Zen micro playlist help ple

Okay, so I've got my micro, (yay) and since I'm using my cousin's computer which only has Windows 98 on it so I can't run the software (therefore can't make playlists on the computer).
So I'm trying to make playlists on the actual micro itself, so far I have done this:
a) got one track, click on the menu button and chosen 'add to selected'
b) got another and another etc.
c) gone to 'now playing' and chosen 'save as playlist' and named it.
Okay so now I have one playlist but if I try to make another using the method above, but the problem is, now that I have gone onto the 'now playing' menu I still have all the songs from my previous playlist there. Therefore if I add choose 'save as playlist' again it will choose all of them for the playlist.
What I'm basically asking is how to clear the 'now playing' selection without deleting all my songs. Any help?

Covered in the manual. Just go to the menu from now playing, and choose remove all to clear the queue.

Zen Micro Basic Help Plea

Ok, I read the ENTIRE manual that came on the install CD. This is ALL I want to know:
How do I STOP a song from playing say at mid-song? I don't want to switch to a different song, I just want to stop it. Not pause it and have it resume again later. I just want to stop a song and then just go to say the organizer or radio. If I turn the player off and then turn it back on, the song is back to playing. How do I clear the memory of this? I want to be able to turn the thing back on and be back to my home screen automatically. I hate technology. One more thing I have to learn. There are too many steps I have to remember with this thing. Hasn't someone written a fairly detailed road map? I need a little card that has all the user steps that I can carry around. Anyone make one of those yet? Also, when I am trying to set the stupid time and date.. I can get to the screen where it lets me change the date (FEB 2005) but what do I press after that to get the DAY and then what do I press for it to take hold? It goes back to my now playing screen if I take too long to figure it out. Of course, the manual does not go into detail about this... I need instructions that say : Do this, now do this, and then do this... Not everyone is tech minded. Can someone help me? Thanks!

OK here goes.
. In the Main Menu screen select Extras
2. Select Date & Time
3. Press the menu button and select Set Date
4. Use the scroll bar, up or down until you find the required month and year, then select by clicking in the centre of the scroll bar.
5. You should now have a calendar view. Use the vertical scroll bar to highlight the correct date and click to select.
6. This should take you back to the main Date & Time display screen.
7. Click the menu button again and select Set Time.
8. The hour should be highlighted. Use the vertical scrollbar to select the correct hour and click in the middle to select.
9. The minutes should now be highlighted. Again use the vertical scrollbar and click select again to highlight the seconds which can be changed in the same way.
0. Clicking select again should take you back to that screen with the correct day, date and time highlighted.
I'm told there is a user manual on the installation cd although I have to admit I've never used it as I'm a figure it out through playing kind of person.

I Need Serious Help With My ZEN MICRO! Help With MediaSource!! Don't Know What I'm Doing

Hey.. I just bought my zen micro... i love the player itself...but coming from itunes, which is amazingly easy and simple to use, the creative mediasource is sooo hard for me to get the hang of! First, i had to figure out how to get my songs from itunes (aac) to mediasource (wma). not easy... now, i don't understand how to edit my songs, playlists, etc... i can't do anything!! if there's someone who wouldn't mind helping me out..please reply or write and let me know.... thanks! jason. This is not MediaSource's issue.

The first task you need to do is to add all your songs into MediaSource's PC Music Library. After that, it is not difficult to figure out how to use MediaSource. Editing track properties and creating playlist is very simple. To transfer tracks to your devices, you need to click a button at the bottom right of MediaSource to open up another panel to facilitate the transfer.

Zen Micro playlist synching rarely works with Sync Mana

I'm not using MTP/Play for Sure apps or firmware (I like the old directory style view in ZMME). I rarely get a clean sync of a playlist onto my Micro. I import the external playlist (usually a .m3u list made on Winamp) to Creative MediaSource, then I (try to) sync it to the Micro. MediaSource always imports the correct number of files, but during the sync process, Sync Manager never detects the full amount of files. Then, when it tries to sync, it rarely even gets the ones it did manage to detect onto the player. I often get the message that "0 files/playlists were transferred" due to some unknown error.
I've tried connecting the Micro directly to my USB card port (instead of my usual method of using the more convenient front access port or the hub ports on my monitor). That didn't help a bit.
Does it matter whether I initiate the sync from ZMME or MediaSource? I assume not since they both just kick over to Sync Mangager anyway.
Any ideas?

