Zen micro - takes so long to play the next s

Hello,
I just got a Zen Micro and I am thinking of returning it tomorrow because it takes so long to play one song, then skip to another. I press forward song or backward, or I jump to another album and press to play another song and sometimes I have to wait up to 0 seconds until the next songs starts to play - very annoying. Often I wait at last 5 seconds. Do you experience this? Can anything be done? This is not acceptable.
Thanks, Holden

I am the one who started this thread and have some information about why I was experiencing this problem.
A friend of mine who turned me on to the Zen Micro never experienced the problem I was experiencing - waiting too long to skip from one song to another. He suggested that my Micro might be defecti've. So I returned it and got another one.
I returned it, went home and updated the firmware and again loaded it with tons of songs using Napster-to-go. Nothing changed - it still would sometimes take several seconds to jump from one song to another (****it would play straight through play lists and albums without a hitch though).
I decided to keep the Micro because it is such a cool device and appeals to me much more than the iPod.
Glad I did. Last night I started ripping my CD collection and put it on to the Micro. I listened to some of the songs and noticed I could jump around from track to track without any delay.
I only experience the delay using the Napster-to-go service. I guess there's some small piece of code in the PlaysForSure update that checks to see if the tracks are legal or not. That's my guess.
The Micro is amazing - sounds amazing, looks amazing, the navigation is amazing. And it works with Napster-to-go perfectly (well except for the short delay that I've described).
Thanks to everyone for your comments.

  • I gave my macbook pro 13' to this guy to fix it and he is taking more than 3 weeks to repair it, I just wanna know if its appropriate to take so long to fix the problem that he claims

    So I sent my macbook pro to a nearby macbook repair person because it was too slow, everytime I click on something, the rainbow wheel will appear and it will take like a few minutes to open up a window. Also, my videos were stucked whenever I played them in VLC etc but when I use my external hard disk to play the video, it will be okay. So I sent to this guy explaining all the problems I am facing with my macbook, then he claimed that he could do it within a day as its probably just the hard disk problem or if its the processor(2days). And now its been 3 weeks and he is still fixing my macbook, he told me it was the bios and he needs sometime to do it as he needs to be very careful. I dont know if I should believe him, its been more than 3 weeks now? I just wanted to know if what he is saying is logic and if it is, does it really take so long to fix the bios?
    p/s I've increased the RAM to 8gb 1600Mhz Ddr3 recently thinking that was the problem but obviously it didnt fix my problem Help me out
    Thank youuu.

    Mac's do not have a BIOS to flash. Get your Mac back before this situation gets worse. Then take it to an Apple Store. You will have to pay.
    FYI
    "p/s I've increased the RAM to 8gb 1600Mhz Ddr3 recently"
    You fitted the wrong Ram, you will need to change it for the right Ram when you get it back.

  • Zen micro file transfer error and playing mista

    My Zen Micro 5GB had some problems wih the sound:sometimes, listening to a song, I heard (more orless) a second of another song but after that isreturned to the selected one. This is not the only problem: sometimes, whentransferring data between a PC and the player'sstorage dri've (2GB) it stops after a while.When transferring music from the player to the PCusing Music Organizer the PC receives some musicbut after a while it stops and displays amessage 'Cannot transfer file: file not found';after this, the player remains 'busy' also if youclose all the programs opened. I tried to fix this in many ways I installed the version 2.x firmware, so Icould re-install the latest .x version.2) I learned how to access the recovery functionsand I tried all of themBut after all this, it continues to display theerror message and I think sometimes it could stopplaying the song I'm listenig to and play asecond of another one.

    all the songs are mp3 format
    the transfer window pops up, the status will say writing for about 5sec. then the error comes up and says unable to create file - restart player and try again.
    but then the player has the acti've docked logo on, which you aren't supposed to unplug from the computer when that's on, but it will not go off. I've left it for hours and ended up unplugging it anyway. So I've restarted it, pulled the batter and retried that a few times too.
    Any ideas?
    thanks for your help

    Don't know if that would be a failing hard drive, but it may be that you are out of available space. How much hard drive space do you have available? Please highlight the Macintosh HD icon and then press Command and I for a get info window. Once open, please copy and post the following:
    Capacity:
    Used:
    Available:
    Mac OS requires a minimum of 10 - 15% of total hard drive space available and empty at all times in order to operate properly.

