Zen Micro Loading Prob

I have a problem that just happened a week ago with my Zen Micro: When I remove the battery and put it back in, or when I recharge it, the MP3 player won't go past the "CREATIVE" loading screen to rebuild my music library. But sometimes, it loads randomly. Now the blue lights on the border don't even stay on anymore. Anyone have any idea about how I should go about fixing this?

I tried to install new firmware for my Zen Touch. My computer froze during the process of installing the firmware and now it's in recovery mode. It isn't recognized in both Creative Mediasource and the firmware update program. My computer recognizes it as a device, but I can't do anything with it. I figured that maybe Windows Media player was causing the problem, so I rolled back to version 0, still no luck.Message Edited by Raul78 on -5-200605:8 PM

  • Creative Zen Micro Firmware Prob

So I've got a Zen Micro bout a year or two back and it stopped working a whle back.
It turns on fine but used to make a buzzing sound and?freeze. It had a small box with?'Firmware Problem' written on the screen.
Lately, it still makes the?buzzing sound but freezes on the Creative Logo screen.
I've tried to renew the Firmware and I tried the recovery tool thing, but neither worked.
Is there any way to fix it's Or is it totaly gone?
    Thanks in advance.

Did the firmware problem happen during a firmware update, or did it just happen all of a sudden, and if so how?
to re-load the firmware, download the latest firmware on a Windows XP machine, go to control panel, tne add/remove programs, look for windows media player and if its there click on remove, you should see a window saying something along the lines of windows media player rollback.
Next lok for something called ( or somethg like)windows media player runtime, and remove that ( it may show the roll back screen again, continue, and complete the process)
    re-start windows
Plug in your Creative MP3 player via USB connect it to a chharger ( if it uses/can use an external charger) and let it go to 'rescue mode'
Click on the firmware update, and when it asks you what language, highlight re-load OS ( or firmware) in recovery mode on your player.
As soon as the screen on your player prompts you to re-load firmware, click on your language choice on the P.C upgrade window.
If there is no language option, then get ready to select re-load OS on your player when the update starts on your P.C.
    This only works with XP
    If the above doesnt work:
Did the firmware error occur as a result of an attemtp to upgrade the formware to a plays for sure version?
Is the player regognised by your P.C running windows XP? ( go to control panel then hardware, then device manager?
This is what happened when i tried to upgrade ther firmware on my Zen xtra, what i did to fix it was based on what other people had tried on various other creative playerws such as the touch/micro/vision etc

  • Zen Mirco loading prob

I just bought my Zen Micro yesterday. I was very excited and hurried home to start downloading to my Zen. After I loaded all of the software and everything, I tried to transfer mp3's to the device and most of them would not transfer because it said that I did not have a liscence to transfer or something of the sort. I know that if I did not PURCHASE the song, it would not transfer, but I am sure there is a way around this. Can someone please let me know how?

Well I'm sure they were illegal if they were downloaded off of Limewire for free.
Discussing illegal music here will most likely get the thread locked, just to warn you. Not by me though, I'm not a moderator on this board, and I don't work for Creative.
I was trying to transfer them with the Creative software.
I think we need a little more info. Exactly what software you were using, how you were going about it, what the files are (MP3 or WMA) and what errors appear.
Do you think that there would be a problem if I transferred my CDs to the computer and then to my MP3 player? How would you go about doing that?
Very easy. Just rip the CD direct to the player using MediaSource. There are more complex ways if you're after very high fidelity ri

Would I have to subscribe to somewhere like Napster to be able to download files and transfer them?
If you want to get music from an online store, yes.

  • Zen Micro Sync Prob

Help! I have a Zen Micro with the laetst firmware, and the latest Creative MediaSource on Windows 2000 Pro. I just re-organised my directory structure, deleted everything from the PC Music Library and re-imported all the tracks (they're all WMA's FWIW). I then did a shed load of tag editing, to get them properly organised. So far, so good.
Then I deleted everything from the Zen, and tried to resync. Only about 80% of the tracks transferred, and the sync manager just reports that there were errors. There does not appear to be any consistency to this: some tracks with edited tags copy OK, others don't. Some albums have transferred only a couple of tracks, while others are fine.
    Any clues?
Update: If I save the tags info back from MediaSource to the files, then import the files directly into the Zen, it seems to work OK. Except that it won't import corrected track numbers (i.e. where I have taken a 2CD set and stored them as a single 'album', and rejigged the track numbers for the 2nd CD so they play in the right order.)Message Edited by wiggo on 07-2-2005 :07 PM

