Zen Micro - MTP playback control functional

I want to buy a zen micro v2 which supports MTP.
I know that the v2 version of Zen Micro is MTP enabled player.
Microsoft has released MTP specification 0.83, which does not have playback control functionality. Mocrosoft has said that it will release the specification for this playback control in one or two months of time. But they have released an intermediate version of this MTP which has this playback control functionality.
A scenario to understand my question:
When you connect Zen Micro to a car stereo system, you can not control its playback functionality from the car stereo's head unit. To be more specific you can not issue Play/Pause/Stop/Volume increase/Volume decrease commands from the car stereo's head unit.
So please tell whether zen micro has this support? If not will it be providing this functionality in the coming months?
please suggest me any other Zen palyers which has this functionality.
Thanks in advance,
Regards.

DM, the Micro's remote control works exactly as you suggested; it's an inline remote that plugs into the headphone jack, and the headphones plug into the remote.
Unfortunately, I think the problem is more along the lines of car audio manufacturers' willingness to design a physical interface between a car stereo and the Micro than anything in the MTP spec. Microsoft can enable this kind of control in the MTP spec all it wants to, but until manufacturers are willing to use physical interfaces other than the iPod dock connector, it's all for naught.

  • Zen Micro Wired Remote Control Prob

Anybody having problems with their supplied zen micro wired remote control?
Mine seems to be having a connection problem with the player, slight movements will cause breakages in the music, left earphones will cease playing out.
Seems that some people are having problems with zen micro's earphone jacks, however, using the supplied the earphones(minus the wired remote control) works well.

hmm, I had same problem with 2 days- was definetly a loose connection in the wiring of the remote plug, as has been no problem with other headpohnes, and is not the 'heasdphone jack' issue (yet! thank god!)
took 3 weeks to get replacement remote from creative (only returned remote, not Zen, luckily) have not really messed around with the replacement yet, but looks ok.... am really hoping so cos it is really useful for going mountain biking with the zen nice & secure in my backpack....

  • PETITION: Update to the Zen Micro MTP Firmw

I don't know, maybe I'm the only one who has this issue but I would like Creative to fix the bugs in the Zen Micro MTP firmware. I used this version for half a day. In that span, the computer froze three times and I had to re-install the device twice. In lieu of this, I think Creative really needs to review this firmware as it caused major problems for me (and maybe other users). The new firmware update could also include what users want most......an always visible clock and a more accurate battery indicator.

99+ % of MP3 files, that is. Some Sony Ericsson cell phones actually support a DRM version of MP3 (possibly proprietary, but I think it's an Open Mobile Alliance feature available to all cell-phone makers), largely to help carriers block the phone's ability to use ordinary MP3 files as ringtones, and thus force users to buy ringtones from carrier-approved sites. (Vodafone in the UK does this regularly, but Cingular, the only US national carrier that regularly sells Sony Ericsson, didn't with my phone.)
Sony Ericsson used to provide a "DRM Packager" freely to developers to insert DRM into MP3 ringtones; phone hackers discovered it and bypassed Vodafone's locks by using it to make their own DRM'ed MP3's for download to their phones. Sony Ericsson eventually took it down, though warez sites still carry it, and presumably some real developers can still get it. (No, I won't tell how to get it; I'm not about to be banned.)
Of course, this DRM isn't approved by the major labels for anything other than ringtones (and isn't supported by anything but cell phones), so obviously any MP3 file that gets near a Micro, or any other stand-alone MP3 player, isn't DRM'ed.