  • Why does it takes so long to download the new version of Itunes?

    why does it takes so long to download the new version of Itunes?

    Since you cannot download iTunes on an iPod touch, this would not seem to be the correct forum for this question. I'd suggest you post full details of your problem in either the iTunes for Mac forum or the iTunes for Windows forum, as applicable to your system.
    Regards.

  • Playing the next fol

    How can I get my Zen Micro to play the next folder once the current folder is through playing? (Other than creating a playlist). When I am in the middle of something, I would really like it to advance to the next folder and just keep playing.
    Also, what is the setting A (arrow) B? It looks like the setting on an old cassette player that would flip to the "B" side of the cassette.
    It would be nice to have an explanation of what all these player settings mean -- repeat all, repeat once, shuffle all, etc.
    Thanks.

    With the Zen Micro, if you would like it to play certain songs or albums, you have to add those to your "Select Music". Just select the album you want, press the options/menu button (bottom right) and choose "Add To Selected". As you are referring to folder, I just want to make sure you have the Zen Micro, and not a smaller flash player. Can you confirm?

    That setting is on some players and can be used to play a portion of a track (from A to B).
    It would be nice to have an explanation of what all these player settings mean -- repeat all, repeat once, shuffle all, etc.
    Based on the options the Zen Micro has, here are some details:
    Play Modes
    Normal -> Plays the tracks in the order they are listed, then stops playing when it reaches the end of the list
    Repeat Track -> Repeats the selected track continuously until you stop playback
    Repeat All-> Repeats all the tracks continuously until you stop playback
    Shuffle -> Shuffles the selected tracks, plays them, and stops when it has played them all
    Shuffle Repeat -> Same as Shuffle, but will repeat playing until it's you stop playback
    Track Once -> It will play only the current track, then stop
    The manual is available for download on the site and should include some information. The knowledgebase is a good source of information aswell (go to Support-> Knowledgebase).

  • ITunes doesn't play the next song, it just stops after one track.

    I have iTunes 11.0.1. When I play a song in my playlist, I expect the next song to start as the first one ends, but iTunes stops and doesn't play the next song. I'm missing some sort of setting but what?
    It's not a smart playlist, just a playlist of favorite music I've built up over the years.
    Mountain Lion.

    Have the tracks become unchecked? iTunes will skip unchecked tracks, so if they're all unchecked, iTunes will play one and then stop. If this is indeed the case, re-checkmark the tracks - Command-click will select or unselect them all - and you should then have continuous playback.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I prevent the Videos in iOS 8 from automatically playing the next episode of a TV Show?

    I noticed that, after updating my iOS device from iOS 7 to 8, that when it's finished playing a TV Show episode in the Videos app, it begins playing the next one. I like to fall asleep, listening to a single episode knowing that it'll stop and eventually let my iPad fall asleep, but with this change in iOS 8, it will play through the rest of season before doing so.

    Thanks.
    I noticed you bolded "Apple-branded apps" from the first sentence of section 2 (c).
    What is the definition of "Apple-branded" in this context?
    For example, "Apple Watch" is now a preinstalled app, and would seem to fit the definition of "Apple-branded", but I can't uninstall it.

    Not all apps can be removed, for example Safari, iWatch, Weather,... they all come with the iOS software. Only some apps made by Apple that are available in the AppStore can be removed again, if preinstalled on your iPhone 6, for example Pages, Garageband and some others.
    You can remove those and install them later again by downloading them again for free.
    (c)To the extent that Apple has preinstalled Apple-branded apps from the App Store on your iOS Device at the time of purchase (“Preinstalled Apps”),

    How can I get netflix on Apple TV to auto play the next episode?

