ZEN micro startup l

i have a quyestion, but first of all, sorry for my english...
when i turn on my zen micro, it appears the zen micro logo (after the creative and the animated), but, for a moment, a group of pixels dissapears. i have the latest firmware version (.). is that normal? what can i do?
please, if you dont understand the problem, let me know and i?ll try to explain it better.
thanks for your help!!!

Do you mean that the logo is corrupted and distorted or that some of it goes away? Ever since I installed the firmware you mentioned half of the logo will disappear and my player will either start to work or a song will begin to play followed by the zen micro stalling.

I am curious abou this option but I can't access it. Is there a certain firmware I need to have or do I need pictures on there to change it's

I don't think you can change the Zen Micro startup screen (yet?)

  • Zen Micro: STARTUP FRE

Well....once again my Zen Micro has frozen upon startup, sometimes freezing at the animation screen, creative screen, or whatever. I have looked throughout the topics and notice this is a very common issue. I have had the problem for a while, and I'm starting to get quite ticked off, to be honest.
Has Creative even acknowledged this problem? If not, I THINK ITS ABOUT TIME.
Is there a real fix BESIDES formatting!?
This seemingly blatant disregard is horrible. I'm starting to think I should have just stuck with an Ipod and followed the masses. Ironically, I received an Ipod as a gift, however I told my father (who gave this gift to me) I'd rather have a Zen Micro. I did not want to have something everyone else had, and I wanted to give the "underdog" mp3 player company a chance. Seems like that decision did me over.
I would really like to see a SOLID response regarding this problem, possibly even by a CREATIVE employee...or am I asking for too much?

DM wrote:The problem lies in the hard dri've. IMO, Seagate made many faulty ST hard dri'ves and shipped them to players which use them such as the Zen Micro. Its unfortunate that this had to happen but it doesn't affect all the Zen Micros and its unsure of when those dri'ves were manufactured and sold.
Without evidence to back this up though it's hard to be sure. Creative have sold millions of players, and I certainly don't see thousands or even hundreds of repeated posts here with this problem.

  • Zen Micro Startup Screen Customizatio

Maybe someone can help me with a small problem I'm having:
I recently bought a Zen Micro mini and am quite impressed. Operation and quality has been great aside from one thing I'm having trouble with - I can't change the startup image via Creative Mediasource (or any other way for that matter).
The only help topics I've found on the subject give the size of the bitmap, but that's about it... I've been creating B&W 8 bit bmps at proper size that don't work.
Anyone willing to offer a 2 second tutorial or formatting suggestions?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure on the dimensions, but I'm fairly sure it needs to be 2 bit i.e. monochrome.

  • Zen Micro Startup

Hello Im new to the group
I have a 5GB zen micro. When I start it up it starts from the song I was last playing. Is there anyway to make it startup or load to the main menu instead of the last played song?
    Thanks
    Firmware ..0

The longer start time is a result of the Micro waking up from "deep sleep." It does this after 4 or 24 hours of inactivity, depending no which firmware you have.

  • Zen micro startup picture and EAX setti

Zen micro has a possibility to change the startup picture, doesn't it's In the creative mediasource there is an option Change the startup picture (below EAX settings) but it's not acti've, I mean you can't do anything with it. I would love to change the Creative animation for something else but I don't know how, it's just the same with the EAX settings.

No, you can't change the startup screen on the Micro. It is greyed out in MediaSource, because this software is also used for players that CAN change the startup screen.
And indeed, as bloodangel05 says, the Micro has no EAX

  • Creative Zen Micro (Startup Failure) Need URGENT he

Hi, i was on holiday in Singapore about 2 weeks ago, and i bought myself a Creative Zen Micro from one of the local sho
    ps.
It worked fine, music played brilliantly, i was happy. However, today when i turned it on, it would display the 'CREATIVE COPYRIGHT' Screen, then followed by 'CREATIVE' in large letters across the screen. It would then freeze on this screen, and the off/on button would soon become useless, which meant that i could either leave it on and kill the battery, or take it out.
When i took the battery out and in again, it would repeat with the 'CREATIVE' sign. Following the 'recovery' methods, i managed to load the screen with all the different options such as clean-up, etc etc. However, when i load any of them up, it would freeze once again and i would end up taking the battery out again.
I have tried the reset button with a pin but that doesnt do anything. I have a spare battery that does exactly the same too. My computer doesnt detect the Zen btw.
I have important documents and almost my lifetime's supply of music that took me almost weeks to rip and store into that Zen. Now that its basically dead, and i bought it in Singapore, i have basically no warranty, i feel as if i have been throwing cases of money into the toilet. I need urgent help, if theres any other ways of restoring access to my Zen.
Check the reviews on a respectable site like amazon.com: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Zen-Micro-6GB-Player/dp/B000AMR76S
After browsing around forums over the internet, I have found many other people complaining about this, which makes it a MAJOR flaw in the Creative Zens. Screw petty chargers and plugs, get the software right.

