[Zen Micro Photo] Stuck in b

My Zen Micro Photo gets stuck in the bootscreen. When I turn my Zen on it says "Creative" and after a couple of seconds "Zen Micro Photo". While "Zen Micro Photo" is in my screen it does nothing. I tried to take out the battery and turn it on again, but still nothing. Only after a couple of hours it starts working again.
It als doesn't connect properly with Windows XP.
The problem started a couple of days ago when I activated the removable harddri've mode on the Zen to connect it to Windows 2000.
Should a reload of the firmware help?

SOLUTION - Zen Micro Photo Stuck in Recovery M

My Zen Micro Photo got stuck in recovery mode after I followed Creative Labs Technical Support suggestions. They had me do a Clean Up, a Format All a Reload Firmware and a Reboot. After doing this my unit was stuck in Recovery Mode. They then had me load the latest firmware. v .3.0, from a PC connection and I found that it worked fine, but doing the above steps put me back into Recovery Mode hell. So I did some testing.
I loaded firmware version .20.0 from my PC thinking the problem might be in the firmware version. Doing the steps they had asked me to do caused me to be in Recovery Mode Hell, so again I loaded firmware from my PC.
This time I went through each item one at a time and rebooted after each. Clean Up/Reboot, Format ALL/Reboot and Reload Firmware/Reboot. They all booted normally except when I did a Reload Firmware.
Next I loaded firmware v .3.0 to my unit again and did the same test. Again it put me in Recovery Mode Hell after I selected Reload Firmware from the Recovery Mode screen.
Conclusion DO NOT LOAD FIRMWARE FROM RECOVERY MODE. If you have to load firmware at all, do it from your PC connection. I'm going to copy this into the VERY LONG message I have had with Creative Labs Technical Support over the past 5 days and let them know what I have found. I hope this helps others to fix their Micro Photo.

I am having a similar problem. I am stuck in recovery mode and my PC won't recognize the MP3 player at all? I have rebooted, cleaned up, formatted, pulled the batt, etc. Finally I pulled the battery for longer than 30 seconds and that seemed to fix the problem. We will see.

Zen Micro Photo- Stuck in Recovery + ot

I used my Micro on Thursday, no problem. Went to use it on Monday and it was dead...figured I left it on repeat and the battery died, so Irecharged it. Well, still had minor problems (very slow response of unit) so I reformatted the player and everything seemed fine. I plugged it into my computer and now it looks like it's charging, even though it may or may not be plugged in via usb AND it's stuck in Recovery mode. Oh, and my computer doesn't recognize it as being plugged in.
Breakdown:
Stuck in recovery.
Looks like it's charging (lightning bolt flashing in top right corner) even if not plugged in.
Computer does not recognize that unit is plugged in.
Please help, this is the first time in over a year of owning it that I had a problem with my Micro.

hey I have a problem that whever I load songs onto my ipod, even if it is brand new, the ipod is xxxxd. It gets stuck on the apple symbol and I can hear a clicking and humming sound when I hold it up to my ear. It is a 40GB ipod with clickwheel. When i reset and restore and do all that, reload the songs on, the song shows up in the menu but when I try to access it, the song isn't there, as in, click the button - no song. help would be great.

Zen micro photo stuck in recovery mode

I was getting in my truck at a gas station and looked down and my zen was on, but i turned it off , i go to push buttons it wont light up on go off or anything but the power buttong light was glowing so i took the battery out and put it back in, now it will not come out of recoverymode its just stuck in it
what do i need to do, i've taken out the battery, restarted it many times but nothig works, it wont even let me dock it and sync the songs to my computer so i can format it

i did, i wnt to erase firm warm and the screen went funky and came back up and i then went ro put it on and it didnt work then i formated it, cleaned disk and reset firmware again and it still didnt work

