Zen Micro problem need help

Today i was listening to music and my zen micro just froze while playing and no buttons could be pressed and the lock button wasnt on. So i took the battery out and rebooted the player but it froze at the creative screen. I went home and i went to recovery mode and tried to reload the firmware but it said erasing firmware for more than 2 hours. So then i tried a format but it said formating for the same amount of time. I need help please. Also, recently i've had problems witht the headphone jack. When ever i would stick it in it would sound distorted and i would have to move it around until i got it to a certain spot to hear it good again. If anyone else has this problem please tell me. One more thing i had returned my other micro zen in for hard dri've probems and this was my new one do u think if i have to return in (hopefully not) that they would accept it.

If the functions in Rescue Mode aren't working properly then you need to contact Creative Support.

• Zen micro problem please help..it seems to have wiped the libra

I would really appreciate any help anyone could offer with this problem as I have no idea what to do and fear I may have lost all the music I've collected over the past few years as none of it is backed up on my computer...My zen was working fine yesterday but then all of a sudden it froze, I couldn't get anything on it to work so I removed the battery as I have done before, it went on to 'rebuilding library'?but after a few seconds said 'Select music to play from the library' and there was NOTHING on there. No songs, no artists, nothing. It still says the space is being used up and there is only a few MB left but it's saying there's no songs on it. I tried accessing them through the computer but that wouldn't work either. PLEASE does anyone have any suggestions?

Maybe you could try running Disk Clean Up from the Recovery Mode
Remove Zen Micro's back plate and battery
Hold the On switch to On (fully to the left) and hold it there as you replace the battery
Select Disk Clean Up and Yes from the menu, it's at the top of the list
It will take a moment or 2 to complete Disk Clean Up, allow it to finish
Once Disk Clean Up is complete, select Reboot at the bottom of the list
You should see a Re-building Library notice once it reboots and hopefully your music will be accessible again
Clean Up will re-set your Zen Micro to its factory default settings, so you will have to redo any special settings that you had
Best of luck!
/with today's huge hard dri'ves, why don't people back their music up :|
I've got mine backed up on 2 different computers plus 2 external HDDs.

• Zen Micro problem, please help

I changed my Zen Micro's firmware to "PlaysForSure", but then I wanted to get back the original firmware.
So I used the "Recovery mode" to erase PlaysForSure firmware (v. 2.2.02) and then tried to load the original firmware (v. ..0).
Then my problems begun: firmware updater says "Your player is not connected, please connect your player.", altough my player is correctly connected and the drivers and other Creative's stuff are installed.
Computer (WinXP) ofcourse detects the player (as a PlaysForSure device).
I also tried to load the PlayesForSure firmware again, but it didn't work either.
So, what can I do to fix my Zen Micro's firmware?
Does the warranty cover this kind of things?
I would be very pleased if someone knows what to do, because my player really doesn't work now at all.

Okey, now I have uninstalled WMP and WMP Runtime Format, and installed WMP 0 again, but still firmware updater doesn't find my player connected. The player appears in the device manager as a "Portable media player", not under USB devices as when it was running with firmware ..0. If I try to uninstal the drivers, driver uninstaller totally freezes, and I think that all USB devices freeze too. So what can I do now?
pie wrote:
how do you install wmp0, i tried but it wont let me because its an older version
Open add/remove programs, click "show updates", scroll to windows updates, uninstall WMP and then WMP Runtime Format (after every uninstall you will have to restart your computer). Then download WMP 0 from http://www.microsoft.com and install it.

• No Zen Micro Problems, Post H

Well this is my first post on the forums and I am this close to buying a zen micro. I would have bought one yesterday until I stumbled upon the head-phone jack problem. I want to hear from people who have a zen micro problem free and how long you have had it. I've owned 3 previous creative players that have all worked great, so I'm hoping that there are only a small amount of people with this problem making all the noise (e.g. the sony psp dead pixel issue). So if you're happy with your zen micro let me know!!

Kpm,
It's ok, most people miss that option at first so it's no biggie. Personally I own a Zen Micro and take is almost everywhere with me. I have had no major problems and the minor ones were self created. I would highly recommend it. Now I do have a bias (as I am a Creative Employee) but I personally love this player.

