is 'Owner' and it's the directory I've saved my mp3 files at. Second one is called 'pokey' (just a nickname, don't ask why! :P) which I frequently use. So, my playlist called 'blabla.m3u' was saved under pokey, which is C:\Documents and Settings\pokey\My Documents\blabla.m3u.
I opened up my playlist using notepad and saw that it's file path was
"\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\Apocalyptica - Bittersweet.mp3"
So, MediaSource would just tag the filepath of that song as
"C:\Documents and Settings\pokey\My Documents\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\Apocalyptica - Bittersweet.mp3"
That was where it went wrong.
Now, I save my playlists under the 'Owner' profile, and it works fine. file path shows up as
"C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\Apocalyptica - Bittersweet.mp3"
which is exactly where I placed the files.
So now everything works fine. The thing is that I have to save the playlist in the same profile as where the mp3s are located at.
The error actually existed because MediaSource couldn't find the file at the designated filepath. I guess it was an error on my part.

Creative Zen Micro (Startup Failure) Need URGENT he

Hi, i was on holiday in Singapore about 2 weeks ago, and i bought myself a Creative Zen Micro from one of the local sho
ps.
It worked fine, music played brilliantly, i was happy. However, today when i turned it on, it would display the 'CREATIVE COPYRIGHT' Screen, then followed by 'CREATIVE' in large letters across the screen. It would then freeze on this screen, and the off/on button would soon become useless, which meant that i could either leave it on and kill the battery, or take it out.
When i took the battery out and in again, it would repeat with the 'CREATIVE' sign. Following the 'recovery' methods, i managed to load the screen with all the different options such as clean-up, etc etc. However, when i load any of them up, it would freeze once again and i would end up taking the battery out again.
I have tried the reset button with a pin but that doesnt do anything. I have a spare battery that does exactly the same too. My computer doesnt detect the Zen btw.
I have important documents and almost my lifetime's supply of music that took me almost weeks to rip and store into that Zen. Now that its basically dead, and i bought it in Singapore, i have basically no warranty, i feel as if i have been throwing cases of money into the toilet. I need urgent help, if theres any other ways of restoring access to my Zen.

After browsing around forums over the internet, I have found many other people complaining about this, which makes it a MAJOR flaw in the Creative Zens. Screw petty chargers and plugs, get the software right.

The problem you have is very simple, yet complicated to be solved. Your zen's hard dri've is dead. Most of the people who own a zen don't know it has a hard dri've inside. Some mp3 players have flash memory. Chances are that you've dropped your mp3 player. Zen's hard dri'ves are very sensiti've and must not be moved around too much. The way to go in this case is to replace the hard dri've. It is actually a micro hard dri've what you need. Seagate ST 5GB MicroDri've CF Type II. Once you have a new Hd installed you can format it using the zen's menu (remove the battery, hold the power button, place the battery in and wait untill you see the menu) This requires some experience formatting HD's and installing firmware. There is another option. You can buy a Patriot 4Gb Compact Flash Card, and follow what I've described above. The good thing about this is that your zen will take more vibration than the original. Getting Music on your Zen Micro player - Help- Prob

I've had a past problem getting music onto my zen. Yes, I've only had it for 3 days but I cant figure it out. I know how to put the music onto it but when I try to put it on my zen ALL the files say "Your need a license".. Is this the DRM? I have no idea how to get it to work and frankly im sick of it..
Heres my information:
MP3- Zen Micro by Creation
Program used to download songs- Napster
Program used to transfer onto zen- The program that can equipt with the zen
I dont know if thats all you need. If not tell me please. I just want to get MORE songs on the dang player... The three pre-added songs Im getting sick of listning to.. if you know what i mean.
Other than that everythings good. I just cant get the songs to add to the player!
 It would help tons if someone could go into depth about adding songs step-by-step as everywere i've looked i cant find how to fix it... Or atleast tell me how to fix it.. or what the possible problems could be.. Is it the player or the license?... Any comments? Help? please.

Creative zen micro please help me

ok heres the story. st time on my creative zen micro it said firmware problem...thanks to you guys and your help I got it fixed. now it says firmproblem again but when its says that it goes stright to recovery mode and when i connect it the firmware app does not reconize it and says please connect your player. I contacted creative but they said you neeed a recipt and if it said to KEEP RECIPT in big letter on the manual i would have kept it but that was about 9 months ago and they said they can't help. did i just waist $200 for nothing?

