Zen Micro:transfer file er

I finally got to exchanging my micro due to the problems with the headphone jack and when I plug the new micro into my computer to transfer tracks I had on the previous micro the message "Unable to read file, file may be in use, corrupted or lost" has popped up for almost every single track. At first I thought it was just for the songs I had downloaded off the internet but then the tracks which I had burned off cd's showed the same message. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Do you have the same firmware on the new ZM as on the old one?
That could cause such a problem, theoretically.
Cheers,
Jan.

  • Zen Micro Transfer Files Problem.

Hello, Ive had this Zen Micro for about 3 weeks already, perhaps even a month or so.
The music on it is fine and whatnot, the thing that is happening now is that whenever I try to upload music to it, the song doesnt even get to start loading, it just says..."Pending", and then it reads as, "Failed". This has occurred more than once already. Ive already uninstalled everything and have installed it all over again twice now, and still same problem.
Now, with Window Media Player, it used to work, but then exactly when Media Explorer stopped working, so did WMP.
It gave me this as an error: 8004200C
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank You.

Have you tried a disk cleanup from rescue mode?

  • ZEN MICRO - WMA files transferred but without title

I used creative media explorer to transfer .wma files to the Zen Micro. Files are transferred?but theres no title for any of them. In details of each clip, ony the length of the clip is there. No album name, no title, no artist.
    ?Why could that be ?

Do the files have id tags?Go to the My Music folder & check that the files are tagged.

  • Zen Micro - transfer lock ups with latest firmwa

I've been trying to transfer mp3 files to my firmware upgraded Zen Micro and find that the transfer slows down and then locks the player after 30-40 files have successfully copied. This happens with ..0 and 2.2.02 firmwares.
The player will then remain in a 'acti've' docked state (black arrows) until the battery is removed. After this lock up tags on the mp3 files are messed up and display Chinese looking characters in the Details View.
This happens on two different computers with USB2.0, one Intel based and the other AMD.
Two questions - anyone know if this is a known issue being worked on for an imminent firmware update? And secondly - is the problem aggravated (or even created) because I am trying to copy files over from a directory tree (mp3's sorted into artist/album/ folders) rather than one flat folder with all mp3s in it (ie. in one single folder).

I'd try transferring fewer files at a time and see if that works.
You might be on to something with copying from a directory tree too. See if transferring the files in smaller groups from one folder helps out.
You can always organize the artists/albums later in Zen Micro Media Explorer or Creative MediaSource.

  • Creative zen micro transfer prob

When using Napster to transfer songs to my zen micro mp3 player the following happens.
License storgae is not working.Contact microsoft product support.
When I hit click here for more information nothing happens.
It has worked previously without any problems! Can anybody help??

Here is a list of things to check:
) Confirm you have Windows Media Player 0 installed on your XP SP or later system.
    2) Confirm your Zen Micro has the latest 2.x firmware (2..02 Beta or later). The .x firmware does not support N2G. Download the 2..02 Beta firmware from http://us.creative.com/support/downloads
    3) Confirm KB8922 "Update for Windows Media Digital Rights Management-enabled players" is installed on your XP SP or later system with WMP 0. See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;8922 for details.
    4) Confirm your Zen Micro's system time is synched to the system time of your computer.
    5) Confirm XP and the Napster client recognize your Zen Micro is connected. It should display under the "Portable Device" object in the "Library" window of the Napster client. The Zen Micro Display should read "Docked". See if you can transfer files using WMP 0. Confirm the Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer version .00. ( http://us.creative.com/support/downloads ) can access your Zen Micro. Can it transfer tracks to the device?
    6) Confirm your firewall is not interfering with the connection to Napster or to the internet for current date and time. Consider disabling firewall, Antivirus, and Spyware Scanners as a diagnostic step to troubleshoot your transfer issue.
    7) Consider reinstalling Windows Media Player 0 and KB8922.
    8) Check the USB cable connection. Determine the USB chipset on your system. There are forum threads where users resolved transfer problems by installing a new USB Adapter with a different chipset or determined the problem was the USB cable. You can also troubleshoot by attempting the transfer on another computer (if available).