Just recently, my zen micro photo has been staying in recovery mode. I have tried all of the four options available? to me in recovery mode. .) Clean up 2.) Formatt All 3.) Reload Firmware? 4.) Reboot. When I try "Reload Firmware". It doesn't really "reload". All it does is erase the current firmware, which it has done several times. My computer doesn't really realize the player. It doesn't allow me to acess my songs, which have already been deleted. It says the "Player is not connected". At first, I thought I needed to charge. I charged it to maximmum. The battery is "FULL". Also, the firmware update doesn't recognize the player either. Whenever I select the reboot option, my player reboots to recovery mode. This does no good, as I have tried all of the available options in recovery mode, and they have done no good. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Zen Micro Photo frozen on Creative scr

Hi, I have had my Zen Micro Photo for three months and it has worked fine untill today. When I turned it on it went to the creative screen like it usually does and it just stayed there. I tried taking out the battery and putting it in again but it did the same thing. It doesn't even do anything when I hook it up to the computer. What can I do? I'm freaking out here please help me!!!!!!

It could be that the microdri've is "stuck" or in failure.
While the MicroPhoto is turned off, try tapping (well do it very firmly and with enough force) on the palm of your hand, restart the MicroPhoto and see if it boots up completely.
If not, a firm smack on a table top or counter may unstick the heads of the microdri've if that is what's preventing the microdri've from completely booting up.

Zen Micro 6gb Stuck at "Creative" l

First off, I realize there have been many topics relating to booting up and the screen freezing at the welcome creative screen. I just need to see what needs to be done, wether it be manually or by customer support. Recently on vacation, I dropped my Creative zen micro about 4 feet onto concrete. Now when i picked it up to check it out, there were no scratches or pieces that fell off. Also there was no rattling inside of the mp3 player. Later to my suprise, when turning it on, it froze at the "Creative" logo, and would not procede to go to the menu. I slapped it on my knee a couple times, nothing to serious, just seeing if anything that came loose, would set back in its place. Well it worked, don't ask me how, but it worked. I succesfully got to the menu and could listen to music. Well later, when I turned it back on I noticed it got stuck back at the creative screen. Somehow, when I put pressure on the mp3 player, something happened, and it booted back to the menu, like it would normally. Everything seemed fine, until about 3 days later it all happened again, but for good, its not going to the menu. All I see is a white screen with the black text that reads " Creative ". The only way to turn the player off, is to take out the battery, When plugged into my pc, it charges, and proceeds to glow in and out,.. but the screen light stays at a solid brightness, while the blue outlining fades in and out. I tried running all the options in the reboot menu, like format, and clean disk, but they all freeze up/ My pc recognizes the mp3 player, but the creative software I have installed does not. I tried updating the firmware, but it says my player is not connected. I thought about contacting customer support, but I notices that the seal is ripped, or "tampered" with. Its very easy top break the seal on accident, all you have to do is move the metal plate downward, and the seal ri

At this point, I just disassebled the player to see if there were any loose parts, and I noticed everything seemed to be in order, and I put it back together to find the same results as before. Well I have it disassembled again, with all the parts layed out. Any help would be great.
Also, one last question.. Is there anyway I can reset the hardri've manually, as in, is there a little reset button on the hard-dri've that would format it's I have it in my hand, was just wondering if I could reset it.

I started reading in this forum because my Zen Micro Photo freezed today . It left the bag of my trousers and hit the floor. I am now wondering how much people do have the same problem as me. My player was falling the first time from the height of my knees and it was turned off. Startup stucked on Creative screen.
It seems to be that Creative harddisk players are especially vulnerable to hits like this. It is acceptable when it does not work anymore after hitting the floor 0 times. Or when it falls from a table. But already after the first time from a short height?
I tried what administrators do not advise:
Banging the player during startup. Reached music library. Had to bang two or three times more and all was okay. I am not sure for how long this will hold.

