(Zen Micro) Listening to songs whilst connected to PC

not sure if this is normal but i've just (for the first time) tried listening to songs on my Zen Micro whilst it is connected to the PC (Windows XP)... everything was fine until i tried using the Internet... everytime i type a web address URL into the address bar the Micro switches to docking mode and the song sto

I disconnected and reconnected... now i just get the "docked" icon and can't access anything else on the player...

don't try to play it while it's hooked up to the usb. it's got a calendar organizer function that syncs to outlook so even if you're not using it, when you hook up your usb, your Micro wants to talk to outlook and not play your music. also, anytime it's connected to the pc, it wants to talk to your pc, expecially if you are using explorer. i recommend using the ac adapter to charge if you want to listen to and avoid the USB if you want to listen, just my $.02
i suppose what would be nice is if there was a way to manually dismount the dri've while it's still hooked up to usb but that's for the techs at creative to figure out.

'Lo all, as title, I'm at work just now, my battery is flat and I'd like to listen to the radio while my Zen charges, can I do this somehow?
    TIA

Internet Explorer (this includes going through files), Windows Media Player and Zen Media Explorer will cause the player to be in docked mode. Make sure you're not in any of these and you should be able listen to music while charging.

  • Zen Micro problem player frozen, can connect to pc, what to d

    hello community,
My 6 month old zen micro has frozen after a small drop. I have read of this product freezing at the creative labs screen but mine freezes once it has turned on completely (i see the song/artist/album of the last song i was playing). Here, the touchpad does not work and i cannot turn it off without removing the battery, although i can turn it on normally. Also the glow around hte player doesnt work but the main LCD works.
When i try to access the emergency menu or whatever wit hall of the options (clean up/format etc) I cannot do anything since the touchpad is unresponsi've. I can, however, charge it with my computer and sync files that way.
So my question is: How can I revi've my Zen Micro using a connection with my computer, being able to transfer stuff?

Right... I havent tried anything insane i've smacked it around and dropped it again but nothing huge or drastic yet... so i guess it is an internal mechanical problem that cant be fixed with a new firmware or rolling back my current firmware?

  • Help! My Zen Micro is detected but not connected to zen media explorer & mediasou

    Hi
recently i just bought a creative zen micro at 5 GB. after installing all the drivers and programs using the installation CD that came with my player, I connected my player through the USB cable to my pc USB root hub.
an auto-detect of my zen micro window pops up at the righthand corner, prompting me to click 'organize' in the creative media source. clicking the organize option, mediasource program starts but while it is loading the music library, an error message: CTCMS, The program has performed a illegal operation......etc.
i tried disconnecting my player followed by opening the media source prog and connecting my player after that. another error message: file operation failed. please ensure that your player is properly connected.
I'm using windows 98 SE on an AMD processor. i was able to use the removable disk mode of my player to store data from pc. However when comes to the media mode of my player, it is shown as not connected status in the zen micro media explorer and in the creative media source program, it's either shown as not properly connected or illegal operation when loading music library from my player. in addition, under the device manager, the creative zen micro driver is shown as working properly. i was also able to upgrade my firm ware to version .02.05. using my pc to connect to my player. However, even before upgrading the firmware, this problem is already present. i have contacted the creative technical support helpdesk for advise on this issue and they have suggested to me various solutions such as checking my drivers if they are updated, reinstalling the drivers and software applications for the media library, installing jet engine service pack for my windows and the MDAC component but still nothing works.
anyone have any suggestions? pls help
    thanks

    Hi,
Sorry I can't help you. I just wanted to let you know I have the same exact problem. It started three days ago and I've been going back and forth with creative support and nothing has worked. I am beginning to grow really distressed. I feel a little better now because after seeing that it's happening with someone else, it is most likely not the player. I am running windows 98 SE as well. I also have an AMD Duron processor. I have a new computer on the way with windows XP I really hope it works. But now I have a new problem. I listed it on the front page of this forum a few minutes ago. My player froze and now only boots up in rescue mode. I am getting so frustrated with my player. If you figure anything out will you be as kind as to send me a message on how you got your player working again? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
    Nick

  • ZEN micro: problem with song/album/title/genre renaming after update - pls he

    hi!
after updating my zen micro to the new firmware (playforsure) and the necessary software update of the media source organizer - i wasn?t able to rename the title on the player - like before the update: it'ss only possible to rename them one by one and not e.g. a full album (genre).
BTW: why has the user interface changed that much - all songs i?ve arranged before the update had to be rearranged and that isn?t possible anymore in the way it was before...
    thx

    You can try these two:
    http://www.mp3tag.de/en/index.html
    http://www.snapfiles.com/get/godfather.html
If they're not to your liking, try Google. These are not the only ones, but they're good (and free). Tag & Rename is also very good, but it costs a few bucks.

