Zen Micro is not starting-up correc

My Zen Micro is having problems while starting up. When you first turn the player on, it goes to a Creative screen. Then it displays Zen Micro. Usually, after this screen, it will go to the main menu. But mine stays at the Zen Micro screen. I'm not able to turn it off either; I have to take the battery out. It is not recognizing the USB cable either. Can anyone please help me?
Thanks.

Put your zen near your ear, and listen if you hear some ticking inside,
i had the same problem and heard some ticking inside,
This means that your harddri've has crashed
but i was lucky and had guarantee
But i hope you hear a thing.

• Zen micro freez at start

Hi!
My zen micro can not start anymore. It freez at the Creative screen and the harddri've makes "klick" sounds. I can start the recovery Mode but Clean Up and Format All also freez with the HD making click sounds. This all started when I was deleting files and the deleting progess freezed and I could not turn the zen micro off. So I put the battery out and after that the zen micro didnt start anymore.
What can I do?
Thank you.

If the recovery mode options you've mentioned hang or freeze then the player is most likly faulty. Some people have mentioned that some other micro dri've players sometimes get jammed. The remedy they seem to mention is giving the player a slap on the back of the player to un-stick the head, This is something that you do at your own risk and could well void the warrenty.

• Zen Micro Photo not working with new XP SP2 install

Okay so my Zen Micro Photo stopped being recognised on my computer about ten months ago when I upgraded to WMP (for BBC iPlayer - it's compulsory to have it). Anyway I li'ved with this and have now got thoroughly sick of the same songs and nothing new so I have done a fresh install (on a brand new hard dri've) of Windows XP SP2 WMP9 with the sole intention of using this install/hard dri've?for the player. I used the original installation disk and it prompted me to upgrade to WMP0 as I installed everything. There were no errors during the install and I rebooted when prompted to.
When I attach the player it is recognised by the machine (task bar icon and correctly labelled in System > Hardware > Device Manager which reports it to be?working okay) but the Creative media software says "player not attached" when it is. It is not visible on My Computer as a dri've so I STILL have no access to the player. Player screen reports "docked" with a logo and is flashes a charging icon. Driver v5.2.0.0. The player plays fine but hasn't had new music on in almost a year
There is nothing else on the XP install (IE6 and everything - argh!) I did the registry permission tweak thing mentioned?here:?http://support.creative.com/kb/showa....aspx?sid=9287?but it didn't do anything.
Any help greatfully received!

• My Zen Micro will not leave the Start Scr

I have had my Micro since last Christmas. I have had no problems up untill yesterday, I went to turn it on, but when i pulled the little on button, it went straight to the open screen, made a really wierd noise then stopped, the light went off, and now it wont do anything, i plugged it into the wall jack and left it untill today when i woke up. I took it off of the charger and it was the same.. on that screen. I plugged it up to my computer but it wont recognize it!!! no matter what buttons i push it just stays the same!!
Someone Help!!!
<3 Steffles

Here's what you can try:
Zen Micro / Zen MicroPhoto
. Make sure that battery is charged.
2. Detach your player from the computer, and ensure that it is turned off.
3. Remove the battery.
4. Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the Zen Micro. Hold the Power button until the Recovery Mode appears.
5. The following options will be displayed:
* Clean Up (Performs a disk scan on the players hard disk, it will not affect music files)
* Format All (Formats the players hard disk - Note: all contents will be lost)
* Reload Firmware (Reloads the Operating System on the Jukebox)
* Reboot (Reboots the device).

• Zen Micro, can't start

my Zen Micro used to work at its full potential. but when i was playing a song i accidentally pressed "Copy From Album" (something like that). then my Zen Micro froze and was not able to use it ever since. I can turn on my Zen Micro, but it just goes to the screen that says "CREATIVE." i tried the Recovery Mode, and still no luck! it keeps freezing and never wants to start up!
if anyone can help, it well be greatly appreciated
thnx!

Similar problems were discussed here often. If recovery does not work, only help is to contact Creative customer service and act according to their reply. Usually they ask to send player back to them for replacement.
I had similar problem. After 3 days my player hanged and nothing helped. I was disappointed too, but since I was sent the new player, I feel much better Sending replacement took about week (from Ireland to Slovakia).
So the new one works well (already 3 weeks) and is fully loaded. Sometimes it gives me hard time when I'm switching it on and creative logo appears instead of splash screen, but it's never hanged. So slowly I relax.

