Zen Micro Recording with built-in microph

Hi,
is there any way i can adjust the recording volume of the microphone built in the zen micro?
and is there any way i can record using my own microphone instead of the built-in one?
thanks..

The answer to both those questions is no. You get what you get with the built in mic.

how do I sync with outlook? The softwear that the zen micro comes with isn't responding when I plug my mirco in, it says inte not connected even though it is (and I know it is becuase it syncs with napster...)

First you need to get your computer to be able to recognize your player. You can find hundreds of posts here by doing a search. Then you have to use the Zen Micro Media Explorer and select the Sync Music and Outlook button.

  • How to install Zen Micro 5GB with firmware 2.00

How? I went to my store, and they said I must use "Sync" in WMP 0... but how ?

I for one don't understand your question... You may want to rephrase and elaborate a bit.
Are you talking about something to install on your PC? It's true that you can use WMP (Windows Media Player) to load music to a Zen Micro with 2.00.2. You could also install the specific version of Zen Explorer (see the download section of Creative.com). You need to get the right version, because the version of Zen Explorer on the CD in the box, only works on .x firmware

  • Zen Micro Recorder quest

I used my Micro to record my son's gig (wow...sound was actually pretty good, picked up all the solos even) but I wanted to transfer the files to my pc and they don't show in zen explorer. Explorer shows "tracks" playlists albums artists, but I didn't see recordings anywhere. Ideas?
Also, where is the microphone on this thing? I look at it and don't see one anywhere ;-)

There's no way to connect a microphone to the Micro.
I tried to conect my microphone to the Zen Micro through the headphone jack. It works. To make sure that I was really using the microphone instead of the built-in recorder, I recorded "high-volumes of sounds" (read: Shouting). It did not have the problems normally associated with the recording of loud noises.

  • Replacing the standard Zen Micro HD with a Toshiba PMR 40G

<FONT face=Century>Toshiba just announced they are shipping their new PMR (Perpendicular Magnetic Recording) Micro Harddri'ves.. This is something I would love to upgrade too. I've already maxed out my 5GB dri've and I want more music.. I wonder when Creative will start shipping out special Zen Micros with these new dri'ves.. Toshiba makes both a 40GB and a 80GB PMR dri've.

It's a .8" dri've so won't fit in the Zen Micro. It will fit in the likes of the Sleek and the Touch though.

  • Creative zen micro working with itunes.

for i long time i have been using the musiclibrary organisation tool provided by creative... and i have been satisfied...
but last week i discovered itunes... for all i know itunes was originally for apple products only (such as the ipod)... but i read various articles concerning this topic... and i found out that some people believe that it is possible to work with itunes and the zen mico... and here is the point: "How can i tell itunes to work with my great player zen micro?"
just to make sure that there is no offense... i liked the creative tool very much, but from my point of view itunes has got a tiny lead in inconsiderable details...
so i'm counting on your help... hoping to get an answer soon... jok3r

    Zach,
Have you try the legacy driver in this post before with WMP9? Although the Micro Photo player isn't listed in the list, other forum member has posted success with the driver so if you haven't try it yet might as well give it a try.

  • Using Zen Micro(Photo) with plain Explo

Is there a possibility to copy MP3 files simply by drag-and-drop with the Windows Explorer to the Zen Micro(Photo) so that the files are treated as MP3 and NOT as simple data files? Technically it is quiet simple to do this by using the hard disk of the Zen as an extra hard disk in Windows. Even the cheapest USB-stick based MP3-player can do this. Why not a Zen (or the iPod competition)?
I refuse to use any specific software to copy my self ripped MP3-files because I know that that software (Creative, iTunes, even Windows Media Player and other) changes things during the file transfer and I don't want any change in the MP3 files, not even a single bit!
I want to buy a Zen Micro Photo (8 GB, color screen), but I refuse to do it as long as it is impossible to crag-and-drop my MP3 files simply thru the Windows Explorer.

Yeah that's what i always did. I just drag and drop MP3 files directly into my player without using any software whatsoever.

