Zen MIcro-Problems downloading so

I am having problems downloading songs onto my new Zen MIcro 5GB MP3 Player. I have read the online instructions and it says to use the drag and drop method? I'm confused. I added my songs into the music library and then into the selected music folder as instructed, but they are still not showing up on my player. Please help. I'm FRUSTRATED!!!!!

Drag and drop refers to the player appearing in Windows Explorer. You then drag the files from the relevant folder to the player icon.
It sounds like you're using MediaSource, and have imported the files into the PC Music Library. Now you need to transfer them from the PC Music Library to the player. Note that having the tracks in the PC Music Library is not necessary, you can just transfer them direct from the My Computer view. Here is a thread on transferring using MediaSource.

  • No Zen Micro Problems, Post H

Well this is my first post on the forums and I am this close to buying a zen micro. I would have bought one yesterday until I stumbled upon the head-phone jack problem. I want to hear from people who have a zen micro problem free and how long you have had it. I've owned 3 previous creative players that have all worked great, so I'm hoping that there are only a small amount of people with this problem making all the noise (e.g. the sony psp dead pixel issue). So if you're happy with your zen micro let me know!!

    Kpm,
It's ok, most people miss that option at first so it's no biggie. Personally I own a Zen Micro and take is almost everywhere with me. I have had no major problems and the minor ones were self created. I would highly recommend it. Now I do have a bias (as I am a Creative Employee) but I personally love this player.

  • ZEN MICRO FIRMWARE DOWNLOAD PROBLEM! PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!

I've had my 6gb micro for a little over 2 wks..and i wanted to download the free 30 day Napster to go offer that came with my package..and one of the steps before downloading Napster was updating Zen Micro's firmware..well i tried and it downloaded and after it asked me to select my language, i got a message saying: "your player's not connected, please connect your player" and my mp3 was hooked up through the USB..so i tried reconnecting and it still said the same...so at this time i skipped over updating this firmware and downloaded my subscription to Napster anyway...everything was working fine..i was downloading songs in Napster and syncing them with windows media player 0 which i already had on my comp...but about 5 days ago, my syncs began to start failing often...and I'm sure that i need these firmware updates for my mp3 to transfer files successfully but the problem is that my mp3 is not being recognized every time i try to install these firmware updates.... I'm quite stumped at this point.....DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY HELP THEY CAN OFFER ME.. ID GREATLY APPRECIATE IT by the way the firmware version that came with my player and is currently on it is 2.20.05

The firmware version you have is fine for Napster tracks, so you don't need to update. If your transfers are failing, there's something else going on.

  • Zen Micro Music Download Conundrum - Really Frustrated Help Nee

<SPAN class=posttext>Man am I frustrated - really frustrated. Here is my conundrum:
I have a Zen Micro. I want to purchase music online. It is a frikin' maze of problem solving. I download from iTunes, they have some sort of proprietary format that my Zen won't play. Okay - no problem. I go to Yahoo music. You have to pay to subscribe and then download. They are wma anyway. Napster is wma as well. Walmart music is wma too. I would try Rhapsody, but I think you have to pay to subscribe and download as well. It just occurred to me - Sony has a music download site as well? I will check them next. I tried converting the Napster wma into an MP3 but I got a message the Creative software cannot convert the file. Arghhhhh.
So - what is the easy way? Is there a site I can pay and download mp3 music files and transfer them to my Zen Micro? Or is there a freeware converter to convert wma files into mp3 files - that is if the downloaded files do not have a voodoo whammy curse on them that prevents them from being converted.
Might "Play for Sure" fix this? As far as I can tell this is for subcription services, not for single downloads.
    Thanks for any help.

I'm no expert, but I think Etomi would work for you. I've been downloading music from them for a while now, and while I haven't had an MP3 player to try and download the music to, I know that at the very least, music I got from Etomi is on my hard dri've, and I can burn CDs with those songs.
I also know there is some type of way to convert MP3 to WMA and vice versa although I've never done it.
just google "WMA to MP3" and you should find some sites...

  • Zen Micro Problem! It's Urgent!!!! Please Help me!!

