Zen Micro Touch pad Prob

Hey guys. I bought a Zen Micro from eBay for pretty cheap.
I knew that it was slightly faulty which is the reason why it's so cheap.
Basically, what's wrong with it, is that the vertical touch pad only goes one way at a time.
EG, if i want to put the volume up, I'll scroll up but it'll go down.
Now I thought I'd found a way to fix this, which is to push hard on the scroll pad in the direction I want to go then the scroller would be set to go that way. This isn't really practical but it does work sometimes.
What I want to know is is there any way I can fix it permanently? I have disassembled it and taken a look around but there wasn't anything I could see that could be causing a problem because the touch pad part of the Micro is hidden behind that big metal plate.. so I can't see in there.
Anybody else had this problem?

I'd suggest a Zen Wired Remote. It'd be a lot easier than taking the Zen apart and trying to fix it.

• Zen Micro touch pad responsiven

I have been having sporadic problems with the touch pad responding to my touch, at any sensitivity setting. It only happens sometimes, but happened last night when my phones were not plugged into the ZM. When I plugged the phones into my ZM, the touch pad was back to normal. Any experiences similar to this and should I just chalk up the sporadic nonresponsi'veness to the ZM just being tempermental?

after all who uses there Micro without phones/audio output device?plugged in ?
actualy, I use the calender funtion alot without the headphones beeing pluged in. I guess I belong to the minority who does that.
My touchpad works great, even when the headphones aren't pluged in. something might be wrong with your touchpads but if you don't use it without the headphones pluged in, then don't worry about it.

• Zen Micro Touch Pad Non Functio

I just received my new Zen Micro, and the touchpad doesnt work at all. Not only that, but he power button doesnt either. I can move it all I want, but the player doesnt turn off if its on, and doesnt turn on if its off.

Before you contact the store or Technical Support, can you just double check for me if the lock switch is on? When locked, this will preven the unit from turning on.

• Zen Micro, touch pad stuck one one arti

I am unable to escape from one artist which has 6 songs. No matter what category I select (FM ,most popular, play mode) when I touch >\\ it only goes back to those 6 songs. I am unable to escape. I tried to remove the battery for 0 second, turned power off then on?but it comes back to the same artist and same 6 songs. No matter what button I touch same results.

I'd suggest a Zen Wired Remote. It'd be a lot easier than taking the Zen apart and trying to fix it.

• Zen Micro Touch pad suggest

You know how if you hold your finger on all the way to the top or bottom, it will rapidly scroll up or down. Well it works on all of my fingers except my thumb. It put my thumb all the way up, hopping that it will scroll all the way up, but it works half the time
Creative should know that the thumb is the one who i going to use the scroll pad. Not a big deal to me but maybe to some people

I think it has something to do with the surface area your thumb is large compaired with your finger so when your thumb is at the top or bottom it cant tell the difference between it and a stationary finger near the top. if it would react to your thumb i believe that if you were to use another finger it would be far to reacti've and scroll when u didnt want it to.
it does, when you scroll up or down and hold your finder at the top or botton it will rapidly scroll through the list. give it a try its useful and a feature that cant be achieved with a scroll wheel.

• Trouble playing/pausing with Zen Micro touch

I am having a fairly peculiar (and frustating) issue with my new Zen Micro's touchpad. For me, the Play "button" (area) works only sporatically. Here's the symptoms: I can reliably press the Play/Pause button with my thumb, but I can't reliably press play with the tip of my finger. I NEED to be able to do this since I set the player on my desk at work and will need to quickly hit the Pause button if something comes up (read: if I actually have to work).
I have the latest firmware, so that isn't a solution for me and I have tried playing with different sensitivity settings. After playing around quite a bit, I have determined that the button requires something wide pressing down on it to work. The narrow tip of my finger doesn't work, but the (wider) side of my thumb or even 2 finger tips work great.
Has anyone experienced something similar to this? Is my player functioning normally? Any help is much appreciated.

i have the same problem. back, forward and volume control works fine. sometime much too good
but play, back and menu is only reacting sometimes for me.
and thats the second player i have. had the same prob with the first and got a new one from the vendor.
someone here could help out a little plz? can you all use the play button with the tip of your finger ?Message Edited by washi on 02-23-2005 0:47 AM

• Weird Zen Micro Heaphone Jack Prob

Hi,
I have owned my zen micro for over a year, and love it! Recently, the sound started spitting in and out, so i replaced my headphones. Unfortunately, that didn't work, but I realized that if I press firmly on the heaphone's wire, and wrap it around the corner right next to the headphone jack, the sound works ok, as long as i dont move the wire... I have had to get the headphone wire "into position" and then wrap the wire tightly around the micro, or just hold it awkwardly, to get decent sound.
The headphone jack itself seems to be loose. By holding the wire tightly and pulling towards the corner, I seem to be getting the jack back into position. My question is: How do I tighten the jack? I am not an internal tinkerer (i just wrap my headphone wires around it as a solution!), and I dont feel comfortable opening the micro up and trying to tighten it myself. Does anyone know of a way to get this problem fixed?
Thanks!
Mike

The infamous headphone jack problem is quite common with micros. Since creative is aware of this problem they might fix it for you even though you're probably past warranty. get in touch with customer support and see what they can do (mention that it is a common problem!).
If they're not willing to cooperate use the search function in this forum. I remember a guide to soldering the jack in place and one or two other methods.

• Zen Micro & FM Transmitter Prob

I noticed that the Zen Micro does not work well with the I-Ri'ver FM transmitter. The MuVo works fine with this transmitter. What is up with this? I need an FM transmitter that really works, my 2006 car does not offer a cassette deck just CD.

I can't see why there would be a difference. What do you mean "does not work well"?

• Zen micro cd installation prob

hi i recently purchased a zen micro. when i try to install the software from the cd i pick the region and the language and then an error comes up saying the "demoshield player has encountered a problem and needs to close". this happens evry time and i have tried it on 2 differernt computers. has anyone experienced this and how did you fix it's

You can try downloading each individual piece of software required from the download page instead. You need the following:
. Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03
2. Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2
3. Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource
Install . then connect the player to the PC. Then install 2 (which needs the player connected for verification) followed by 3.
You can also download Zen Micro Media Explorer as well.

You will need the playforsure firmware for vista to recognize the Micro. You will need to update the firmware from a machine with windows XP. Then vista will recognize the your Micro. If your player has the old firmware there is no way to?update it in Vista.?

• ZEN Micro Touch

Is it normal to have to push really hard on a the touchpad on a zen micro to get it to work or is there something wrong with my unit's

hmm, that doesn't sound good... the touchpad really should operate with just a very light stroke of the finger or thumb, or at least mine does!.... it may be worth getting it swapped, as if you are having to really push it hard that is not good!!!
