Zen Micro sort of being recogni

Hello,
Its been quite a while since I've been on the forums because my Zen has been running very smoothly, but I've been experiencing some connection issues on a copmuter lately.
I'm using 2.2.02 firmware and when I connect the player to my computer windows pops up with the little message asking me what I want to do with my MTP player. The problem is that no program recognises it. Creative Sync Manager cant detect it, WMP 0 can't detect it (actually comes up with an unknown error when I switch to the sync tab, even with no media player connected. The error is:
"Windows Media Player encountered an unknown error. This can occur when another program or operating system component encounters a problem but does not communicate the nature of the problem to Windows Media Player.
Error ID = 0xC00DCD, Condition ID = 0x00000000"), and I can't access the player as a hard-dri've-ish device in Windows Explorer. I know this isnt a hardware problem as my player works fine on my brothers computer. I only noticed this problem recently but hadn't sync'd with my Zen Micro for about a month.
I've tried to unistall/reinstall WMP 0, the Windows XP MTP driver and all creative products and nothing has really changed it.

ubu wrote:I am dealing with the very same situtation. My Zen Micro won't install. Windows has never seen it, and Creative hasn't emailed me back from my support request. I really like the player, but it appears that this is a problem that has been around for a while, and it's not getting fixed. So it looks like it will be returned to the store and another brand bought.Jamie
What operating system are you running? What firmware version on your Micro? And do you have a service pack (if you have v2 firmware on your Micro).

  • Creative Zen Micro 4GB isn't recognized on my PC

    Hello,
I bought a Creative Zen Micro 4GB?couple of years ago (3-4 years ago) and lost it year ago. I found it now and wanted to start using it but I have a problem. I bought a new laptop which is Vista and my pc doesn't recognize the player when I plug it in. It recognizes it and the bubble comes up at the tray, but it doesnt recognize it and says it can't find the driver and that I need to install the driver. However, since my pc can't recognize it, I can't install a driver or do anything with it since it isn't recognized by my pc. I read lots of posts and solutions to them, but none of them help my problem. In the device manager, it is apperead with a yellow explanation mark but I can't reinstall the driver. I also tried the cleanup and reboot but that also didn't work. Can anyone help me? (I also tried this on my old pc which has XP but it had the same problem.) My Pc is Windows Vist 32-Bit Operating System and Service Pack . By the way, when i plug in my zen micro, the window comes saying 'found new hardware' and I am suposed to locate a place for the dri've and it says i should insert the disc that came with it. However, when i insert it nothing happens and in the end it says it failed. I really need urgent help. Thank you in advance already.

  • My Zen Micro is not being detec

I did everything that the instructions that came with my Micro said to.
I charged it, I installed the software.
After re-starting, I connected the player and the only thing that has happened is that the player turns on. It doesn't say it's docked, doesn't say it's connected, it just turns on.
If I go to the Zen Micro Media Explorer, it says that the device is not connected. I've uninstalled and re-installed the software, and I get the same thing. I've unplugged every possible device from the USB ports and have tried various ports, and it still wont connect with the **bleep** thing.
What is going on and how do I get this freaking thing to work?

I'm kind of an idiot as far as it comes to computers.
Why would trying another computer make a difference? What's the point in that? Shouldn't it work on ANY computer?
Yeah, I want to go to someone else's house each time I want to use this thing.
I realize I'm being silly, but I'm not stupid. When the advice of "try it at someone else's house" comes up, that tells me that I'm not dealing with a thoroughly tested product.
That's beta testing in the field, my friend.

  • Zen Micro- drivers aren't recognized, won't install.. HEL

I have a 5gb Zen Micro. I've installed the software straight from the disk and everything installs just fine but, when I go to the organizer, it says that the device is not hooked up. Also, when I go to the hardware wizard, it says that the device is not working properly and that it can't be started. I've tried to update and/or reinstall the drivers, but to no avail. The Creative web site had an updated driver, but that didn't help either.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks for reading!!

