Zen Micro Sync quest

Hi there,
I got a Zen Micro today and I'm trying to get round learning how to use it since it differs quite a lot from the Muvo2 I used to have.
Something strange happens when I try to sync the player with Windows Media Player 0. Most of the files get transfered without any problem, but I always get an error message for some of them, telling me that they are corrupted when I know for a fact that they're not.
Has this happened to anybody else? Did you manage to solve the problem? I'd sure appreciate any help I can get.
Hope you all had a good Christmas Day!
Charlie

Oh, thanks for that. I just wanted to use Media Player as much as I could so I wouldn't have to install or use a new piece of software. As for the files, they're all mp3 or wma.

  • Zen Micro sync proble

Hi,I?formated my pc and installed all creative software as usuall but i cant sync my music from my mp3 player to my pc.. I tryed by dragging the files through "Organize music in device" button, but when i dragged the .mp3's the pc was "busy" but nothing came out.. Then i tryed the "Sync music between pc and device" button, this way was good but in the end i saw that i was transfering file with errors?with no weight.. Well thats my problem, now i got no music files on my pc.. but i still can hear them by connecting my player. So if someone got any suggestion, feel free to post.. Thank's

Again, you have to be a little more specific.
You tried doing what? When and how did it fail?
You said earlier that you could change some songs, now you can't do even that?
Have you changed sth with your player (firmware is what comes to mind).
Did you tried uninstalling all Creative programs, rebooting downloading the LATEST versions of the programs and then installing those instead?
BTW, it DOES matter which firmware version your player has:
If it is .xx.xx (eg ..0) then you should download and install THE LATEST versions of:
    Zen and Jukebox Driver (v.30.03)
    Zen Micro Media Explorer (v4.00.27)
    MediaSource Player-Organizer (v3.30.2)
    AND
    Jukebox plugin (v2.00.20) for MediaSource
If it is 2.xx.xx (eg 2.2.02) then you should install Windows Media Player 0 along with ALL the latest hotixes from microsoft.
If when by fail you mean that it worked ok for your friend but when you got back it didn't for you then it DEFINITELY means that there's a problem with your PC, not the player...
If this don't help ask again anything.

  • Zen micro sync with outlo

how do I sync with outlook? The softwear that the zen micro comes with isn't responding when I plug my mirco in, it says inte not connected even though it is (and I know it is becuase it syncs with napster...)

First you need to get your computer to be able to recognize your player. You can find hundreds of posts here by doing a search. Then you have to use the Zen Micro Media Explorer and select the Sync Music and Outlook button.

  • Zen Micro Sync Err

I have used the sync function on the Micro to back up my music collection to my
computer. Both times, the operation finished with a note that says -"errors encountered"
How can I check what kinds of errors ? The backup files looks ok to me, but I have no easy way
of verifying. Is there an error log ?
    Thanks.
Corrections ! I just looked into the backedup folders and there is nothing in them. The folders were created but they are empty. Does this have anything to do with security of the songs ? I paid for them online and should have complete access (I think).

You need to go to http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp and download Application #2 - Zen Micro Media Explorer .00. for Creative Zen Micro (Software Update Package for Zen Micro Players with *PlaysForSure/MTP Firmware).
This will update Micro Media Explorer so you can use it with the Micro's new MTP firmware.

  • Real Player Zen Micro Transfer Quest

I have some files I purchased a number of years ago via Real Player. They have an .rax extension and when I try and transfer them to the Micro I get an incompatable format message. I was just wondering if anybody knows a way to transfer these files to the Micro. Thanks for any help.

It was a decent player but the display on the remote drove me crazy and I was looking for something a little smaller. Anyways I must say that I?m disappointed with the Creative software. I find it very clunky. I had written syncing software for the IAudio , unfortunately the Zen Micro uses a proprietary driver that it uses to recognize the player. I?m guessing I will be able to use the SDK from Windows Media Player 0 to recognize the device but what a pain. It should just be recognized as a USB storage device. Anyways my real problem is that the transfer speed seems very slow to me. I?ve tried Windows Media Player, Creative MediaSource Organizer, and the Zen Explorer and all of them have disappointing speeds. Has anyone else noticed this? I?m running with firmware .02.05.
The transfer speeds should be much faster if you use one of the MTP firmwares (2.xx). Also, are you using USB 2.0?