The problem you have is very simple, yet complicated to be solved. Your zen's hard dri've is dead. Most of the people who own a zen don't know it has a hard dri've inside. Some mp3 players have flash memory. Chances are that you've dropped your mp3 player. Zen's hard dri'ves are very sensiti've and must not be moved around too much. The way to go in this case is to replace the hard dri've. It is actually a micro hard dri've what you need. Seagate ST 5GB MicroDri've CF Type II. Once you have a new Hd installed you can format it using the zen's menu (remove the battery, hold the power button, place the battery in and wait untill you see the menu) This requires some experience formatting HD's and installing firmware. There is another option. You can buy a Patriot 4Gb Compact Flash Card, and follow what I've described above. The good thing about this is that your zen will take more vibration than the original. The bad one is tha those range from $70 - 99. I hope this hel

  • Zen Micro startup prob

Working fine for a while and no problem but all of a sudden simply cannot get my Micro to start. All that happens is hard disk can be heard shuffling about and the unit produces a repeating series of nine pathetic bleeps (descending in tone).
Goes into Rescue mode but nothing happens on any of the commands apart form the blee
    ps.
Anything to be done other than send it back? Seems pretty hopeless to me

I have also experienced startup problems and it seems to be a hard dri've problem. Sometimes it takes up to 5 minutes to boot and I hear the sound of the hard dri've thrashing about. Although it does take a long time, it usually does not freeze. It froze only about three times on startup. When this happens I take the battery out and try again. (FYI- when I inquired with Creative about a reset button the reponse I received instructed me the reset was to take the battery out).Message Edited by lilmightybull on 04-9-2005 2:24 AM

  • Zen micro Freezes at startup screen.... not go

well here is the story, i got my zen micro in feburary, and it worked good for about 3 weeks then i got that headphone jack problem, RMA'd it and got a new one
This new ZM wroks awesome, or it did until about 3 days ago, i tryed starting it up and it froze at the startup screen. i did the recovery mode numerous times tryed to upgrade the firmware and did everything, but nothing worked. Now im a bit angry because since the 60 day period is over i acually need to wait for creative to repair my ZM, and i just dont have time for that!!! on the 29th im leaving to new york, and then the 3rd im leaving for london and wont be back until 8th! but what will be my source of music then?!? this really angers me as i was looking very forward to listening to my mp3 player on the plane rides, at this point i ran outta options. Any help from any of the staff members or members in general as to how to solve this problem or even fix my ZM without ending it back

robtbomb: As per the FAQ, if rescue mode isn't working properly then the player is faulty. All you can do is contact support, perhaps by telephone to expedite matters, and see if they can return the player as a priority.

  • Zen Micro: Change Startup Scr

When I open up the properties of the Zen Micro (right click while exploring) in the Settings tab theres an option to change the startup screen of the Zen Micro, but its greyed out and you cant change it. Wondering if theres a work around, since a custom startup screen would be very cool.

    Nope, it can't be changed.

  • Zen Micro Stuck On Startup Scr

My Zen Micro 2 gig is two years old. It seems it is stuck on the startup screen that states "Creative." I thought I heard a slight pulsating/droning sound upon startup. I was going to merely try a firmware reinstall or format but I cannot even get the computer to recognize a connection with the device. When I charge the device, I do get the animated charging icon - however I am sure that would be independent of any other features.
If I remember correctly the Micro is a hard dri've based device? If so I would think that it must have been damaged somehow. Either way, any suggestions on how to attempt a fix? Or is the player gone to MP3 Heaven?
Thanks for any help. And for the record, I have been very happy with the device throughout my ownership.

If you're absolutely sure you cannot enter recovery mode then you'll need to contact support to get it replaced.

  • Creative Zen Micro freezes at startup with Creative logo on screen

Sorry for the long topic name, but it anoys me when people just say help, or pls help me! for topic names (Because I have no idea what they want). I tried the firmware update, and cleanup, but even though I only have about 527MB on it, (Just got it yesterday) it takes until the battery runs out to do any of the tasks in that mode, except reboot. Also, when I try plugging it into my comp, the comp acts as if nothing is plugged in. I check my computer, and it isnt even there! Please help, cause I just got it, and because I really dont want to return this thing. (The only thing stopping me from going ipod)

Did you try a disk cleanup? To access the Rescue Mode on the Zen Micro, remove the battery, hold the power switch to the "on" position, reinsert the battery. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu. Note: Disk cleanup should not remove your tracks. It searches through the disk for files and rebuilds the index, and can be useful for correcting any strange behaviour.

  • Zen Micro MP3 Player startup probl

When i was starting up my MP3 player it was just brining up the charge icon and wouldnt start up. Then it brought up the recovery menu and i did a disk cleanup hoping it would work now. Now when its plugged in my computer it doesent do anything the icon for charging doesent come up, it wont even turn on.
FYI it was working fine before
Edit: Now it is starting up and going back to just brining up the charge icon. I can also go to the recovery menu but it wont fully start up. I tried updating the firmware but im not able to connect it to the PC. It keeps telling me that it is not connected. I have tried 2 computers.

This same thing is happening to everyone I know who has a Zen Micro. Even me. I asked Creative about it and they said just return in to it's vendor or send it in for repair/return.

  • Zen Micro - Change the StartUp Scre

    Hi all!
The box seems to be greyed out, so I cant change it Is there a tick box I didnt tick, or is this the "norm" for Zen Micro?(I hope not!)
    Pete

It's a feature on the NJB3, Zen original, Zen 2.0, Touch and Xtra. It's a little bit of a flash in the pan feature though, so I wouldn't get too bothered about it being missing on the Micro.
