ZEN MICRO: How to save files (to my harddi

Hi everyone!
I would like to install most recent firmware for my ZEN MICRO.
Creative strongly recommends, to save all data (here: music files) beforehand.
But how?
I should let you know, that most of the music (around 350 files) has been filed under"Albums", that I have created by myself by means of the Creative MediaSource Organizer, where I "overwrited" the original Album Name of the music file and gave them my individual sequence of tracks within "my" albums.
I have tried it once before:
When I save the files to my computer and copy them to my ZEN thereafter, all of my individual markings (such as Albums, sequence of tracks etc.) were "lost".
If it only would be20 files, I could re-name them without greater effort, but with around 350 files I do not dare to do that again!!
Any idea, any help?
Thanks&Regards

Here is what you should do:
- Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 from your product download site.
- Download and install the latest Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource from your product download site.
- Launch Creative MediaSource Oragnizer.
- Go to Tools->Settings->PC Music Library and click Properties. Set your preferred folder and file naming convention. Close the setting page.
- In the Sources window, click to view PC Music Library.
- Go to View->Right Panel View and select to view your MP3 player.
- Transfer the tracks from your MP3 player to MediaSource's PC Music Library by clicking the arrow pointing from right to left.
- If you have updated the track information of the tracks in your MP3 player, the updated track information will also be imported into the PC Music Library database. However, the tags of the files are not updated. Here is what you need to do. Right click the PC Music Library node in the Sources window or right click on any tracks in the PC Music Library window and select "Update Tag". This will update the tag of all the tracks or the selected tracks with the track information as seen in the PC Music Library.

Shouldn't the System property "user.home" reference to that directory on windows? So if you call System.getProperty("user.home");, I think it should return that path at least up to <User Name>. I never really tried it on Windows though.

  • How to save files in MUSE?

I have watched many of the MUSE tutorials, both on the Adobe site and Lynda, but I have not seen anywhere how to save files, or where. Please help. Thanks.

Can you please elaborate your query here? Which file exactly are you referring to that you are unable to save? In Muse, it is just the Muse site/project file primarily with the extension .muse that you save/save as through the File menu.

  • How to save file with the "/" symbol in the name?

    Hi,
I have Adobe Professional 8.  I need to save files with names that include the symbol /, but Adobe interprets, for example, A/88/6, as file name 6, in a folder named 88, in a folder named A, and sets up new folders to accommodate that.  I cannot substitute another symbol as I already have thousands of pdf files in a database using the / symbol, and I need them in the same folders.
I would very greatly appreciate any advice,
    thanks,
    Mo.

    Thanks.
As I said, I'm pretty ignorant about these things.  I wouldn't know how to begin using a "hack".  All I know is that I was able, for over a year, to save .pdf files directly from my browser on several computers, and use the forbidden "/" symbol in every file name.  After saving the files, Adobe will happily open them, and allow me to edit and re-save them, although I now see that it will not allow me to "save as" them under a different name without removing that symbol.
I may not be tech-savvy, but I can state that everything I have said here and above is entirely accurate.  I would be happy to open a dropbox account to show you countless .pdfs with the symbol "/" in the name.
This is honestly not that big a deal.  I greatly appreciate this discussion, and you have inspired me to become slightly less computer-ignorant.
Hope you all had a great New Year.  I am still recovering.
    Cheers,
    Mo.

  • How to save files received with iChat?

I was in a text chat with a friend. He sent me an mp3 file, and it showed up in the chat window with the familiar play controls of Quicktime.. I was able to listen to it and everything. However, I couldn't figure out how to save the files??? All I could do was play, rewind etc...no way that I could see to save it.
    Any help you can provide?

    Hi John,
You should be able to drag it from the window to the Desktop and subsequently, any folder.
Alternatively you can set iChat to save all Chats and replay it from there.
Or use Save As when the App that uses the files is open with the file in question.

  • Zen Micro won't transfer files, Creative are not helping

I have had my Zen Micro since early January (bought from Amazon.co.uk) and it has been fine until a couple of weeks ago. One day I plugged it into the computer to put some more music on there and it came up with the dreaded message "Player is not connected". Since then, every time I try to transfer files across, it will come up with this same message. Once I managed to get one song across, then got the message, but now it won't let me transfer at all.
I have contacted Creative Support, and explained what happens. I have tried everything they suggest (different USB cable, uninstall/re-install software, download new 4.00.8 driver, disable anti-virus software, different PC, disk clean-up, etc.) yet it still does not want to work! I keep replying to Support telling them this, but the person at the other end is really not helping the situation at all. So far he has told me to do all of the above THREE times, even after I've told him very clearly that they don't make a difference. I'm now convinced I will never get this player sorted out.
Why won't they issue me with an RMA? Surely we've run out of options by now? I am getting extremely fed up with the whole thing, and right now I don't even feel like replying again because I know I won't get any help
P.S. All this has been tried on both WinME and XP.

Claire does this mean you have tried it on different machines?
Qoute "P.S. All this has been tried on both WinME and XP"
If so than it may be a hardware problem.
Get some ad-aware programs as something maybe restricting you use of the USB ports. AdawareSE is very good.
Right click on my computer on the desk top, goto properties and click the Hardware tab
    <IMG src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v470/johnnyjudge/Slide.jpg">
    Click on Device Manager,
Scroll down and click on Uni'veral Serial Bus Controllers, of course with your Micro plugged in look for it. Right click the on the device and goto properties, and see does it denote the devcie is wotrking properly and are there any drivers assigned to it. If so what them drivers are.

  • Zen Micro - How synchronize via Outl

    Hello,
two weeks ago I buyed a new zen micro. I am very sutisfied. Only one point I can solve.
I have the new firmware 2.00.2
My question is: How can I synchronize contacts and calendar via Outlook?
    Tank you.

