I tried copying the 4 files together and each one individually the same message pops up

  • Zen Micro voice recording probl

I borrowed my roommate's Zen Micro to record some li've voice tracks. I recorded fine, and I am able to listen to them on headphones with the Micro.
The problem I am having is getting these tracks to a place on the computer where I can can make the tracks into a disc. I downloaded the software for the player from the disc that my roommate has twice now, with the same results. The Zen Micro media explorer does not recognize the player when it is plugged in, and neither does the Creative Media Source software. Windows Media Player (verion ) does recognize it, and I can download the tracks, but when I try to play them back, it just scrolls through each one and will not actually play them.
So, I have tried dowloading the software, removing it and downloading it again. I tried the old version of Media Player, with the result being that I could not view the player at all, so reinstalled version . I am running XP with SP2.
Any and all suggestions would be appreciated, as these recordings are for a gift!

Yes, you can put the recordings onto your computer in WMA format. The sound quality is great for what I use it for.

  • ZEN MICRO FM Record

I am trying to find out about the capabilities of the Zen Micro FM recording capabilities. Reading the product specs I see that FM is recorded in IMA ADPCM 22KHz format, and thats all they say. Can it be converted to MP3 or .WAV files? Can it be uploaded to my computer? Can it be ripped to CDs? What's the playback quality? The reason I want to know is that every year I go to a four day music festival that sets up a low power pirate radio station and broadcasts all of the performances. It's pretty common to record the broadcasts, and I have tapes that go back quite a few years, but I've been looking for a digital FM recorder (that I can afford) for several years now. This sounds like it MIGHT do what I want to do but the company propaganda and product specs don't address my particular requirements. Anybody know?
    Thanks in advance,
    Don

Jeremy - thank you for your reply! Lets see if I understand this correctly. The Zen Micro stores FM recordings in .WAV files, which of course I would be able to upload to my machine to slice and dice into individual tracks and rip onto CD's. My goal is to maintain the highest audio quality possible, which makes me leery of MP3s. This will be played back at home on a standard CD player at 400 wpc, and I don't wanna blow my speakers...

I've been thinking about getting a Zen Micro with one of the purposes of recording FM. Does anyone know how many hours I can record? Thank you for your help!

You can record up to 0 hour per session and when the 0 hour and up, you will have to manually start another session. Hope that hel

  • Zen Micro Audio Recording Opt

I'm shopping around for a digital music player. I noticed that the Zen Micro has an audio recording option, which will supposedly record up to 0 hours, is that correct? I was wondering if this recording would save as a file I could transfer to my computer or if I must listen to it on the device. Also, I think I read that the largest (data?) file size that can be held on the player is 2GB. Would this apply to a maximum-length recording? How big of a file would that be? Also, do audiobooks fit on the Micro? And the same questions apply to recordings taken from the radio.
    Thank you!
    Amber

I concur with college boy, additionally the voice recorder is surprisingly good quality, but the FM reciever gets, like all of the small portables I've owned, inconsistant to poor reception. This may be due to my location as I have seen posts on this forum claiming excellent reception. Either way, I doubt the recordings are anywhere near the quality you would get from downloading from your computer.
I have transfered several audio books from cd>computer>micro, and because the files from audio discs is usually encoded at a very low bit-rate 64kb or even less, they take up very little space on the micro.
One caution about audio books is that the tagging is usually very simple ie. "track 0, 02, etc so that with multi-disc books, which most are, you will either have to load one disc at a time and delete it when you are finished, or rename the tracks on discs subsequent to disc one or the new disc will replace the old one. When renaming tracks on second and third etc discs use two letters and three numbers.
For example: For John Grisham's--King of Torts, I named the tracks KT00, KT002 etc.
Audio discs are a nice complement to the music by the way. I get tired of tunes after a couple of hours and enjoy listening to a story for awhile. I listen to "Car Talk" and "A Prarrie Home Companion" on NPR on weekends.

  • Zen Micro - - - Setting Recording Lev

    Hi All,
Is there any way on the Zen Micro to adjust recording levels? Everyone knows that all CD original recordings were not created equally - some are loud, some too loud, some recorded at barely a whisper. I want to make sure that the flow of different tracks on my Zen Micro are all at the same level. Any help would be appreciated. Happy Holidays!!
    Dan S.

Thanks SSR. I tried it out and it seems that the "Smart Volume" function lowers the volume of the majority of tracks to the lowest common denominator level - meaning that louder and better cd recordings are lowered to match the less than stellar recrdings. I was hoping to boost the lower recordings to a higher level since the micro zen paired with the Sony fontopia E7 earbuds already struggles with louder volume reproduction.
With my old tape deck recorder, I could boost or lower the recording level at the source instead of manipulating the signal after it is recorded.
    Thanks.

  • Zen Micro & FM Transmitter Prob

I noticed that the Zen Micro does not work well with the I-Ri'ver FM transmitter. The MuVo works fine with this transmitter. What is up with this? I need an FM transmitter that really works, my 2006 car does not offer a cassette deck just CD.

