Zen Micro Pb after 1.11.01 upgr

Hello,
My zen was running fine using the .0.03. After upgrading to ..03, I have the following symptoms:
- freeze at boot
- freeze when listening music (random + EQ ON + SMART VOL ON)
- rebuild the library sometimes
Never had this behaviour when using .0.03 !
Perform a disk clean up : still have the pb !
Any advice or comments ?
Regards.

I have finally been successful on upgrading my micro.
But something stange according to me happens: after having reloaded the firmware and trying to install the ..0 firmware, the software tells me that my current firmware version is ..0.
Is it normal ?
I have forced the reinstallation of the ..0 firmware. Is this right ?
I will let you you know, if I still have some pb after doing this kind of manipulation.
Regards.

  • Zen Micro Crashes After Song Trans

after i have finished transferring songs for windows media to my micro, and then i disconnect it (even when the white arrow screen shows), it crashes and i have to remove the battery. awhile ago it wasnt even transferring, anybody else having similar problems or a solution? pls help

Tried a disk cleanup? To access the Rescue Mode on the Zen Micro, remove the battery, hold the power switch to the "on" position, reinsert the battery. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu. Note: Disk cleanup should not remove your tracks. It searches through the disk for files and rebuilds the index, and can be useful for correcting any strange behaviour.
Can you check with another PC to see if you get the same problem?

  • Zen Micro dead after an attempt to update firmw

My Zen Micro is not even a year old. I started having problems at the start of the new year. It just went to Recovery Mode. At first, none of the 3 options worked. My laptop was unable to detect the device. Today after a driver update on my machine, it found my Zen. The 3 options now worked, but did not fix. I just got more responses from my zen. But it remained in recovery mode. I decided to reload firmware via usb (since the 2 options gave no + result). I got as far as the "gear"?image then it froze. I had no choice but to unplug my zen. Now, it is dead. Doesn't power on. Doesn't charge via USB nor directly from a power outlet.Changed batteries. The same. Can anyone help? Desperate since I just bought a remote, charger and new batteries... expecting it will last.Message Edited by MeiMei on 0-25-200705:46 PM

I tried to send an email to creative but was denied since my product was purchased over a year ago, and it dosnt look like im going to get the help i need here so i give up.
Creative wins, they get my hard earned money in exhange for a defecti've piece of **bleep** i havent been able to get working satisfactoraly since i got it and am now forced to replace...
Before purchasing one of their mp3 players i thought so highly of creative. I usually am more careful before making such a purchase but I, as many others, had trust in this company renowned for its sound cards. Even after the purchase i just told myself "a company like creative wont let this product sit with crappy firmware for long, they'll update it and it will be a great player" So instead of returning it when i should have a sat on it, and my dreams never materialized and now im stuck with a paperweight that wont install any firmware now because of a known issue with their product!
quote from SSR in another thread with the same problem,
"Unfortunately there are others who've got stuck after removing the v2 firmware, and can't apply the same or the v firmware. I suggest you contact support and hopefully they can resolve it for you. Please post back here if you get a remedy."
But i cant contact customer support, they refused to help me because my warrenty is out. If someone knows of a way to fix my problem please feel free to still post in this thread i will still check it in hopes of fixing my player, this forum is now my only hope with creative email support outright refusing to help me.
Thanks to anyway who actually read all these long winded posts but im done with creative...

  • Zen Micro undetected, after PlaysForSure Firmware upgrade! *USB 2.0 er

Half way through the PFS?firmware installation, a Found new Hardware window pop up, prompt me to install software for USB 2.0 device. I carried on to install hardware, but it just can't find the suitable software. After I close the pop up, the upgrade installation went dead. The next time i plug my zen micro, the pc can't detect it! The only thing workable is the removable disk. I can't reinstall the software becos the pc cannot detect the zen micro (i tried all usb ports)? Some other info:-Everytime i plug my zen micro in, the Found new Hardware window will pop up, prompt me to install software for USB 2.0 device. Before u tell me it's my chipset problem, i have no problem with other devices that use usb 2.0, and this problem occurs ONLY after i tried installing the firmware, ONLY on zen micro. My zen micro was working PERFECTLY fine before this. -My?zen micro's system information states that the firmware is 2.2.02, though i mentioned earlier that the installation went dead. I am pretty sure this undetection problem is cause by the firmware upgrade. I hope all zen micro users who read this post will stop their intention to upgrade to this firmware, until a solution arri'ves. Hope i can have some "real" help on this. Any user from this forum who has the same problem, can post to share. Anyone who are able to solve this, pls post too, much appreciated.

    Dear Creative!
You screwed the upgrade program a bit, because it is works ONLY IN ENGLISH version on Windows XP. Shame! You are pushing me into the sea of warez...

