Zen Micro FM Tuner Quest

I am looking around for a MP3 player & I like the looks of the Zen Micro. I notice that it comes with a FM tuner. I know you can listen to radio stations, but will the FM tuner be able to broadcast the music I have stored on the Zen Micro to my car radio like the Ipod does with its external tuner? If not, is this even an option with the Micro & if it is which product will I have to buy to make this happen?

You would have to buy an FM Transmitter in order to play your Zen Micro MP3's on your car stereo in the way that you want. The FM Tuner just allows the Micro to play FM stations.

  • Zen Micro FM Tuner --

Just bought a Zen Micro. Was glad that Creative has maintained their impeccable audio quality in this new player but things are way different with the built-in FM tuner. The reception was horrible, no matter how I position it and how I move the earphone cables around, I just cannot get a good reception - there's always static/white noise in the background. The other FM tuners I have receives just fine. Is there going to be a fix (firmware or otherwise) for this otherwise great player?

Do you li've next to a radio tower by any chance?
I knew trhe FM tuner wouldn't be amazing but it get's the job done. Stations with good reception will generally come in clear through the Micro. It's not something that should totally surprise you, every review mentioned the fact that the Micro got moderate to poor reception.

  • Zen Micro & I-Tunes music transfer

My DH just bought me a Zen Micro. I have already amassed quite a collection on my computer (Toshiba-Satellite Running XP) I have amassed this collection via I-Tunes. When I have tried to transfer my folders from my I-Tunes library to the Creative Library... I was told Creative doesn't recognize the format in which they are in. I-Tunes show they are MP4's and I have changed the settings on Creative to recognize all the available types of sound files. So does anyone know of a converter for this type of problem or am I just up a creek without a paddle? Thanks! - gjkecarlson

The key here, is are they from the iTunes Store or just encoded from your own CDs?
If they're from the iTunes Store then you can either burn to CDRW and rip again as MP3/WMA, or use JHymn (Google the name).
If they're from your own CDs and without protection iTunes can convert them to MP3s. This is probably the easiest option. I'm not sure if MediaSource will, but there's loads of others that can failing iTunes.

  • Help with my Bran-New Creative Zen Micro Photo. [Questi

<EM>If you don't want to see the backing of my whole story skip to the bold print at the bottom!</EM>I also want you to know I read the FAQs and searched through some topics like this, but haven't found any asking my question.First of all, I'm new to the forum, but I've been researching Creative's Zen for a long time now. I kept observing each one closely before I purchased a product. I then saw the Zen Micro Photo come out. This one won my attention. I loved this, I quickly searched for reviews and went for the buy for Christmas. I told my dad about it and he was "iffy" on the price, but it was better then the iPod in my opinion.Christmas day came and I opened it. Right away I checked everything out I knew a lot about the menu already and all, but not really how to control it. I checked to make sure everything worked. All systems were go. After listening to the defaults (which I loved) I went to go install the software. I already had Media Player 0 and Adobe, oh and I didn't want the freakin AOL toolbar! Lol, so I installed everything else. It took forever, but I hooked it up and I installed the drivers, but as soon as I plug in the USB connector I see: "A HIGH-SPEED USB device has been plugged into a LOW SPEED USB port. After that, I switched USB ports, btu I got same message. I hit the X and then tried to charge. I got the Lightening Bolt, but no dimming of lights. I found out that this computer is not letting me install any service packs, I'm confused about that.My question:Is there anyway I can charge this mp3 player and download music onto my Zen Micro Photo without Service Pack ? Or did I just pay $250 for a really cool glowing mp3 player to be used as a paperweight? (I love this Zen and I ran the battery dead hoping that would make the charging easier).Help?
    My Specifications:
My Mp3 Player: Zen Micro Photo (Black)What I tried: Switching USB ports and re-installing Service Pack Software: Not sure how to determine firmware without installing something. I'm on a XP Professional and I'm using the Creative Media Source and Creative Media Toolbox

Thank you DM for responding. I am expecting problems, but it still won't allow me to charge the Zen Micro Photo or even use the Creative Media Source. I can't upload any songs or any contacts on it. I haven't uploaded anything yet, but it's not reading the USB device. When I run Creative Zen Micro Photo Media Explorer I get this message at the top of the screen: "The device is not connected. Please connect your Zen MicroPhoto to the computer. I can't organize anything or add songs... so it just makes all the programs I downloaded useless and my Creative product unusuable.ONe thing it does do though... whenever I plug in my Zen MIcroPhoto to the USB it turns it on and glows, but only shows my battery at the top with one red line and the green lightening bolt filling the battery up.After leaving it like this for two hours the green moves, but the red bar stays the same size.