• Problem putting music on my zen micro. Pleease help

Okay, so i'm having a problem syncranizing my music onto my zen micro for some reason.
I've had my my zen micro player for almost a year and i've always been able to sync music onto it with no problem but i haven't put any new music on it for about a week or so and yesterday i tried to put music on it and it said that my windows media player read an unknown error and wouldn't put any music on it. ( i use my windows media player to put music on it, by the way )
So i have no idea what to do. I tried to reinstal the program that came with the player but that didn't work either and even that program said it read an error when i tried to use it to put music on there.
I even downloaded a new version of windows media player and tried to put music on it but that told me:
"Windows Media Player cannot save the sync settings because your device is full. Delete some unneeded files on your device and then try again."
But that's prett much impossible since my zen micro can save upto 2,500 songs and i only have 89 songs on there, no more and nothing else.
So can someone please help me and tell me what's wrong and what i have to do to fix it

you should be able to download the drivers and software you need from this site- just go to Support>downloads and enter in your OS, model no., etc.
it will give a list of programs, I don't have a mac but you'll probably need to download at least the driver and maybe the mediasource organizer

• Zen Micro Problem! It's Urgent!!!! Please Help me!!

OK, so recently i just got a brand new Zen Micro and i had a Zen Micro before the one i currently own, but i traded it for my current one because i couldnt get sound out of the earjacks sometimes. My old Zen used to instantly get on either of my computers, one which iz a windows 2000 and another which iz a windows xp.
Anyway, now that i have my new one, ever since i've gotten it, every time i plug it into the USB outlet, it says its not connected. I went to recovery mode and did every single option there, because not only did my family say that's what i should do, but a good friend i have that works at Best Buy told me to do that also. So i did that and all that did was delete the 3 songs that came with the mp3 player and get rid of my firmware, which i cant download because my computer doesnt recognize my zen!!!! PLEASE HELPPPPPPP!!!
I know there have been many other posts like this but im 5 and not too educated with computers. I just want to know exactly how do i fix this problem, or if i can or if i should just give up now and trade it in for another zen micro. I'd like to stay with the one i have now, but this is seriously getting annoying!

Ok, it doesnt appear on my device manager. I've tried both my Windows XP and Windows 2000, neither seem to notice it. It glows with a blue aura as if like its charging, and on the Windows XP, it does show that its docked but i still can not get it to upload music or even be noticed on the device manager. I do hear the ding-dong though, and i can upload songs through musicmatch, but i'd much rather use my zen explorer.
On 2000, i have no reaction other than the charging of the battery. No Docking, No ding-dong sound, Nothing! What should i do now? I even returned it and got another Micro in hopes that this annoyance would end but it continues to proceed! Any help is welcomed and i need help ASAP because i have an upcoming vacation and i'd like to have at least some entertainment other than the TV in my hotel room!

• Creative Zen Micro problem! PLEASE HELP

can anyone help me please?
I am on my 3rd replacement for my Zen Micro. I have had problems with switching my Zen on and for it to even attempt to function properly. I turn on my Zen and once the screen turns back to the song that i was playing when i previously turned it off, it plays about 2 seconds of the song and then releases an unpleasant high pitched drone in my ears. This happens 9 times out of 0 whenever i switch on my Zen.
I am doing nothing different whatsoever, other than listening to it throughout the day. It still has 4GB left! I really am very upset about it all.
This is now getting ridiculous. I have rebooted it, uploaded firmware, formatted my Zen and wiped it then put all of the music back on, "cleaned it up" and still i have problems. I am VERY angry, frustrated and completely disappointed in this product. I have never found so many problems with a product!
Please let me know what can be done.
I have emailed Creative Support 4 times in the past week and i have had nothing in return. I need a new player as i use it every day. I cant get a refund (i dont think) because it was a gift and my dad bought it online. I just want a working Creative mp3 player.
Thanks!

It sounds like you've tried everything as far as troubleshooting goes (updating firmware, the options in Recovery Mode). Unfortunately it does look like there is a problem with your player then.
You didn't mention when you originally got the player (the first one, or your last replacement), but in any case it would be best to speak to Customer Support and outline the problems you've been having, and let them know you're not happy, to see what they can do for you.

• Help!!! Zen Micro problem

I have been having problems with my zen micro for i while now(with problems with audio etc and it switching itself on and off). Well today, i go to plug in my computer and the computer couldn't detect it, so i unplugged it to which on the screen it came up with "low battery". This didnt concern me until i went to charge my micro and now i cant even charge it. Yesterday i found by pressing a certain point on the back of my micro and could increase the volume and make the sound better or worse. I now get nothing from my zen micro as it just sits there doing nothing. I cant even turn it on.
Has anyone else had problems like this? Can anyone help me?

