  • Zen Micro Touch pad Prob

Hey guys. I bought a Zen Micro from eBay for pretty cheap.
I knew that it was slightly faulty which is the reason why it's so cheap.
Basically, what's wrong with it, is that the vertical touch pad only goes one way at a time.
EG, if i want to put the volume up, I'll scroll up but it'll go down.
Now I thought I'd found a way to fix this, which is to push hard on the scroll pad in the direction I want to go then the scroller would be set to go that way. This isn't really practical but it does work sometimes.
What I want to know is is there any way I can fix it permanently? I have disassembled it and taken a look around but there wasn't anything I could see that could be causing a problem because the touch pad part of the Micro is hidden behind that big metal plate.. so I can't see in there.
    Anybody else had this problem?

I'd suggest a Zen Wired Remote. It'd be a lot easier than taking the Zen apart and trying to fix it.

  • Zen Micro touch pad responsiven

I have been having sporadic problems with the touch pad responding to my touch, at any sensitivity setting. It only happens sometimes, but happened last night when my phones were not plugged into the ZM. When I plugged the phones into my ZM, the touch pad was back to normal. Any experiences similar to this and should I just chalk up the sporadic nonresponsi'veness to the ZM just being tempermental?

after all who uses there Micro without phones/audio output device?plugged in ?
actualy, I use the calender funtion alot without the headphones beeing pluged in. I guess I belong to the minority who does that.
My touchpad works great, even when the headphones aren't pluged in. something might be wrong with your touchpads but if you don't use it without the headphones pluged in, then don't worry about it.

  • Zen Micro Touch Pad Non Functio

I just received my new Zen Micro, and the touchpad doesnt work at all. Not only that, but he power button doesnt either. I can move it all I want, but the player doesnt turn off if its on, and doesnt turn on if its off.

Before you contact the store or Technical Support, can you just double check for me if the lock switch is on? When locked, this will preven the unit from turning on.

I am unable to escape from one artist which has 6 songs. No matter what category I select (FM ,most popular, play mode) when I touch >\\ it only goes back to those 6 songs. I am unable to escape. I tried to remove the battery for 0 second, turned power off then on?but it comes back to the same artist and same 6 songs. No matter what button I touch same results.

  • Zen Micro Touch pad suggest

You know how if you hold your finger on all the way to the top or bottom, it will rapidly scroll up or down. Well it works on all of my fingers except my thumb. It put my thumb all the way up, hopping that it will scroll all the way up, but it works half the time
Creative should know that the thumb is the one who i going to use the scroll pad. Not a big deal to me but maybe to some people

I think it has something to do with the surface area your thumb is large compaired with your finger so when your thumb is at the top or bottom it cant tell the difference between it and a stationary finger near the top. if it would react to your thumb i believe that if you were to use another finger it would be far to reacti've and scroll when u didnt want it to.
it does, when you scroll up or down and hold your finder at the top or botton it will rapidly scroll through the list. give it a try its useful and a feature that cant be achieved with a scroll wheel.

  • Trouble playing/pausing with Zen Micro touch

I am having a fairly peculiar (and frustating) issue with my new Zen Micro's touchpad. For me, the Play "button" (area) works only sporatically. Here's the symptoms: I can reliably press the Play/Pause button with my thumb, but I can't reliably press play with the tip of my finger. I NEED to be able to do this since I set the player on my desk at work and will need to quickly hit the Pause button if something comes up (read: if I actually have to work).
I have the latest firmware, so that isn't a solution for me and I have tried playing with different sensitivity settings. After playing around quite a bit, I have determined that the button requires something wide pressing down on it to work. The narrow tip of my finger doesn't work, but the (wider) side of my thumb or even 2 finger tips work great.
Has anyone experienced something similar to this? Is my player functioning normally? Any help is much appreciated.

i have the same problem. back, forward and volume control works fine. sometime much too good
but play, back and menu is only reacting sometimes for me.
and thats the second player i have. had the same prob with the first and got a new one from the vendor.
someone here could help out a little plz? can you all use the play button with the tip of your finger ?Message Edited by washi on 02-23-2005 0:47 AM

  • ZEN Micro Touch

Is it normal to have to push really hard on a the touchpad on a zen micro to get it to work or is there something wrong with my unit's

hmm, that doesn't sound good... the touchpad really should operate with just a very light stroke of the finger or thumb, or at least mine does!.... it may be worth getting it swapped, as if you are having to really push it hard that is not good!!!

  • Zen Micro % Touch Ca

Hey guys if we all make enough request on this website for cases they will develop one for us in a good timely fashion, i think we should all give it a try and see what comes of it. Doesn't take to long just about a min and it is worth getting a case for our plyers at least here is the link:
    http://www.boxwave.com/community/request/index.htm
I have chosen between the acti've case and the flexskin type cases in which are both very nice and decent and i also request a minisync cable also. I hope you guys decide to give this a try because i know i would like a case differ from that given to us by creative.

But these cases are very well priced, the price range of $5 - $23 and they are very durable and i own a zen touch 40gb already and the vaja cases to me are too business style like and i would like a sportish case or a nice looking one because one case (vaja) is not enough we need a variety don't we. And i would just hope that you guys would be willing to help in that we need more cases for our players.