  • Real Player Zen Micro Transfer Quest

I have some files I purchased a number of years ago via Real Player. They have an .rax extension and when I try and transfer them to the Micro I get an incompatable format message. I was just wondering if anybody knows a way to transfer these files to the Micro. Thanks for any help.

I find it very clunky. I had written syncing software for the IAudio , unfortunately the Zen Micro uses a proprietary driver that it uses to recognize the player. I?m guessing I will be able to use the SDK from Windows Media Player 0 to recognize the device but what a pain. It should just be recognized as a USB storage device. Anyways my real problem is that the transfer speed seems very slow to me. I?ve tried Windows Media Player, Creative MediaSource Organizer, and the Zen Explorer and all of them have disappointing speeds. Has anyone else noticed this? I?m running with firmware .02.05.
The transfer speeds should be much faster if you use one of the MTP firmwares (2.xx). Also, are you using USB 2.0?

  • ZenCast + Zen Micro - Transfer Er

I always get a "Error: General error" message from Sync Manager or ZenCast when trying to transfer any podcast. I just downloaded ZenCast and it always produces this error. I upgrade the firmware and Windows driver to the latest version available today, but the ZenCast error persists. Other SW (WMP, Yahoo) can still transfer files to the Zen. Anyone know what's going on here?

Hi, did you work out what the problem was? As i have a similar thing with some downloaded tracks but not others....

  • Zen Micro transfer probl

At first I thought it was Napster, but...
When I try to transfer to my Zen Micro from Napster To Go, I get errors and have to ctrl-alt-del Napster. So I went to Creative MediaSource Organizer and tried to transfer from there... the same thing happens. I get errors and have to ctrl-alt-del. I can transfer the first few songs, but the transfer is VERY slow, and I eventually get the errors again.
I've tried reinstalling *everything*, including formatting my Micro and reinstalling the firmware and drivers. Has anyone had a problem with this? Is there some setting I should change on my computer?

  • Zen Micro Transfer Sti

    Hi Everyone,
Can anyone help me with a really frustrating problem I am having with transfering from my notebook to my Micro?
I peridoically get a CD that I can partly rip to my Micro then every now and then (usually on exactly the same track) the rip will freeze at xyz% which is really frustrating because I listen to classical music and it often breaks a piece up!
Also, does anyone know how to get MS Media player to recognize my Zen Micros because I prefer Media Player to the zen software (sorry Creative but thats how I feel)
    Tia
    Jonathan

To see what firmware you are running, just select System from the Menu, then choose Information. This will show you your firmware version, how much disk space you have left on the device, etc.

  • Zen Micro won't transfer files, Creative are not helping

I have had my Zen Micro since early January (bought from Amazon.co.uk) and it has been fine until a couple of weeks ago. One day I plugged it into the computer to put some more music on there and it came up with the dreaded message "Player is not connected". Since then, every time I try to transfer files across, it will come up with this same message. Once I managed to get one song across, then got the message, but now it won't let me transfer at all.
I have contacted Creative Support, and explained what happens. I have tried everything they suggest (different USB cable, uninstall/re-install software, download new 4.00.8 driver, disable anti-virus software, different PC, disk clean-up, etc.) yet it still does not want to work! I keep replying to Support telling them this, but the person at the other end is really not helping the situation at all. So far he has told me to do all of the above THREE times, even after I've told him very clearly that they don't make a difference. I'm now convinced I will never get this player sorted out.
Why won't they issue me with an RMA? Surely we've run out of options by now? I am getting extremely fed up with the whole thing, and right now I don't even feel like replying again because I know I won't get any help
P.S. All this has been tried on both WinME and XP.