  • Zen Micro MTP not recognized? Solution in he

So, after scouring the forums here and Google in search for a reason why my MTP enabled Zen Micro wasn't being recognized in a fresh WinXP install. Well here's the solution everybody.
    Try installing this:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;8922
I noticed that the player isn't recognized by drivers from the net or the Zen Micro CD (They're both the same anyways). The reason why is because the Device ID for the Zen Micro with the MTP firmware is different (USB\VID_04E&PID_430\00525530038FF3). If you open up the .inf file used to install this player, the Device ID is not in there.
I had another XP install on another HDD which recognized the Zen Micro and noticed that only a single file was being used for the drivers: wpdusb.sys.A search on Google brought me to the Microsoft KB page. I installed that patch and poof instant recognition.
I also believe this issue could be resolved if you install the latest Windows Media Player 0 available. I had it installed, but somehow that file wasn't installed and the update provided it for me.
    I hope this helps somebody~! =)

The only other suggestion to what the problem could be is a a software conflict of the driver and current software on your system that is interferring with the recognizing of your player. I had the same problem happen, and I tried my Micro on three different computers, and the Micro worked, instantly, and my Zen use to work on my computer before an upgrade.
Somewhere in between of any other updates of software on the computer, there must be a conflict. My player will become recognizable once in a blue moon, which also leads to the conclusion of software conflict, or possibly IRQ issue.
Maybe the latest driver just released may fix the issues of eliminating if it doesn't cause any conflicts with other softwares that are on your system for your Micro to be recognized.

  • Zen Micro - slower playback at low bitra

While trying to listen to 32kbs mp3s on my Zen micro I encountered a very strange problem - it plays at about half speed.
The above mentioned mp3s are fine otherwise, winamp, etc. can play them at a correct speed. I installed the latest available firmware, etc. to the Micro (with autoupdate), but problem stays the same...
    Help me pls!
    Thanks
    Dav
PS. don't ask me why Iam trying to play 32kbs mp3s - sample soundbytes from online record store... so if u can't help, I can't buy more records ever.

Sample rate is ,025 kHz... pretty common, no?
In general specifications I found Micro plays mp3s "up to 320kbs" - not limited from the lower end.
I just find it strange that a $200 gadget cannot do what an old-old version of winamp (or any other mp3 player softvware) can do (namely to playback low-quality mp3s).
In earlier threads I've read that resampling (recoding perhaps?) would do the trick - in my case it would mean resampling 00-50 (small) files per week. I'd rather bring my laptop with me...
    Thanks for the answer, anyhow.

  • Zen Micro MTP Firmw

    Hi all,
I have a basic question about the MTP Firmware : when it is installed and I connect my ZM to my XP PC, will I be able to drag and drop regular mp3 files on the ZM, as if it were an external HDD ? That is, without relying on WM 0 sync. features ? Thanks.

  • My Zen Micro Photo isn't functioning! H

So, I turn it on, the creative screen comes up along with smaller words underneath, then the blue border turns on then off, and then the screen has only creative written on it. And it just stays that way, despite it being plugged into the computer. It was working before either so I went into the recover mode and reformatted once and then took the firmware off or something, and the computer won'tt recognize it. Is is time to try sending it back? Thanks

I just started a thread on the same thing: http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=dap&message.id=5772
I don't have the Photo version but I'm having the same issue.

  • Zen Micro scroll bar malfunct

For the last four weeks or so, the vertical scroll bar on my Zen Micro has been intermittently malfunctioning. It always permits me to scroll downwards, but when it's not working, it doesn't let me scroll upwards. This causes problems, especially when I accidentally end up lowering the volume instead of raising it and get the volume stuck at 0. Previously, after a day or two, the scroll bar returned to normal temporarily and I was able to raise the volume again. Once, after the machine malfunctioned for several consecuti've days, I emailed Creative. They recommended that I install new firmware. The scroll bar worked for a few hours and then failed again.
After the most recent scroll bar failure, three days ago, I waited to see if the bar would return to normal. When it hadn't by this morning, I tried reloading the PlaysForSure firmware (L6_2_2_02), which was the same as the firmware I last installed on the machine, today. That firmware load failed, so I loaded the alternate firmware (LB___0). None of this worked -- and the volume didn't even restore itself to some middle-ground level. Before, during and after the firmware reloading, my volume control has been stuck at 0, rendering the player effecti'vely useless.
I can't do a disk cleanup or reformat through the reset window, as the default option for both of those settings is NO, which is physically below YES on the menu and I can't scroll up.
My warranty has expired. I don't want to send the player to Creative for service, because I don't know how expensi've it would be to fix the player. Frankly, as I had to replace the player for two other malfunctions twice during the warranty period, the next time I spend money on an MP3 player it'll be a different brand.
Can any of you help me? Thank you so much for reading this long.