  • Zen Micro or Zen Touch!!! I NEED PEOPLES ONPINION

i dont know wether to get the zen micro or zen touch. i've seen both of them. they both look awesome but i cant choose. i like that the zen touch has a 24 hr batt life. but i like the zen micros touch pad.so what should i choose. please help me!! thanks for any help!!

well, i own a Zen Touch and so far all i have had with it has been one problem after another. first it was the driver, then the organizer program wouldnt handle the player, power gets drained after 3 hours (transfering) and not i cant get music to transfer over to it (couldnt from the begining) and the support people are at a loss on why it isnt working. i love the design of the touch and it is a perfect size storage and physicaly. that is why i bought it but now im thinking it is too much trouble to bother with. i may opt for the xtra but if u like the micro id say go for that instead of the touch. i havent heard of as many program problems from it as the touch.

  • Zen Micro....je

I own a Zen Touch...and i've been always interested to see a zen micro...to see what was all that about. So someone comes to my house with a micro... I was surprised.
The first idea that came to my mind was "wow...that..is...small" I took it....felt it...then looked at my zen touch and it looked like a big fat old devide....that made me kinda sad. The glow the micro has was very nice...as so the design. I checked it to see the functions.... I got impressed. It has many of the feautures I always wished my ZT had...it has at least.... FEAUTURES. Going throught the menu as much more easy...since you dont have to put "view albums" -> "view tracks" to listen to a song. I also liked that the touch pad controls the volume... I guess I will stick to my dedicated volume controls....
I like the backlight more in the micro, and the way it turns off and on...anyway, the thing is... I got a bit jealous after checking this gadget.
I guess the only advantage the Touch has over the micro...is the 20/40gb capacity.
I suppose the new Zen (micro/touch hybrid) will be an awesome player. Who knows.
Anyway discuss shocking moments and dissapointments in life.....or mp3 players

I have owned a micro, but after having problems (with more than one device), and yes, I admit, the posts in this forum about the headpfone jack and other issues, have contributed to my desigion to change to a Touch.
The Micro is far better than the Touch in terms of features, ease of use and MENU OPTIONS. It is much more easy to navigate through the menu of the Micro, you can also customise it.
The Touch however has its advantages over the micro. One great advantage is the battery life. It should last twice as long, but it actually lasts more than twice. The battery can not be changed, but it should last long enough till it is time to change the player. In the coming months we are going to get evem more jealous on the newer gadgets that are overflowing the market. This is how the economy goes, and if you happy with your player, there is simply not reason to be jelous or said, that you do not get the better and the newer device.Another avantage is as already mentioned the capacity. For me personally the dedicated volume buttons are too of an advantage. Quality of the sound is as great as of the micro, but with the original firmware.
And may be one more advantage is, that there have been not so many reports about faulty Touches. This could be an advantage if it is really so, that the micro has a greater problem/issue percentage than the touch. Yet another, for me personally more powerfull advantge about this, is the psychological factor: even if the micros do not have that great problem/issue percentage, reading the posts makes me feel uncomfortable.
I would too like to see some enhancements, some micro-like menu options, such as the "find/search a keyword" option, a customisable menu option and other, the removable storage device funktion for example, but I simply do not see a spare button for the menu options button as it is on the micro. May be holding the OK button some longer would do that, or pressing it twice.Message Edited by plam_mk on 04-6-2005 2:4 PMMessage Edited by plam_mk on 04-6-2005 2:4 PMMessage Edited by plam_mk on 04-6-2005 2:44 PM

  • Creative Zen Micro Charg

I have a Zen Micro, version firmware. I am able to charge it through the USB cable connected to a computer, but it will not charge with an AC adapter. I've tried a different adapter and different battery, no luck. Any suggestions?

its a 4gb zen micro touch before you post i think you need to do your reseach use google its from japan and its 4gb it also has been metioned on the forum i shud no i've looked everywere to find a diffenrent version from 5gb to try and cut out problems as these are updated versions
In your original post you did not say it was a Micro - you said simply "zen touch", which comes in either a 20 gb version or 40gb version. The Zen Micro comes in 4gb, 5gb, or 6 gb options. At any rate, if you come onto a forum looking for help, and someone tries to help you, it is generally poor behavior to respond with a snide, smart-ass comment, especially given the fact that your grammer is practically unreadable. If I were you, I would exchange your Micro for a spell-checker and a bucket-load of punctuation marks. Sheesh.

  • Zen MP3 Micro.........Touch pad WAAAAYYYYY too sensitive !!!!! HE

    Hi!
I just bought the above and, even with the sensitivity set to "LOW", it it STILL way too sensiti've for me to go thru the menus.
The hardest part is to reply YES or NO when deleting a playlist....sometimes, it's takeen 0 MINS of repeated tries!!!!!!!!!
(I touching it as lightly as i CAN!).
Is there any way to make it even LESS sensiti've?
    Thank you,

updating the firmware will delete all that is on your player now but if the toutch pad annoys you this badly i would think it wouldnt be to much effort. before you update you should make sure you dont already have the newest update.
Maybe I was lucky, but I've updated the firmware a few times and still have tracks that I loaded the first day I got my Zen Micro.
<B>Note</B>: I've only updated to the ..0 firmware; not the 2.x versions.
To update your firmware, go to the top of the page where it says <I>Support</I>, go to <I>Downloads</I>, click <I>Mp3 Players</I>, <I>ZEN</I>, <I>Zen Micro</I>, <I>Select Your Language</I>, <I>Select Your Operating System</I>, <I>File Type (<B>firmware</B>)</I>, hit <I>Go</I> and select <I>Creative Zen Micro Firmware ..0 (2.03 MB)</I>, unless you need features that version 2.20.05 has.
