Zen Micro frozen on the creative scr

My zen just froze at the creative startup screen and doesn't do anything after that. I tried resetting the battery, clean up mode and reboot. It just freezes again. I saw a lot of posts regarding zen freezing but no replies. can somebody help pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee? I did not want to reload the firmware because my computer doesn't recognize the zen either so then i would have no way to reload it on to there.

Mine did this exact same thing... I ended up having to send it back..and im now waiting to get it back fixed!

  • Zen Micro locked up on "Creative" scr

My new Zen Micro is locked up on the screen that just says "Creative". I can't get it to do anything. I've removed the battery and tried the recovery directions. It will get me to the recovery menu but after selecting a function it just sits there. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Happened twice on the first two I had... I have still, serious issues with my third. I am contemplating abandoning ship..

  • Creative Zen Micro - Stuck on the Creative lo

    Hi,
My Zen Mirco stopped working yesterday and now i cannot get passed the Creative logo and it wont even turn off.
I can get into the system restore screen and that does nothing aswell.
Searching the forums this seems to be not unusual and am looking to see if there is a fix for this or is my Zen broken for good?
    Hope someone can help, Thanks.

Well searching these forums for 30mins or so think got the answer. If you can hear the HDD then give the Zen a few hits on a table and it should start up. I did this for about 0mins or so and it got it working. It's now stuck on the track i went down on. So i'm gonna reboot it all and hopefully that will get it sorted back 00%

  • Zen Micro frozen with the word the "Creative" stuck on the scr

Yesterday, whil listening to music, my Zen froze up (understand, I just bought this a week ago). So. I tried to shut it off. Nothing. So. I took the battery out. When I put it back in, the word "Creative" stays stuck on my screen. I've tried taking the battery back out, putting it back in. Still the same thing. So. I tried hocking it back up to my computer. It doesn't even acknowledge the device. Nothing is working. What should I do?

    Brenda,
Can you try getting the player into Recovery Mode? If it can't do that either, it's possible there is a hardware problem with the player (contact Customer Support for assistance). If you can get into Recovery Mode, try the Clean Up first.

  • Creative MediaSource won't recognize my Zen Micro all of the sudden!! What is going o

When I first began using my Zen Micro, Creative MediaSource worked fine. I could start my player and it recognized it right away. Then I was told I had to update my firmware and download an update to MediaSource. I did both but shortly thereafter I started having problems! Primarily, when i plug in my Micro a window pops up where I have 3 options, none of which are Creative MediaSource. The window has "MTP Media Player" across the top bar, but i havn't a clue what the "MTP" stands for. The 3 options given are "Sync your music using Napster", "Synchronize media files to this device using Windows Media Player", and "Take no action". I initialy tried "Take no action" and then opened MediaSource only to find it didn't recognize my Micro any more. I then e-mailed Creative for help and got a reply telling me to.............
Thank you for contacting Creative Technical Support.
In regards to your issue, you can try uninstall and reinstall
    MEdiaSource with these procedures.
. Click START -> RUN -> type MSCONFIG and click OK.
    2. Click SELECTIVE STARTUP and then uncheck LOAD STARTUP GROUP ITEMS.
    3. Apply the changes and reboot the computer when prompted.
    4. Uninstall MediaSource from the system using ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.
    5. Manually delete the MediaSource folders from the computer system :
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\MEDIASOURCE
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\CTCDDB
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\MEDIA MANAGER
    C:\MEDIA\MUSIC
    6. Right-click your My Computer icon and click Properties.
    7. Click the Hardware tab and then click Device Manager.
    8. Remove any listings for Creative NOMAD products in the Device
    Manager
(they will most likely be located in the Uni'versal Serial Bus
    Controllers category).
    9. If you have a category call Other Devices, look for listings in
    there
called USB Device. If you have any, remove them.
    0. Install MediaSource only from the original installation CD.
NOTE: DO NOT OPEN MEDIASOURCE WHILE PERFORMING THESE PROCEDURES.
Also, you can try reloading the Zen Micro's firmware through recovery
    mode.
Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert
the battery to the Zen Micro. Hold the Power button until the rescue
    mode appears.
Clean Up: Performs a disk scan on the players hard disk
Format: Formats the players hard disk All contents will be lost
Reload OS: Reloads the Operating System on the Jukebox. Do not select
this option unless you have downloaded the firmware. Reloading your OS
will not effect the contents of the files stored on your Jukebox Zen
    Reboot: Reboots the device
Please attempt the options 'Reboot' and 'Clean Up' first. If they do
    not
help, you must try 'Reload OS'. To do this, you must have a downloaded
firmware from our website ready. Please let us know the results after
these steps, as soon as possible.
For faster service please reply with previous correspondence when
    replying to this email.