  • Zen Micro starts with blue backlight and then fades to blank scr

My 2 year old Zen Micro which has had little use and few recharge cycles will neither charge, play music, or connect to my computer. I am hoping a battery replacement is all that is needed but hate to buy one if these symptoms don't sound like a bad battery. I have pulled the battery to "reset" it with no benefit. While plugged in I can hear the touch responsi've keys click but the screen is blank besides the charge logo and I get nothing when it is unplugged. It won't be recognized by my computer (Vista and new to the player) so I can't scan the hard dri've. Does this sound like a battery issue or are there other steps to try before replacing the battery. I contacted Creative and all they said was send it in and they will charge me no more than $35 for replacement if the repair is greater. If I had an iPod, they would look at it, swap a battery, and it'swould get solved in one minute at the in-store Genius desk. Thanks in advance.

kind of hard to understand your message but i think i get the general idea.....it should say that until its charged........

  • Recording with Built-in iSight

The reason I bought I didn't buy a laptop is because there were no laptops with built-in iSight back in the day. And now I want to make use of this by recording into iMovie. BUT now they tell me that I can't do that with my version of iMovie, when they specifically told me I could "record video on my computer" when I was buying it. I'm prettty mad so I was wondering if anyone can help me. I believe I have iLife '05...
    Thanks a ton..

To use the built-in iSight included with some Macintosh models, you need to have iMovie HD 6 or later.

  • Zen Micro - problem with hard d

I have a problem with my zen micro. It does not boot up - I have tried reformatting the disk, but no success. One of the technicians I showed it to sugegsted that the hard disk has gone bad and I need to replace it. Any idea of where I can procure one from? Does creative sell it online?

Same problem here. After about 5 months of dutiful use, the hard dri've failed.
It's a paperweight now and I decided quickly and easily that the money it would take to replace the hard dri've was better spent on a flash-based player. Seeing as my original MuVo is still trucking, I'd say that flash-based players are a better choice if your storage needs are small (< 4GB being small these days).

  • Zen Micro defect with Firmware upd

    (Zen Micro version 2.00.2)
I updated my Zen Micro's firmware/drivers/applications the other day and now the player is not detected by creative media source organizer or zen micro media explorer - I have to transfer my songs through Real Player or WMP 0 now. Also, all the song lengths have changed to 8:2:5 long.
I had another problem even before the update - after the player is unlocked, the back arrow does not respond well. It would go to the tracklist then back to now playing. I have to go to the bottom right corner button and "lookup artist" then press back to go back to where I was before I locked it. I don't know if that's just the way the player is designed.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

MediaSource won't work with the 2.00.2 firmware. Best to only upgrade if you are sure you want to use only WMP0.

    No real helpful answer.

If I am not wrong, you need data from SQL tables in form of
XML. Then you can get that straight from SQL by using FOR XML
clause. FOR XML modes can be of 3 types RAW, AUTO or EXPLICIT. You
can use the mode as per your need.

  • I Thought The Zen Micro Came With The AC Adapter

I bought a zen micro two days ago, and I was suprised that I didnt find an AC adapter after reading a couple of reviews saying that came with them. Does anyone have a link to one? I will only buy a creative product. I dont want aftermarket. Thanks in advance

Newer Zen Micros don't come with the AC adapter; mine didn't. (Creative took it out as a cost-cutting measure when they reduced its MSRP, though you might still be able to find units with the charger, especially at Wal-Mart if the reports here are correct.) You can charge it with your PC and the USB cable, or buy a charger; Creative's charger is sold at this site's shop for $29.99 plus $2.99 S&H (see the link from the guy who posted just ahead of me).
I see you only want the Creative charger, but just for reference, I understand aftermarket chargers for most Blackberrys, or Motorola MPx200 or RAZR V3 phones, will work with the Zen Micro; they all charge thru a USB mini-B port. (Of course, I'm not responsible if an aftermarket charger damages your player.)

  • BETA - Creative Zen Micro PlaysForSure with Windows Media Player 10 Update 2.10

I realise this has been talked about before, but...
I installed Creative Zen Micro *PlaysForSure/MTP Firmware 2.00.2 a couple of times and I had trouble syncing tracks. Formatting and Cleaning Up didn't work, before you ask. So i downgraded to previous firmware. I was wondering whether any users who had this problem installed the Beta firmware and found it was OK, because I know I can't downgrade from a Beta release so I wanted to ask before I installed it.

I would imagine that there are people around who would answer YES, and some that would answer NO to your question.
But given what appears to be a large number of people who have troubles with that BETA firmware (esp when used with Napster to go), I would suggest you don't try that BETA firmware unless :
    - you have a high stress level,
    - you don't mind the risk of turning your Micro useless for a few weeks
    - you feel a strong need to take whatever risk to solve whatever problems you have now.
    -- just saying ;-)