Try transferring the playlist from MediaSource's PC Music Library to your Zen Micro manually. Do not use sync. See whether it works.
By the way, have you:
- Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 from your product download site.
- (Depending on your firmware)
Download and install the latest Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource from your product download site.
or:
Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8) from your product download site.

Zen Micro: Playlist transfer issues upd

I have been browsing through this forum checking out synchronising issues with the Zen Micro. I have only been able to use the Creative software to physically sync playlists to the device. WMP0 will happily sync the songs, but not the playlist itself.

Do I [and I guess, should I] update my firmware to allow WMP0 to sync playlists? I notice that a few of you have reservations about the firmware upgrade and how it affects the relationship between the device and various other programs. Does the upgrade prevent using Creative's software? Or is there another path I can take?

Unless of course any of you know if Musicmatch can get round this! As I like the style and usability of Musicmatch.

All help much welcomed, as I find the Creative Way of managing music files to be very tedious and messy to the eye.

Zen Micro Playlist Error - Please H

Everything for my zen micro when connected to my computer except for one thing. I can't create a playlist on my computer! Everytime I go into the Zen Media Explorer and try to create a new playlist, it tells me that it is "unable to connect to device. please try again." And yes, my Zen Micro is connected when I try this.
Anyways, I looked up to see if anybody had this issue but didn't find a thread about it. Can anybody help me out? I've only upgraded the software once... and terrible things happened(my computer stopped recognizing my micro) so I don't plan on doing that again unless that's my last resort. Thanks in advance.

I think you need to try the normal troubleshooting procedures i.e. a disk cleanup (see the FAQ post).
Also try using MediaSource, and failing that another PC even (just to test).

Creative zen micro please help me

ok heres the story. st time on my creative zen micro it said firmware problem...thanks to you guys and your help I got it fixed. now it says firmproblem again but when its says that it goes stright to recovery mode and when i connect it the firmware app does not reconize it and says please connect your player. I contacted creative but they said you neeed a recipt and if it said to KEEP RECIPT in big letter on the manual i would have kept it but that was about 9 months ago and they said they can't help. did i just waist $200 for nothing?

Zen vision problem HELP PLE

I recently bought a zen vision 4gb
but i cannot get it to work, after i've charged it and turn it on it just says "Re-building Library" and stops about half way through
also it cannot pick up the device through USB so cannot transfer songs etc.
my brother has a zen micro 5gb which works fine , we also use the same computer

I just got a 5 gig Zen Micro. All was well until I attempted to install the program in the computer, which led to "Error code -600", which told me to clear my temp folder and check my internet connections. I have a cable connection, windows XP, and Norton antivirus. Does this have anything to do with my problem? If not, what am I doing wrong?
please, someone, help. I'm about to ritually disassemble my micro.

ok i found the problem.
after a few hours of googling i found that the error is caused by an outdated version of windows installer.
to fix this problem on your computer find the folder
C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield
and rename it to
C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield-old
and then run your install again that should fix your problem

Zen Micro firmware help

Last night my Zen micro locked on the "creative" screen. It wouldn't power up or down. So i removed battery, held the on button and placed the batery in. I navigated to the "reload firmware option" and selected it. How long does this process take? Its been at it for 20 mins only on "erasing firmware". Any ideas/help?

It should only take a few seconds.
If functions in rescue mode aren't working properly the player is faulty.