  • Zen Micro - Screen Displays "Firmware Probl

As an FYI for those with this issue.
Updated to the new beta firmware upon getting my Zen Micro. After having issues with Napster 2 Go, I got the service transferring the files to the Zen Micro. Listened to the files at night until I got the "Low Battery" message. Plugged it up to charge. Once fully charged, listend from about p til about 7p. The 5 minutes inactivity timer cut off the Zen Micro. Went to turn on the Zen Micro only to have the screen display, "Firmware Problem". I have rebooted, entered rescue mode and did a clean up and reboot, same error. I reloaded the firware to get back into the Zen Micro.

    Meantone,
It would be worth trying a firmware upgrade, if you can, but it sounds like there might be a problem with the player.
I would advise you contact Customer Support directly for assistance.

  • Zen Micro- reliability?!?

I purchased a zen micro and after 2 months it broke! i was able to turn it on and off by wiggling the headphone wire?!?! this ment it would turn itself on and waste my battery. I sent it back and got a replacement and now the touchpad has gone! when i try 2 turn the volume up/go up on a menu it goes down, as it does wen i scroll down on the touch pad. This means it is now on volume level 0 and i have no way of turning it up! Has anyone else had these problems? or am i just unlucky and have had 2 crap micros?

Some people have had problems, but it's difficult to say if there's a reliability issue short of seeing Creative's return figures (something we're unlikely to get!).
On your second player, have you tried a reset and a disk cleanup, and reloading the firmware?

  • ZEN micro startup l

i have a quyestion, but first of all, sorry for my english...
when i turn on my zen micro, it appears the zen micro logo (after the creative and the animated), but, for a moment, a group of pixels dissapears. i have the latest firmware version (.). is that normal? what can i do?
please, if you dont understand the problem, let me know and i?ll try to explain it better.
    thanks for your help!!!

Do you mean that the logo is corrupted and distorted or that some of it goes away? Ever since I installed the firmware you mentioned half of the logo will disappear and my player will either start to work or a song will begin to play followed by the zen micro stalling.

  • Zen Micro c

I saw a post a few days ago that had a link to a digital camera case that had the same dimensions of the Zen Micro, but was wondering what you all use to carry your zen micro in.
    Thanks.
    Kyle

<SPAN class=postbody>Looking for a case for the Zen Micro? I actually did a bit of searching on the web and found a Canon compact camera with the same dimensions as the Zen Micro. After some further searching I found these cases for it..http://shop.store.yahoo.com/semsons-...iix30posd.htmlMy silver/black case fits perfectly. The fastener strap at the top actually goes over the headphone jack, protecting it from knocks (you still have access to the on/off button and usb socket either side of the fastener). It is very sturdy and well made and doesn't actually look like a camera case - it doesn't have Canon, Olympus, etc embossed on it (the metal badge on the front says IXY Digital - which is actually the Japanese model name for the camera). OK you don't have access to the touchpad whilst it is in the case but if like me you stick it on random play or use long playlists then it isn't a problem (or use the remote when it is released). If you don't like this case, try searching for other cases for this type of camera. The site lists the model names for the UK, US and Japanese markets so do a bit of searching and you may find a case you like (I think this site had a couple of other alternati'ves as well). As Creative don't look like they will be bringing a case out in the near future its a good alternati've.

  • ZEN MICRO problems..reverting to old firmware possib

    Hi,
I just upgraded to the new firmware .0.03 (since I don't have Windows XP to install the 2.00 version)...and i'm noticing a lot of freezing problems....
Is there a way to go back to the original firmware that was initially installed? ThanksMessage Edited by Tiger23 on 0-09-2005 0:0 AM

sigh.. I've tried that and it doesn't work....still freezes at the creative screen.... I suspect it may be a hardware problem since when it freezes at start up, there is no hard dri've sound. Before, when it was working well, you would hear little hard dri've sounds at start up....but whenever it freezes at start up, there is no hard dri've sound so it's kind of like the hard dri've is loose? So i tried tapping the zen micro, and after many many tries...it started up again, but then after a few songs, it froze......
I tried recover disk clean up, but when I select that...it freezes as well....it freezes at the "scanning disk..." screen of disk clean up..... I know something is wrong since I've tried disk cleanup when the player worked and it would be fast and would say "scanning disk.....25%....etc.....now i don't even see the progress percentage........
I'm calling support on monday..........anyone know how to fix my problem? Will RMA cost me a lot of money? I went broke after buy the zen micro....sigh..............

  • Zen Micro touchpad not respond

Hi everyone I bought my Zen Micro just after Christmas and have not had problems with it until recently. Each time I turn the player on, it is playing a song but the touchpad is not working meaning I cannot change song, change volume etc. I've made sure it is not on 'Hold' and also removed the battery for a number of hours but this has not resolved my problem. Anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions as to how I can fix it without having to send it to Creative? If not how do I go about contacting Creative and sending them my player to be fixed?Any help much appreciated?Cheers

try to update the firmware first, even if you have the latest version, that's the first thing the support is gonna ask you to do anyways
That would be a good idea if it is possible to actually scroll to the Reload firmware option and select it...
Do try it though, you never know...
If not however I doubt it is a firmware/software problem, probably the touchpad was somehow damaged...
Just contact Customer Support (see support at the top of this page?)
    Best of luck...

