Zen Micro Power Confirmat

Okay, so if I order a Zen Micro, it will not come with a power adaptor and they're backordered (and no retail outlet has them as far as I can tell). But I've seen mention of using the MuVo Slim power adaptor.
Can anyone confirm that this works? I can power the Micro with the MuVo Slim power adaptor just as I could with one that used to come with the Micro, without a computer/USB port, in the same amount of time?
If not, I'm curious about the uni'versal adaptor: the images on the page for this doesn't show that it has North America mains plugs. Does it's (You'ld THINK it would, but since it's not clear from the screen shots, I'd like to double check).
Thanks,
Chris

Thanks SSR. I'll get the Slim then.
Yes, I meant the travel adaptor. In the screenshots for that product, it shows various Euro plug configs, but I couldn't see a N. American config.
But if I can use the Slim adaptor, that's fine, since I usually travel with a travel adaptor already. I was asking in case that was my only option for a Micro mains adaptor.

• Zen Micro Power Adapter w/ the ZenMicro Pho

Well I bought a Zen MicroPhoto and unfortunatley it does not come with a hard travel-case nor a wall power adapter.. but, I purchased a Zen Micro before and thankfully have those accessories with me.. however, I wonder, can I use the Zen Micro power adapter with my ZenMicro photo The connection is the same, but I still am worried if something is different..
Any insight would be greatly appericated,
Thanks in advance!

Yes, this is perfectly fine. Creative sells the same power adapter separately for the MicroPhoto. I use my Micro's. It gives more juice in a smaller period of time than the USB connection.

• Buy Replacement Zen Micro Power Swi

Hi,
My Zen Micro power switch stopped working, and since the player is out of warranty, I took it apart, and sure enough, the little black lever on the power switch has broken off. Since the mechanism is so tiny, it is impossible to super glue it back on, so my guess a new switch is the only way to go...
It shouldn't be very hard to solder on a new switch. Can you get a switch like that online / in Radio Shack? If not, any ideas on what it would cost to replace?
Thanks,
Tom

Hmm, maybe you can get a broken micro for cheap on ebay and just take the part, or send it to creative and pay for them to fix it.
But I dont know anywhere that stocks them, sorry.

• Does Zen micro power adapter charge Zen Vision

i tied the good old power adapter on my Vision M but it seemed to charge it...a little...but then it didn't do anything so i'm wondering if i just need to try it again or does it not work period...

i just happened to look in the instruction manual that came with the VM and it says absolutely nothing about NOT powering it through the AC adapter that was previously provided with the Zen Micro, not that i'm gonna lose sleep over it but why can't that power adapter charge the vision M?

• Zen Micro Power Adapter Missi

I just bought my Zen Micro from Circuit City, and really dig it so far. One thing I noticed is that Circuit City's website says the AC power adapter and a belt clip/stand are included as part of the package. When I got the box home, they weren't included. I called Circuit City who said their website was wrong; they, however, will reduce my price by $30 to compensate. Good, I thought. So then I tried ordering the power adapter directly from Creative, but it says they're on backorder. What gives? Anyone know? Thanks.

It's best that you get an AC adapter, especially if you are not on the computer for long periods of time. Without the AC adapter, the charging may take up to 0 hours, depending on your computer. I have tried it and found that it only took 3 to 4 hours, but this reading is taken from a desktop PC.
Most Zen Micros do not come with AC adapters and belt cli
ps.
This is especially so for the 4GB and 6GB ones. I advice you to get one as soon as possible, they are really convinient.

• Zen Micro Power Swi

Well, my headphone Jack finnaly stopped working(after ohh a month or so), but my mom accidently threw away the receipt for my Zen micro. So I decided to try fix it myself. Anyways I did get it fixed, but not until I onadvertently broke the little tiny plack peice of plastic that is part of the power switch on the PCB. Tried epoxying it back together, but its just too small and doesn't hold. sigh
What do you think the chances are that I could get another one of these little peices shipped to me lol?
Or does anyone have any other ideas of what to do? Might just solder a new switch on and have it just hanging out of the hole in the top where the silver switch is. Ugly and Inncovient but atleast it would work. Just gotta figure out the combinations of the 4 pins what they do I guess.
Thanks!
Oh and feel free to punch me if you ever see me for trying to fix this myself lol.

F*** the store will do that! OMG ERRr
ok ok.
Well I didn't eaxactly fix it, I just epoxied it in place so it doesn't move around. it works for now. If I just hadn't snapped that peice of plastic all would be right now.
Looks like i'll have to solder a new type of switch on. :/

• Zen Micro Power quest

Hi, Im in VietNam right now for vacation... I notice that that power here is different from the USA. In the US they use 0 power, here they use 20. I charge my Zen Micro by computer, would it crash my Zen Micro if i charge it with one of the computer in VN using 20 power?

HI all,
All PC's will drop down this down to the correct voltage regardless of location. Most PSU's on PC's have that little red switch switch which should never be touched that will change the PSU to accept either 0 or 22-240 Volts. So in short the PC's PSU does the work to drop this down to a standard voltage regardlesss of location.
Also the power supply thats available for the Micro will accept any global voltage (0-240 v).
Hope this clears it up.

• Zen micro power but

Hi,
My Zen Micro won't start up via the power button on the top, howver it works fine but i just have to start it through the usb connection on my computer. The lock button on the top works perfect, its just to turn it on and off. Has anyone experienced this, i think its just that the button is broken, but i've only had it a few months.