  • Zen Micro Car charger quest

Will the official Creative Car Charger allow you to use the Zen Micro if the battery is completely dead? I bought a cheap usb car adapter and it doesn't seem to work correct at all. I am looking for a way to power the Zen Micro in the car if the battery is drained- I am assuming from Creative's product description you can use their adapter to power the Zen in the car if the battery is completely drained.
We really like the Zen micro but have had continous problems with the battery. I've updated firmware and have done everything recommended in the FAQ in regards to conserving the battery. My wife primarily uses the Zen in the car to replace her cd's. It is not used that often (maybe 2-3 hours a week) but seem to not hold a chage at all. The only way we have found to fully charge the unit is through the usb port on our computer. So basically we are looking for a way to power the Zen in the car regardless if the battery is charged.
    Thanks,
    Scott

I'm pretty sure if the battery is dead the Micro won't work even if plugged in. I remember trying to use a demo unit at a store and the battery was dead. They plugged it into its charger and it still wouldn't work. It said it was charging but the battery had to build up a charge before it would work.

  • Zen Micro play delay quest

I received my Zen Micro and I found there to be a time delay between when the unit is turned on and showing the last track where I last left off to when that track can be played. In other words, when I turn on the unit and get to the screen with the info of the last track & time where I left off, the play/pause button does not function till about 0 seconds later to play that track (even though all the other buttons work, eg: volume, menu, next/previous track). Just wondering whether this play delay is normal.
Thanks, I appreciate any response!Message Edited by Montauke on 0--2005 04:20 AM

Rahul: If it's rebuilding the library then why would other buttons function? Also corrupted files are unlikely to slow things down. Typically they just fail to work, or cause problems during actual playback.
In reply to the original post I suspect that it's perhaps just the way it works, it might take some time to seek to the right position in the file. I also suspect it's something that needs some optimisation. Out of interest, how many files do you have in the queue?

  • Zen Micro USB Charger quest

I have a Zen Micro 6gb. I also have a Belkin travel kit that I bought for my Sony PDA. The kit comes with a cable that connects to the PDA on one end and the USB on the other. It also came with a auto and home adapter. The adapters have a USB port so that the USB end of the cable plugs into the adapter and it becomes a charger.
My question is does anyone think this may work for my ZM. If I plug the USB cable from the ZM into the auto or home adapter, would it charge the ZM without damaging it.
As info the specs on the adapters are:
    Auto
    Input : 2 - 24Vdc
    Output: 5.5Vdc; 700mA
    Home
    Input: 00 - 240VAC; 0.3A
    Output: 5.5Vdc; .0A

  • Help!! Zen Micro FM Tuner not workin

Hi all, Just recently I tried to listen to the radio on my Zen and it won't recieve any stations. It doesn't pickup any signals at all. It scans but comes up with nothing. It used to work fine but hadn't used it in a while and now this!
Has anyone had a similar problem and if so was it fixable?
I reinstalled the latest firmware and that didn't help.
    Cheers?

Perform the recovery mode first in your unit.Afterwhich, scan the radio frequency again but try to do it on an open area to get a good signal.
If this doesn't rectify the issue, contact our Customer Support in your region.
    Hope it helps.

  • Zen Micro Voice recording quest

    Hey,
I dont have a Micro yet, but if i were to get one, it would be mostly for the voice recording function, as I would use it to record my voice for rapping or poetry. Now my question is this, is it possible to get your voice recording off the micro? ie, can u save it on your computer's hard dri've as a wav or mp3. also whats the sound quality of it's
thanks for any answers u can provide me with that will assist me in making a decision.

Yes, you can put the recordings onto your computer in WMA format. The sound quality is great for what I use it for.

  • Can MP3s from the zen micro be played using an FM tuner like the ipod

where can we get an accessory like the ipod's wherein we can play music from the zen micro on a car stereo/home stereo using an FM tuner wherein the micro itself will work like a remote control? thanks a lot.

Anywhere. Belkin makes the Tunecast FM tuner -- just make sure to get the TunecastII with the LCD selector.

  • Zen Micro- CHINESE Language Display quest

Hi, i am looking to buy a Zen Micro really soon.
but i have a question regarding it displaying CHINESE CHARACTERS.
does anyone have problems doing so, or any suggestions or warnings?
do i have to have CHINESE Windows for it to work?
    thanks.

I have mp3 files with ID tag information in traditional Chinese and the information displays on my Zen Micro without any problems. If you are using WinXP then you don't need a Chinese version - English WinXP is capable of displaying and manipulating Chinese data. Note that on WinXP you need to set default character set for non-unicode characters to either traditional or simplified Chinese, this setting should match the setting on your Zen Micro or you'll end up with gibberish.

