Zen Micro Not Detected in Safely Remove Hardw

I recently bought the 6GB Zen Micro and installed PlayforSure and WMP0. My understanding is that I didn't have to install anything else. The player works fine and is detected in WMP0 but I don't see it in the Safely Remove Hardware Icon in the System tray when I want to disconnect it. I'm afraid I'm going to ruin my hard dri've if I don't disconnect it properly. I checked in the Device Manager too and I didn't see it listed there either. HELP!!

Don't worry, I have the 2..02 firmware as well, and use Windows Explorer to copy. Basically I just make sure I'm not running anything that accesses the player e.g. WMP or Explorer, then I disconnect it. Never had a problem.

  • Dime in a dozen? Zen Micro not detect

As the title explains it, the Zen Micro, bought last June, is not detected. Initially, it was always stuck on the Creative start-up screen. So, I when I finally made it to the recovery screen, I did a firmware "reload". I then connected it to the PC for the reloading of latest "2.2.2.0" firmware.
From there, I experienced the "Your player is not connected, please connect your player" sign.
I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling the issued one (in driver disk, though it didn't work) and from the website (newer version, to no avail).
Currently, whenever I connect the Micro to the computer, an autoplay option menu pops up and asks if I would like to use WMP, windows explorer or take no action. I chose the latter all the time. However, once it pops up, the screen on the micro changes to the "recovery mode(not too sure if the word is mode)", where I can't control the player. Currently, I have done the disk clean up and formatting on it too.
Any suggestions? I won't take no for an answer. However, if there is reallly no suggestion, I would much appreciate it if anyone could give me instructions to take it to a repair center, and the approximate cost. By the way, I li've in Singapore.
Sorry for the long post though, and thank you in advance.

I think WMP is the root of many of these connection problems. I upgraded my Zen Touch, then found out it would not work with the existing MTP firmware. I could not connect the player to upgrade the firmware, so had to revert back to WMP0 to get that done. From then on, my player is not recognized despite exhausting everything I've found here and elsewhere. Creative says on their knowlegebase that what I did causes this issue and that they are investigating a firmware upgrade to correct it. What they should do is warn people about upgrading firmware to the latest version BEFORE trying WMP. I see nothing about this other than in obscure places where somebody might find it AFTER they are stuck.

  • Zen Micro "not detect

The software and drivers installation seems fine but my laptop doesn't seem to detect the new shiny Zen Micro (5Gb) when i plugged it in. (I'm using a BenQ 500G .6Ghz Centrino laptop with Windows XP SP2 installed). I tried plugging it in on another laptop, a clean install of Windows XP and ME, changing the USB cable still the problem persist. I noticed that I can't get the battery to be fully charged either. The battery indicator either shows a single or two bar only (even after more than 3 hours of charging). Has anyone had any issues with the batteries? I know some folks has had problems with the connection too.. Please advice. Thanks!

I already did. The shop had problem testing a couple of new Zen Micros on their machine as well. I guess I'd save a couple of potential owners the agony of trying to have their player workin. The salesgirl couldn't stop saying how sorry she was and was kind enough to help me with the problem. Now that's good customer service! Otherwise if the shop still can't help me with the problem, Creative HQ in Singapore is just a walk away from my home. I would sure be banging on their door!
Anyways I guess Creative must have some bad production batch in stores so folks make sure you have the shop test them for you before you finalize the sale. That would have help me I guess.
I have to say the problems I faced did not diminish the fact that the Zen Micro is indeed an excellent MP3 Player. So any of you who have intentions of getting one go get it. This is a support forum so you'll see only the "bad" stuff!

  • Zen Micro - not detected after installing new flashc

I replaced the flashcard in my Zen Micro. Everything went well until I tried to connect the player to my computer and download the firmware. I get a message that the player is not detected.
I have read a lot of posts on this and other forums and tried many solutions--connecting the player to another computer, deleting the player from the hardware list in Device Manager and reconnecting it, connecting it to different USB ports, and using different software (Windows Media Player, Creative MediaSource, RealPlayer, etc.). So far, nothing has worked.
My computer is running Vista. I have another one that is running Windows XP. If anyone has suggestions for working around this on either system, I'd be grateful! Otherwise, I'm afraid my beloved Zen Micro is a goner... :-(
    Thank you!