I got my Micro for Christmas and I have the same problem. I can turn it on by putting the battery in and I turn it off by pausing and then it goes into idle shutdown. I called support and they said that for $25.00 I can send it in for warranty repairs. (First they suggested recovery mode, but if the button doesn't work, how can you possibly get recovery mode? - I tried!) Oh well, at least it should work properly then!

• Zen Micro Power Switch Prob

I have had my 6gb Zen Micro for about a month now and have been very pleased. But this morning, to my horror, when I woke up and tried to turn it on the power switch wouldn'work. My Micro still turns on if you put the battery in, and the hold feature still works, but when I shift the switch to the left to turn it on or off nothing happens. I haven't droppped it once or messed with anything in it. I don't know what to do. Has anyone had this problem before? Does anyone have any advice on something to try or what to do?

My Zen Micro has recently developed the same problem. I contacted Support, and they have informed me that I have to pay a $25 fee to get it fixed, and that amount could grow based on the cost of repairs. Quite frankly, I'm upset. This is twice that the player has failed. I RMA'd the first due to a headphone jack problem (which was caused by faulty wiring, which Creative will refuse to admit). This second player has a similar issue. The electronic contacts must not be built/soldered correctly. I will not be recomending this player to anyone I care about, as Creative has proven to have terrible support and exquisitely terrible design. I will not be purchasing another Creative product, due to my lack of confidence in this player. Creative has not even made an attempt to solve my problem, only directing me to the self-guided website that merely showed how unresponsi've their support really is. They have now supplied me with RMA information for my refurbished player, to send into them. I will not likely send this player in. Instead, I'll go peddle the piece of junk off on Ebay, and take the money and put it towards a player that's been proven to be more reliable than Creative's Zen series - an iPod. I know that word is almost a profanity in these forums, but Creative hasn't left me much of a choice. Goodbye Creative, I hope you won't miss my money. As much as I don't like to support Apple, I'm going to now. So enjoy your angered and frustrated Zen users who you don't seem to want to serve. Maybe once you start making quality products again, I might consider buying in.

• Zen micro power dr

Glad to see Zen Micro users figured out why I never got more than 5-6 hours of play time from my Zen. Too bad Creative didn't figure it out and notify its customers. I will download the firmware fix but it is not enough. The 4 hour standby is still too long. It should be user selectable. When I turn my Zen off, I want it off, not spinning the hard dri've for another 4 hours. What are these engineers thinking when they program these things? I'd also like to download OverDri've audio books from my local library if Creative is reading these messages.

OverDri've audio books are in WMA DRM format; their "compatible players" link is to the PlaysForSure site. They should definitely work with 2.x (MTP/Janus or PlaysForSure) firmware; they probably will work with .x firmware as well, but you may have to use WMP, MediaSource, or ZMME to transfer them. (.x is not PlaysForSure because it uses a proprietary driver, so it's likely the OverDri've software won't support it directly.)

• Zen Micro power management: unplug headphon

I'm still confused about the battery drain problems with the Zen Micro. I understand that the sleep-time problem has been fixed in both of the latest firmware releases, but in reading prior threads there was an issue with excessi've battery drain if the earphones were left in when the device was shut-down. Is this still the case - should I unplug the earphones when the Micro is turned off?

DerekR, I think you're referring to the so-called "super-drain" bug which appeared in the .0.02 firmware, the first firmware with standby time reduced to solve the other drain problems; it was quickly withdrawn and replaced with ..0, which solved both drain problems. 2.20.05, the 2.x-family firmware that contained the standby-time fixes, hasn't exhibited the "super-drain" problem. The latter two (..0 and 2.20.05) are the current Micro firmwares posted on this site.
For more details on the "super-drain" bug, visit JazzMC's page on it.

• ZEN Micro Power Adap

I just bought a ZEN MicroPhoto (8gb)--its great so far. I want to buy an AC charging cord/adaptor so I dont have to use my USB conect. on my computer. Can anyone tell me if I can use a standard 5 Volt Charger available at a lot of elect stores like best buy, without having to buy the ? I'm guessing as long as its a 5 volt charger, I can??

RBBrittain wrote:
You can charge the Micro thru the USB cable. You can also use chargers that connect thru 5-pin USB mini-B ports, like Blackberry and Motorola RAZR or MPx200 chargers; but to use them you'll have to either lock the player before charging (..0 firmware only) or set up a removable-disk partition (all other firmwares).
You *may* have to. I didn't need to
The Creative charger (available from this site and certain other retailers) reportedly charges faster than other chargers, and doesn't require "lock charging mode" or removable-disk setup.
It might do if it deli'vers more current, so it'll probably depend on the adapter. The RAZR v3 adapter only outputs 0.5A, whereas my Typhoon phone adapter produces A (the same as the Micro's adapter).

• Zen V Plus - Use Micro Power Adapt

Hi,
I just ordered the Zen V Plus (ZVP 8GB) over the phone from Creative (I'm in UK) and I was recommended to purchase?the external power adapter. So I ended up buying that as well. When I got the confirmation e-mail, the power adapter turns out to be the "Zen Micro Power Supply" - as opposed to the standard (and uni'versal?) "Zen Power Adapter". Since both the Micro and the V series?only charge via USB I assume that the Zen Micro power adapter is compatible with the Zen V?Just want to be 00%?sure that it will work. Tia.

Creative is selling?the Micro Power adapter?on the?web site for $9.99. 67% off list price. That's better than paying $29.99!It said they were out of stock for now. When you click on the?link?asking if you wanted to be notified when they were back in stock; another window comes up and?it says?that it works with the Zen V and Zen V Plus.Message Edited by mjmvb on 2-7-200707:32 PM