• Zen Micro - Player not connected - Firmware problem - no FAQ hel

Hi!
My Zen Micro made problems by turning on but anyway it started sometimes to the mainmenu where I could hear music. So I wanted to upgrade the firmware. By copying new firmware in the past there were no problems. For sure I cleaned the Micro up. I formatted it and wanted to upgrade the firmware...
Now it starts with the screen "firmware problem" to the recovery menu and my firmare is now "v0.0.65". When I cable it to the PC via USB it gets found as a portabel device with the correct name "Creative Zen Micro". And the screen turns from the recovery mode to the screen when the Zen Micro is connected to the PC. So there is the paper in the middle with two arrows around. And on the top the caption is again "recovery mode". When I touch the up and down touchscreen the paper and the arrows disappear, but the caption remains.
But by starting the firmare there is the message that the player was not found. And WMP can't find it with the synchronization mode...and so on. Nothing can find it except the working place. When opening the "Creative Zen Micro" menu ich see "Storage Media" with 20MB. I can format it but nothing changes.
When I'm watching the specifications of the "Creative Zen Micro" the firmare version is "2.2.02_0.00.65".
I reinstalled all creative software (including the registry entrys !) and rolled back WMP.
But nothing goes right. Every FAQ which I followed doesn't repair my Zen Micro
I also used a laptop and this didn't help too.
I invested the hole day the day before yesterday, but I stuck.
I hope somebody can help me.

-Windows Media Player COMPLETELY uninstalled
-in Device Manager ALL USB-Controllers uninstalled (don't worry about non-controlling your mouse or keyboard -> will install themselves after uninstalling or after restart)
-restart
-and TSCHAKAAA...Player was found and firmware could be installed (i installed for the first time again the 2.2 version. message was "installation failing" but it worked...anyway i reinstalled version . and the message was 'yeah. it works')
-Player works!
I hope this report can help some people.

• Zen micro is not acting in the following ways open if u have any of these problems with yo

I would like to know who else is have problems with their zen micro mp3 player not working in these following ways:
. it shuts itself down
2. battery meter does not show up correctly
3.does not even start up even when trying to when using power button
4.takes awhile for it to do certain actions
5. sounds wierd when the headphones are touched near the top of the player

Some questions to your questions:
2. How do you know that the battery meter does not show up accurately?
4: How does it operates when you can't even turn it on (as mentioned in your question 3)?
5: What do you mean by "sounds wierd"? Can you differentiate "wierd" and "normal" sounds?
This thread somehow appears fishy to me, as though it's one from an ipod supporter trying to post bogus problems with Creative products.
My reasons for saying that are:
-The person only asked for any other persons who have problems with their player, but did not ask for a solution.
-The usual response one would have to problems with their players are to ask for solutions. In fact, that is the main purpose of a forum, I believe.
-Further, the problems seem too explicit.

• My Zen Micro is not being detec

I did everything that the instructions that came with my Micro said to.
I charged it, I installed the software.
After re-starting, I connected the player and the only thing that has happened is that the player turns on. It doesn't say it's docked, doesn't say it's connected, it just turns on.
If I go to the Zen Micro Media Explorer, it says that the device is not connected. I've uninstalled and re-installed the software, and I get the same thing. I've unplugged every possible device from the USB ports and have tried various ports, and it still wont connect with the **bleep** thing.
What is going on and how do I get this freaking thing to work?

I'm kind of an idiot as far as it comes to computers.
Why would trying another computer make a difference? What's the point in that? Shouldn't it work on ANY computer?
Yeah, I want to go to someone else's house each time I want to use this thing.
I realize I'm being silly, but I'm not stupid. When the advice of "try it at someone else's house" comes up, that tells me that I'm not dealing with a thoroughly tested product.
That's beta testing in the field, my friend.

• New Zen Micro will NOT connect!

Hello all,
I just bought a Creative Zen Micro player. I installed the software, charged the battery to full and guess what.....the Creative software does not recognize my player as being connected. And yes, I've checked device manager to see if it appears. It does, with the correct name and everything. So what is the problem? I've read other messages on this forum about this problem but it usually seems to be a problem after installing a new version of firmware. But this hasn't been done in my case because I haven't been able to get the stupid thing connected in the first place.
I'm confused as to what to do next. I've tried resetting it by removing the battery and then holding the power button but this hasn't worked either. I first was using a usb hub to connect but after reading that you should avoid this, I tried plugging directly into a usb port on my machine. That also didn't make a difference. I've unistalled the player from the device manager about 5 times and reinstalled it. I've tried reinstalling the creative software/drivers about 5 times and no resolution. I've followed instructions from the Creative website step by step as the proper way to install the software but nothing works. I'm extremely disappointed to bring home a product that does not work out of the box. Oh, and yes I have Windows XP Pro so the OS isn't the issue here. I guess I will just return this useless product unless someone else has another idea that I could try. I'm really at my wits end.
Thanks for listening to this short novel,
Drawn-a-Blank

The software that will not recognize the player is the Zen Media Explorer and Media Source. I'm not sure what firmware I have and I can't check since I'm not at home. But, I can't install new firmware even if I wanted too since it won't connect. However, I have downloaded the lastest drivers but I don't think I've installed the lasted version of Zen Media Explorer, so I guess that is one other option.

