Zen micro software probl

Hi I just bought a zen micro the other day I hooked it up to my PC and installed the software and it worked fine the I went to the creative site and updated the firmware but didnt realise that it would stop me from being able to use creatives programs and only let me use windows media player I scanned through the forum and found this to be a common problem and the main solution was to down grade the firmware which I tried to do but when I tried it was coming up player not connected.
What do I do I hate media player can anyone help PLEASE

Hi tried all those options but managed to downgrade the firmware by deleting the drivers on the pc and the pluging the zen back in and as the pc started detecting it and installing it I ran the firmware program so it just started as the unit was fully installed as the creative zen and not what windows identifies it as and it worked hope that made sense because at that point i was just trying anything.
Thanks again for the help.
P.S dont know if any one knows but I bought my Zen out of the county and it has the wrong pin plug bit now I know it will work voltage wise but it would be nice to get the right pin adapter as they are interchangable.

• Zen Micro software request

I've lost the original install disc for a regular 4 Gb Micro and can't find the needed dowload on the Creative site. I searched the forum and the once hosted links are no longer there. Anyone have this? I can't add any music or playlists without it. Thx.

Re: Zen Micro software requestFWell lucky you The one thing you will need to do with the XP computer is to rollback WMP to WMP0. Instructions for that are?here? after you have done that download to your desktop this here? firmware & install it to the Micro be sure that the players battery has been fully charged before you you update the firmware. Also the update will erase all music files from the player so back them up on the XP computer if you don't have copies of them. You will then be able to use your Micro on the Vista computer with just WMP no additional software needed.

• Zen micro software - sort

I'm uploading large files, including only digets in them, for example
00
023
03
033
why doesn't the zen micro software sort them automaticly?

I have renamed the thread so the title is more descripti've (and not flaming).
Can you be more specific, with regards to your question? Are they music tracks, and you want them sorted in order? If they have the same album name they will be listed together, just make sure the song number is in the ID3 tag aswell.

• Windows Vista vs Zen Micro: Software Problems

Hey guys,
Looking for a little help and this seems to be the right place to get, lots of helpful people!I have a 3 year old Zen Micro, 4/5Gb I think and it worked fine with my old Dell laptop which ran XP, I used to drag and drop mpg files easily with the bundled software, all was well. Back in January the Dell laptop reached the end of it's life and I layed my hands on a new Sony Vaio laptop, running the all singing, all dancing brand new shiney Windows Vista. For whatever reason, I had no need for the MP3 player for most of this this summer and now I've come to need it again and it obviously needs updating (all my music is 6 months out of date) and it seems I've lost the original software disc, bummer. So I downloaded the ZenCast Organiser & Sync software off the Creative site as it said it ran withVista and plug in the Micro and .........nothing.
The Sync manager thing just says that there's no player attatched and it won't hook up. Am I missing something? Do I need another driver for it'sor something I've had a look through this site and all. I seem to be able to find is what I've already downloaded. Help!

MiniMan64 wrote:
ow stupid is this though! Why aren't Creative releasing any updates to allow older players to work on new machines?!
Well they are releasing updates, the trouble is you need the old OS to apply them. I suspect there's technical reasons for updates not working on newer OS's. After all Creative couldn't anticipate Vista problems when making older devices (Vista wouldn't have been on hand to test at the time).
BTW Firmware upgrades can be found here (UK version)
or here. (US)

• Autoplay error. Please help- my(Zen Micro) software won't lo

I have a 5GB Zen Micro and when I try to install my software I get the "Utility for Windows AutoPlay screen has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." message.
I'm running XP and have updated Quicktime (that did the trick last time).
Can anyone help? I'm sorry, I did try to go through the FAQ but I didn't see anything and I'm trying to feed my kid and pack for a trip.
Thanks!
Melly

I don't think so but I can't check right now-- I'm on a different computer.
I had the software installed and had to delete it to make space for something. Now I wish I'd never touched it!

• Zen Micro sync proble

Hi,I?formated my pc and installed all creative software as usuall but i cant sync my music from my mp3 player to my pc.. I tryed by dragging the files through "Organize music in device" button, but when i dragged the .mp3's the pc was "busy" but nothing came out.. Then i tryed the "Sync music between pc and device" button, this way was good but in the end i saw that i was transfering file with errors?with no weight.. Well thats my problem, now i got no music files on my pc.. but i still can hear them by connecting my player. So if someone got any suggestion, feel free to post.. Thank's

