Zen Micro: Selecting Japanese Radio B

Hello,
how do I select the Japanese frequency band for the FM radio on a Zen Micro? I cannot find any setting to do it.
Regards,
Dirk

If I recall correctly, this was removed from the later firmware. I'm not sure if you have to use an Asian firmware now to access the correct FM band...

• ZEN Micro Photo FM RADIO MO

Hello,
sorry for my englisch! It is not so good!
I bought the ZEN Micro Photo Player and I have tried the FM radio Modus.
It is very bad! Everytime i hear some crackle! Whatever position i try i hear the crackle!
Someone know what the problem is? It's a great pity, because everything else is good!
Thank you for a answer

You can change your 'theme' in display settings> theme and this will give you a range of colours in FM radio mode. FM radio will usually sound better outdoors. Check battery power also. If it is still really bad, contact customer support.

• Zen Micro - Listen to radio whilst charging through USB cab

'Lo all, as title, I'm at work just now, my battery is flat and I'd like to listen to the radio while my Zen charges, can I do this somehow?
TIA

Internet Explorer (this includes going through files), Windows Media Player and Zen Media Explorer will cause the player to be in docked mode. Make sure you're not in any of these and you should be able listen to music while charging.

• Power switch on Zen Micro not working. Hold works, though. It turns on if I plug it

I was given my friend's Zen Micro because it was broken.
So I opened it up and managed to fix it...but it only turns on when I plug it in to the PC.
I can switch the hold button across and it holds (the padlock shows up on screen), but I can't actually switch it on or off at all.
To turn it off I have to wait 'till it idles out.
And to turn it on... I have to plug it in, like I said.
What could I do to fix it's The switch looks normal on the circuit board...but I can't help but think that something inside the switch has become disconnected...but it's a bit too small to actually take apart.
The only alternati've I can think of is to buy a wired remote...but that's my last resort.

OK, your Zen Micro worked with your older computer, correct?
Was your older computer an XP machine or an earlier version of Windows?
As far as I know, XP requires the PlaysForSure firmware to work with your Zen Micro. You need Service Pack 2 and Windows Media Player 0 too.
You can find the drivers, firmware and software that you need by clicking the Support menu on the Creative banner at the top of the page-> Downloads->MP3 Players-> Zen-> Zen Micro, select your language and Operating System and then the drivers, firmware and software that you need.
Be sure to click the Show Details... pop-up for more information and instructions.

I've just changed to Vista and can't seem to install my Micro software. I've tried downloading from the Creative site, but keep getting an error when trying to install files. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

• Is zen micro meant to work with radio transmitters like the iTr

just wondering if the zen is meant to work with uni'versal radio transmitters like the iTrip or the belkin unit... i can't seem to find an accessory offered by Creative that does the same thing... please help

thanks for the replies =)
the reason i asked was because i used the tunecast with a cheapo no-brand mp3 player and it worked perfectly, but when i tried it out with my creative zen micro it wouldn't work... a new pair of AAA batteries fixed the problem though =) the old ones were still lighting up the little LED, but not powering the unit enough to transmit to the stereo...

• Petition: Zen Micro's "Standby" time length to be user selecta

Currently, when you turn your Zen Micro off, it actually goes into "Standby" mode. The Zen Micro stays in a "Standby" ready state for 24 hour from the last time it was turned off. After 24 hours, the Zen Micro goes into a "Deep Sleep" mode.
"Standby" uses considerably more power from the Zen Micro's battery than "Deep Sleep" mode does. The difference between the two modes is that your Micro will be ready to use almost instanty if turned on from "Standby" and will take approximately 5 seconds to be ready to use if turned on from "Deep Sleep".
This petition is for a user selectable menu item to be added to the Zen Micro's "System/Player Settings" menu to adjust "Standby" - anywhere from a setting of "off" to "24" hours in whatever increments Creative feels are appropriate with 24 hours as default.
If this option were implemented, those who did not mind waiting 5 second for their Micro to be ready to play music would find their batteries last longer if leaving the Micro idle for some time because it would not be draining power in "Standby". Those who use the Zen Micro often, could leave "Standby" at 24 hours, so the player would be ready immediately for them. It's a win-win option.
Please note, this petition isn't a discussion thread - it's simply to show Creative if there is interest from Zen Micro owners for such an option being added to a future firmware update from Creative.

