Zen Micro Radio Recept

I have a zen micro, and I have to say I love it. I get almost 4 hours out of the batteries. I have had no problems whatsoever. My only thing is the radio reception. I know that it generally sucks, but I made a discovery last night. With any headphones I used, the reception was bad. When I plugged a Bose headphones extender into it the receptio jumped to almost perfect. It would seem that the reception is directly related to the length of the headphone cord. Has anyone else expireinced this?

I love in vancouver Canada, and im using the stock creative headphones and i so far have had no problem with the radio what so ever. although the sound does become fuzzy if i go into lower levels of the mall but that is just a minor thing to me.

  • Zen micro radio reception & headpho

Quick question for anyone. I currently have the Zen micro & I am looking to get a new pair of headphones. The one that came with it don't really fit my ears! I had heard at one time (I thought) that the headphones that came with it have the antenna built into for the radio reception. Is this true or false? If it's true do all of Creative's headphones have the antenna built into it's If not, will any headphones due?
    Thanks for any help!!

any headphones will do...the wires of the headphones act as the antenna..

  • Zen Micro radio prob

My Zen Micros radio doesn't work at all. When I try to listen to it there is no sound at all. Does anybody know why?

Just a thought - have you tried tapping the play/pause button to take it out of the "presets" mode? Mine is perfectly silent when in preset mode with no preset set. Tapping the pause button allows you to toggle to scan or tune via the forward/back buttons.

  • Remote Zen Micro, FM recept

    Hi,
I am wondering if the remote for the Zen Micro will help receiving FM radio channels. Where i li've almost all radio channels are just noise.
FM reception becomes a lot better if I use a pair of Sennheiser HD 455 compared to the original headphones. (Problem with the Sennheiser is the size)
    Thanks,
    Jacob (Denmark)

I could be wrong but, I believe that only whatever is plugged into the headphone jack serves as a reception enhancer.

I just tried with some headphones I have that have an extension wire. I removed the wire so the headphones themselves only have abour 30cm of cable. I actually got a reasonable reception, but I am in the middle of a large city. With the bluetooth headset I guess it's going to depend on exactly how much cable there is, not much presumably, and the strength of local stations.

  • Zen Micro FM Recept

I bought the Zen Micro for the sole purpose of recording my favorite morning show while i was getting ready, but it turns out, the FM recpetion stinks. Even my Emmerson 996 tape player gets better reception than this thing. So i was wondering if there was ANYTHING i could do to get some better sound out of the FM tuner, maybe put some aluminum foil around it, or will a firmware update do the trick, please help me out. Creative, you got a good product, but come on, fix that FM Tuner!

I had a lot of problems with FM Reception with my first Micro too. Turns out I also had a problem with the headphone jack. When I would insert the headphones, if they weren't in a certain way or moved around, sound only came out of the right ear. My brother's didn't do this. I returned the unit to Wal-Mart, purchased another one, and the headphone jack works great. My FM Reception is also ALOT better. Places in my house I couldn't get any reception, I now get full stereo. Check your headphone jack.

I recently upgraded the Firmware on my Zen Micro 5gb. Now the radio function is missing from the menu. ?

I've also experienced exactly the same problem with my Zen Micro. I have been emailing Creative support to see if they can help finding a solution or fix in getting it back but everything they suggested don't seem to work =(

  • Zen Micro Radio Problems -No Sou

I just bought a Zen Micro with the .0.03 firmware. It works fine playing mp3's but when I try the radio I hear nothing. Tried using autoscan and it picks up a bunch of frequencies that I know are not radio stations and I hear nothing on them either.
I upgraded to the new firmware (.02.05) but still no joy.
The radio worked once for about a second when I was trying to tune in stations, but that was only a short blast of static, the rest of the time its just quiet even with volume turned right up.
    What gives?

ya just changed a sennheiser ear piece and it seem abit shorter than creative orginal ones..
    and some stations becomes hissing....
as I know the FM antenna is the wire of ur earpiece.
but have to give and take , cos sennhesier earpiece sound more better....