    I don't have the answer to this question, and yes, I checked the "I have the same question, too" box.. But so did 30 some other people.. So, I've scoured the web and looked high and low into the Apple TV device.. HOW CAN I DO IT? My playstation 3 did it[.. My WDTV box top I've had for 2 years can do it! My Smart Vizio TV [netflix app built in to the tv] can do it! My Apple ipad can do it. My iPhone can do it.. So, can my Apple TV do this? Or Not?

  • How do I disable "up next" on itunes 11 (or at least make it play the next song in my playlist and not some random one)

    ITunes 10 was great and I heard nothing but horror stories about 11 so I didn't upgrade until I got my new computer and pushed my music over.  In fact, I accidentally hit update and disconnected my computer from the Internet to stop it from happening, but was too late and now I'm stuck with it.
    When I play a song and the song ends, instead of playing the next song on the list, it plays some random other song.  When I "clear list," iTunes doesn't play anything at all.  What gives?  What happened to the greatest media player?  As a pro audio engineer, I've got over 150Gb of music and this just doesn't fly.  I HAVE to have my music in order and if iTunes can't do that, what is its purpose?
    Help, please.

    iTunes 11 works fine on my computer...   I think you need to check the "Shuffle" settings in all of your playlists, including the main library...   It sounds like for whatever reason, iTunes is automatically shuffling your playlists...

  • Programmatically playing the "next" video in a playlist results in the old video playing as well

    (Using OSMF v1.6)
    When a video has finished playing, my player will automatically play the next video in a playlist, after doing the following:
    var loadTrait:LoadTrait = myMediaElement.getTrait(MediaTraitType.LOAD) as LoadTrait;
    loadTrait.unload();
    myMediaContainer.removeMediaElement(myMediaElement);
    myMediaPlayer.media = null;
    --- proceeds to create the new mediaElement (ex: myNewMediaElement) with appropriate metadata, etc
    myMediaContainer.addMediaElement(myNewMediaElement);
    myMediaPlayer.media = myNewMediaElement;
    Invariably this has resulted in the new video playing normally, but the *old* video also playing, I assume as an element/player/container behind the new one. So you get two simultaneous audio streams.
    Executing the same sequence of commands with a user interaction (i.e. clicking a "next" button to play the next video) does not display this behavior.
    I have done some searching and I cannot find anything else to try; does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!

  • How can I make iTunes 11 automatically play the next album?

    Before iTunes 11, I could just double-click on a cover art to start the album and everything would flow from there, playing the next album in the library once it was finished and so on.
    Now, if I do that (in Album view or Artist view), it plays only that album and stops. If I press que Play button at the top of the Artist view, it plays all the albums. But I can't just start listening to an artists' albums from, example, the third one or fourth one. It's either all or one at a time.
    And yeah, I know about playlists. I didn't used them before because I didn't have to.

    I agree, this is a ridiculous change.  The "play" arrow next to the title of the album on the expanded view does nothing; neither does the play option from the context menu when I right click on an album cover.  I'm using iTunes 11 on a Windows 7 laptop.  Does anyone else have this issue?  Very lame.

    How do I set up iTunes to automatically move on to / play the next album after the last one has finished? (in Album view).
    This used to happen automatically in Genre view.

    Hi Henryhippo,
    If you have questions about play order in iTunes, you may find the following article helpful; I believe you can use the Play Next or Add to Up Next to add albums as well as songs.

  • TS1718 I can't get iTunes to simply play the next song on the list

    I can't get iTunes to simply play the next song on the list. It simply stops after playing one song.

    That's consistent with all the tickboxes to the left of the tracks (in Song view) being unchecked.
    Go into Song view and Ctrl-click (on Windows) or Command-click (on Mac OS) one of the empty boxes to do a "global recheck".
    If you can't see the tickboxes, head into your General preferences tab and select "Show list tickboxes" as per the following screenshot (it's for an earlier version of iTunes, but the boxes are in roughly the same place in the recent versions 11.x):