Zen Micro
Ensure that the Zen Micro is turned off.
Remove the battery.
Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the Zen Micro. Hold the Power button until the rescue mode appears.
The following options will be displayed:
) Clean Up (Performs a disk scan on the players harddisk)
2) Format All (Formats the players harddisk - Note: all contents will be lost)
3) Reload OS (Reloads the Operating System on the Jukebox. Note: Reloading your OS, will not effect the contents of the files stored on your Zen Micro) Caution: Do not select this option until a firmware update has been downloaded onto the PC
4) Reboot (Reboots the device).PS Cat wrote this i just copied it from one of her links to help you.

• Zen micro problems, help! Any creative in Chi

Hi guys I'm having problems with my Zen Micro since about two weeks it has been presenting several problems I've treated my micro very carefully it has only fell once to a carpet at not much a height and I'm getting various problems. When I play music after random play all like 5 times the mp3 gets stuck and only way to reset it is removing the battery. However, when i put the battery back and i turn it on it sometimes gets stuck on the creative screen or in rebuilding library. The only way to make my micro work again is connecting it to my pc and waiting for it to turn on. I'm very concerned and I would like to try to take it to creative to repair but I don't really know if there is a creative store or authorized local in Chile. Maybe there's also another solution for my problem without taking it to repair. However, I've tried various different methods (I've entered recovery mode, done clean up, I've also formatted, upgraded the firmware, but the problem still occurs). Could this malfunction could be caused by the battery of the zen failing?
Thanks very much.

up! come on any moderators plz help

• Zen Micro Problems...Help ple

I've had zen micro for a couple of months now, and on friday, I don't quite know what happened, but it sort of froze while I was using it. After it turing itself off, I turned it back on. The sceen came on normally, but at the next screen that should have been the one that says which song's you're listening to and stuff, it simply said "creative and froze. I tried letting the battery run out by itself, and recharging and turning it on, but nothing worked. I tried plugging it into my computer, but despite the fact hat I had just plugged it in the same way I always had, apparently the computer couldn't find a ny attached devices. I tried rebooting and whatnot already, and even tried wiping the disk empty, but it just keeps on freezing and not working. I tried phoninh in, but apparently my 60 day phone service or something has run out, so I came here. Does anyone know what I should do? :smileyindifferent:

I had nearly the same thing happened to my Zen Micro. It froze on me on the 3rd day after purchased while listening to a song. I would have to wait until it turned off and when switch on again it was stuck on the "Creative" screen. This screen would last for about minute then change to the "Recovery Mode" with four options. I tried all four options but none would work. I finally packed it up and exchanged it for a new one at best buy, this time I bought a 2-year performance plan for 20 bucks.
My pet theory... I used the "plays for sure" option which I believe may be problematic since it's new. Also, I may have made a mistake by trying to use the Zen Media Explorer and WMP0 for syncing. After downloading songs using ZME, I synced using WMP and realized it was trying to re-copy my entire library. I halted this operation and the next day my Zen froze.
My new Zen is now installed using the other firmware (not "plays for sure") ..0. So far, after a week, there has been no problems.
If yours doesn't go into recovery mode after a minute or so, you can force it by taking out the battery, slide and hold the on-switch on while replacing the battery. The Recovery Mode should start up. Good luck and hope you are able to fix yours.

• Zen Micro problem

as usual it seems..
Well, since my pc and zen won't find eachother I'm soon giving up. I've read every topic concerning this and I'm soon giving up. This sucks :/
My problem is this, after I had installed all the software and drivers I was looking forward to finally transfer my mp3 to this gorgeous beauty. When I plug the USB cable into the player I get the famous "drrring" sound from both the Windows XP operating system and the "Organizer". Here it looks like there's no problems, but when I enter the organizer it says "Connect the player". I've tried every single USB port on my computer, I've uninstalled every creative thing I could find, and then re-installing it but nothing seems to help.
Anyone knows a good solution to this? It really sucks you know

There may be a compatibility issue with the Micro and the USB Chipset of the computer. For starters I would try connecting the Micro to some other PC to make sure it works. Keep in mind as well that the Drivers for the Micro will need to be installed on that machine prior to connecting the Micro for the first time.
IF that works or is not an option I would also considder trying a USB 2.0 PCI add on card (Preferably one that uses a VIA chipset as there have been reports here of people with connection issues having good luck after gettign one)
Also if you are running Windows XP you may want to try upgrading to Service Pack 2 if you have not already done so.