    "Get Creative"
I followed the directions, but 3 of the folders listed in step 5 didn?t exist (only C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\MEDIASOURCE did), there were no Creative NOMAD products listed as in step 8, and there was no ?Other Devices? as stated in step 9. I did everything else for all the steps through step 0.
I then re-installed Creative MediaSource from the CD only to find it still didn?t recognize my player! I?ve now done this twice with the same results!
Zen Micro Media Explorer doesn?t even recognize my Micro when it'ss plugged in! It just keeps saying ?The device is not connected. Please connect your Zen Micro to the computer?.
I?m hardly a tech expert, but it seems to me that something on my PC is detecting my player and decieding for itself that the only 2 programs it will let manage my Zen Micro are Napster and Windows Media Player. If this is the case where do I go from here?!?!

    LakeTahoeGuy,
Just as SSR mention, if you're using v2.xx.xx (MTP) firmware then you will need to get the correct version of Media Explorer that support this firmware and also install the MTP plugin for MediaSource. Both the software and plugin are available from the site SSR mention.

  • Zen Micro, Screen stuck on Creative logo, free

I was jogging recently and my Zen Micro fell off the pants clip i had on. When i picked my micro up off the ground the song i was listening to, was still playing, and played for another minute, before the micro shut off completely. It then would not turn on with the power button. So i removed the battery, and put it back in, and the micro came on, and the 'creative' logo was the only thing on my screen. With the logo on the screen, my micro wouldn't do anything, and just freezes. Anybody know how to resolve this predicament that im in? Or anybody have this happen to them, and know how to fix it's? I would appreciate any help i could get, Thank you in advance!

You can always try removing the battery and seeing if it reboots correctly, after you tried the Rescue Mode options.
The last option before sending the player in would be a firmware update.
    Cheers,
    Jan.

  • Zen Micro 6GB Frozen to the Starting Scr

I haven't opened my Zen Micro 6GB about 2 months after I received it and when I try to operate it, it stays frozen to the screen with "Creative, Copyright(c) 2004, Creative Technology Ltd, All Rights Reserved" and stays like that forever.
I even tried removing the battery, holding the power to on, and placing the battery back in and nothing is happening.
Can you give me some pointers? Or should I so a warranty exchange?

tried giving it some more power? It could just be lacking battery....

  • Zen Micro frozen at 'Creative' Scr

    Help !!
Life without my music is going to be tough - need assistance here !!
Basically, my Zen Micro has frozen at the Initial 'Creative' Logo screen ..... won't go any further than this. Tried taking the battery out and putting it back in again - but to no avail.
I can get the to the Rescue/Recovery screen, and tried rebooting - no joy.
Currently it's sititng at Scan Disk, but it has been sitting there for about /2 hr now without any apparent progress.
Reluctant to try any of the other Rescue options at this stage, as I am quite scared about losing all the tracks I have put onto the player.
As far as I can recall, the Firmware is .0.8 (basically firmware hasn't been upgraded since I bought the player back in April).
Any help in getting me back to listening to my tunes would be greatly appreciated.

As per the FAQ post, if you can't get functions in rescude mode to work the player is faulty. You need to contact Creative Support to get the player replaced, contact links are also in the FAQ post and also available via links on this page.

i tried following the guide before but nothing worked, unless i missed something in the guide.. its all a bit confusing :S,
If you can let me know what's confusing I'll have another look at it.
Basically can you get into rescue mode and run a disk cleanup? That's the first thing to try.
If you can't get into rescue mode the player is faulty.
i think the relati've did buy it with a credit card...
also how do i contact the support to get info on sending back my micro and getting it fixed or replaced.
could you give me an email? or a number for a belgian support line?
Just follow the link on this page (click Support > Contact Customer Support) it will guide you to the right contact details.

  • Zen Micro Frozen Scr

I power-on my Zen Micro as I usually do. The player turns on but i can not navigate through the player because the touchpad does not seem to be registering. Then, powering-off does not work either. I must remove my battery in order to turn player off.
When I boot into Recovery Mode, it is the same issue. I believe my device is defecti've but Creative just recently replaced it approx. 2 months ago.
Is there anything that I can do?

I have the very same problem! About 2 months ago my Zen Micro?broke (after having it for 3 to 4?months). I took it back to the store, they send it to the factory and i got a brand new one free of charge. This was about a month ago...today i wanted to turn it on and it just froze and i have to take the battery out if i want to turn of the player. This is ridiculous, i haven't done anything weird with it, i have a protection skin around it and it's only month old! I have been very carefull with it. Im thinking of going back to the story and ask? for my money back....im done with MP3 players,? i miss the CD players!?