Creative Zen Micro Photo is Freezing in Recovery M

Hi all,?My Creative Zen micro Photo 8gb has gone a bit mad. It had a firmware update, and then wouldn't work. SO I hooked it up to the PC and nothing was happeneing. It tried to rebuild the library, but froze. So I followed tech suppourt, and formatted it, and lost all my music, and it wont do anything now. It gets to the Recovery Mde Screen, and does the following:?Clean Up: - Says it's cleaning up, but does nothing really. Format All: - Says formatting, and does so. Reload Firmware: NOW, here's the interesting one, I hook it up to download the firmware... AND the PC recognises it's plugged in, but the firmware application doesn't. Reboot: - Reboots straight into Recovery mode again!?Very frustrating. Can anyone help?Cheers

Mine too! It completely froze to Recovery mode, I can't even turn it off! I had to take off the batteries and when I open it, it's stuck in there. I had it replaced by Creative Labs. Btw, I commend their tech support. The email support is fast and very responsi've. A RMA was issued to me and they were able to replace it in a matter of days. Then my 2nd player (refurbished one,what I got back) was working for 7 days when it froze again. then it says rebuilding library or something..but it won't finish loading. It was stuck to that page, cannot turn off, had to take off batteries again. I did this 5 times, since it failed to reload the library. Afterwards, it displayed Hardware Failure.
Now, I'm currently waiting for their email feedback since I reported the problem again.
My advice, let them know. Hope you can work yours out.

If you don't want to see the backing of my whole story skip to the bold print at the bottom!I also want you to know I read the FAQs and searched through some topics like this, but haven't found any asking my question.First of all, I'm new to the forum, but I've been researching Creative's Zen for a long time now. I kept observing each one closely before I purchased a product. I then saw the Zen Micro Photo come out. This one won my attention. I loved this, I quickly searched for reviews and went for the buy for Christmas. I told my dad about it and he was "iffy" on the price, but it was better then the iPod in my opinion.Christmas day came and I opened it. Right away I checked everything out I knew a lot about the menu already and all, but not really how to control it. I checked to make sure everything worked. All systems were go. After listening to the defaults (which I loved) I went to go install the software. I already had Media Player 0 and Adobe, oh and I didn't want the freakin AOL toolbar! Lol, so I installed everything else. It took forever, but I hooked it up and I installed the drivers, but as soon as I plug in the USB connector I see: "A HIGH-SPEED USB device has been plugged into a LOW SPEED USB port.After that, I switched USB ports, btu I got same message. I hit the X and then tried to charge. I got the Lightening Bolt, but no dimming of lights. I found out that this computer is not letting me install any service packs, I'm confused about that.My question:Is there anyway I can charge this mp3 player and download music onto my Zen Micro Photo without Service Pack ? Or did I just pay $250 for a really cool glowing mp3 player to be used as a paperweight? (I love this Zen and I ran the battery dead hoping that would make the charging easier).Help?

Thank you DM for responding. I am expecting problems, but it still won't allow me to charge the Zen Micro Photo or even use the Creative Media Source. I can't upload any songs or any contacts on it. I haven't uploaded anything yet, but it's not reading the USB device. When I run Creative Zen Micro Photo Media Explorer I get this message at the top of the screen: "The device is not connected. Please connect your Zen MicroPhoto to the computer. I can't organize anything or add songs... so it just makes all the programs I downloaded useless and my Creative product unusuable.ONe thing it does do though... whenever I plug in my Zen MIcroPhoto to the USB it turns it on and glows, but only shows my battery at the top with one red line and the green lightening bolt filling the battery up.After leaving it like this for two hours the green moves, but the red bar stays the same size.

I've had my Zen Micro Photo 8gb for a month & have discovered some interesting quirks: first, I don't believe mine is defecti've, though I've had problems. I have encountered freezing on both the "Zen Microphoto" logo and "rebuilding library" screen; I scoured this forum and the Knowledge Base for answers, trying all that seemed applicable?- I tried disk cleanup and reboot (leading to rebuilding library freezes), reformats & carefully reloading the latest firmware?a couple of times. I've drawn some conclusions:?) Mediasource software is not working for me; when I switched to using only Windows Media , most problems went away.2) For whatever reason, "rebuilding library" can only be accomplished while my Zen is connected to the computer - should this be the case?3) It seems like the times my screen freezes on the "Zen Microphoto" logo I may have held the "on" switch to the side a little longer than necessary; I'm wondering if this is happening because I'm holding the switch on a little too long?Anyway, I love the size, look and sound of this player, so I hope to keep using it. NOTE: can anyone from CREATIVE tell me if there will be future firmware updates? Thanks