  • Zen Micro Sync Prob

Help! I have a Zen Micro with the laetst firmware, and the latest Creative MediaSource on Windows 2000 Pro. I just re-organised my directory structure, deleted everything from the PC Music Library and re-imported all the tracks (they're all WMA's FWIW). I then did a shed load of tag editing, to get them properly organised. So far, so good.
Then I deleted everything from the Zen, and tried to resync. Only about 80% of the tracks transferred, and the sync manager just reports that there were errors. There does not appear to be any consistency to this: some tracks with edited tags copy OK, others don't. Some albums have transferred only a couple of tracks, while others are fine.
    Any clues?
Update: If I save the tags info back from MediaSource to the files, then import the files directly into the Zen, it seems to work OK. Except that it won't import corrected track numbers (i.e. where I have taken a 2CD set and stored them as a single 'album', and rejigged the track numbers for the 2nd CD so they play in the right order.)Message Edited by wiggo on 07-2-2005 :07 PM

EXACT same problem here too. You can transfer tracks directly to the player and it will work, but it would appear that certain tracks with edited tags either sync twice (two copies, one with old tag info, one with new) or won't sync at all.
I have been meaning to call Creative regarding this, however, my ZM is currently RMA for a hard dri've issue so the call can wait.
I would love it if there was a consistant way to edit track info and have that info copy to PC/MIcro.
Anyways, just wanted to echo your words in hopes someone is either working on a fix, or knows how the user can conquer this issue.

  • Zen Micro EQ questi

My Zen Micro was purchased in Nov 04. I downloaded and installed new firmware in Jan 05. Now I transfer my music directly from my computer's WMP0 files, and use no Creative software. Works fine, I'm very pleased with this wonderful player. I have some questions for SSR or Jeremy, or please direct me elsewhere...
Question #: I'm sometimes able to play songs with "EQ off". Other times I need to use the pre-set EQ settings. The two I most often use are "Classical" and "Vocal". Please, tell me what the 5 EQ setting numbers are for each of these two pre-set choices.
Question #2: The fi've frequency settings in my unit's Custom EQ are 80, 250, k, 4k, and 3k Hertz (Hz). Let's say I want to improve or reduce a sound frequency of 800 Hz... Do I adjust ONLY the 250 Hz setting? Or do I adjust ONLY the k (,000) Hz setting (closest to the frequency I want to change)? Or do I adjust BOTH the 250 and k Hz settings?
    Thank you for your assistance.

    Thanks, SSR.
As to Question , who would I contact at Creative Labs? My free help days are long gone. Would they consider this "proprietary information"? My WMP0 EQ has 0 frequency settings, twice as many as my Micro. It also has a "Classical" and an "Opera" pre-set, but the settings are spaced differently.
I've "guesstimated" what the Micro settings might be, using the WMP0 settings, and I'm close, but I'm also off a little bit... Hence, Question #2...
God, I hate reinventing the wheel...

  • Zen Micro remote quest

I've been looking at players and liked the Micro and Neeon,as it seems the Neeon's been phased out in favour of it the Micro seems the one for me.
My main requirements that most players seem not the feature were a remote so I don't have to keep fishing the thing out and really would have prefered a player with Flac or other lossless support, but I guess mp3 will have to do.
The question I have is regarding the remote,I was happy when I finally discovered it has one as an optional extra and that closed the deal but I have one question.
On the Cnet review for it , http://computershopper.com.com/Creative_Zen_Micro_5GB/4505-6490_7-35927-3.html?tag=nav
    they claim
"Everything that comes in the box (plus the optional wired remote) matches."
The picture also shows a much cooler looking remote than the one in the shop, that I take it has the same colour as the player you choose.
    Are they not available?

The wired remotes for the Zen Micro are not available in the same full range of colours that the player is, but you can get it in black and white. You didn't mention what region you're in, but here are a few links:
US online store (they have it available in Black/Black, Black/White and White/White)
European online store (available in Black or White)

  • Charging Zen Micro battery quest

    Hello all,
I went to charge my Zen Micro 5Gb last night. Plugged the usb end into the Micro and put the plug in the wall socket and the Zen showed it was charging, but I had caught the lead between the li've and neutal pins of the plug, so it wasnt flush in the wall socket.
I unplugged, moved the cable and plugged back in (a matter of no more than 5 -0 seconds) and the Zen did nothing, just a blank screen.
Pulled the plug out again and waiting this time before plugging back in and all went well, 3 hours later all charged.
I assume I spiked the battery? Could I have done any harm to the battery or player?
    Any replies would be appreciated.