Thank-you everyone and please keep them coming!JazzMC has taken the initiati've and written a sort of FAQ with all the information to date gathered in one place regarding this power drain of the Zen Micro while off (in standby). It's a great read for those who want more information about the subject and you can view the document by clicking here: Zen Micro Power Loss. • Creating Playlist On Zen Micro - Adds Entire Album, Not Selected S

I'm attempting to create a playlist while in my Zen Micro. I have a song playing and go to the song and select "Save as Playlist", and I assign it a name. When I go look at the playlist it has included the entire album in the playlist, not just the selected song. Is there any way of adding single tracks rather than entire albums (other than creating them externally using Creative's software)?
Thanks....

You have to go to the main menu, select Now Playing, a song should show there, then use the bottom right hand option button (right click) and there should be a selection to clear all from Now Playing. I don't have my Zen Micro here with me so I can't tell you exactly what it says in the menu. Once you have done that you can create a play list and individually add songs to it as above. I did this before the gym yesterday and it worked nicely.Message Edited by bhype23 on 0-9-2005 09:36 PM

• Zen Micro, FM Radio, Backup/Edit presets on P

Here is my question : is there a way to backup and edit radio presets on my PC ?
Let's say you named all your 32 presets on your Zen Micro and now you must format your device. Then you need to backup your radio presets on your PC in order to reload them onto your Zen after formatting.
And because it is not that easy to name the presets using the Zen Micro, it would be very usefull to be able to edit presets directly on a PC before transfering them to the audio device.
Is there any existing solutions ?
Is there going to be one ?
Thank you for any help.

a solution like you describe has been suggested before by users, but I'm unaware of any solution available today. :-(
Note, I'm not sure whether a Reformat erases you radio presets, but I do know that a "disc cleanup" (from the rescue mode menu) erases them (somewhat surprisingly, given the name of the action).

• Zen Micro, FM Radio thru

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to attach the Zen Micro to your PC and have it play FM radio over USB and through the computer speakers. I know it is possible to do so with the mp3's on the Zen. I believe this would be extremely handy, especially for me.

just a straight stereo patch cable (like with the headphone jack on both ends)...from your player to the line in jack on your sound card. they are like 5 bucks at radio shackMessage Edited by flyer608 on 02-07-2005 2:50 AM

I just tried with some headphones I have that have an extension wire. I removed the wire so the headphones themselves only have abour 30cm of cable. I actually got a reasonable reception, but I am in the middle of a large city. With the bluetooth headset I guess it's going to depend on exactly how much cable there is, not much presumably, and the strength of local stations.

• Zen micro radio reception & headpho

Quick question for anyone. I currently have the Zen micro & I am looking to get a new pair of headphones. The one that came with it don't really fit my ears! I had heard at one time (I thought) that the headphones that came with it have the antenna built into for the radio reception. Is this true or false? If it's true do all of Creative's headphones have the antenna built into it's If not, will any headphones due?
Thanks for any help!!

any headphones will do...the wires of the headphones act as the antenna..

I've also experienced exactly the same problem with my Zen Micro. I have been emailing Creative support to see if they can help finding a solution or fix in getting it back but everything they suggested don't seem to work =(

• Zen Micro radio prob

My Zen Micros radio doesn't work at all. When I try to listen to it there is no sound at all. Does anybody know why?

Just a thought - have you tried tapping the play/pause button to take it out of the "presets" mode? Mine is perfectly silent when in preset mode with no preset set. Tapping the pause button allows you to toggle to scan or tune via the forward/back buttons.

• Zen Micro Radio Recept

I have a zen micro, and I have to say I love it. I get almost 4 hours out of the batteries. I have had no problems whatsoever. My only thing is the radio reception. I know that it generally sucks, but I made a discovery last night. With any headphones I used, the reception was bad. When I plugged a Bose headphones extender into it the receptio jumped to almost perfect. It would seem that the reception is directly related to the length of the headphone cord. Has anyone else expireinced this?

I love in vancouver Canada, and im using the stock creative headphones and i so far have had no problem with the radio what so ever. although the sound does become fuzzy if i go into lower levels of the mall but that is just a minor thing to me.
