Zen Micro starts automatica

I've bought my Zen Micro 5GB about a week ago, and since the moment I have it, rhe following occurs.
Every time I shut down the player, it shuts down like it should, but after a few minutes (depends) the player starts up again, just continuing playing the songs. After a while it will shut again, but the strange thing is that it won't shut on command, and that it seems like it is frozen.
I didn't care too much about this, but when I wanted to go to my workplace today (which is a three-hour-travel, so I like some good music on the way) I noticed the battery was empty, while I had just charged it the evening before. Probably this is caused by the player starting up automatically.
Does anyone have experience with this, or know how to solve it's

I bought my Zen Micro last November (2005). Since then my computer crashed, where I loaded the start up disc on and I have moved and can't find my start-up disc. Is there anyway, I can download the software from online?

    Hi educ8tnu!
Yes, you can get the files you need through our Downloads page, just select your product and Operating System (on the next screen), and it'll show you a list of files. You will probably need a driver, the MediaSource Organiser file and a plug-in (to use the player in MediaSource).

  • Zen Micro starts with blue backlight and then fades to blank scr

My 2 year old Zen Micro which has had little use and few recharge cycles will neither charge, play music, or connect to my computer. I am hoping a battery replacement is all that is needed but hate to buy one if these symptoms don't sound like a bad battery. I have pulled the battery to "reset" it with no benefit. While plugged in I can hear the touch responsi've keys click but the screen is blank besides the charge logo and I get nothing when it is unplugged. It won't be recognized by my computer (Vista and new to the player) so I can't scan the hard dri've. Does this sound like a battery issue or are there other steps to try before replacing the battery. I contacted Creative and all they said was send it in and they will charge me no more than $35 for replacement if the repair is greater. If I had an iPod, they would look at it, swap a battery, and it'swould get solved in one minute at the in-store Genius desk. Thanks in advance.

kind of hard to understand your message but i think i get the general idea.....it should say that until its charged........

  • Zen Micro Starting Scr

    Hello,
I would like to change the lay-out of the openingscreen of my zen micro 5 GB and the EAX, it looks blocked. Can anyone help me, please?
    Thanks a lot.
    Gryffoer

They are greyed out because Micro does not support Eax and neither the change of the startup screen. Look through the forum, I made a similar topic maybe 4 months ago :P

I don't know if this has been reported, but my zen micro, when Off and Locked, suddenly goes on! so that drains my battery (which doesn't last very long in the beginning).
Has anyone have this problem? can it be solved?
    thanks

Nope, the alarm is off.. I really don't understand why it is doing that! I mean i shut it down, and lock it. So it shouldn't go On by itself!
    Should I reinitialize it's

  • Zen micro - start

When I turn my micro on it immediately takes me to the last track I played in now playing mode. Even if I switch off from the Menu. I am sure I am missing something - Is it a setting I have overlooked ? I am positi've it did not do this before now - been using it for about 2 weeks now.
    Any info is appreciated..... Tx

Ok - Thanks to you all - thought I was going loopy (but then I have been through a lot with my Micro so far)!
Don't know that I think it is a good feature to go back to the last song - as I nearaly always want to start from the menu or playlist again and not just resume where I left off when I switch back on!
Guess it is an easy thing to li've with - considering all the "real" problems I've had with the firmware/software issues (it's a slow road - but making progress)!
    Thanks again. Happy Zenning !

  • Zen Micro start up probl

i've just recieved my micro on this past friday. i turned it on to see what all i could do before charging it. i then installed all the software and let it charge, here's where it gets interesting... i unpugged it knowing it had 2 cells of battery so i could here the sample music to see how well the head phones worked, and all of a sudden it cut off. i tried turning it on again but it wouldn't work, so i plugged it into the computer and it works. so i thought maybe it was some faulty glitch, i was wrong, my micro will not work unless it is plugged into a computer, and it is full charged...what should i do?

Bwallen2008: You might also want to try removing and reseating the battery.

  • Creative Zen Micro crash

I bought a white Creative Zen Micro a week or so ago, and upgraded its firmware to .02.05 [the executable on the Creative site was entitled PCFW_LB__02_05_PDE.exe"]. A day or so ago, my Zen Micro started to lock up during playback. I could reset it by taking the battery out and restarting in recovery mode, but since then it has completely crashed and won't restart no matter what I try.
In between the first lock up and the catastrophic crash this evening, I did a disk cleanup, reformatted the hard disk, and reloaded the firmware twice. Nothing seemed to work, and I'm really worried something is seriously wrong with either the hardware or the battery - but I don't see how that can be.
I'm an advanced PC user, and the only things I did out of the ordinary were a) to occasionally drag and drop MP3s in a Windows XP explorer pane as opposed to using the bundled Creative software, and b) I re-charged the battery via the USB cable as opposed to the mains cable - but the Zen never gave any indication on having battery problems.
Has anyone experienced similar problems? If so, I'd certainly appreciate any advice you might have for me.
I've contacted Creative Support, but I don't know how long they'll take to get back to me. Does anyone know how long it takes them to respond?

