i want to delete all the tracks i put on it and start from scratch.is there a way to do this without going one by one? i tried deleting the playlist, deleting the genre (only had one on there so far) but the music is still there when i go to "all tracks". how do i delete everything? also on a sidenote, what does the new firmware update do? thanks

The player makes a distinction between removing a track from the Now Playing and actually deleting the track from the player, and you can't delete a song while it's playing. If the song is playing, Remove will be your only option, and then it will just be removed from Now Playing but not actually deleted.
To delete a song fully from the player when you aren't docked, you find the track in the music library and use the little drop-down menu button (the lower right button) and you can choose Delete. That's why you think you're removing songs but they don't go away - you just removed them from your Now Playing list while still leaving the track on the player.
The best way to delete everything, in my opinion, would be to just pull up all your tracks in the Organizer when you are docked and then select all of them using the Shift key (click first, hold down shift, then click the last one) and then just hit the delete key. Or else you can reformat, like the others said.