I guess at worst you might have had an intermittent connection, which in turn might have damaged the player (constant "spiking", as you mentioned).
If the player is fine though it sounds to me like it didn't suffer any damage.

  • Zen Micro Power quest

Hi, Im in VietNam right now for vacation... I notice that that power here is different from the USA. In the US they use 0 power, here they use 20. I charge my Zen Micro by computer, would it crash my Zen Micro if i charge it with one of the computer in VN using 20 power?

    HI all,
All PC's will drop down this down to the correct voltage regardless of location. Most PSU's on PC's have that little red switch switch which should never be touched that will change the PSU to accept either 0 or 22-240 Volts. So in short the PC's PSU does the work to drop this down to a standard voltage regardlesss of location.
Also the power supply thats available for the Micro will accept any global voltage (0-240 v).
    Hope this clears it up.

  • Hey..Zen Micro Warranty Quest

    Hi..
I bought my Zen Micro about 2 months ago and i have not encountered any major problems.... but...
Yesterday I dropped my Micro from a table onto a hard floor...and now...when u shake it a little bit(not agressi'vely just a little shake..) you can here moving parts inside it as if they had broken of inside..now my Zen Micro keeps freezing on the Creative logo... I have tried rebooting i and all that suff but I was wondering if my Warranty would cover this...and if it did..would they exchange over the counter or would they have to send it away..
(sorry for the mistakes I have missed this is a new keyboard and I am trying to get used to it!!!)
Thanks for all your suggestions.....Message Edited by macroman on 08-30-2005 04:09 AM

The warranty doesn't cover accidental damage. If this was bought on a credit card, or you have house insurance, it *might* be covered to some degree.

  • Zen Micro Recorder quest

I used my Micro to record my son's gig (wow...sound was actually pretty good, picked up all the solos even) but I wanted to transfer the files to my pc and they don't show in zen explorer. Explorer shows "tracks" playlists albums artists, but I didn't see recordings anywhere. Ideas?
Also, where is the microphone on this thing? I look at it and don't see one anywhere ;-)

    SSR wrote:
There's no way to connect a microphone to the Micro.
I tried to conect my microphone to the Zen Micro through the headphone jack. It works. To make sure that I was really using the microphone instead of the built-in recorder, I recorded "high-volumes of sounds" (read: Shouting). It did not have the problems normally associated with the recording of loud noises.

  • Zen Micro Case Quest

Not sure this belongs here...but I have a question about the Creative Zen Micro leather case. You shouldn't get magnets near Mp3 players such as a micro, but the leather case shuts with a magnet. Is this actually safe, or can a keep using mine?

Should be no problem. The magnet is very weak and will not interfere with the player...

  • Zen Micro Firmware Questi

    Hi!
I bought a Zen Micro a couple of weeks ago and I've allready got about 600 songs on it. At the moment I've got the .02.05 Firmware and I'm considering to upgrade it to the newest. So the my question is: Can the upgrade effect the player in anyway? And I've also heard that songs and other stuff that are in the player might get deleted...is this true? Is it really any reason to uprgrade? Is there alot of important or cool improvments in the newest Firmware?
I really hope someone would answer some of my questions, thanks anyway :smileyvery-happy:

You don't HAVE to upgrade your firmware, but I certainly would recommend it-mainly for the increased battery length you will get from the reduced standby time (further details of the firmware changes are on various threads here)
As long as you are upgrading to version ..0 you will not lose any songs from your player- this will only happen if you go to the playforsure version 2 firmwares.
don't be put off by comments regarding the ..0 firmware- it works well & definitely is good to increase battery time.

  • New Zen Micro - Few Questi

I intallled the software and let it charge. Is it done charging when the lights stay off?
How do i turn off the zen micro?
When i transfer songs to it, can i leave the songs in the file folders that organise the songs by album?

you can generally transfer the folder of files, i've never tried dragging the folder its self to the player but it might work.
the player doesnt come up as a dri've letter just a device, but yer.
you can use any software compatable with it, i mainly use real player or zen micro media explorer, or if im already in it winamp (with plug in). use what ever software your most cumfortable with. WMP mand music match also support it.im sure there are lots of things otu there that will.
you can view by album, its not orgaising the music its displaying it in that way, just go to music libary, on the player, then select album.
means its new mine came with .0.03, im not running ..0 and happy with it, V2 is play for sure, so its down through WMP.