  • Zen Micro EQ questi

My Zen Micro was purchased in Nov 04. I downloaded and installed new firmware in Jan 05. Now I transfer my music directly from my computer's WMP0 files, and use no Creative software. Works fine, I'm very pleased with this wonderful player. I have some questions for SSR or Jeremy, or please direct me elsewhere...
Question #: I'm sometimes able to play songs with "EQ off". Other times I need to use the pre-set EQ settings. The two I most often use are "Classical" and "Vocal". Please, tell me what the 5 EQ setting numbers are for each of these two pre-set choices.
Question #2: The fi've frequency settings in my unit's Custom EQ are 80, 250, k, 4k, and 3k Hertz (Hz). Let's say I want to improve or reduce a sound frequency of 800 Hz... Do I adjust ONLY the 250 Hz setting? Or do I adjust ONLY the k (,000) Hz setting (closest to the frequency I want to change)? Or do I adjust BOTH the 250 and k Hz settings?
    Thank you for your assistance.

    Thanks, SSR.
As to Question , who would I contact at Creative Labs? My free help days are long gone. Would they consider this "proprietary information"? My WMP0 EQ has 0 frequency settings, twice as many as my Micro. It also has a "Classical" and an "Opera" pre-set, but the settings are spaced differently.
I've "guesstimated" what the Micro settings might be, using the WMP0 settings, and I'm close, but I'm also off a little bit... Hence, Question #2...
God, I hate reinventing the wheel...

  • Zen Micro remote quest

I've been looking at players and liked the Micro and Neeon,as it seems the Neeon's been phased out in favour of it the Micro seems the one for me.
My main requirements that most players seem not the feature were a remote so I don't have to keep fishing the thing out and really would have prefered a player with Flac or other lossless support, but I guess mp3 will have to do.
The question I have is regarding the remote,I was happy when I finally discovered it has one as an optional extra and that closed the deal but I have one question.
On the Cnet review for it , http://computershopper.com.com/Creative_Zen_Micro_5GB/4505-6490_7-35927-3.html?tag=nav
    they claim
"Everything that comes in the box (plus the optional wired remote) matches."
The picture also shows a much cooler looking remote than the one in the shop, that I take it has the same colour as the player you choose.
    Are they not available?

The wired remotes for the Zen Micro are not available in the same full range of colours that the player is, but you can get it in black and white. You didn't mention what region you're in, but here are a few links:
US online store (they have it available in Black/Black, Black/White and White/White)
European online store (available in Black or White)

  • Zen Micro - headphone jack & firmware quest

. my headphone jack is seriously wiggling, producing that static-ky sound that often only comes through one channel. and apparently, many others have the same problem. i am thinking about sending it back to creative for an exchange, but would it be worth it's and how long would that take? in the meanwhile, i have inserted a thin-but-thick-enough slice of plastic so the jack won't jiggle. and it works fine now, but i don't know if i want my micro like this forever.
    2. i want to uninstall the playforsure firmware for wmp0 so that i can just use the original interface, but is the only way to do that (and keep my songs in there) to install ANOTHER download that enables me to use both the original and the upgrade?
    thanx

I recently got a replacement Zen Micro after the headphone jack went on the first one (had to be wiggled to get proper sound...like a contact problem). Anyway, today I got the replacement and it's got a completely different facia on it so I don't if it's a newer revision that may have the headphone jack sorted too. To describe it's got bigger symbols on the touch pad. The back button is now simply an arrow instead of an arrow saying "back" and the menu button features an arrow pointing down instead of at a north-east angle.
I returned mine to Amazon and they had the replacement to me within 5 days. They send it straight away and you don't have to wait for them to recieve the old one first. But then it'll depend where you bought it.

  • Charging Zen Micro battery quest

    Hello all,
I went to charge my Zen Micro 5Gb last night. Plugged the usb end into the Micro and put the plug in the wall socket and the Zen showed it was charging, but I had caught the lead between the li've and neutal pins of the plug, so it wasnt flush in the wall socket.
I unplugged, moved the cable and plugged back in (a matter of no more than 5 -0 seconds) and the Zen did nothing, just a blank screen.
Pulled the plug out again and waiting this time before plugging back in and all went well, 3 hours later all charged.
I assume I spiked the battery? Could I have done any harm to the battery or player?
    Any replies would be appreciated.

I guess at worst you might have had an intermittent connection, which in turn might have damaged the player (constant "spiking", as you mentioned).
If the player is fine though it sounds to me like it didn't suffer any damage.