This is just a shot in the dark, but did you have your headphones plugged into the jack while trying to scroll?
I've noticed on my Zen Micro that the scroll function is sometimes balky without the headphones connected, but it works perfectly with them plugged in.

  • Zen Micro . . a few quer

Hello all, I'm glad to have found the forum. I've been reading through pages and pages . . . my eyes are pretty sore, but most of my issues are resolved, except a few (which I probably overlooked the solutions)By the way, I own a red zen micro, purchased around Oct 27/05, version 3.0.9) When you make a playlist, is there a way to re-order the tracks within the playlist? I've tried pushing shift and all that does for me is highlight more tracks. 2) I've heard about the battery issue and i've tried to read the million pages concerning it, but does anyone know where I could the "update" that I read about in the FAQ that decreases stand-by hours? Which versions already have this downloaded?3) Low Volume Issue. I've also searched for this but haven't found a definite answer. The best I found was from the Nomad site ? <B>Why is the volume low on my Zen?</B>
align=justify>One possible reason for low volume is the European firmware version. To comply with EU regulations the volume from the headphone jack has been reduced. To check if you have the European firmware look for an "e" at the end of the firmware version (Settings > About). To override this download the International firmware for your player from http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=dap&message.id=54249&view=by_date _ascending&page=Does anyone know if Creative will ever get these for us for xmas? And sorry to be so bothersome, but if anyone knows offhand .. how come the font can't be highligted in the post box?

First of all, welcome to the Creative Forums!
. I use Zen Mico Media Explorer ver. 4.00.27 to organize my Micro. I like the simplicity of drag & drop file transfer. In playlists, I arrange tracks by highlighting and dragging them to where I want.
    2. I use firmware ver. .. and it's resolved the initial battery drain issue.
    3. Low volume? Not on my player at least. When I use it in my car with an FM transmitter, I have the volume almost at maximum. I've made the mistake a few times of forgetting to turn it way down before plugging my headphones in again. Yeee-ouch!!!!
    4. I've had my Micro for nearly a year now and except for one tiny scratch that happened when I carelessly put the Zen's Remote into the same case and its metal clasp contacted the screen, it still looks brand new. I use a couple of different cases for it. One is a modified PDA case that I got for a couple of bucks on the discount table at a large electronics store: open and closed.
I also use a small camera case that seals up very well against dust when I'm at work at a sawmill. I use the Zen Micro Remote to control it without having to open the case up.Message Edited by skb on -29-2005 06:3 PM

  • Zen Micro not recognised after installing Media Player 11 Bet

    Can anyone help?
I've updated Windows Media Player 0 to version Beta 2 and now my Zen Micro (Firmware 2.2.02 Playforsure) isn't recognised anyway on my system.
I've tried to re-install the CD but this doesn't do anything. I've download all the updates I can find on Creative's website and that does nothing.
I can't even use the Zen Micro MTP exlorer as this has disappeared off my system.
    I'm running Windows XP SP2.
    HELP!

The problem will be the same I would think because the issue is that the player is an older one, so WMP does not recognise it. Unless they change it in te full version, which is probably only a slim chance, you will still need to download the hotfix and the other update.
But if i were you i wait for the full version anyway, the Beta 2 is better but still far from perfect...