Zen micro NEED HELP

Hi everybody
I want your help about a serious problem that i have with my creative zen micro.Before 3 days i bought one. The most important reason i got it was,so i can transfer files from a netcafe i go.i don't have a good connection so i thought the 8 mbit of netcafe would save me. I got zen micro...i went home i plug the usb at my pc and everything was ok.the win xp found and install the device.the day after i went to netcafe to test it and nothing....i tried at 5 different pc's but the same problem..the usb found a device but don't recognize it....and don't install muvo..the only thing i get is something about o malfunction at the usb...the usb is not damaged!!they work...the pc has win xp.i don't know what to do...the software is locked at the netcafe,you cant install any program,so i cant install any driver to found zen.PLZ i desperatly need you HELP ,what i can do to make it work?is there any solution?anyone had a same problem?

i know that the problem is at the usb ports of the netcafe pc's, but what kind of problem?
when i plug my explorer 2 mouse at the usb 2.0 it works..and my headphones too...only the zen micro doesn't works...anyone else know something about it's

Zen Micro Installation Help PLEEEAAASSSEEE

My computer does not detect my zen micro nor does the software it came with. I reset it completely- there is no firmware on it. So is it possible for my computer to detect it, even if it doesnt have firmware? Right now when i boot up my micro it goes straight to Recovery Mode. thanks sooo much for any help...

It's very similar to the procedure described here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.

Getting Music on your Zen Micro player - Help- Prob

I've had a past problem getting music onto my zen. Yes, I've only had it for 3 days but I cant figure it out. I know how to put the music onto it but when I try to put it on my zen ALL the files say "Your need a license".. Is this the DRM? I have no idea how to get it to work and frankly im sick of it..
Heres my information:
MP3- Zen Micro by Creation
Program used to download songs- Napster
Program used to transfer onto zen- The program that can equipt with the zen
I dont know if thats all you need. If not tell me please. I just want to get MORE songs on the dang player... The three pre-added songs Im getting sick of listning to.. if you know what i mean.
Other than that everythings good. I just cant get the songs to add to the player!
 It would help tons if someone could go into depth about adding songs step-by-step as everywere i've looked i cant find how to fix it... Or atleast tell me how to fix it.. or what the possible problems could be.. Is it the player or the license?... Any comments? Help? please.

I've called Napster and Creative labs but their both closed on Saturday and Sunday.. So I cant get help. They Guys at Best Buy cant help me because they have no ideas what to do.. LOVE MY ZEN MICRO SO FAR. ONLY DILEMMA IS THIS. THE PLAYLISTS DONT SORT BY SONG TITLE OR EVEN ARTISTS. ALSO THEY DONT DETECT DUPLICATES. FOR EXAMPLE IF YOU ARE ADDING TO A PLAYLIST, THE PLAYLIST WILL BE IN THE ORDER THE SONGS WERE ADDED. IS THERE A WAY TO SORT THE PLAYLISTS BY TRACK TITLE ON THE PC OR MICRO. THE COLUMNS DO NOT SEEM TO BE PORTABLE. I REALIZE THIS IS NOT SUCH A LARGE CONCERN BECAUSE GENERALLY I PLAY MY PLAYLISTS ON RANDOM. MTORT44, this issue has been discussed before. Don't you think that allowing sorting by clicking column in playlist is quite dangerous? Imagine that you have spend hour to arrange the order of 00 tracks in a playlist. An unintentional click on the column will destroy the order that you have built earlier. And you need to spend time arranging the order again.
For tracks in a playlist, it is unlikely that you want to sort the order of play by title, artist, or whatever. Usually, you would manually sort it. In MediaSource, you can drag and drop the tracks in a playlist to re-arrange the order.

My zen micro playlist prob

Ok here is my problem. And sorry when i write bad english. Im from holland and im not very good with english.
But here we go; My zen micro puts the song on titel likeangel - robbie williamsAnd not ; robbie williams - Angel
The problem here is, the artist don't stand together by there name
And if i go to play list;artist , sometimes he gives it on the titel, and sometimes on the artistHow can i get my playlist so that every?song just works on artist and?then the?titel??Thnx!

Grrr.. I had this same problem about 3 months ago. I literally tried for hours and days and weeks!! taking out the battery and restarting it time after time. one day it just finally came on to the little option screen and i was able to update my firmware. It worked better than ever after that. no stopping, no long pause when skipping through tracks. it worked out fine for about 2 months. Now its broken again with the same problem, so looks like ill be out my music for another month until i can jumpstart this thing. How come the Zen Micro doesnt have the reset button like some of the bigger ones? So anyways the only advice that I'm giving you is through my own previous experiences with it. Just keeping trying eventually it will come to you.. Or ship the thing out and pay the 24.95 for an assessment then pay parts and labor >:P I think I've already paid enough personally.