  • Zen Micro Frozen on " Zen Micro " scr

    HELP
!!! My Zen Micro will not boot up past the screen that reads Zen Micro. I tried shakeing it as I read here but that didn't work I also tried the tapping on the side and that didn't work either. What can I do? Thanks

FIRST OF ALL STOP HITTING IT!!!
It is a HARD DRIVE player!!!
This means hitting it may cause the HD's head literally CRASH on the disc completely and uterly destroying it!!!
Now, if it isn't already too late try this:
    Remove the battery.
Move the switch to the "on" possition and KEEP it there while putting the battery back and it boots until it shows a "Recovery Menu" screen.
    Then Select the FORMAT function.
CAUTION, THIS WILL DELETE EVERYTHING ON THE HD, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BACKED UP EVERYTHING!!!
    Then select the reboot.
If it stiLl doesn't work download the latest firmware ( or 2 version, depending what you had before, if you don't know which one to use I'd suggest DLing FW version ..0) from
    http://www.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/
and save it on your PC in the location you will easily find it ( e.g.
    Desktop).
Then do the same thing to get back to the Recovery Menu screen but this time select Reload Firmware from the Recovery Menu and follow the on-screen instructions on your player. This will take a few minutes. BE PATIENT and DO NOT DISCONNECT your player
during the process. IF YOU DO YOU'LL COMPLETELY BRICK YOUT PLAYER!!!
    Once completed select Reboot.
If it still won't work take it back to Creative...

  • Zen micro frozen - please he

my zen micro seems to be hosed. i am currently travelling in NZ and will continue to travel for the next 3 or more months, so my music was pretty important to me, any advice would be helpful.
    here's the situation:
currently the micro tries to boot up, hangs on the CREATIVE screen, and then goes directly into safe mode every time. it froze up a few times on me a while back (about a month ago), and then would hang when it was trying to boot up (just as it is now), but the fix i found for it was to boot up into safe mode, run a disk cleanup, and then after that it would boot up just fine and work. this time around though, it froze while it was playing a song, so i rebooted it by taking out the battery (which is the only way to shut it off in such a case that i've found, and of course i tried shutting it off with the switch) and tried to boot it back up. it booted straight into safe mode (where as normally you have to hold the on switch to 'on' while you put the battery back in to get to this mode), and when i selected disk cleanup, it prompted me to do the cleanup, as normal, and then did nothing at all (re: no screen with % completed) and was right back on the safe mode menu. i then tried booting into safe mode the proper way (holding down the on switch while putting in the battery) and tried disk cleanup again, and this time it did it properly (re: with % complete), and then rebooted it and it worked properly. well, properly for about 2 and a half songs, then it froze again. this entire scenario was repeated two more times, and now it does nothing but boot into safe mode every time. when it automatically boots into safe mode (after hanging on the CREATIVE screen), i can chose disk cleanup, and as i mentioned before, it prompts me, but does nothing after i select 'yes' (re: no % completed). when i boot it into safe mode (by holding the on switch and putting in the battery), and chose disk cleanup, it prompts me, i select yes, and it does display another screen which says 'scanning', or something close to that, but also displays no % completed, as it seemed to when it worked. my only options in safe mode are disk cleanup, reboot, format hard dri've, and reload firmware. the latter two choices would seem to erase all my music, which is not really an option since i am far far away from all my original music. i even tried taking the battery out for about 2 hours to see if that would clear out whatever temp memory it has, but that didn't do anything either.
has anyone had this problem? any thoughts? help in a timely fashion on this would be greatly appreciated as being online costs me money, which i don't have much of as i'm traveling around.
on a side note, i have to say this problem disappoints me greatly. this is my second creative mp3 player, and both have no broken in some way. very, very frustrating!
    thanks all.

  • I Thought The Zen Micro Came With The AC Adapter

I bought a zen micro two days ago, and I was suprised that I didnt find an AC adapter after reading a couple of reviews saying that came with them. Does anyone have a link to one? I will only buy a creative product. I dont want aftermarket. Thanks in advance

Newer Zen Micros don't come with the AC adapter; mine didn't. (Creative took it out as a cost-cutting measure when they reduced its MSRP, though you might still be able to find units with the charger, especially at Wal-Mart if the reports here are correct.) You can charge it with your PC and the USB cable, or buy a charger; Creative's charger is sold at this site's shop for $29.99 plus $2.99 S&H (see the link from the guy who posted just ahead of me).
I see you only want the Creative charger, but just for reference, I understand aftermarket chargers for most Blackberrys, or Motorola MPx200 or RAZR V3 phones, will work with the Zen Micro; they all charge thru a USB mini-B port. (Of course, I'm not responsible if an aftermarket charger damages your player.)

  • Zen Micro Frozen ON at Logo scre

After a problem with the firmware I upgraded it on My Zen Micro. Now it freezes at the logo screen. It wont boot up and wont turn off. HELP!!!!

Have you run cleanup in the recovery menu? Try that.
To get to this menu, take out the battery, hold the power button ON and reinsert the battery. Continue to hold the ON button for 0 seconds or so until the recovery menu appears.
Run cleaup. A window will open showing scan with a percent progress. If that just freezes, and never progresses to 00%, then you have bigger problems. You might take out the battery at that point, get back into the recovery menu and run the firmware reinstall. Have the newest firmware ready to go on your desktop.
If that fails, you probably have a dead dri've. Hold the player up to your ear when you insert the battery. You should hear the dri've, at least faintly, spin up. If it is completely silent, that is a bad sign - dead dri've. If instead, you hear some odd twangs or repeated whir/clicks, the dri've head has hung on the platter edge. There are "unauthorized" ways to free it up that often work, but if you are under warranty, send call Creative for an RMA.