Again, you have to be a little more specific.
You tried doing what? When and how did it fail?
You said earlier that you could change some songs, now you can't do even that?
Have you changed sth with your player (firmware is what comes to mind).
Did you tried uninstalling all Creative programs, rebooting downloading the LATEST versions of the programs and then installing those instead?
BTW, it DOES matter which firmware version your player has:
If it is .xx.xx (eg ..0) then you should download and install THE LATEST versions of:
Zen and Jukebox Driver (v.30.03)
Zen Micro Media Explorer (v4.00.27)
MediaSource Player-Organizer (v3.30.2)
AND
Jukebox plugin (v2.00.20) for MediaSource
If it is 2.xx.xx (eg 2.2.02) then you should install Windows Media Player 0 along with ALL the latest hotixes from microsoft.
If when by fail you mean that it worked ok for your friend but when you got back it didn't for you then it DEFINITELY means that there's a problem with your PC, not the player...
If this don't help ask again anything.

• Problem with Creative Zen Micro software detecting certain C

Hi,
I hope someone can help me. I recently purchased a Creative Zen Micro MP3 player. So far, I have very few complaints, apart from the fact that while travelling on the bus, it won't seem to detect any radio stations.
The problem re: the software though is that it will only detect the last track on three of my CD's. None of these CD's are damaged in any way, but all are from the same record label. Anyway, I was wondering if anybody had any tips on how I might be able to transfer these albums onto my player?
Thanks a lot.

My zen micro problem:
Brief Problem description :.When I put a battery in the Zen micro, it automaticly turn on andshow "hardware problem" and freezed.2. If I connect to power adapter, i it automaticly turn on and show"hardware problem" and freezed.3. If I connect to my computer via usb cable, my computer can not findthe player and the player do not turn on even I switch on. As long asI put the battery in it, it automaticly turn on and show "hardwareproblem" and freezed. My computer still can not find it. I'm sure thecomputer and usb cable is working because all of my other device isworking ( include mouse, keyboard, logitech web camera, canon digitalcamera, samsung 52MB mp3). I try to take off all of theother usb equipements and the zen micro still not work. I can not rewrite the firmware because the zen micro freezed at"hardware problem" and my computer can not find it.
Help!!!!!!

• Zen Micro Software/Driver Confli

Does anyone know if there are any known software that will conflict with the drivers of the Zen Micro to make it not be recognized.
I know its not a USB issue, as the player will say its docked, then flash back to the music menu screen. I know the player is not faulty, as its functions all work when not plugged in. I've been able to plug the Micro in once in awhile and it was recognized and Media Explorer recognized it, so that removes hardware issues, which leads me to believe, software conflicts.

Try using MSCONFIG to reboot in a diagnostic startup. This should only load the basic software.

• Zen Micro Software Requi

I lost my software cd, I realize that you can download the files from the downloads section of the website. Which exact files should I donwload and in what order do I install them? I need specifics.

fizban9: Don't forget the drivers as well.
Basically you want to install the drivers first, currently Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03.
Then you want to install MediaSource, but you'll need to connect your player first as MediaSource will want it as part of the install. For MediaSource the latest version is Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2. Once that's installed you'll also need the plugin, to make sure the PC can see your player, Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource.
As mentioned, if you want the CD burning facilities you need Creative MediaSource Plugin for CD Burner 3.0.8. I'm not sure if this works without a previous install, but Micromouse should be able to confirm this.
If you are using the v2 MTP firmware you also need this update, Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8).
If you want Zen Micro Media Explorer then you need to grab the Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update.
So in summary:
. Drivers - Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03
2. MediaSource - Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2, Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource, Creative MediaSource Plugin for CD Burner 3.0.8 and Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8) if you have the v2 firmware.
3. ZMME - Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update

• Zen Micro USB proble

Okay, I have this problem, and I have looked through all the topics, and found problems similar to mine, but the answers are just unclear to me. I guess you could say I am bad with technology, so I don't understand a lot of things.. So if you could help me, and maybe explain everything simply, I would greatly, GREATLY, appreciate it.
Okay, I just got the Zen Micro today, and I installed everything. When I connected the Zen to the USB cord however, a little pop up in the bottom right-hand corner of my screen appeared. It said, " A HI-SPEED USB device is plugged into a non-HI-SPEED USB hub."
I have no idea what this means, or HOW I can fix this.
ALSO.. When I try to download the playforsure software.. A little pop appears again, saying, " Easy Start CD requires Service Pack or later to install on Windows XP. "
Once again, what is the Service Pack and where do I get this?
Heh.. Thank you so much for at least reading this, I appreciate it.

. It sounds like you don't have a USB2 port on your computer. The Zen should still transfer files, just a lot slower. You can get a USB @ card installed for not too much money. It's quite simple to do.
2. Service Pack & 2 are updates for Windows XP. You can get them at Windows Update.