The problem will be the same I would think because the issue is that the player is an older one, so WMP does not recognise it. Unless they change it in te full version, which is probably only a slim chance, you will still need to download the hotfix and the other update.
But if i were you i wait for the full version anyway, the Beta 2 is better but still far from perfect...

  • Zen Micro not detected

I'm running vista, and I do not have the original boot CD. I looked all over the forums here and tried the different fixes, but they all failed due to the fact that the computer would not recognize the player when I connected it. The firmware, the applications, and the drivers all need to recognize the player, but it's not being recognized.
(even though if I plug it in, windows would recognize it and try to find the drivers for me and fail)

You will NOT be able to update the firmware on that OS so don't try. You can use the player on the system though. I used this method to install my older players on my Vista computer. http://mrinternet.wordpress.com/2007...ether-finally/ I also understand some have done the same on Win 7 systems too. The driver is the first item you need to install. You will find it on page this is the link to page 2 (scroll down on page & click one )? http://support.creative.com/download...le=033&nPage=2

Strange that WMP doesn't detect it, presumably you have v0? Worth checking the link "problems with connecting using MTP firmware" in the FAQ post and installing the hot fixes.
Also make sure you have the latest software with MTP updates, by downloading and installing the following:
    . Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2
    2. Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices
    3. Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update
Before installing connect the player to the PC. Then install 2 and 3 (the player must be connected for to verify you have a Creative product).

  • Zen Micro not detec

Hi,My Zen Micro is detected when I plug it in the port for recharge but when it comes to transferring songs, it is not present in creative mediasource organizer or Windows Media Player for syncing. I read a sticky thread on this telling me to clean up or format but what is my guarantee that this will work and that I will be able to put songs back? So what are my options? I am doing a clean up now since it won't affect the files but then after, what can I do?PS. I have another problem which started at the same time where I don't see which song is playing in the "Now Playing" screen nor do I see how long is left to the track and can't rewind or fast forward. Thanks for the helpDavid

I emailed tech support and they told me to reinstall the firmware which we can't do since our player isn't detected. So the next option was then to send it to them for repairs or replacement. I think our problem is a hardware problem. My father who is an electric technologist opened up the player (it killed it totally don't try it) and we saw that there were broken parts where the port was. The thing is Creative won't fix those kinds of problems for free. They are not covered at all by any warranty. They were asking for 25 just for shipping, plus necessary costs so we said screw it. Our problem is hardware and I know exactly what mine if from: I've dropped it too many times. So there is absolutely no solution and I'm going around looking for a new mp3 player.

  • Problems with Zen MIcro not turning on or

I have a problem with my Zen Micro not turning on or off. The only way to turn it on is to plug it into the power or USB cable :-(
I have done a quick search and the posts that I have found on this topic suggest that I will need to send it back to Creative! Anyone found a "magic" solution for this problem other than sending it back?
I have done a firmware upgrade just in case that would solve the problem but unfortunately it did not.
What with this problem and the earlier problems I had with battery life I am thinking of sending the thing back and going for a different Creative player. The Zen Sleek seems to have a good range of features ... anyone had any good or bad experiences with the Sleek?
    Any comments appreciated.

well..unfortunatly i have had this same problem. i made a topic about it and some of u may have read it..i can't seem to find it now. but i have found the resolution to this problem..send it back! i baught my from circuit city..i just got home from there..very nice guy helped me out at the customer service counter. grabbed my receipt, all the contents it origionally included and the box and headed to circuit city. i did exchange the zen micro for another zen micro. we both converstaed with eahochter about how i have heard other ppl complain about this problem. creative needs to do there homework. hopefully it won't happen to me again.