OK, so recently i just got a brand new Zen Micro and i had a Zen Micro before the one i currently own, but i traded it for my current one because i couldnt get sound out of the earjacks sometimes. My old Zen used to instantly get on either of my computers, one which iz a windows 2000 and another which iz a windows xp.
Anyway, now that i have my new one, ever since i've gotten it, every time i plug it into the USB outlet, it says its not connected. I went to recovery mode and did every single option there, because not only did my family say that's what i should do, but a good friend i have that works at Best Buy told me to do that also. So i did that and all that did was delete the 3 songs that came with the mp3 player and get rid of my firmware, which i cant download because my computer doesnt recognize my zen!!!! PLEASE HELPPPPPPP!!!
I know there have been many other posts like this but im 5 and not too educated with computers. I just want to know exactly how do i fix this problem, or if i can or if i should just give up now and trade it in for another zen micro. I'd like to stay with the one i have now, but this is seriously getting annoying!

Ok, it doesnt appear on my device manager. I've tried both my Windows XP and Windows 2000, neither seem to notice it. It glows with a blue aura as if like its charging, and on the Windows XP, it does show that its docked but i still can not get it to upload music or even be noticed on the device manager. I do hear the ding-dong though, and i can upload songs through musicmatch, but i'd much rather use my zen explorer.
On 2000, i have no reaction other than the charging of the battery. No Docking, No ding-dong sound, Nothing! What should i do now? I even returned it and got another Micro in hopes that this annoyance would end but it continues to proceed! Any help is welcomed and i need help ASAP because i have an upcoming vacation and i'd like to have at least some entertainment other than the TV in my hotel room!

  • Help!!! Zen Micro problem

I have been having problems with my zen micro for i while now(with problems with audio etc and it switching itself on and off). Well today, i go to plug in my computer and the computer couldn't detect it, so i unplugged it to which on the screen it came up with "low battery". This didnt concern me until i went to charge my micro and now i cant even charge it. Yesterday i found by pressing a certain point on the back of my micro and could increase the volume and make the sound better or worse. I now get nothing from my zen micro as it just sits there doing nothing. I cant even turn it on.
Has anyone else had problems like this? Can anyone help me?

    <FONT color=#0033ff size=4>Zen Micro
Ensure that the Zen Micro is turned off.
    Remove the battery.
Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the Zen Micro. Hold the Power button until the rescue mode appears.
The following options will be displayed:
) Clean Up (Performs a disk scan on the players harddisk)
    2) Format All (Formats the players harddisk - Note: all contents will be lost)
    3) Reload OS (Reloads the Operating System on the Jukebox. Note: Reloading your OS, will not effect the contents of the files stored on your Zen Micro) Caution: Do not select this option until a firmware update has been downloaded onto the PC
    4) Reboot (Reboots the device).PS Cat wrote this i just copied it from one of her links to help you.

  • Zen Micro problem, please help

I changed my Zen Micro's firmware to "PlaysForSure", but then I wanted to get back the original firmware.
So I used the "Recovery mode" to erase PlaysForSure firmware (v. 2.2.02) and then tried to load the original firmware (v. ..0).
Then my problems begun: firmware updater says "Your player is not connected, please connect your player.", altough my player is correctly connected and the drivers and other Creative's stuff are installed.
Computer (WinXP) ofcourse detects the player (as a PlaysForSure device).
I also tried to load the PlayesForSure firmware again, but it didn't work either.
So, what can I do to fix my Zen Micro's firmware?
Does the warranty cover this kind of things?
I would be very pleased if someone knows what to do, because my player really doesn't work now at all.

Okey, now I have uninstalled WMP and WMP Runtime Format, and installed WMP 0 again, but still firmware updater doesn't find my player connected. The player appears in the device manager as a "Portable media player", not under USB devices as when it was running with firmware ..0. If I try to uninstal the drivers, driver uninstaller totally freezes, and I think that all USB devices freeze too. So what can I do now?
    pie wrote:
how do you install wmp0, i tried but it wont let me because its an older version
Open add/remove programs, click "show updates", scroll to windows updates, uninstall WMP and then WMP Runtime Format (after every uninstall you will have to restart your computer). Then download WMP 0 from http://www.microsoft.com and install it.

Well at least you got it working. MTP does require your system to be nearly perfect as MTP relies on a dozen (or more) files to get itself working completly, if one isn't working then you got yourself problems. But at least you figured out a repair of XP was a solution for you. Another would of been to reinstall the Service Pack.

  • Zen Micro - problem synchronising fi

Hi There,I have an Zen Micro. I download podcasts to my computer (windows 2000) en synchronise the downloaded files with Creatieve Mediasource Organizer to my Zen Micro. Some downloaded files it won't synchronise. I think te reason why is that the title on the ID3 tag has got numbers in it. Anybody have the same problem or can someone tell me the exact problem / solution?thanx
    Wouter

There shouldn't be anything wrong with a title tag that has numbers. Have you tried manually copying the file? If you're worried the tag is at fault then copy the file, remove the tag data, and try copying again.