I tried to use the Micro with Media Player 0, but it required a firmware update. When I went to update the firmware, it said that it would only work with XP w/SP. I'm running W2K Pro. I didn't think it would be an issue, but I may have been completely wrong. So, it seems as if the best thing to do is install XP Home or Pro. My assumption is that not only will the problem with the Zen be fixed, but I'll have more options overall for media, etc. Thoughts?

  • ZEN 16 Gig not being recognized by comput

Hey, I recieved my ZEN in the mail from Amazon today, installed the software like the instructions said, and plugged in my player, and that's when problems started. The thing is charging, so it's not the cable or anything of that sort, but updates fail to install on it, my computer doesn't recognize that it's there, so I can't add anything to my library, or register/install updates. I'm running Vista Home Premium on a cheap laptop HP setup. I had kept automatic updates on the down low, but figured that might have been a problem, so installed everything that would have been helpful. Didn't change anything to the predicament. The MP3 recovery tool, whenever it's run just says that I need to use XP/Vista to run it (even though I clearly am running Vista), and will not run.
I skimmed through the FAQs and the first page or two, didn't see anything that detailed the same problem. I'm not sure if its my computer or my player, it might be the computer since it's had issues reading CDs or anything external lately. But it normally will end up working anyway with other things. Any help would be so appreciated.

Yeah it's for XP, sorry I should've mentioned, though I imagine that there will be a one for Vista (try emailing the Customer Support people).
It seems that it's just the luck of the draw, because I tried the ZEN on my girlfriend's laptop and it just worked, simple as chi
    ps.
On a side issue, the firmware upgrade is worth installing once you can actually get it going. The main fix I've noticed is that the 'back' button now takes you back through the chronology of the folders as oppose to literally the last screen you were looking at (which can get somewhat frustrating when you are looking at the the album tracks and you want to go up a level to look at the albums, but it instead takes you back to the 'Now Playing' screen!)... anyway, I went off on a bit of a tangent there.
Creative need to resolve these pitiful issues out - I can see less willed customer's just giving up and jumping back onto the Apple bandwagon. This is the first Creative product I've had (I was an iRi'ver man before), but I've been left a little deflated from my first impression, it seems like they've rushed the product out to get it in the shops before Christmas. Thankfully the product itself is good enough to pull me round.

  • Zen Micro MTP not recognized? Solution in he

So, after scouring the forums here and Google in search for a reason why my MTP enabled Zen Micro wasn't being recognized in a fresh WinXP install. Well here's the solution everybody.
    Try installing this:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;8922
I noticed that the player isn't recognized by drivers from the net or the Zen Micro CD (They're both the same anyways). The reason why is because the Device ID for the Zen Micro with the MTP firmware is different (USB\VID_04E&PID_430\00525530038FF3). If you open up the .inf file used to install this player, the Device ID is not in there.
I had another XP install on another HDD which recognized the Zen Micro and noticed that only a single file was being used for the drivers: wpdusb.sys.A search on Google brought me to the Microsoft KB page. I installed that patch and poof instant recognition.
I also believe this issue could be resolved if you install the latest Windows Media Player 0 available. I had it installed, but somehow that file wasn't installed and the update provided it for me.
    I hope this helps somebody~! =)

The only other suggestion to what the problem could be is a a software conflict of the driver and current software on your system that is interferring with the recognizing of your player. I had the same problem happen, and I tried my Micro on three different computers, and the Micro worked, instantly, and my Zen use to work on my computer before an upgrade.
Somewhere in between of any other updates of software on the computer, there must be a conflict. My player will become recognizable once in a blue moon, which also leads to the conclusion of software conflict, or possibly IRQ issue.
Maybe the latest driver just released may fix the issues of eliminating if it doesn't cause any conflicts with other softwares that are on your system for your Micro to be recognized.

  • Creative Zen Micro Not compatible with Windows Vi

My daughter has a Creative Zen Micro MP3 player, no video feature, just the the music player. She recently got a new computer that runs Windows Vista. She tried to install the program on her new computer, and it said the software was not compatible with Windows Vista. Does that mean I need to get new software from Creative Zen? to use the program on The computer running?Windows Vista? Any help would be appreciated..