  • New Zen Micro is detected by windows but not software - I have NOT done firmware upda

Hi, I just bought a brand new Zen Micro. The software installation went fine.
After plugging in the unit to my USB port, a message appears on the windows taskbar saying "Nomad Jukebox 2/3/Zen Detected".
I would assume this is the normal message. I then attempt to transfer files via Creative Mediasource. Howerver when I load up the creative mediasource software, I get an error message saying "Player is not connected". Naturally of course the Zen Micro is indeed connected. I can not transfer any files and the player locks up.
I have not updated the firmware or anything, it is a fresh out of the box brand new unit. I run Windows mediaplayer 0, windows XP (SP).
Is there a way to resolve this issue, or am I doing something wrong?
Please help a new zen micro user thanks in advance!

I also Just, few hours back fully charged my Micro and got it working. I downlaoded the latest firmware released in Feburary. But i decided il only use it if something was wrong with the player. Mine went smooth....
Fully charged it while installing the software on the CD, unplugged the AC, I didn't sue the White USB cable it came with (lots of people say tis crap) So i sued my Sony Digicam USB cable which is always connected to my pc anyway.
Plugged my player into the USB cable while the player was On.
Done.... Windows Xp Pro detected it, 2 icons in My Computer popped up, One was the shortcut to the media source software and one was the player itself kinda liek a removable dri've.
My firmware is .0.30 and opening Widnows Media player 0, and hit Synch Tab, my player responded, and said Docked. And within 5 minutes most of my music was on....
I dotn get how some othe rpeoples players are playign up so much.
Maybe only people who have problems ever post so it seems like everyones having a problem. lol
Oh and i would recommend not to do a firmware update unless soemthings wrong wiht ur player. I wont risk it if i were you.

  • Help! My Zen Micro is detected but not connected to zen media explorer & mediasou

    Hi
recently i just bought a creative zen micro at 5 GB. after installing all the drivers and programs using the installation CD that came with my player, I connected my player through the USB cable to my pc USB root hub.
an auto-detect of my zen micro window pops up at the righthand corner, prompting me to click 'organize' in the creative media source. clicking the organize option, mediasource program starts but while it is loading the music library, an error message: CTCMS, The program has performed a illegal operation......etc.
i tried disconnecting my player followed by opening the media source prog and connecting my player after that. another error message: file operation failed. please ensure that your player is properly connected.
I'm using windows 98 SE on an AMD processor. i was able to use the removable disk mode of my player to store data from pc. However when comes to the media mode of my player, it is shown as not connected status in the zen micro media explorer and in the creative media source program, it's either shown as not properly connected or illegal operation when loading music library from my player. in addition, under the device manager, the creative zen micro driver is shown as working properly. i was also able to upgrade my firm ware to version .02.05. using my pc to connect to my player. However, even before upgrading the firmware, this problem is already present. i have contacted the creative technical support helpdesk for advise on this issue and they have suggested to me various solutions such as checking my drivers if they are updated, reinstalling the drivers and software applications for the media library, installing jet engine service pack for my windows and the MDAC component but still nothing works.
anyone have any suggestions? pls help
    thanks

    Hi,
Sorry I can't help you. I just wanted to let you know I have the same exact problem. It started three days ago and I've been going back and forth with creative support and nothing has worked. I am beginning to grow really distressed. I feel a little better now because after seeing that it's happening with someone else, it is most likely not the player. I am running windows 98 SE as well. I also have an AMD Duron processor. I have a new computer on the way with windows XP I really hope it works. But now I have a new problem. I listed it on the front page of this forum a few minutes ago. My player froze and now only boots up in rescue mode. I am getting so frustrated with my player. If you figure anything out will you be as kind as to send me a message on how you got your player working again? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

  • Zen Micro, not recognized by co

Firstly, I can safely say, I am a novice at this sort of thing, so any help anyone can offer needs to be very easy to understand.
I have loaded the software provided, i can upload music to the media player, but what I cant do is download to the Zen Micro from the media player. I have formatted the mp3 player and removed the firmware. But when i tried to reload the updated firmware it didn't register my mp3 player.
so basically, how do I get mp3 player recognized by my computer so i can download tracks.
Help is appreciated as I got this as a Christmas present and as yet, have not been able to use it.
    thanks
    Jackc007

Do you have Windows Media Player 0 installed, and Service Pack or 2 for Win XP installed?