  • ZEN MICRO, USB wont recognize the device

Hello, I recently bought a Zen Micro, and I plugged it in via the usb cable, and installed the drivers for it. After installing the drivers, I clicked on Zen Micro Media Explorer, and it said to please plug in your zen micro. The player functions, I can go through the menus and things, but my usb will not recognize the device.. HELP? I also went on the site and got the latest drivers. I also tried it on a different computer, with the same result. Did I forget to install something? <!--- IF THERE IS A SURVEY FOR THIS CATEGORY GET THE RESPONSES --->

what i did when I first got my zen micro, as the instructions said, to insert the installation CD and install everything before plugging in the zen micro.
maybe you can try deleting everything, then reinstalling the software from the installation CD then plug in your micro to see if that works...

  • Help .. my Zen Micro Media Explorer (MTP) is in chin

When i have installed Zen Micro Media Explorer (MTP) . It turned out to be in chinese .. is there anyway to change it to english ? .. the previous version of Zen Micro Media Explorer is in english version .. yet i cant figure out why Zen Micro Media Explorer (MTP) is in chinese .. please reply asap .. thanks !

    draike,
Most likely you had set the regional & language setting in control panel to be in Chinese and that's why your Media Explorer are installed in Chinese. You should uninstall the Media Explorer and make sure that the regional & language setting in control panel are set to English and then proceed to install the Media Explorer application.

  • Zen Micro detected as MTP Device? Is that norm

The Zen Micro drivers under C:\Program Files\Creative\Jukebox 3 Drivers\ no longer work after the firmware upgrade, but I was able to install it as a generic "MTP Device". Is this normal? Shouldn't it be labeled as Creative Zen Micro and not MTP Device?
It still works with WMA and Napster To Go, but I'm concerned that I cannot install the Zen Micro Media Explorer because it cannot find the player.

I'm having the same problem!!? Today I downloaded the latest firmware (2.2.02) to see if it would then allow me to transfer a Real Player download I bought (it didn't, that's a whole separate, awful problem).
After I downloaded the firmware, now when I connect my Zen Micro player by USB, the computer detects it as an MTP device and neither my Zen Micro MEdia Explorer software nor the Creative MediaSource Organizer will recognize it!!
I had to re-transfer all my songs just with windows?folders copying files from one folder to the "mtp device".
What?does this MTP device mean? Why did this change? Is my creative software now useless?
    Any help? thanks so much!!

  • Creative Zen Micro 5GB: Freezing on transfers & during playback (Please He

Ok, Here is a problem I am having.
My Zen is freezing no matter what program i use to place music on it.
The transfer will begin and rarely get or 2 songs on but more often it will reach about 30% on the first song, freeze and remain here till i unplug it and go into recovery mode by taking the battery out.
    THINGS I HAVE TRIED:
*Changing the firmware (at least 0 times for each firmware available on this site)
*Formatting & Defragging (Don't even get me started how many times)
*Using different software (WMP0, Creative Sync and Every other one included with Creative Zen Micro Explorer)
    *Upgrading software
Now i am a qualified electronic repairer and i have dismantled my zen and a friends (whom dropped it and bought a new one) i have from here changed the hard dri've thinking this may be the source of the problem (yes i am aware the warranty is void now but when i placed the battery in the first time i got it the sticker broke) This has done nothing so i have placed the original HD back in.
I have NO idea what to do now!
I can not afford a new mp3 player, have no warranty YET i do have the ability to repair this by myself.
If anyone has ANY suggestions whatsoever i am willing to try them, of course still sensible.
Please PLEASE PLEASE! help me out. i will be gratefully for any help i can get.

Why does Creative make it so easy to Reload the firmware, and why do soo many people choose this option!?!?!?
    /end venting
pdk, your task now is to get your computer to recognize your player. I have a feeling that you are using a v2 firmware. Do you see the words MTP Device anywhere when you connect the player to your computer? If so then follow the steps listed <a href='http://www.nomadness.net/modules.php?name=FAQ&myfaq=yes&id_cat=8&categories =Nomad+Jukebox+Zen#228' target=_blank>here[/url]. Then use the firmware provided on your CD and see if it can recognize your player. You might have problems since you choose the Reload firmare option in Recovery Mode.