  • Does Zen Micro avoid duplicate songs in a playli

Suppose I have a playlist with 00 songs in it already in the Zen Micro. I make another playlist and this one has some of
the same songs in it that the first playlist does. Does the software not allow the duplicate songs
to be placed in the new playlist or do I wind up with duplicates in the new playlist? In this example
I would be loading new songs to the Zen Micro, not creating a new playlist from songs already
    in the Zen Micro.
I just purchased a Zen Micro and am just learning how to use it.
    Thanks for your help,
    Hillcountry

The playlist can have duplicates in it, of course playlists are just shortcuts to tracks so you aren't creating duplicate physical files on the player.
Notmad Explorer?has a function for removing duplicates from playlists.

  • Zen Micro Crashes After Song Trans

after i have finished transferring songs for windows media to my micro, and then i disconnect it (even when the white arrow screen shows), it crashes and i have to remove the battery. awhile ago it wasnt even transferring, anybody else having similar problems or a solution? pls help

Tried a disk cleanup? To access the Rescue Mode on the Zen Micro, remove the battery, hold the power switch to the "on" position, reinsert the battery. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu. Note: Disk cleanup should not remove your tracks. It searches through the disk for files and rebuilds the index, and can be useful for correcting any strange behaviour.
Can you check with another PC to see if you get the same problem?

  • Creative Zen Micro Firmware problem: "Device not connected, please connect your devi

After an exhausti've search, I've found the fix for losing your firmware and not being able to update it via download from the creative.com. To explain my problem, I had issues with my device connectivity, so I tried to option of reloadinging my firmware via Recovery Mode (option 3, 'Reload Firmware'). After selecting this option, I tried to download and update my firmware via the creative.com website. The module to update my firmware displayed the error message "Device not connected, please connect your device." After about 2 hours of trying various suggested fixes, I found a relati'vely easy fix by running together various suggestions I found for other problems. First rollback your Windows Media Player (WMP) via the instructions found on this page: http://www.auditmypc.com/uninstall-m...layer0beta.asp. Restart your computer after rolling back WMP.
When your compter restarts, insert the "playsforsure" CD labeled "Easy Start CD." Follow the directions for reinstalling WMP. After WMP is reinstalled, restart again. When the computer restarts, return to the CD and follow the directions in the prompt. Reconnect your device when prompted. Once you reconnect your device, it may not function right away. If this is the case, go to the 'Start' button, under 'Control Pannel,' select 'System.' Under 'System' select 'Hardware' and then 'Device Manager.' Find your portable device under 'Uni'versal Serial Bus controllers.' Click on your device and select 'Uninstall' from the small icons at the top of the window. When this is completed, unplug and plug your device back in. After this is done, click on 'Scan for hardware changes,' also a small icon at the top of the window. If your device had the problem mine did, it should now be recognized. Go back to the Creative website and download the latest firmware. The module should now find your player without any problems.
The only thing I can figure is that the "playsforsure Easy Start CD" must have a device driver that solves the problem that you can't find anywhere else. I hope this helps someone out there (tech support was telling me that I was going to have to ship my device back to the company I bought it from to get it exchanged...which would have taken at least a month, I'm sure). Good luck to you all.

For all of you non-technical Micro owners:
I found a fix for this that I hope will help others out.
When I want to Sync tracks to My Zen using Yahoo Jukebox or WMP, I simply reboot my machine with the device PLUGGED IN. After Windows starts up, my applications recognize that the Zen Micro is connected. Good Luck.

errr, no it doesn't. not for me, not right now. i browse to the album name, and hit play (which USUALLY plays them by number) but it's playing them ALPHA. for every album on my micro. and they all have complete id3 tags with track numbers, etc.....