  • Zen Micro FM Improvemen

    Hi
I have just recently got my Micro (updated with the latest firmware)
    and its great!!!
The only feature I have a few small problems with is the FM radio,
I am in the UK, and the reception is not brilliant.
In all the portable radio devices I hav owned in the past, manually switching
the reception mode to Mono on Stereo stations, improved reception.
The Zen Micro radio, automatically sets the reception mode for a station, and you cant manually switch a stereo station to mono reception (at least, I don't seem to be able to)
Do you think a possible firmware upgrade would make it possible to do that, and save the desired setting with the preset? Something like choosing the mode between MONO/STEREO/AUTO
Apart from that, everything is excellent!
    well done creative!
    Dave

i have the same problem the reception of the FM its very fuzzy a MONO/STEREO switcher could be a good solution..

  • FYI: Replacement Z Micro - Radio seems FAR bet

Just a quick post to tell anyone who is having problems with their radio that the problem might not be generic to the Zen Micro. I sent mine back mainly because of of a faulty headphone jack. However i did tell customer support that my radio had awful coverage. i had told friends that the zen micro radio was crap and not to buy it if they were expecting a 'working' radio BUT i just took deli'very today of my new zen micro and the radio seems WAY better. so just a bit of advice, if you think your radio is not up to scratch, test out a friends radio on their Zen Micro if possible and see if it just your radio that is crap. if so creative should sort it for you.
p.s. Cat, if your reading this could you tell me if you managed to find out about the Zen Micro speakers. thanks (i had mentioned in another tread seeing a picture of lime green speakers with a lime green zen micro and you said you would get back to me about a time frame for their release)

    ERROR IWTH REVIEW:
You mentioned that you cannot tune the radio for youself. You can do so however. Just go to the FM Radio and press the play/pause button. The 'Preset
?' thing will dissappear and then you can just tap the |<< and >>| buttons until you reach the disired frequency

  • Is zen micro meant to work with radio transmitters like the iTr

just wondering if the zen is meant to work with uni'versal radio transmitters like the iTrip or the belkin unit... i can't seem to find an accessory offered by Creative that does the same thing... please help

    thanks for the replies =)
the reason i asked was because i used the tunecast with a cheapo no-brand mp3 player and it worked perfectly, but when i tried it out with my creative zen micro it wouldn't work... a new pair of AAA batteries fixed the problem though =) the old ones were still lighting up the little LED, but not powering the unit enough to transmit to the stereo...

  • Zen Micro, FM Radio, Backup/Edit presets on P

Here is my question : is there a way to backup and edit radio presets on my PC ?
Let's say you named all your 32 presets on your Zen Micro and now you must format your device. Then you need to backup your radio presets on your PC in order to reload them onto your Zen after formatting.
And because it is not that easy to name the presets using the Zen Micro, it would be very usefull to be able to edit presets directly on a PC before transfering them to the audio device.
Is there any existing solutions ?
Is there going to be one ?
    Thank you for any help.

a solution like you describe has been suggested before by users, but I'm unaware of any solution available today. :-(
Note, I'm not sure whether a Reformat erases you radio presets, but I do know that a "disc cleanup" (from the rescue mode menu) erases them (somewhat surprisingly, given the name of the action).

  • Zen Micro, FM Radio thru

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to attach the Zen Micro to your PC and have it play FM radio over USB and through the computer speakers. I know it is possible to do so with the mp3's on the Zen. I believe this would be extremely handy, especially for me.

just a straight stereo patch cable (like with the headphone jack on both ends)...from your player to the line in jack on your sound card. they are like 5 bucks at radio shackMessage Edited by flyer608 on 02-07-2005 2:50 AM

  • Zen Micro: Selecting Japanese Radio B

    Hello,
how do I select the Japanese frequency band for the FM radio on a Zen Micro? I cannot find any setting to do it.
    Regards,
    Dirk

If I recall correctly, this was removed from the later firmware. I'm not sure if you have to use an Asian firmware now to access the correct FM band...

  • Creative Zen Micro - FM Radio Bro

Hi, I want to explain my bad experience with a Creative Zen Micro 6GB.
I bought it in late December 2005, and until now always worked fine.
Suddently, some days ago the Radio FM men? disappeared, as described in some other messages here in the forum. I've tryed to reset it, and to upgrade firmware again.
The upgrade procedure went fine, the reset/disk cleanup/format ecc. from Recovery Men? went fine too, but as final result the FM Radio doesn't work anymore at all.
Sometimes FM Radio men? appers, sometimes not (yes, randomly); moreover, when I try to enter FM Radio men?, the Creative Zen locks
I think I can't do anything else more, I already contacted Creative for support.
I already had nice experience with Creative support, so I don't worry too much; I'm just annoyed that a brand new product broke so soon...