  • Zen Micro Problem (music libra

im new to these boards, but i have to say there great lots of info!!! So on to my problem my 4GB Zen Micro works perfect except for one thing, if you start it on cold boot up like if you havent used it in a few hours the Creative Labs screen after the water droplet or whatever you call it. anyways the top left part of the Creative labs logo would be missing like a chunk taken out of it. When this happens it paused for like 3 seconds then boots up fine. So i thought updating my firmware to the newest one (i previously had ..0) So i backed up all my files before i updated into a folder on my computer. After i downloaded the firmware i downloaded all my songs back onto it. This is where the problem starts, after i download songs i always go to Creative Mediasource organizer and organize them so they wont be in all sorts of catagories on the player, like when i first download them. When i transfered the songs back onto the mp3 they where scrambled in catagories. Somehow I was trying to fix it but i accedently deleted all the songs from my player and backup files. So now ill have to download all my songs again and organize them into there catagories which would take hours. Is there anyways you can organize songs quicker? Just beacause when i download songs of limewire sometimes the artist's names arent spelled correctly or wrong genre or incorrect title......stuff like that. so when i download them from my computer to the zen its all scrambled on the player unorganized, which bothers me. Anyway quicker to organize? Sorry for such a long post
    Please help me!!!
    thanks!!!!

This is normal. I get the same problem with ..0, and just put it down to rather inelegant programming.

If you've updated to the v2.xx PlayForSure/MTP firmware, when you copy tracks to the player the PC will view the player as having folders. On the player itself though it will still use tag data.
It's always important to have clean tag data as the player works using this, so find a tagging program that suits you, and put some work into organising them.

  • Creative Zen Micro Problems Par

I have done a lot of research into the problems I have been experiencing with my new Zen Micro as detailed last night. It would appear that this is a common problem with a number of disgruntled users. I bought my player for ?200 to use with the Napster to go service and from the very beginning I have had nothing but hassle. I have contacted both Napster and Creative Customer Support but so far have heard nothing from them. I have spent the last 3 days formatting my hard dri've, trying 3 or 4 different USB connectors, Reinstalling the software provided about 30 times, reinstalling Napster, Reinstalling Windows Media Player 0 and I have even tried every single option in the players recovery mode. What a mistake the last thing was I deleted the firmware and even though I have downloaded replacement firmware I am unable to install it on my player because despite all the actions I have taken above my Micro is still not being recognised by my computer. I have been through Napster, Zen Micro Media Explorer and Windows Media Player and all I get is a message saying there is no device connected. An absolute disgrace!!! I will await a response from Napster and Creative with interest and will give them a chance to redeem themselves however I am growing angrier and angrier by the moment because of this ridiculous situation!!!!!!!

It would have been better to keep the problem within your previous thread.

Do you mean USB cards or cables? If cards, what cards have you tried and what chipsets do they have?
Reinstalling the software provided about 30 times, reinstalling Napster, Reinstalling Windows Media Player 0 and I have even tried every single option in the players recovery mode.
If the problem is with the USB compatibility with the player, reinstalling the software won't help unfortunately...

Deleting the firmare does seem to cause a serious issue as it seems to be very difficult for the player to be recognised by the PC afterwards, or at least by the firmware update program. If you couldn't get the player to be recognised beforehand though then chances are it still won't recognise it. Are you able to connect to say a friend's PC and run the update from there? Make sure to install the drivers on your friend's PC first, and they will need to have both Win XP and WMP0.

  • Zen Micro Problems / Firmw

I'm fairly new to the whole MP3 player thing. I got my Black Zen Micro in May; I haven't had any problems since. Recently, within the past two weeks or so, my player has frozen. I think it has been only the once, having to remove the battery in order to get it to turn off. Also, when trying to upload music onto my MP3 player, I can upload it fine using the software, but when taking the lead out it freezes and only about, 3 songs if I'm lucky load onto it. Things have been mentioned about firmware and such, but I have never downloaded or used it. As I am new to things, if you have any suggestions could you please keep it simple? =D I am from the UK but the school doesn't let me get on the UK forums. I've heard this quite a lot, and read one post about it, but it doesn't help because I don't really understand it much.. Is it a common problem? I brought my Zen from Amazon - Does anyone know if you can send it back to them due to the problems, or send it to Zen if nothing happens and it still doesn't work? Thanks in advance.

See the "My Zen is not behaving properly, and/or won't startup, or goes into rescue mode. What should I do?" section of the FAQ post.