  • Labview not listening to teststand whilst connected to telnet

    Hi,
I have a telnet connection open to some hardware and I am passing in variables to my labview which is talking to this telnet.
The telnet is running from my command prompt (which I launch as an executable at the start of my sequence in teststand).
My problem is when the command prompt is launched and the connection is made the variables being passed from teststand to labview are ignored (this may be due to labview being single threaded to the telnet session?). I can't stop the connection to the command prompt at all (if the connection is lost the test fails) so I am looking for a solution where I can leave the telnet session running while my labview is still listening to what's being passed from teststand.
I know its this command prompt telnet session causing the issue because as soon as I close it my variables can be seen being entered.
    Any ideas are much appreciated

Are you using a timeout on your read? Is your read in a separate loop (parallel process) or in your main processing loop? You can create a separate loop that does nothing more than read from the telnet session. Any data read can be passed to some other piece of your code for prcessing. Queues would be the preferred method for passing the data.
If you don't have a timeout on your read you may want to add one. This way you can still read data as necessary but filter out the timeout errors. By allowing the read to timeout you allow other tasks to occur within that same loop.
    Ooo!
One of the LabVIEW telnet VIs (buffered read) is NOT reentrant, but all the upper levels are. This VI effectively blocks other sessions if you set the timeout too long.
We've had to change this manually each time we upgrade LabVIEW. Our TestStand threads performed MUCH better when we manually changed this VI to reentrant:
    LabVIEW x.x\vi.lib\addons\internet\telnet\telnet.llb\Telnet Buffered Read.vi
Now is the right time to use %^<%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S%3uZ>T

  • Zen Micro won't connect to

Im having this weird problem with my Zen Micro 5gb, I used to connect it to my laptop previously but now my laptop is broken and i've been trying to connect it to my computer and everytime i do it just freezes with the lighting charge sign and the song playing, and on my task tray it shows unknown usb device plugged in, and it wont recognize it because my zen freezes. I had no problems with my laptop and am curious if anyone has had this same problem and is willing to help, it's getting me angry cause i really like my creative and i had no previous problems and my laptops been broken for about a month now and i havent been able to use my player. I also bought a charger a little while back, but for some reason i cant ever fully charge my mp3 player, the most it will go to even after leaving it for like a full day of charging is the first bar. If anyone is willing to help me with my problems thanks alot! Looking forward to hopefully using my Zen Micro for a long time!

I have had this problem creep up on me lately, but it doesn't happen every time though. I've been able to get around it by trying two or three times to reconnect it, but a couple of times it got right stubborn. In that situation, it seemed restarting my PC did the trick.
Not sure if that helps, but...

  • ZEN MICRO - PC Connection Probl

Recently my Zen Micro stopped working but after browsing the forum I managed to reset it and get it at least powering back on. My music library was wiped but at least now the radio is working OK. As there are no songs on my Zen I need to rebuild my library however when connecting it to the PC via the USB cable my computer fails to recognise the Zen as being plugged in. What I find strange though is that when connecting the Zen to the USB port my computer recognises that a device is connected but the Zen Micro Media Explorer fails to connect thus preventing me from importing any music onto my Zen.
Any help as to what is wrong and how to fix this would be appreciated. Also if anybody else has experienced this problem and been unable to fix it themself could you please let me know what the process is for sending it back to get it repaired, ie how long etc.
    Thanks in advance

They are probably encoded at kHz, which the Micro (nor any other Creative player) can play.
You'll need to re-encode them to 22 or 44kHz. Try something like dbPowerAMP.

I'm running on Windows XP Service Pack 2 and I have Windows Media Player 0.
...and my Zen Micro wouldn't be detected, so I formatted it completely and I tried reloading the firmware. My old Zen Micro with v firmware still connects perfectly well, but Windows just doesn't detect my v2 firmware (now no firmware) Zen Micro.

Windows DOES detect my Zen Micro now...but I still can't do anything with it. It appears as MTP player connected:

    bkBlade,
Check this Knowledgebase article SID0053 and make sure the USB registry entry is correct. If you do make changes to the registry base on the Knowledgebase info, then try reloading the v2 firmware again.

It has been reported by some of our customers that they have experienced reduced battery life after charging their Zen Micro. Our product development team has researched these reports and determined that the users may have experienced this after they plugged their Zen Micro into the AC adapter that was already inserted into a wall socket with the AC power on.
While this is not the conventional way to plug in a player for charging, we wanted to ensure that our customers did not experience this problem, so we have developed a solution to address this, which simply involves upgrading the Zen Micro's firmware.
If you need assistance in doing this, please contact our customer support team and they will be happy to assist you.
Important: If you are upgrading from PlaysForSure firmware, be sure to back up all the audio and data files on your Zen Micro before installing this firmware update as all content will be lost when you install the new firmware.