I can't see why there would be a difference. What do you mean "does not work well"?

  • Zen micro cd installation prob

hi i recently purchased a zen micro. when i try to install the software from the cd i pick the region and the language and then an error comes up saying the "demoshield player has encountered a problem and needs to close". this happens evry time and i have tried it on 2 differernt computers. has anyone experienced this and how did you fix it's

You can try downloading each individual piece of software required from the download page instead. You need the following:
. Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03
    2. Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2
    3. Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource
Install . then connect the player to the PC. Then install 2 (which needs the player connected for verification) followed by 3.
You can also download Zen Micro Media Explorer as well.

You will need the playforsure firmware for vista to recognize the Micro. You will need to update the firmware from a machine with windows XP. Then vista will recognize the your Micro. If your player has the old firmware there is no way to?update it in Vista.?

  • Zen Micro Car Connection Prob

Okay so i bought a cable for my Zen Micro 5gb Black, that is RCA audio to headphone jack. I have a pioneer headunit (aftermarket) which has the RCA audio jacks on the back. My problem is that when i plug this in and play my zm, it plays no matter what else is happening, with whatever else is on, like a cd and my zm or the radio and my zm. Plus i cant control volume through my headunit, only through the zm volume control. Anyone know of any simple and hopefully free ways to fix this? I dont have an aux. in, just the red and white RCA audio jacks. Id really like to be able to just have the zm play, and i control the volume and such through the head unit.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rug

The car stereo does have a "source" button which i use to switch back and forth from radio to cd and such. However, it doesnt find the RCA audio connection as a source, which is very strange. I took out the cd, and plugged the ZM into the RCA connection, and hit source and nothing happened. The other problem is i already have XM satillite radio with a rf modulator hooked up into the headunit so i cant use another modulator. The only soulution i can think of is to get some kinda RCA audio a-b switch and plug both the zm and the sattilite radio into its modulator. I dont know if anyone makes something like that though...thoughts?

  • Zen Micro Media Connection Prob

I have a zen micro, I just updated the firmware so nothing is currently on my Zen. I went to import music to my zen with the Zen Micro Media Explorer, and it says my device is not connected. Now, my computer recognizes the device because it shows up as connected under my computer and I can import music that way, but its much easier and faster if I was able to use the Media Explorer and that is not working. Any suggestion? Thanks

Did you also update to a newer version of the Media Explorer?

  • Weird Zen Micro Heaphone Jack Prob

    Hi,
I have owned my zen micro for over a year, and love it! Recently, the sound started spitting in and out, so i replaced my headphones. Unfortunately, that didn't work, but I realized that if I press firmly on the heaphone's wire, and wrap it around the corner right next to the headphone jack, the sound works ok, as long as i dont move the wire... I have had to get the headphone wire "into position" and then wrap the wire <EM>tightly </EM>around the micro, or just hold it awkwardly, to get decent sound.
The headphone jack itself seems to be loose. By holding the wire tightly and pulling towards the corner, I seem to be getting the jack back into position. My question is: How do I tighten the jack? I am not an internal tinkerer (i just wrap my headphone wires around it as a solution!), and I dont feel comfortable opening the micro up and trying to tighten it myself. Does anyone know of a way to get this problem fixed?
    Thanks!
    Mike

The infamous headphone jack problem is quite common with micros. Since creative is aware of this problem they might fix it for you even though you're probably past warranty. get in touch with customer support and see what they can do (mention that it is a common problem!).
If they're not willing to cooperate use the search function in this forum. I remember a guide to soldering the jack in place and one or two other methods.

  • HELP! Zen Micro 6GB Firmware prob

My first problem is that my Zen Micro has a firmware problem. After it shows the "Firmware Problem" message it goes to the recovery menu. I've tried "Clean Up" and "Format All" but I am still unable to use my Zen Micro. The second problem is that the firmware upgrading software won't recognize the Zen Micro. I can still sync music to my Zen with Windows Media Player but the program used to update the firmware will not recognize it. I'm running Microsoft Windows XP SP 2 on a Toshiba Satellite M40X. I've also tried updating the firmware on another desktop computer running Microsoft Windows XP SP 2 but it still will not recognize the Zen Micro. I've tried installing drivers yet the program still won't recognize my Zen Micro. Is there any other way to get the firmware onto my Zen Micro or am I out of luck?

Bump. I sent an e-mail to Creative and they were of no help. They told me to send it in and that I would have to pay for it. Is there any other way to install the firmware, or possibly better drivers that I could download other than the ones from Creative's website.

  • Zen Micro memory space prob

I have deleted all of the files I could possibly find on my Zen and it still says I only have 762MB of space out of 5839MB. I'm extremely frustrated, I've tried everything I can think of (which isn't much as it turns out), and I am most definitely not a technical person. Please help if anyone knows a possible solution.
    Thank You,Candace