The software that came on the original CD is not supported on vista.
The Zen Micro will work nati'vely with Vista if it contains the latest firmware version. If the Zen Micro isn't being recognized by Vista then you will need to use an older system (windows xp) to upgrade the firmware on the Zen Micro. Once Vista recognizes the Zen Micro you should be able to download Vista compatable versions of the software for the device from the creative website.

  • Zen Micro Freezes when I plug in USB cable+USB not recognized at ti

Ok, I know you, the reader, has heard this complaint posted over and over on the Creative forums, and you would probably tell me to SEARCH THE FORUMS. Well, I did, and I found no answer or solution to my problems. So..here goes nothing.
I recently purchased a Black 5gb Creative Zen Micro, I was really content and happy with it...that is until I plugged it into my USB 2.0 Card. The moment I do that (I've tried plugging it in into every USB 2.0 slot, and NO, this isn't a hub, but a PCI card), The Zen Micro freezes! I have to resolve this by removing the cover and taking out the battery, then reinserting the battery. At the same time my Zen Micro freezes, a little bubble pops up on my computer screen saying "USB Device Not Recognized". I'm going absolutely out of my mind here, and am on the verge of returning the Zen Micro, and might get a replacement, and if that doesn't work, just returning the Zen altogether for a refund and getting a Rio Carbon. I really like the Zen, so PLEASE PLEASE help me out here!
Things I've Tried That Did Not Work:
-Uninstall/Reinstalling Zen Explorer, Mediasource (basically everything on CD)
-Updating the drivers for Zen Micro found on Nomadness.net
    -Updating Firmware for Zen Micro
-Going into rescue mode and cleaning up, Formatting, reloading firmware, and rebooting.
-Trying the USB 2.0 Card in different PCI Slots
-Rotating the order in which I connect the USB cable to Zen Micro and PC
-Uninstalling/Reinstalling the drivers, even when the Zen Micro pops up as "Unknown Device"
    -Reading tips/hints on Nomadness.net
I have scoured the forums, and have not found anything useful or new. I know its not the USB 2.0 Card's problem, since I plugged in my USB mouse into all the ports on the USB Card, and it worked fine.
Note: When I plug the USB cable that came with the Zen Micro into the integrated USB slots on the motherboard (USB .), it at times, does work, but even then, not a high chance of it happening. Even if I do successfully connect the Zen to a USB . slot without it freezing up, the Zen ends up not being detected by any program, like Window Media Player, Mediasource, or Creative Zen Micro Explorer.
I am going out this weekend and am gonna try to buy a new USB Cable, and if that doesn't work, returning the cable, and returning the Zen Micro to be replaced. AND IF THAT DOES NOT WORK...GOODBYE CREATIVE! HELLO RIO! But please, any help you guys could give would be greatly appreciated. I will also try to contact Creative Customer Support, but I doubt they'll tell me anything new, if I could even connect to them without being put on hold.
    System Specs:
    Windows XP Professional SP2
    Creative Zen Micro Firmware .02.05
    USB 2.0

Yep, that's exactly my issues to.....no matter what I've done, including replacing the USB 2.0 card which WAS and Adaptec DuoConnect 2.0 card which works fine with every other USB device ever connected to it, the Zen Micro 6g is NOT recognized by Creative Media Source or WMP. It is only recognized by the PC in Device Manager, and it has a yellow marker on it, which tells me the drivers are not installed. I know I don't need the drivers installed, but even after installing them, it tells me the drivers are not installed.
However, the answer is: it's definitely not the Micro, since it works flawlessly on my other PC and on my Toshiba notebook. So, it's some compatibility issue on that one PC. Since I refuse to let things be, I am reformatting that PC, reinstalling from scratch with WinXP and sp2. This PC has WinXP Pro but it has other issues so a reformat is in order anyway. Hopefully, this will resolve the issues. If not, then I say it's incompatibility with the Intel 865Perl m.b. But I'm at a loss as to why it won't work when plugged into the Adaptec card too.

  • Zen micro not recognized.. reform

so my zen micro is no longer recognized by my pc at home or at work..
i have firmware .0.03 installed from nomadworld and everythings been working fine for weeks. the player still works (music) but the removeable disk doesn't (not recognized by pc). is it worth it to go into rescue mode and reformat the whole thing? i don't want to lose all of my music (its backed up on my pc) and still not have my device be recognized
    yelp!