• My Zen Micro won't start!

Hi,
my zen micro turns on when it is connected to the computer. but it only says, "creative, copyright...." how do i get it to start again? i tried it on different computers to see if it was a pc problem but that didn't help either. then, i tried charging the battery but that didn't work. THEN, i tried removing the battery and putting it in again. yet, NO LUCK!! does this mean i have to buy a new battery for my mp3 player? HEEELLPPP ME. =)

Mine had the same problem except recorvery mode doesn't work; it'll just freeze if you select to Clean Up, Format, Reload Firmware, or reboot.
It happened to my previous Zen Microphoto also. Simply put, its junk.

• Zen Micro MTP not recognized? Solution in he

So, after scouring the forums here and Google in search for a reason why my MTP enabled Zen Micro wasn't being recognized in a fresh WinXP install. Well here's the solution everybody.
Try installing this:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;8922
I noticed that the player isn't recognized by drivers from the net or the Zen Micro CD (They're both the same anyways). The reason why is because the Device ID for the Zen Micro with the MTP firmware is different (USB\VID_04E&PID_430\00525530038FF3). If you open up the .inf file used to install this player, the Device ID is not in there.
I had another XP install on another HDD which recognized the Zen Micro and noticed that only a single file was being used for the drivers: wpdusb.sys.A search on Google brought me to the Microsoft KB page. I installed that patch and poof instant recognition.
I also believe this issue could be resolved if you install the latest Windows Media Player 0 available. I had it installed, but somehow that file wasn't installed and the update provided it for me.
I hope this helps somebody~! =)

The only other suggestion to what the problem could be is a a software conflict of the driver and current software on your system that is interferring with the recognizing of your player. I had the same problem happen, and I tried my Micro on three different computers, and the Micro worked, instantly, and my Zen use to work on my computer before an upgrade.
Somewhere in between of any other updates of software on the computer, there must be a conflict. My player will become recognizable once in a blue moon, which also leads to the conclusion of software conflict, or possibly IRQ issue.
Maybe the latest driver just released may fix the issues of eliminating if it doesn't cause any conflicts with other softwares that are on your system for your Micro to be recognized.

• Zen Micro Photo not recognized in Media Explo

Device automatically goes into Recovery Mode when turned on. Tried the clean up and format features, followed by reboot. Still nothing. ?When connected via USB, Device not recognized in Media Explorer. Tried to reload firmware, but getting error message that device is not connected.
Can someone help?

Hey i think i know what your problem is. What Operating System are u running on your computer? (Windows XP, ME etc) And also, if running XP do you have service pack installed? If you dont have service pack installed, you cant use your player. The system requirements can be found on the back of the zen micro photo box. goodluck!!

• Zen Micro Firmware Not Reload

I am trying to reload my firmware onto my Zen Micro 5GB but the firmware tool keeps asking me to connect the device. It is connected to the USB cable and my computer recognises it (i can access it through My Computer and it shows up in the device listings). The firmware tool doesn't recognise it though. Before I lost the firmware, the Zen Media Explorer also would not recognise it, even though the Media Source did. I don't know how to reload my firmware on to the player now.Can anyone help?

I've had a look at some posts that state that roll back (or install) WMP0. However, I can't do that as my system won't let me. It states that WMP0 is incompatible with my Windows (XP Home SP2). It says to go to Details for further information, but this brings up a Windows webpage that is no longer present. I just can't figure out how to force the firmware to upgrade when the firmware program wont recognise that it is connected.

• Help!!...Zen Micro crashed, not responding, what do I

OK, here's the deal:
I wanted to transfer some files from my old computer to my new one using the data storage feature on my Zen Micro. I turned the player on, plugged it into the USB port, and it immediately shut off. When I tried to turn it back on, it showed the first two images (the Creative inc copyright thing, and then just the one that says 'Creative'), then it got stuck on that and the contrast faded out to the point where you couldn't even read it. I took the battery out and the same thing happened when I put it back in. I did it again and tried to do the recovery thing but that menu faded out, too, and the touchpad wouldn't respond. I felt the Micro starting to get warm so I took it out again and just let it rest for several minutes. Now, it just won't turn on at all.
Can anyone help, or is my Micro a dead duck?

I have experienced a similar problem. I was simply listening to a track when the player started to make a loud buzzing noise. It then shut off. I cannot reboot the machine. I have no idea to do a hard reset. The battery was near full. There is no response when I plug it in. Worst yet, I lost my receipt. I have had the thing less than 2 weeks. If this thing is broken I swear on all that is holy I will never purchase a Creative product again. Moreover, I will tell everyone I know to avoid their products. Please help.
