Zen Micro. I cant transfer the mu

Hi everybody. My english is bad but i will try to explain my problem though. I have a Zen Micro 5 giga since 3 years. I have the last firmware in it. I dont format since or maybe more year couse i have a lots of music inside.Many many times, when i try to transfer music using Zen Micro Media Explorer the green line stops and the Micro doesnt work anymore. So after i have to go into recovery mode. When i clean the % goes over 800%, sometimes 000%. For "cleaning" it takes at least 2/3 minuts. After i reboot. The 2? or 3. time i can transfer the music (by now). Sometimes i have to convert with Altomp3 Gold the songs i cant transfert from Mp3 to Mp3 but using the default settings of this softwere (28bit)My questions are:Why i cant transfer music at the first try?I should format often?Why the "cleaning" goes over 800%?Thank's for any answer

Zen Micro won't transfer files, Creative are not helping

I have had my Zen Micro since early January (bought from Amazon.co.uk) and it has been fine until a couple of weeks ago. One day I plugged it into the computer to put some more music on there and it came up with the dreaded message "Player is not connected". Since then, every time I try to transfer files across, it will come up with this same message. Once I managed to get one song across, then got the message, but now it won't let me transfer at all.
I have contacted Creative Support, and explained what happens. I have tried everything they suggest (different USB cable, uninstall/re-install software, download new 4.00.8 driver, disable anti-virus software, different PC, disk clean-up, etc.) yet it still does not want to work! I keep replying to Support telling them this, but the person at the other end is really not helping the situation at all. So far he has told me to do all of the above THREE times, even after I've told him very clearly that they don't make a difference. I'm now convinced I will never get this player sorted out.
Why won't they issue me with an RMA? Surely we've run out of options by now? I am getting extremely fed up with the whole thing, and right now I don't even feel like replying again because I know I won't get any help
P.S. All this has been tried on both WinME and XP.

If so than it may be a hardware problem.
Get some ad-aware programs as something maybe restricting you use of the USB ports. AdawareSE is very good.
Right click on my computer on the desk top, goto properties and click the Hardware tab

Click on Device Manager,
Scroll down and click on Uni'veral Serial Bus Controllers, of course with your Micro plugged in look for it. Right click the on the device and goto properties, and see does it denote the devcie is wotrking properly and are there any drivers assigned to it. If so what them drivers are.

Can TWO different Zen Micros be installed on the same computer w/o confli

I have a Zen Micro 5G, and would like to buy a Zen Micro Photo 8G as well. Does anyone know if there will be conflicts to install the software (firmware?) on the SAME computer? I had conflicts when I tried to install two different Palm Pilots on the same computer - the software of the first Palm no longer worked properly. Perhaps the new one "overrides" the first? I don't know if this might happen with the Zen Micro and Micro Photo.
Also, does anyone know if the Micro Photo fits into the Zen Micro Traveldock?

I don't think they will conflict because if you use mediasource, you can have different music libraries etc...
I believe the microphoto fits the traveldock, but don't hold me to it

Zen Micro Power Adapter w/ the ZenMicro Pho

Well I bought a Zen MicroPhoto and unfortunatley it does not come with a hard travel-case nor a wall power adapter.. but, I purchased a Zen Micro before and thankfully have those accessories with me.. however, I wonder, can I use the Zen Micro power adapter with my ZenMicro photo The connection is the same, but I still am worried if something is different..

Yes, this is perfectly fine. Creative sells the same power adapter separately for the MicroPhoto. I use my Micro's. It gives more juice in a smaller period of time than the USB connection.

Zen Micro 6GB Frozen to the Starting Scr

I haven't opened my Zen Micro 6GB about 2 months after I received it and when I try to operate it, it stays frozen to the screen with "Creative, Copyright(c) 2004, Creative Technology Ltd, All Rights Reserved" and stays like that forever.
I even tried removing the battery, holding the power to on, and placing the battery back in and nothing is happening.
Can you give me some pointers? Or should I so a warranty exchange?

Where to Buy Zen Micro and get all the goodi

Hi everyone. I have a MuVoN200 and I love it to death, but I am ready to move on to something bigger. I have had no problems with Creative and I would like to get a Zen Micro.
I've been reading on the internet how some people get different things in their box! Some have a belt clip/stand thing and some don't. I would, of course, like to get the most acessories for my money, so where should I buy mine to get all of the acessories?
I'm considering Target since I have a Target card . . . but Walmart is having a sale on them right now. I saw them in Best Buy, but the box was pretty small, not the tall one. Any input would be appreciated!!

However, it came in a box (rumored to be old, prone to headphone jack problem), not plastic packaging. And the firmware installed was only .0.03. This also makes me feel it might not be the newest model with the rumored fix for the headphone jack problem, even though it's from a high-volume reseller. For me, I'll just pay $40 for the extra warranty to balance my risk. Maybe ask Creative where you can buy a newer, headphone-jack-secure Micro with all the trimmings?

The only thing that I like about the ipod and itunes is the fade out of the current song and the fade in of the new song, which works well in all playing modes.

I'm not 'in the know', but my suspicion is that we are all done for the Zen Micro now. There aren't any bugs left in the firmware, and generally the Micro does all it was supposed to do. The market is moving away from the 5gig(ish) hard dri've players (being replaced by high capacity flash), which means the micro is running to the end of its life.
Thats not really a bad thing, the Micro is stable, and we have some new features (Audible) that we didn't have when purchased. I think that is about all we can hope for....