EXACT same problem here too. You can transfer tracks directly to the player and it will work, but it would appear that certain tracks with edited tags either sync twice (two copies, one with old tag info, one with new) or won't sync at all.
I have been meaning to call Creative regarding this, however, my ZM is currently RMA for a hard dri've issue so the call can wait.
I would love it if there was a consistant way to edit track info and have that info copy to PC/MIcro.
Anyways, just wanted to echo your words in hopes someone is either working on a fix, or knows how the user can conquer this issue.

  • Zen micro file prob

Hello, i own a red zen micro 5gb, last mtp firmware loaded. I had a problem with some mp3s i couldn't copy from the zen to the hd, and those files also played wrong (had gaps in it with "bits" of other mp3s..) and took longer times to move one song on or back. Then i had a format from recovery mode but **bleep**, the problem remains the same just with different mp3s (i didn't load exactly the same ones in order to see..). Got any clues about what to try?
    Thanks anyway fo reading

  • Zen micro FM prob

my 5gb zen micro doesn't have the option for changing from mono to stereo. but more than that, it doesn't have an option to choose between international or japan frequency...so my player doesn't pick up any frequency at all.
    is this true for others?
is it caused by the current firmware upgrade?

    thanks everyone...
it was my player that was defecti've.anyway, i was able to have the unit changed now i can listen to both radio and mp3s.
    thanks a bunch!

  • Zen Micro - Dock Prob

Ok, so I connect up my micro to the computer. All is well,it is recognised on device manager. I then go on Zen Micro Media Explorer and on the player, it keeps changing from the docked mode screen to normal playing mode... On the Media Explorer all the buttons are disabled and it says 'device is not connected'. I try go on Creative Media Source Organiser or Creative Media Source Player, and the Micro is listed on the left, but when I click on it an error message pops up saying "creative mediasource player has encoutered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the incnvinience."It doesn't show any specific error code or anything, but I have tried reinstalling the softwares, but no luck. The software itself is very unstable on my computer for some reason which I am unsure of, my computer can handle much more power demanding software such as Photoshop and other media programs, but MediaSource Player seems to run really slow, etc.Any suggestions anyone?rich

  • ZEN MICRO PLAYBACK PROB

I have some mp3 files of uni'versity lectures. They were recorded/ encoded? at

    ps.
When I try to play them on the Zen Micro they play too slow, like an LP playing at the wrong speed.
They sound fine on WMP0 or Real Player. I have also played these files on 3 other mp3 players and they sound fine on them. Any ideas?

You'll need to reencode them at a supported rate. I have a suspicion it's the bit-rate being too low, but also check the sampling frequency.

  • Zen Micro Remote Prob

I have now owned two remotes, one which I returned and another I just bought off eBay, and neither have worked on my Zen Micro. I can hear sound through earphones when I plug them into the headphone jack but pressing he buttons on the remote does nothing. I can't skip tracks or pause the music. The remote is not on hold, is there anything else i could try?

Well, Ebay could mean a few things. Was it a store on Ebay or a private seller? You might need to contact the seller to see if they can provide you with a (proper) receipt, that shows what you purchased and when you purchased it. If you bought it in November then you should still be within the 90 day (full) warranty. You do normally need a receipt to prove the original purchase and date.
Contact Customer Support anyway to see what they advise, and it wouldn't hurt to e-mail the seller to see if he/she can give you a receipt.

  • Zen Micro Update Prob

I have emailed Creative about 3 times aboute this problem. All they keep doing is sending back some stupid automated reply telling me how to set up my programs. I already know that.
I installed the last update of the Zen Micro. The one where it will now let you plug it into another computer and transfer things to it without installing all the drivers. It said it was going to lose all songs. I did what it told me to do and it lost all the songs. I did't really mind. It finished so I restarted the computer and i plugged it in. I went onto Zen Micro explorer. It did't know
it was connected. It was fine before the update. I uninstalled everything and put it alll back on again. Restarted my computer and it still could't find it.
    Please can you help
    me asap. Thank you.

ollyp wrote:the whole point of the v2 firmware is that it works with windows media player, and windows explorer someone told me. they have updated media explorer to accept it but its not designed to.
It depends if you prefer working with the folder view or not, and whether there are other reasons to switch to v2.