If you have the updated firmware (2.00) then you need to also download the newest version of the Media Explorer (MTP one). It won't work with the one that came with the CD (I tried, it wont recognize the player). When you install the new Media Explorer you can either use the shortcut, or go to My Computer and you will see a Zen Micro Media Explorer (MTP) icon. If you have the older version still installed, then you will have two Media Explorer icons. Use the one with the (MTP). It is safe to unsinstall the old one without affecting the new installation.
Once you have the Media Explorer installed open it and click on the "Sync Music and Outlook data between PC and Device". From there you can choose whether to transfer from computer to player, player to computer, or both ways, by selecting the right Sync Direction arrows. You can also choose what you want to trasfer: music, contacts, tasks, and calendar by checking the appropriate boxes. When your ready click on Sync Now.

I don't understand the problem. You write in the program where to save files, and it saves them there. Do you mean something else?

  • Zen Micro: how many are working proper

I bought a Zen Micro for my daughter for Christmas and finally sent it back because it was having the docking problems. I have reguarly read the messages in this forum since then, waiting for an indication that the problem has been fixed. I have read many ideas of what is causing it, from USB ., USB 2.0, usb cables, full battery charge, etc., but no consistent solution. I have also read many posts in which people say most are not having any problem.
So, my request is, if you have a Zen Micro, and you have had no problems at all, please post a message with when you bought yours, and the firmware and software you are using. Thanks a lot for your help. I'm just trying to figure out if it is worth it to take a chance again. I don't want an Ipod with $00 non-user replaceable batteries.

Bought my dark blue Limited Edition in mid-December from Amazon.com. I first charged the unit before doing anything else and it hung up upon completion of that first charge. Removed and replaced the battery and have had no further hangs of any sort. I upgraded to .0.03 right away and am still there. I mostly load music by syncing with WMP 0 and even without the MTP support it works fine for me. I also use Notmad Explorer occassionally to manipulate playlists. It works fine too.
My only problem is I cannot reliably use the touch pad. I'm always selecting the wrong thing or skipping over what I want. Since I love everything else about the ZM, I'm living with the touch pad. I have tried both low and high sensitivity settings and it seems to work slightly better at the high setting.
I haven't actually timed my battery life, but I'm guessing I'm getting somewhere around 8-0 hours playing WMA at 96kbps with Smart Volume off and only occassional use of EQ. I usually disconnect the headphones when the unit is turned off, but I don't know if that changes anything. I try to run the battery quite low (no bars or low battery warning) before a full charge, but I do let it charge for a while sometimes while its connected to the USB port on the PC.
Unlike some, I have been very pleased with the FM radio. I get good reception even at work in my ground floor office of a mostly metal building. That's with the stock earphones.
I started out using USB ., but added USB 2.0 to my computer (Windows XP SP2) and had no trouble with either. I have not seen the problem some have reported about problems when the battery is fully charged.
One last thing... I have 697 songs on my ZM, with about 2.8 GB of free space.

  • How to save files

    Hi,
I am trying to save files (various MIME types) in to Oracle via Kodo. The
datatype I'm using for the field is java.io.File. There are no errors when
I save the file but I get a NPE (null pointer) when I try to retrieve it.
What is the proper mechanism to save multimedia files. Please let me know.
    Thanks in advance.
    Anant

We store multimedia files in our database as well. We use kodo for all the
data except for the actual binary, which we write using our own piece of SQL
into a table we defined. We use Streams to read and write the data to via
the JDBC driver to avoid loading into memory - after all a video file could
be pretty big! We can use KODO's connection so it all gets committed at the
    same time.
For performance, when we retrieve the binary, we cache each one in files, so
that next time, if it is unchanged, we don't have to drag the data back from
    the database.
My impression is that JDO is not geared up for large binaries at the moment.
    Matty.

    news:bnjsq8$s3o$[email protected]..
Binary contents has to be stored as a byte[] or serialized object. A
File represents a path, not any actual content. There is no way to load
the contents of a file as a java.io.File object. So byte[] is probably
    your best bet.

  • HOW TO SAVE FILES WITHOUT HAVING TO SEARCH FOR DESTINATION FOLDER AGAIN

Hello maybe someone can help me on this one.
I have a MacBookPro. And run loads of applications like Logic Pro, Photoshop, Peak, ProTools, etc.
Everytime I save changes on a project or file i am working on i have to choose the destination folder. Is there a way to save settings so that the last folder chosen automatically comes up when i would like to save new changes i did? I mean now i have to search and choose the destination folder each and every time I want to save changes. Since I have loads of projects i am working on and since i have MANY folders and sub folders this is quite irritating since it slows down my work flow.
I used to use a Powerbook G4 (os x 10.4.11) and I never had that problem. Each and every time I saved changes the machine automatically chose the folder i previously used to save. I never had to save settings for none of the MANY applications I use. This was something that went automatically: My powerbook automatically chose the last folder that i used to save files into.
I'd like to have my MacBookPro do the same.
    Anyone knows about this issue?
    Thanks in advance.
ps: i tried to explain best as i could in English (i am Dutch so excuse the (spelling) mistakes i might have made)

I put an alias in some folders to go to commonly or frequently used locations so I could "Boomerang".
Maybe take a look at the Default Folder utility.

  • How to save file from download folder

how and where do I save a file from the download folder?

    Glenn,
The downloads folder (for your user) is located in the folder:
    /User/<your user name>/Downloads
You can get to this folder by (in the Finder) by using the menu item "Go > Downloads":
    or using the key combination <option> + <command> + L
you may use installers and files directly from this folder and may move them to other folders in your user space.  Where they go depends on how you like to organize files.