  • HELP, My Zen Micro Is Screwed

I was importing music into my Zen Micro, and after i did, i closed the Creative Media Explorer. My Zen Micro did the normal thing with the pic of the file cabinet as it docked and it said please wait... . But after about 5 to 0 minutes it kept doing that and i tried to turn it off and it froze. As of this moment ( 45 min. later) it still says please wait, yet theres no pic of the file cabinent and i can't turn it off or see any backlight.
Can someone tell me wat i should do?

    Hi,
Sorry I can't help you. I just wanted to let you know I have the same exact problem. It started three days ago and I've been going back and forth with creative support and nothing has worked. I am beginning to grow really distressed. I feel a little better now because after seeing that it's happening with someone else, it is most likely not the player. I am running windows 98 SE as well. I also have an AMD Duron processor. I have a new computer on the way with windows XP I really hope it works. But now I have a new problem. I listed it on the front page of this forum a few minutes ago. My player froze and now only boots up in rescue mode. I am getting so frustrated with my player. If you figure anything out will you be as kind as to send me a message on how you got your player working again? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
    Nick

  • Zen Micro not recognized by Creative software after firmware upgr

I had really old firmware, so I upgraded it to the latest version (2.2.02). Immediately after doing so, I noticed my Micro appears in Windows and is recognized by Windows Media Player (I'm using v0, not the new beta).
But it's not recognized by the Zen Micro Media Explorer or by the Creative MediaSource Organizer, which I was hoping to use to reconstruct my playlists easily. Explorer claims the player is not connected.
Upgrading my drivers (to .30.03) and Creative software (to 3.30.2) did not fix the problem.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

    rs93,
You need to install the MTP plugin for MediaSource and also update your copy of the Zen Micro Media Explorer to a version that support the new firmware. All the above can be downloaded from the website.

  • No access to Zen Micro after firmware upgr

Can someone help me please? I've received my Zen Micro today and thought it would be a good idea to upgrade the firmware right at the start of using the player. I've installed 2.20.05 and the player appears as "Windows Portable Device" on my Windows XP machine.
Unfortunately I do not have access to the player. Neither directly in the explorer nor with Creative software!
    What am I doing wrong?
Can I get rid of this firmware and downgrade to an older one?

I have the same problem, didn't find out how to solve the problem yet. but the player just don't work anymore on MY pc, if i try it on another pc, everything works fine. i reinstalled my windows and it still doesn't work at my pc. what can i do? is there an incompatibility with some hardware devices?
i forgot to say that u can't get rid off that new firmware on ur pc because it wouldn't recognize it. i could only do it on that other machine, but there has to be installed the zen media source. didn't tried it out because i like the way u can organize ur music over the windows explorer. i hope there will be a fix for that problem out soon.
did u already write an e-mail to the support?Message Edited by Audioslave on 0-09-2005 05:3 AM

  • Zen Micro's Battery flat after 14 hours of being turned of

Now I'm confused, I fully charged my Zen Micro twice and then turned it off, and overnight the battery is fully drained. This cant be right can it's
I know others have experience the rundown issue, but making it sooo flat that it wont even turn on?
Do you think I have a faulty Zen or Battery?

Check the system info on the player itself and check for the version of firmware you have. It will show up as v .XX.XX Anything older than v .0.03 needs to be updated. A lot of battery draining issues were resolved with this firmware update. Also some people have said that keeping the headphones unplugged keeps power from draining as quickly while the player is off because the amp stays powered up.
If the player drains significantly after these two things I'd contact Creative SUpport about a replacement

  • Zen Micro "Player is Locked" will not appear after Updating to version 1.03.5 (Please He

    Hi Everyone,
I just purchased a Zen Micro and seems to be in good working condition. I noticed that while runing the original firmware that when I locked the player a box saying "Player is locked" would appear if I tried to press another button.
However, after I updated to the next firmware (.03.5) I noticed that this would not appear any more. So I updated it to latest version 2.0... and noticed that it still doesn't appear.
Is this happening to anyone else who has updated the firmware? Please reply with any information since I am thinking that mine might be defecti've and therefore I would need to return it ASAP to get another one.
Also I noticed that the original factory-installed firmware is not included on the dowloads section.
    Thank You,
    ATT

... The player lock button "works" but a display would appear to let the user know that the player is locked (this display was a little box in the middle of the screen similar to the "shutting down" display, and would only appear when you pressed a button while the player was locked).
This used to work with the factory firmware version. However when I updated the firmware this does not appear anymore when I press a button while the player is locked. The lock functions but this display does not appear (is this also happening to anyone else?)
    Please respond