I run windows XP pro . sp2, its quite strange.. it should work. ! **bleep** IT SHOULD WORK ! :smileyindifferent: , and the wirld thing is. i also try'ed it on another windows XP machine at work.. and it didient work there either. im beginning to question if this is the product for me. its realy sad though, i love the zen design.. not to mention the price.
It realy realy bugs me that the zen micro photo isset supportet on windows 2000, i had this vision of syncronizing my work calender with the zen ... and now its just not possible ! unless my boss wants to give me a new laptop.. and i dont think that will happen . hehe

Using Zen Micro(Photo) with plain Explo

Is there a possibility to copy MP3 files simply by drag-and-drop with the Windows Explorer to the Zen Micro(Photo) so that the files are treated as MP3 and NOT as simple data files? Technically it is quiet simple to do this by using the hard disk of the Zen as an extra hard disk in Windows. Even the cheapest USB-stick based MP3-player can do this. Why not a Zen (or the iPod competition)?
I refuse to use any specific software to copy my self ripped MP3-files because I know that that software (Creative, iTunes, even Windows Media Player and other) changes things during the file transfer and I don't want any change in the MP3 files, not even a single bit!
I want to buy a Zen Micro Photo (8 GB, color screen), but I refuse to do it as long as it is impossible to crag-and-drop my MP3 files simply thru the Windows Explorer.

Yeah that's what i always did. I just drag and drop MP3 files directly into my player without using any software whatsoever.

ok sooo.... i am an idiot..............one night after coming home i was running to catch a ride with my friend and on the way.....my zen micro photo fell outta my pocket and into the grass..............well the next morning i obviously couln't find it so i got in my car and drove to the place that i got the ride from- well i founf it in the grass. So i was real happy that i found it until i got home and all it does when i turn it on is go to that stupid recovery mode-----and it wont go any where else.......................it doesn't look damaged at all. UGH it makes me real mad some one PLEASE HELP and gimme some suggestions!!!!!ASAP

Zen Micro Photo not recognized in Media Explo

Device automatically goes into Recovery Mode when turned on. Tried the clean up and format features, followed by reboot. Still nothing. ?When connected via USB, Device not recognized in Media Explorer. Tried to reload firmware, but getting error message that device is not connected.
Can someone help?

Hey i think i know what your problem is. What Operating System are u running on your computer? (Windows XP, ME etc) And also, if running XP do you have service pack installed? If you dont have service pack installed, you cant use your player. The system requirements can be found on the back of the zen micro photo box. goodluck!!

Having big problems with Creative Zen Micro Photo!! I need much urgent help!

Hi. I am having a big problem with my MP3 Creative Zen Micro Photo device at the computer.Here is the thing:Before I bought this I had the regular Zen Micro & having fun with it. I had no problems with that when I used the Media Explorer to transfer songs. So I bought the Zen Micro Photo & installed it my computer. As normal I used the Media Explorer to transfer songs & pictures.So I reinstalled Windows XP at my computer, and when I installed the CD that followed to transfer new songs, the Windows said that it's an unknown thing I have connected in the USB.So I installed Service Pack & 2. I have tried to install drivers from the cd but it seems that there are no drivers on the cd! The big problem is that when I connect the MP3 to the computer, it doesn't read it's a Zen Micro, it's just unknown! So the Zen Micro Photo Media Explorer program doesn't work & I can't transfer songs or picture on it! And it just happened after I re-installed Windows on my computer. The same thing happened on my brother's computer after he re-installed windows. And when I connect the MP3 to the USB, it says that it's not a USB 2.0, but .! And I am sure it is 2.0 because it has always been like that before I re-installed windows. Also the MP3 does not re-charge when I put it my computer! The battery is just the same, it tries to do it but it doesn't. So I am using my sisters computer to charge the MP3 & transfer songs. I have tried everything but I can't seem to understand what the problem is? I have never experienced something like this before, and I really hope you can help me with this! To be honest I think what I am missing is the driver. So can someone PLEASE provide me the link for the driver? I have downloaded all those 3 on www.creative.com, but they are none of them! Also that playforsure firmawre thingy does not work because it sais that I have to connect my MP3, and it is connected already!Please reply as quick as possible! Thanks a lot for you kind help!