My advice is get the ..0 firmware and apply this.

  • Nwe Zen Micro, problems with battery cha

Brand new user, bought 2 Zen Micro Photo's for my daughters for Christmas. I read the postings on battery situations, but wanted to get a clearer answer to my problem.
Our Zen's will charge when plugged in to my computer at work, Windows XP professional 5., this is where I have the Creative Software downloaded and have done my setup, ripping and downloading. Problem is, I can not ge them to charge on my computer at home, the lightning bolt flashes, but the battery bars do not increase.
How long does it need to charge to be fully charged? I understand the lightning bolt changes to something else when fully charged?
Do you have to have the software loaded to charge it's
How long should the battery last after being fully charged? They are depleting in about 4 hours time.
Also, what bit rate do you recommend for song downloads to get maximum usage?

Just to add to the advice so far, make sure the faceplate light is pulsing as well. If not, this is a sign that things are not well.
The first thing to try though is updating both players to at least the ..0 firmware, which includes several charging fixes and features. Specifically the new lock charging, where you lock the player (slide the power switch towards the headphone socket) before connecting to USB. This di'verts all the USB power to charging the player and often solves the issue.
How long does it need to charge to be fully charged? I understand the lightning bolt changes to something else when fully charged?
The lightning bolt will change to a plug, if the player is switched on. If the player is turned off the screen will go blank. In either situation the faceplate light will also stop pulsing.
Do you have to have the software loaded to charge it's
No, not if you use lock charging.
You can also put the player in USB mass storage mode, explained in the manual.
How long should the battery last after being fully charged? They are depleting in about 4 hours time.
Totally depends on usage. If you skip tracks a lot, use high bit-rates, upload/download tracks to/from the player, and use the EQ or Smart Volume, then the battery life will be reduced significantly.
Also, what bit rate do you recommend for song downloads to get maximum usage?
The lower the better, but there's a trade-off between the battery life and the resulting audio quality that you might not be happy with. Refer to my battery curves thread to see how much battery you will save.

  • Zen Micro Problems...Help ple

I've had zen micro for a couple of months now, and on friday, I don't quite know what happened, but it sort of froze while I was using it. After it turing itself off, I turned it back on. The sceen came on normally, but at the next screen that should have been the one that says which song's you're listening to and stuff, it simply said "creative and froze. I tried letting the battery run out by itself, and recharging and turning it on, but nothing worked. I tried plugging it into my computer, but despite the fact hat I had just plugged it in the same way I always had, apparently the computer couldn't find a ny attached devices. I tried rebooting and whatnot already, and even tried wiping the disk empty, but it just keeps on freezing and not working. I tried phoninh in, but apparently my 60 day phone service or something has run out, so I came here. Does anyone know what I should do? :smileyindifferent:

I had nearly the same thing happened to my Zen Micro. It froze on me on the 3rd day after purchased while listening to a song. I would have to wait until it turned off and when switch on again it was stuck on the "Creative" screen. This screen would last for about minute then change to the "Recovery Mode" with four options. I tried all four options but none would work. I finally packed it up and exchanged it for a new one at best buy, this time I bought a 2-year performance plan for 20 bucks.
My pet theory... I used the "plays for sure" option which I believe may be problematic since it's new. Also, I may have made a mistake by trying to use the Zen Media Explorer and WMP0 for syncing. After downloading songs using ZME, I synced using WMP and realized it was trying to re-copy my entire library. I halted this operation and the next day my Zen froze.
My new Zen is now installed using the other firmware (not "plays for sure") ..0. So far, after a week, there has been no problems.
If yours doesn't go into recovery mode after a minute or so, you can force it by taking out the battery, slide and hold the on-switch on while replacing the battery. The Recovery Mode should start up. Good luck and hope you are able to fix yours.

  • Zen Micro problem need help

Today i was listening to music and my zen micro just froze while playing and no buttons could be pressed and the lock button wasnt on. So i took the battery out and rebooted the player but it froze at the creative screen. I went home and i went to recovery mode and tried to reload the firmware but it said erasing firmware for more than 2 hours. So then i tried a format but it said formating for the same amount of time. I need help please. Also, recently i've had problems witht the headphone jack. When ever i would stick it in it would sound distorted and i would have to move it around until i got it to a certain spot to hear it good again. If anyone else has this problem please tell me. One more thing i had returned my other micro zen in for hard dri've probems and this was my new one do u think if i have to return in (hopefully not) that they would accept it.

If the functions in Rescue Mode aren't working properly then you need to contact Creative Support.