• Creative Zen Micro Problems Par

I have done a lot of research into the problems I have been experiencing with my new Zen Micro as detailed last night. It would appear that this is a common problem with a number of disgruntled users. I bought my player for ?200 to use with the Napster to go service and from the very beginning I have had nothing but hassle. I have contacted both Napster and Creative Customer Support but so far have heard nothing from them. I have spent the last 3 days formatting my hard dri've, trying 3 or 4 different USB connectors, Reinstalling the software provided about 30 times, reinstalling Napster, Reinstalling Windows Media Player 0 and I have even tried every single option in the players recovery mode. What a mistake the last thing was I deleted the firmware and even though I have downloaded replacement firmware I am unable to install it on my player because despite all the actions I have taken above my Micro is still not being recognised by my computer. I have been through Napster, Zen Micro Media Explorer and Windows Media Player and all I get is a message saying there is no device connected. An absolute disgrace!!! I will await a response from Napster and Creative with interest and will give them a chance to redeem themselves however I am growing angrier and angrier by the moment because of this ridiculous situation!!!!!!!

It would have been better to keep the problem within your previous thread.

Do you mean USB cards or cables? If cards, what cards have you tried and what chipsets do they have?
Reinstalling the software provided about 30 times, reinstalling Napster, Reinstalling Windows Media Player 0 and I have even tried every single option in the players recovery mode.
If the problem is with the USB compatibility with the player, reinstalling the software won't help unfortunately...

Deleting the firmare does seem to cause a serious issue as it seems to be very difficult for the player to be recognised by the PC afterwards, or at least by the firmware update program. If you couldn't get the player to be recognised beforehand though then chances are it still won't recognise it. Are you able to connect to say a friend's PC and run the update from there? Make sure to install the drivers on your friend's PC first, and they will need to have both Win XP and WMP0.

Dear Mr. M,the earphones were originally shipped on 5-02-2005. Due to the corruption of your address in our system due to its length this failed. New earphones were shipped on 29-03. In order to avoid delays in the future please contact european support directly by sending mails only to]. The warranty for the device is one year plus any time the device is out of your possession for replacement under the warranty. Please retain all the previous correspondence when replying to this email.---------------------------------------
RE:
The corruption of my address in your system is not my problem, it doesnt matter to me. All I want is my headphones as soon as possible. The mistake was made, and it took 45 days to correct, despite my many many emails inquiring about the problem that went on unanswered. That is all I see.
As a customer I expect the manufactuer to face up to their mistakes and instead of blaming it on computer problems. I expect the manufactuer to make an effort to fix their mistakes, for example, by sending it out overnight mail. And also, i did not hear any mention of the warrenty covering this lost time, this lost time that is the fault of the manufacturer, what is the policy on that?
Also...i have just recieved my Zen Micro and battery. Well...you guys sent me the wrong battery! I dont know how that is possible since they were both shipped together. I have battery num#333A4Z2DEGD. But now listen to me carefully, do not send me my new battery with some under 0days service. I want it OVERNIGHT. I am tired of these problems and dealing with this weak customer service. I just want to listen to music...thats it.

If you would like assistance with your problem then contact support directly at the email that they provided you. I can not help you in this matter. This will be the last post regarding your specific problem on the forums as it needs to be taken care of directly. • Zen micro problems, he

Hi everybody I write here asking because I have some problems with my Creative Zen Micro. In the last month it has been getting stuck repeated times while i'm playing it, sometimes when I pass from one song to another in all tracks random play it stays stuck and I have to reset it by removing the battery and putting it back but then it gets stuck once again when re-building library. The thing is when I have the zen connected to the charger it always works, it turns on perfectly and yesterday I used it with a music system for around 2 hours with absolutely no problems, in fact changing songs a lot and it always worked.... what's about with this? What do you think is the problem with my zen i would like to be able to use it once again without having a plug to connect it anymore.... maybe I need a new battery I don't know.. help plz !

I have nearly the same problem with Zen MicroPhoto. I've dropped it once or twice and maybe the hard disk is damaged. I have "fixed" it by filling the player up to the limit, deleteing the song which "get stuck" and replacing them with pictures... Unfortunately in your case it won't work . Try to "mark" the damaged files by changing the name of the Album of this songs with "!" or "" and when playing with "Random Play All" simply remove them from the top of the "Selected" list... Yes and try not to rebuild library at all )