    Jess,
The PlayForSure firmware is intended to work with Windows XP platform. If you're going to work with other OS, I would suggest you to reload the firmware to the other firmware version .xx.xx. You can find this firmware from the download page too. Note that you need to perform this update process on your XP computer.

  • Zen Micro PC Recognize prob

I have had this micro since early dec (second one, the first one died after a week) and there have been no problems. As of Yesterday, my zen micro is only being detected for a second on my PC. When I plug my zm in to the USB cable, I get the recognition popup. When the creative organizer comes up, it says "player not connected" (or something close). When I try and use the Zen Micro Media Explorer, the software says "the device is not connected".
I currently have 2 players (one for me, one for wife), and my player is detected with no problems. So this must be a device issue, since the software and drivers are working fine with my player, but not my wifes.
Anybody have any ideas? I am stumped.

    Just a follow up:
My wifes player would not get recognized on my PC (Windows ME). It had working fine (along with mine) and then one day, her player stopped being recognized by our PC. I tried it about 00 times. Didnt make sense, but figured there must be a problem with her player, especially since my player worked fine this whole time. I had also seen this problem on the message board.
This week, I reinstalled all the software (drivers and creative music center), and when I plugged her player in, its now being recognized. Very strange. Dont know if it was the reinstall or just luck. Either way, its working now.
Couple of days ago, my player did the same thing (not recognized), but when I plugged it into my XP laptop, it worked fine. Then took it back to the ME machine and it worked fine. I tried it at work (2000) and it works fine.
Just an FYI, thought maybe somebody else has had similar experiences.

  • Just got my zen micro, scratched battery co

    Hi folks,
Ive just got my zen micro, despite it being brand new and being shrink wrapped, the back battery cover is covered in hairline scratches (you can only see them in a certain light) however its driving me nuts as im very fussy about these things
is there anywhere i can get a replacement? i rang support and the guy was like no! he didnt seem to care my apparently brand new micro looked damaged?
Also i find the sound quality poor on some mp3s, a bit 'scratchy' i suppose and they sound perfect on my pc?

    Catherina,
Thank you for the swift response i appreciate it, re the sound quality its probably just the mp3s maybe and i will look into your suggestions, thank you
regarding the player, i bought it in the O2 experience on Grafton street, they wont replace it for the scratches as they say, rightly i suppose, that i could have scratched between thursday and today.
Im sure i havent tho as i never out anything like that in a pocket with anything else, and i noticed the scratches straight away.
Its odd as the rest of the player is immaculate as it should be but the battery cover looks quite worn.
If you could organise a replacement id be eternally grateful im living in dublin (as your profile seems to suggest that you do aswell)
I know its a silly thing to get worked up over but its bugging me!
(u are correct, its just the bit that slides on the back)

  • Zen Micro Photo not working with new XP SP2 install

Okay so my Zen Micro Photo stopped being recognised on my computer about ten months ago when I upgraded to WMP (for BBC iPlayer - it's compulsory to have it). Anyway I li'ved with this and have now got thoroughly sick of the same songs and nothing new so I have done a fresh install (on a brand new hard dri've) of Windows XP SP2 WMP9 with the sole intention of using this install/hard dri've?for the player. I used the original installation disk and it prompted me to upgrade to WMP0 as I installed everything. There were no errors during the install and I rebooted when prompted to.
When I attach the player it is recognised by the machine (task bar icon and correctly labelled in System > Hardware > Device Manager which reports it to be?working okay) but the Creative media software says "player not attached" when it is. It is not visible on My Computer as a dri've so I STILL have no access to the player. Player screen reports "docked" with a logo and is flashes a charging icon. Driver v5.2.0.0. The player plays fine but hasn't had new music on in almost a year
There is nothing else on the XP install (IE6 and everything - argh!) I did the registry permission tweak thing mentioned?here:?http://support.creative.com/kb/showa....aspx?sid=9287?but it didn't do anything.
    Any help greatfully received!