Zen Micro firmware help

Last night my Zen micro locked on the "creative" screen. It wouldn't power up or down. So i removed battery, held the on button and placed the batery in. I navigated to the "reload firmware option" and selected it. How long does this process take? Its been at it for 20 mins only on "erasing firmware". Any ideas/help?

It should only take a few seconds.
If functions in rescue mode aren't working properly the player is faulty.

Zen Micro not recognized-need firmw

I have the Zen Micro and I have read all through here on how to try to fix my MP3 player and everyone has a differrent solution. I need to get firmware back on my Zen Micro so I can use my MP3 player. I hae rolled back to Windows Media 0, is there some reason why it won't recognize my MP3 and when I try to put firmware in it says it isn't connected, yes I have tried doing it'sright when the screen pops up and says to update it now. Any Ideas?

Zen Micro Installation Help PLEEEAAASSSEEE

My computer does not detect my zen micro nor does the software it came with. I reset it completely- there is no firmware on it. So is it possible for my computer to detect it, even if it doesnt have firmware? Right now when i boot up my micro it goes straight to Recovery Mode. thanks sooo much for any help...

Creative zen micro error message ?

i have got a creative zen micro mp3 player but he is now giving me an error message like this:
"select music to be riproduced from library music"?
and also it does not display anymore song name and its artist during song playing.
Can anyone explain me why does it happen ? How do I solve it ? (i want song details back on? my player and i want that message disappear)

&Have you tried to clean up or re-format your player?
. Ensure that the ZEN Micro is turned off.
2. Remove the battery.
3. Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the ZEN Micro.
4. Hold the Power button until the Rescue mode appears.

I've had my Zen Micro Photo 8gb for a month & have discovered some interesting quirks: first, I don't believe mine is defecti've, though I've had problems. I have encountered freezing on both the "Zen Microphoto" logo and "rebuilding library" screen; I scoured this forum and the Knowledge Base for answers, trying all that seemed applicable?- I tried disk cleanup and reboot (leading to rebuilding library freezes), reformats & carefully reloading the latest firmware?a couple of times. I've drawn some conclusions:?) Mediasource software is not working for me; when I switched to using only Windows Media , most problems went away.2) For whatever reason, "rebuilding library" can only be accomplished while my Zen is connected to the computer - should this be the case?3) It seems like the times my screen freezes on the "Zen Microphoto" logo I may have held the "on" switch to the side a little longer than necessary; I'm wondering if this is happening because I'm holding the switch on a little too long?Anyway, I love the size, look and sound of this player, so I hope to keep using it. I run windows XP pro . sp2, its quite strange.. it should work. ! **bleep** IT SHOULD WORK ! :smileyindifferent: , and the wirld thing is. i also try'ed it on another windows XP machine at work.. and it didient work there either. im beginning to question if this is the product for me. its realy sad though, i love the zen design.. not to mention the price.
It realy realy bugs me that the zen micro photo isset supportet on windows 2000, i had this vision of syncronizing my work calender with the zen ... and now its just not possible ! unless my boss wants to give me a new laptop.. and i dont think that will happen . hehe

Zen micro problems, help! Any creative in Chi

Hi guys I'm having problems with my Zen Micro since about two weeks it has been presenting several problems I've treated my micro very carefully it has only fell once to a carpet at not much a height and I'm getting various problems. When I play music after random play all like 5 times the mp3 gets stuck and only way to reset it is removing the battery. However, when i put the battery back and i turn it on it sometimes gets stuck on the creative screen or in rebuilding library. The only way to make my micro work again is connecting it to my pc and waiting for it to turn on. I'm very concerned and I would like to try to take it to creative to repair but I don't really know if there is a creative store or authorized local in Chile. Maybe there's also another solution for my problem without taking it to repair. However, I've tried various different methods (I've entered recovery mode, done clean up, I've also formatted, upgraded the firmware, but the problem still occurs). Could this malfunction could be caused by the battery of the zen failing?

83 :: xx are all resource errors, many times related to fonts as listed on my site. The logical conclusion therefore is that you have changed something outside AE, that is added a rubbish font or updated an external component like Quicktime. Still, as the others said, it's miraculous AE runs/ ran at al lon your system and you were actually able to use it.