  • ZEN MICRO CONNECTION DETECTION & FIRMWARE PROBLEM! Please help

Last night i installed the new 'plays for sure' firmware for my creative zen micro 4gb. I have windows media player 0 and my system is running service pack 2 by the way.
The firmware installed fine and i went on media player to transfer all my music back onto the player.
This took ages! But it said it was on there ok.
Just to be sure i went into the E dri've- for the first time the player had registered there so i could check everythign went on ok.
All the music was there just fine.
I disconnected it from the PC and turned it on... and it's completely empty! I went to information in the player to check that what i was seeing was true and the player just crashed. The only way to turn it off was to remove the battery.
I have reinstalled the driver and reconnected the player and windows xp does the noise to let me know the player is connected... but it isnt being detected by media player and it doesnt come up in My Computer.
Please help asap!!! Sorry this is a long post!!!

This is the odd part. If you copied to the E dri've you must have copied to the USB mass storage area of the player (the player can be configured with up to 4Gb of USB mass storage that's ONLY for data files). The player should appear as a device in Windows Explorer for the audio part, so copy the files to that, NOT to the E dri've.

  • Zen Micro not recognized on one PC but is fine with 2 oth

Before I get totally frustrated with my PC, not the new Zen Micro 6g, what could I be overlooking to get the software and the PC to recognize this unit's This PC has Windows XP (no service packs installed), and after restoring system and reinstalling the software, I have the same problem: I connect the Zen to the USB cable, it says "Found New Hardware" and then proceeds to want to reinstall the software and drivers again from the CD. Naturally, it should have picked up the installed software and drivers but it hasn't.
On my other 2 PCs, one with Win XP sp2 and the other, my Toshiba laptop with Windows Media Player 2005 Edition, no problems at all. Immediately recognized the player after installation of the software and drivers.
I am almost at the point of not bothering to install it on the last PC as it works on 2 out of 3 fine but I would like to find out what could possibly be the problem. The two towers are identically set up: same Intel865Perl mbs, same hardware - only difference is the OS.
I have unistalled and reinstalled, system restored a few times, and I give up.
    Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks everyone. Oh, boy, I have a lot to search out, huh? Well, the chipsets are the same. The OS's are different though. I tried the USB from the mb....nothing. I do have an add-in card from Adaptec which is a dual connect card....contains 3 USB ports and 2 firewire ports. Nice card, usually works fine. All my other USB devices such as Canon camera, Sony camera, all work fine from both places. But, it might not like the Zen. Not sure why Zen wouldn't be compatible with an Adaptec USB card but I do know that Windows XP with no service packs does NOT recognize 2.0. just .. And I do get a message that states that I am connect a high-speed device with a non-high speed USB port. If that's the problem, why does it say "Found New Hardware" in the first place? And it does show up in Device Manager when connected, but with the yellow markings. It's listed under "Other Devices", and if I remove it, reboot and reconnect, the same message comes up asking me to install the drivers again.
I could upgrade this PC but I don't think that is going to make any difference, except that it will recognize the 2.0 USB ports.
I'm going to keep trying until I get it right. Any other ideas short of giving up?

  • Problem with Creative Zen Micro software detecting certain C

    Hi,
I hope someone can help me. I recently purchased a Creative Zen Micro MP3 player. So far, I have very few complaints, apart from the fact that while travelling on the bus, it won't seem to detect any radio stations.
The problem re: the software though is that it will only detect the last track on three of my CD's. None of these CD's are damaged in any way, but all are from the same record label. Anyway, I was wondering if anybody had any tips on how I might be able to transfer these albums onto my player?
    Thanks a lot.