Zen Micro locks up on the Shutting Down screen -intermittent prob

Since buying the Zen Micro in December, it has failed to shut down after I push the shut down button. It shows the SHUTTING DOWN screen, but that stays on forever (until battery dies or I pull the battery). The problem is intermittent. Sometimes the unit shuts down correctly. After nothing would fix it, Creative sent a replacemnt. Well the replacement does the same thing. I just upgraded to the new Firmware that came out this week, but that didn't solve the problem. It must be something that I am doing wrong. There is no pattern to when it will shut down and when it won't (plugged in versus not, different batteries, different screens,etc). Has anyone else had this problem?

I have contacted Creative Customer Support and as usual all you get back is an automated email telling you to reboot this and reload that. I then contacted Creative in Sydney and they have told me to bring it in and they will swap it for another unit. If the next one does it I will demand a refund. I will have to check out a few Ipod forums to see if these peole are having the troubles Creative customers seem to have. I was going to ask for an upgrade to the Zen Microphoto but I can see by this forum that they are full of bugs as well. Technology is a wonderful thing.

ZEN MICRO, USB wont recognize the device

Hello, I recently bought a Zen Micro, and I plugged it in via the usb cable, and installed the drivers for it. After installing the drivers, I clicked on Zen Micro Media Explorer, and it said to please plug in your zen micro. The player functions, I can go through the menus and things, but my usb will not recognize the device.. HELP? I also went on the site and got the latest drivers. I also tried it on a different computer, with the same result. Did I forget to install something? 

what i did when I first got my zen micro, as the instructions said, to insert the installation CD and install everything before plugging in the zen micro.
maybe you can try deleting everything, then reinstalling the software from the installation CD then plug in your micro to see if that works...

My Zen Micro will not leave the Start Scr

I have had my Micro since last Christmas. I have had no problems up untill yesterday, I went to turn it on, but when i pulled the little on button, it went straight to the open screen, made a really wierd noise then stopped, the light went off, and now it wont do anything, i plugged it into the wall jack and left it untill today when i woke up. I took it off of the charger and it was the same.. on that screen. I plugged it up to my computer but it wont recognize it!!! no matter what buttons i push it just stays the same!!

Here's what you can try:
Zen Micro / Zen MicroPhoto
. Make sure that battery is charged.
2. Detach your player from the computer, and ensure that it is turned off.
3. Remove the battery.
4. Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the Zen Micro. Hold the Power button until the Recovery Mode appears.
5. The following options will be displayed:
* Clean Up (Performs a disk scan on the players hard disk, it will not affect music files)
* Format All (Formats the players hard disk - Note: all contents will be lost)
* Reload Firmware (Reloads the Operating System on the Jukebox)
* Reboot (Reboots the device).

My zen micro is stuck in the future, so I can't listen to any mu

I have the playsforsure firmware and I am a rhapsody-to-go subscriber. Everything was working great for months until one day all my licenses expired. I checked the date/time on my zen micro and it was set to sometime in jan 2007. It doesn't matter what pc I connect it to, the time never gets properly synced. How can I solve this?

You can adjust it on the Micro manually. I have never had the time on the Micro sync with my computer. Go into the "Date & Time", then click the menu button, then "Set Time", then "Set Date".

my zen micro is crap now. no one know s what i am talking about or how to fix my zen micro. i am going to throw it out the window and buy an ipod.

It looks like she had been doing things I did back when the firmware for my zen micro was less then great, but instead of things getting fixed she somehow ended up messing up the firmware installation and her computer wont recognize it. At the same time she has been given help with the problem but she seems to be happier giving up then fixing what is basically a simple firmware issue. Her ysmptoms sound a lot like a bad firmware install, easily fixable with a little patience and trial and error so if she gives it away instead of throwing it away all power to the lucky person who gets it.

Zen Micro. Song transfer prob

Okay this happened to me twice first time I thought it was a fluke but since its happened twice I thought I'd report it / see if anyone else has seen it.
My micro is pretty full. I have a couple very big audio book files like 400 meg each.
After I finish a track I delete it an put on the next track. When doing the transfer it looks like everything worked fine. But when I go to listen to my new audio book it seems like it never transfered the new file over. It puts me at a random place in some music or the previous book I deleted. The track is around 7 hours long and if I move around the track it sometimes switches to other stuff I deleted.
So it appears it reserved a spot on the disk for my new track but it never wrote over the old stuff.

Well I did have about 600 meg free and the book was 450 meg or so. So I had plenty of disk space. When I got home I deleted the "new" track and reloaded it...
No problem this time. It just seems weird this would happen and not give me any errors.
As far as updating goes I hate windows media player and will not ever use it. It seems like all of the updates either force you to use windows media player or the just change some of the graphics on the screen. Am I missing something?

Is this possible? I cant find a program to do it with, thing is I had a HDD failure and I really really dont feel like ripping 800+ songs back onto the HDD.

Well, I kind of found the solution to my problem... I purchased a USB2.0 card for this computer since it's such a dinosaur and only had USB.. While it was connected with ., it worked fine. Then I tried the 2.0 and it worked..then it started to freeze on 2.0. For the life of me, I couldn't figure it out until I just went back to see if it'll work on .. Of course, this was after I reformatted the player and reinstalled the firmware on another PC. So apparently, this USB2.0 card is either junk or the player has problems with USB2.0.
On a side note: The USB2.0 card does work with other devices, such as my mouse and camera.
Now I just gotta figure out which it is.. the junk card or player.

ok how long would a song take to transfer to the zmp using usb .

It all depends on how big the file is. Asuming it's around 4 MB it should take about 0 seconds for that one song. I have USB . and sometimes it can be slow. Wish I had USB 2.0