Sounds like it's faulty, unfortunately . Try and get the store where you bought it to replace it for you.

  • Zen Micro No Longer Syncing With Comput

About a week ago my Zen Micro started to act up. When i plug it in to my comp it just freezes, so bad that i have to charge with the wall adapter. I would've posted earlier but the problem showed up as i was loading music for a week vacation. So... anyone else had a problem like this? Im goin to call cust. support tomorrow and see waht they say. Thanx in advance.

    Settings->Audio Settings
First try reloading the firmware onto the player, if that doesnt work then you might be a victim of the headphone jack problem.
If the player is still under warranty then contact Creative and they should be able to fix it for you.

  • MY ZEN MICRO IS DE

    Hi,
My Zen Micro starts up and displays Creative logo and prepares to start up then nothing happens. It is frozen at the screen "Creative" Logo. I connect it to my computer but computer can't see it.Also I tried rescue mod. I select all modes but after afew second it is frozen again. For example, I select format all option and then for 3 hours, it displays "formatting". What can I do? I am in San diego.

Your harddri've may be bad. that is why the previous poster said to put the micro to your ear. If you hear clicking noises the dri've is bad. They are expensi've to replace. Look on ebay you may find a hardri've better yet a player. I have purchased several that way
. Or ask in the epizenter.net forum for help.

  • My zen micro is over heating

I was pissed whan my zen micro started to "overheat" (WTF!!! ) and shutdown every time I turned it on, i tryed everything (that wont erase all of my songs) and it still wont turn on. also sometimes it wont charge fully and i was wondering if that might have any thing to do with it. if anyone has a salution to my problem please respond to this. I NEED MY MUSIC BACK!!!!!!!!!

Hello here. I had this problem with my first Zen Micro. I exchanged this one for another one, which in turn worked fine. Unfortunately, I had to start again with putting the music on, although in my case because the problem started after a couple of days, I hadn't copied that much. I tried the rescue mode thing, but nothing seemed to resolve the problem. Not good news I know, sorry!!

  • My Zen Micro won't start!

    Hi,
my zen micro turns on when it is connected to the computer. but it only says, "creative, copyright...." how do i get it to start again? i tried it on different computers to see if it was a pc problem but that didn't help either. then, i tried charging the battery but that didn't work. THEN, i tried removing the battery and putting it in again. yet, NO LUCK!! does this mean i have to buy a new battery for my mp3 player? HEEELLPPP ME. =)

Mine had the same problem except recorvery mode doesn't work; it'll just freeze if you select to Clean Up, Format, Reload Firmware, or reboot.
It happened to my previous Zen Microphoto also. Simply put, its junk.

  • Zen micro photo won't start & not detected anym

hello!?my zen micro photo started acting weirdly lately: even when the player's battery was fully charged, the player would shut itself down automatically a second or two after being turned on. i managed to access the recovery options and do a cleanup, but the problem was not solved. after, it started telling me that the battery was empty even after being charged for hours on my computer. (and the battery is only a year old or so). then?a few hours later, it even failed to turn on at all, and has stayed like that since. i could at least access the recovery console, so i tried formatting the dri've, but there was no improvement. i then tried to use the recovery utility found on your website, which updated the firmware to version 2.3 however, there was no difference, and the player still doesn't work. finally, my computer won't even detect the player anymore (although i have made no changes to the computer's configuration), and it won't even charge it, since it is not detected. (the player doesn't show any sign when it is plugged) so now, all i can get from the mp3 player is a "low battery" warning, and only when i try to access the recovery console (otherwise, nothing happens). any ideas?thank you !

just an update:i tried the "caveman repair method" (http://forums.creative.com/creativel...cending&page=3)and it ... worked... partially...at least the player now boots, although only to display a low battery warning...BUT as soon as i plug it to my computer, it crashesand i already tried the rear usb ports, no better, as well as 3 different computers, no improvment neithersooooo... anything else?maybe roasting it next time would help lol

  • Zen micro photo start up ti

jus wonderin... y is it that the start up time on the zenmicrophoto takes a longer time den the zen micro?

Possibly due to firmware and being a colour screen with a larger hard disk capacity. Start up time of the?ZMP from sliding the power switch to main menu takes only 20secs.

  • Zen Micro Photo won't Start

    Hi,
I have a Zen Micro Photo and it won't start up. The creative screen comes on and that is it. I have tried getting into the recovery screen by taking the battery out and replacing it while holding the power button on. That works and I can select any option but when I select say format, a screen comes up saying formatting but nothing happens.
I have also tried to push the reset button with a pin but it doesn?t seem to do anything at all.
The item is over 2 months old so I cannot return it under warrantee. I would appreciate any help.

I have tried to down load the latest version of the software (ZENMicroPhoto_PCFW_L6__3_0.exe) from the creative web site but when I run it, it says that the player is not connected even though it is. I have even tried to run?the program?while the player is in recovery mode but still nothing. Is there a way of forcing the computer to see it's