• Zen micro installation probl

Hi guys...
after installing CD software , I reset my PC, and when then I plug the Zen Micro I always get an ask from Win ( whatever 2000 or 98 ) to install drivers... I'm maybe doing anything wrong?

It shouldn't make any difference whether USB or 2. I'm not sure where the drivers are unpacked to (I'm having a similar discussion in another thread) but for the earlier Zens it was C:\Program Files\Creative\Jukebox 3 Drivers. You could check there, and if it exists do a manual update. Failing that do a search in the C:\Program Files\Creative directory for *. INF and then try pointing the driver update to any directories it finds.
It might be there's another problem though if this player is working and being installed on other PCs, but not this one.

• Zen Micro switch probl

I've had my Zen Micro for a while now, it was problem free, and I was quite satisfied in it's preformance, but suddenly it's been plagued with a major problem. I can't turn it on without removing the battery and putting it back in, and the only way to shut it down is to wait for the idle shutdown. The switch will move into hold mode, and will (after several thousand attempts) turn on every once in a blue moon. I would send it in, but it's now out of warranty.
I would be happy to send it in somewhere for repair, but I don't know where. Any thoughts or fixes?
Thanks,
Andrew

Thank you guys. Of course getting the update in was an adventure. Here is what I did.
. Asked my son if he had updated firmware / software - of course he had.
2. Tried the Micro on his laptop to see if it worked there - it did
3. Removed all Creative SW, downloaded new SW
3. Tried to install the SW - did not work as it wanted a connected Micro and since mine could not be seen.
4. Installed all the Creative SW from CD
5. Then tried to install the update. Again was asked to make sure the Micro was connected and powered on, did this hoping for the best (see 3 above). It worked
6. Am now transferring files.
Thanks a lot, I am looking forward to using this little toy.

• Zen micro upload probl

just got a zen micro and the zen micro explorer or media source doesn't see it. I've got windows 2000 and installed the legacy OS driver. I can see the zen micro from windows media player 9 and also from notmad, I tried uploading musing with windows media player but all the songs end up in alphabetical order instead of the track order of the albums. I also downloaded the web update to the zen micro explorer and it won't install because it doesn't recognize the zen micro as being connected. how can I get the explorere and media source to work?

hendershot,
If you're using the PlayForSure firmware for the player, the only software working with it will be WMP9. MediaSource and the Media Explorer won't work with the OS with that firmware. Others may be able to recommend you other 3rd-party software if there's any.
If you wish to use Media Explorer and MediaSource on Windows 2000, I would suggest changing the player firmware back to version .xx.xx

• Zen Micro Software Upgrade Confl

I posted in another thread, but thought this board supported BBCode, so my other post is rather jumbled.
I received my Zen Micro earlier this week, played with it a bit, and decided I would like to continue using it without MTP. But I would like the latest firmware.
My current firmware is .02.05, and I am using Zen Media Explorer 4.00.22 - these came on the CD with my Micro.
On the Creative support page, I selected the "Step by Step" Micro Firmware Upgrade Instructions, and continued answering "NO" to "Would you like to Use Online Subscription Services". The firmware version I want is clear enough: ..0. But the software is not clear at all. First I am taken to a page which says I need the following:
Zen Micro Media Explorer 4.00.8
Sync Manager 4.00.5
Jukebox Type Plugin 2.00.07
When I click on the download link for the above, I am taken to a download page for ZENM_PCAPP_LB_MTP_PDE.exe. This contains different versions than the previous page said that it would:
Zen Micro Media Explorer 4.00.27
Sync Manager 4.60.0
Import Wizard .60.2
CD Ripping Wizard .60.09
So which is correct? With all the firmware upgrade problems I see, I sure want to make sure ahead of time that I am downloading and installing the correct files.
A call yesterday to Creative got me less help than my 2 year old could provide!
Thanks.Message Edited by J-Mac on 0-09-2005 :39 PM

Choose Support > Downloads from your local Creative site's main menu, then follow the instructions. Or you can use the international site, http://www.nomadworld.com/downloads/drivers/ . You're looking for the ..0 firmware download--not ZMME, MediaSource, or anything else.
What you were directed to is indeed the newest versions--but of Creative software, not the firmware itself. The tutorial you went through is more aimed at those upgrading to 2.x (MTP/Janus) firmware; they have to replace their ZMME, install a new MediaSource plug-in, and make other changes to their Creative software when upgrading.
Changing firmware from .02.05 to ..0 should not require new Creative software; indeed, it's one of the easiest firmware upgrades possible for the Micro. Most Micro upgrade issues you see here involve those who switch to 2.x firmware, but fail to download the required Creative software upgrades. You probably won't even lose your music files (which would happen if you chose 2.x firmware).