  • Zen Micro Shuffle Prob

Hi there, I have about 700 songs on my zen micro, and I mainly listen to it on Shuffle Repeat with All Tracks. This includes atleast 5 hours everyday at work, all of my driving, and all weekend camping this weekend, I've had this particular player for about 6 months now.. 6 GB. I know for sure that there are songs on my player that the player has NEVER played, and some songs and artists that it plays noticably more frequently than others, and I mean over the whole time i've had it. I also know that the songs that it never seems to play are songs that do work correctly, as I have scrolled through and found the songs I didnt remember I had and played them to see if they worked properly. It seems to me my player has a mind of its own, knows what music it likes and what it doesnt want to play for me.:smileyindifferent: Its very noticable, and im kindof frusterated. Does anyone else have this problem or know anything thats going on, or do I just have to put up with it. Yes, i also realize that if it's truly random, there is as much chance of the same songs being played over again as there is playing different ones. Thanks, Justin

    noroom wrote:
So, what you're saying is that shuffle creates a new "virtual" playlist, with the songs you selected in random order. This resulting in a song never being played twisce.
While random chooses the next song randomly, which could (theoretically) result in the same song being chosen 4 times in a row.
    Did I get it right?
Yep, kinda. I'm not sure I like the use of the word playlist as this could cause further confusion, it essentially just remembers what tracks were played but there is a limit to that memory and I've never seen a definiti've number for what that is and whether it varies by player.

  • Creative zen micro transfer prob

When using Napster to transfer songs to my zen micro mp3 player the following happens.
License storgae is not working.Contact microsoft product support.
When I hit click here for more information nothing happens.
It has worked previously without any problems! Can anybody help??

Here is a list of things to check:
) Confirm you have Windows Media Player 0 installed on your XP SP or later system.
    2) Confirm your Zen Micro has the latest 2.x firmware (2..02 Beta or later). The .x firmware does not support N2G. Download the 2..02 Beta firmware from http://us.creative.com/support/downloads
    3) Confirm KB8922 "Update for Windows Media Digital Rights Management-enabled players" is installed on your XP SP or later system with WMP 0. See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;8922 for details.
    4) Confirm your Zen Micro's system time is synched to the system time of your computer.
    5) Confirm XP and the Napster client recognize your Zen Micro is connected. It should display under the "Portable Device" object in the "Library" window of the Napster client. The Zen Micro Display should read "Docked". See if you can transfer files using WMP 0. Confirm the Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer version .00. ( http://us.creative.com/support/downloads ) can access your Zen Micro. Can it transfer tracks to the device?
    6) Confirm your firewall is not interfering with the connection to Napster or to the internet for current date and time. Consider disabling firewall, Antivirus, and Spyware Scanners as a diagnostic step to troubleshoot your transfer issue.
    7) Consider reinstalling Windows Media Player 0 and KB8922.
    8) Check the USB cable connection. Determine the USB chipset on your system. There are forum threads where users resolved transfer problems by installing a new USB Adapter with a different chipset or determined the problem was the USB cable. You can also troubleshoot by attempting the transfer on another computer (if available).

  • Zen Micro - Battery prob

Hi, i got a problem with the micro battery i charged the battery but only after 3 hours 2 battery lines have decreased, why the battery empty itself so fast? (sorry for my bad english)

    (Here I am!)
Frost: There's lots of information on this in the FAQ post. If you aren't getting the full life then something is different in your setup to the test specification, which is 28kbit/s CBR MP3s with no EQ, Smart Volume etc.

  • HUGE Zen Micro Music Prob

Ok...i've had this problem practically since day ...i got it for x-mas. Everytime i add a song...it doubles it. Just recently...i added 57 songs. I look on the list...on my computer...and GUESS WHAT?!?! 44 (ish) songs...woohoo. What do i do?
Please dont say delete each double...that will take WAY TOO LONG!

sorry..it was clear in my head ;-)
I just meant that all i'm doing is the ripping phase. i am not moving the tracks to the zen device, just ripping cd tracks to my laptop. is use zen micro explorer for the ripping phase; notmad will not rip cd's. ultimately, i would transfer to the device using notmad. BUT, the duplicates show in the library immediately upon ripping the cd. it does not happen when i download a song, only when the tracks go into the library from a cd. Ideas?
    Not life-threatening, but certainly annoying.
