Zen Micro Screen Fadin

hey. I posted a topid earlier about why my firmware wasn't working, but i found out that it was because i have Windows Media Player Installed..but i ended up getting the firmware on. Now i have a worse Problem. Earlier today, i was using my zen micro, and out of nowhere the screen just faded away. I could BARELY see it, and that was only when it was tilted at a certain angle. Now it is back to normal and running fine as far as i know. Why did this happen and will it be a problem in the future should i send it to Creative or would they just reject it since the problem isnt occuring right at this moment so, should i send it, or ignore it's PS: my battery was fully charged at the time

Stuck on "Zen Micro" screen... help

When I turn on my Zen Micro, it shows all the normal screens like "creative" and etc. But after the drop of water screen, it goes to the Zen Micro screen and stays stuck there. I've already tried rebooting and disk cleanup and it still does the same thing. Any suggestions?

Have you tried upgrading the firmware or formatting the player?
Note that both option erases all contents on the player.
If both suggestions does not help, it's best to get in touch with support.

Zen Micro - Screen Displays "Firmware Probl

As an FYI for those with this issue.
Updated to the new beta firmware upon getting my Zen Micro. After having issues with Napster 2 Go, I got the service transferring the files to the Zen Micro. Listened to the files at night until I got the "Low Battery" message. Plugged it up to charge. Once fully charged, listend from about p til about 7p. The 5 minutes inactivity timer cut off the Zen Micro. Went to turn on the Zen Micro only to have the screen display, "Firmware Problem". I have rebooted, entered rescue mode and did a clean up and reboot, same error. I reloaded the firware to get back into the Zen Micro.

It would be worth trying a firmware upgrade, if you can, but it sounds like there might be a problem with the player.
I would advise you contact Customer Support directly for assistance.

Zen micro screen prob

ok well, i got my zen for christmas (this year) and i woke up this morning to use it so i turned it on and for some reasn the backlight comes on but nothng shows up on the screen! you can here the clicker when u move around the menus but cant see anything and when i press the play button i can still listen to music. anyone have any ideas of what i can do?

Zen micro screen une

Just purchased a zen micro....liking it alot....just have a minor problem...if you can call it that....more like an annoyance knowing the fact that it is there.
Well anyways....do any of you notice that the visible area (the area where the contrast is noticable) of the screen is kind of crooked or uneven? It kinda slants down to the right a bit. Like I said...not really a problem, but just wanted to know if anyone else is seeing this.

My player's fine. Perhaps yours has a manufacturing defect? The only way you're going to get it resolved is with a replacement player.

Zen Micro, Screen stuck on Creative logo, free

I was jogging recently and my Zen Micro fell off the pants clip i had on. When i picked my micro up off the ground the song i was listening to, was still playing, and played for another minute, before the micro shut off completely. It then would not turn on with the power button. So i removed the battery, and put it back in, and the micro came on, and the 'creative' logo was the only thing on my screen. With the logo on the screen, my micro wouldn't do anything, and just freezes. Anybody know how to resolve this predicament that im in? Or anybody have this happen to them, and know how to fix it's? I would appreciate any help i could get, Thank you in advance!

You can always try removing the battery and seeing if it reboots correctly, after you tried the Rescue Mode options.
The last option before sending the player in would be a firmware update.

"Ghost Lines" on the Zen Micro screen

I just noticed that my Zen Micro has "ghost lines" lines that extend past their dimensions (i.e. the volume box's lines extend past where they should) These lines are extremely faint, but if you look some what close you will see them.

Hi! The release notes for the .02.05 firmware version mentions "improves the look of the volume control bar".
The visual difference is very small. At first, I didn't even know what was different. But it hit me today that these ghost lines seem to be gone indeed.

my zen micro has hanged. there was prev some problems and it couldn't be detected by the computer. then when i plugged it into the usb port the mp3 started but got stuck at the song... hmm can it be something to do with the batt? i haven't changed it for a year plus

Ok, so I have a hugely unfortunate story.... My first Micro was boughten for me for my birthday by my girlfriend none the less... a month later it is stolen out of my backpack at school... in a place that was supposed to be safe... Come Christmas '05 She buys me another... this time I take amazing care of it, I make sure it is locked up, i even put a lock on my backpack.... but it wasnt stolen... it was spiked... thats right... in a huge confusing story a girl took it and threw it across the room after i had dropped hers about 3 inches on accident... and she refused to buy me a new one... soooo now i want to know how i can fix it or if there is a replacement possibility.... The only problem is that the screen doesnt show information, it lights up, and i can control volume, play, pause, change playlists and when i plug it into my computer it will still open and allow me to transfer music. Anyone know if i can have it fixed... possibly replaced?

try inserting a paper clip in tp the small hole on the left of the player. Holding down play at the same time. this accesses an advanced menu. try the reboot option. might fix your problem

Zen Micro screen doesn't wo

The music plays and the backlite lights up, but the lcd pixels aren't working.
I had a problem a couple of days ago where the lcd was messing up and looking real weird but after a while it sorted itself out. Now the lcd just doesn't work.

mugat2: Can you get into Rescue Mode? To access the Rescue Mode: remove the battery, hold the power switch to the "on" position and KEEP IT HELD TO "ON" while reinserting the battery.
If the screen is still blank doing this the player is faulty unfortunately.

nothing shows up on the screen no matter what i tried so far. it still plays to music, because its already was on a play list. everything else works, you just cant see anything on the screen what so ever. how do i fix this?

HELP!! MY Zen Micros broken AG

ok I got impatient waiting for replies on the other post...
My zen micro screen has gone blank, but the music still plays, this is the second time it has broken in the 2 weeks i've had it!! please can some one tell me how to fix this as i dont want to have to change it again and lose all the songs i've put on it......again!

firstly the mods dont like ppl starting multiple threads. as was advised to patrickz42 he should return the player to creative to get it fixed, by RMA (not sure what it stands for). then see if they can fix it. have you tried starting the player in rescue mode to try see if the screen ever works? not get to impatient as there dont seam to be many mods on now, atleast you'd normally have a message by SSR so just hang in there, and dont be suprised if this thread is deleated.

Zen Micro questions and concer

Hello, I've had my Zen Micro 5gb for about 2 /2 months now and while some of these problems have been around for a while I thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone else has these problems as well. First of all I have the new firmware ..0 installed it right after buying the player. Now for my concerns,
) I've noticed that I only get about 8ish hours of playback on a full charge (which is roughly about 2 hours to go from bar to full) volume between 0 and 5 and used for periods of usually an hour at a time. Most of the songs on the player are CD quality bit rate (28 is it's) and my question is, is this normal? The quoted time is up to 2 hours battery life.
2) I have the idle shutoff time set to 5 min of inactivity and the sleep timer at 30 min. The problem that I've found and I don't know if this is how it's supposed to be, which seems strange if it is, is that when I turn on the power (and is where I want it to be so I don't adjust it at all) it shuts off after 5 minutes which I find annoying. But, I've also found that even if I move through some screens and change the song and set it back in my pocket, it still shuts off after 5 minutes, only when I adjust the volume (I still need to test this to make sure that that's what it is) does it play for the full 30 min.
3) When the Micro starts up (while not on the 4hr standby there is?), so when it goes through the full Creative and Zen Micro screens at the startup there is a glitch where the "Zen Micro" screen stays on for up to a full 0 seconds and about 5 seconds into it there is a box halfway up the 'ZEN' where the letters don't show, I don't really know how else to explain it but I'll try "drawing it".

After about 5 seconds (it varies) it changes from the first to the second for about another 5 seconds. The only thing is, it does this every so often and is not consistent as to when it does it. The music starts playing while it's doing this as well. I'm also wondering if the Creative screen (without the copyright stuff) is supposed to last for a full 0 seconds like it seems to be now as that seems quite excessi've but I am not sure what the 'norm' is.
4) I've had it freeze on the "Shutting down..." screen but taking the battery out and replacing it seems to fix that, as others have discussed.

. The 2 hours is based on using the player playing 28kbit/s MP3s continuously. Anything you do to the player in terms of frequent skipping of tracks, higher bit-rate tracks, downloading/uploading etc. will shorten the battery life. See the FAQ post for lots on this.
2. Known bug.
3. It just seems to be some innocuous screen write bug. It doesn't seem to do any harm other than look naff.
4. Mine doesn't freeze on shutting down. Perhaps try a disk cleanup from rescue mode?

help! it comes on it goes through the process of coming on but it gets stuck when the Zen MIcro screen comes on...it won't show my music what should i do

Have you tried running the Clean-up Disk utility from the Recovery Menu? It can sometimes help when your player is having problems.
Remove the battery briefly and hold the ON switch to <i>on</i> [fully to the left] when you replace the battery.
That will bring up the Recovery Menu.
I'd try:
?Clean Up first, and then Reboot
If that doesn't work, try these options:
?Format [<i>note you will lose all your tracks/photos/data, etc if you format, so make sure you've got copies of the files you want to keep!</i>]
?Reload Firmware as a last resort.
If none of those work, contact Customer Support.

Blue spots on Zen Micro scr

Recently, a number of blue spots have appeared on my Zen Micro screen. These spots are there even when the player is off, and they're all clustered around the center of the screen. Any idea what they may be, or how to get rid of them?

If they appear even when the screen is off, then it sounds like something is physically under the screen, like bits of dirt or dust. Make sure it's not something that's just stuck to the front by wiping it with a cloth.