Claire does this mean you have tried it on different machines?
Qoute "P.S. All this has been tried on both WinME and XP"
If so than it may be a hardware problem.
Get some ad-aware programs as something maybe restricting you use of the USB ports. AdawareSE is very good.
Right click on my computer on the desk top, goto properties and click the Hardware tab
    <IMG src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v470/johnnyjudge/Slide.jpg">
    Click on Device Manager,
Scroll down and click on Uni'veral Serial Bus Controllers, of course with your Micro plugged in look for it. Right click the on the device and goto properties, and see does it denote the devcie is wotrking properly and are there any drivers assigned to it. If so what them drivers are.

  • Zen micro file transfer error and playing mista

My Zen Micro 5GB had some problems wih the sound:sometimes, listening to a song, I heard (more orless) a second of another song but after that isreturned to the selected one. This is not the only problem: sometimes, whentransferring data between a PC and the player'sstorage dri've (2GB) it stops after a while. When transferring music from the player to the PCusing Music Organizer the PC receives some musicbut after a while it stops and displays amessage 'Cannot transfer file: file not found';after this, the player remains 'busy' also if youclose all the programs opened. I tried to fix this in many ways I installed the version 2.x firmware, so Icould re-install the latest .x version.2) I learned how to access the recovery functionsand I tried all of themBut after all this, it continues to display theerror message and I think sometimes it could stopplaying the song I'm listenig to and play asecond of another one.

all the songs are mp3 format
the transfer window pops up, the status will say writing for about 5sec. then the error comes up and says unable to create file - restart player and try again.
but then the player has the acti've docked logo on, which you aren't supposed to unplug from the computer when that's on, but it will not go off. I've left it for hours and ended up unplugging it anyway. So I've restarted it, pulled the batter and retried that a few times too.
    Any ideas?
    thanks for your help

  • Media Source - 'file of this name already exists' transfering tracks from Zen Micro to

I've come home for the weekend, and I'm trying to transfer a few albums from my Zen Micro to my Mum's PC for her. Normally this works fine, but for some reason today I keep getting the message 'A file of this name already exists' for about 80% of the tracks I try to transfer. One or two tracks from each album will work and the rest will fail.
These are new tracks and they definitely aren't already in her music library - I've double checked the C dri've too.
I'm given the option to overwrite the exisiting tracks, so I gave that a try with one album, but the tracks still aren't didn't show on there once I'd transfered, despite the track number not going up, so god knows what's been overwritten with those!
    Can anyone help?
    Cheers!

Your firmware is not the PlaysForSure version.
Anyway, I just want to make sure that you have set up the directory and file naming convention correctly for MediaSource. Here is what you should do:
    - Launch Creative MediaSource Oragnizer.
    - Go to Tools->Settings->PC Music Library and click Properties. Set your preferred folder and file naming convention. Close the setting page.
    - In the Sources window, click to view PC Music Library.
    - Go to View->Right Panel View and select to view your MP3 player.
    - Transfer the tracks from your MP3 player to MediaSource's PC Music Library by clicking the arrow pointing from right to left.
    - If you have updated the track information of the tracks in your MP3 player, the updated track information will also be imported into the PC Music Library database. However, the tags of the files are not updated. Here is what you need to do. Right click the PC Music Library node in the Sources window or right click on any tracks in the PC Music Library window and select "Update Tag". This will update the tag of all the tracks or the selected tracks with the track information as seen in the PC Music Library.

  • ZEN MICRO: How to save files (to my harddi

    Hi everyone!
I would like to install most recent firmware for my ZEN MICRO.
Creative strongly recommends, to save all data (here: music files) beforehand.
    But how?
I should let you know, that most of the music (around 350 files) has been filed under"Albums", that I have created by myself by means of the Creative MediaSource Organizer, where I "overwrited" the original Album Name of the music file and gave them my individual sequence of tracks within "my" albums.
I have tried it once before:
When I save the files to my computer and copy them to my ZEN thereafter, all of my individual markings (such as Albums, sequence of tracks etc.) were "lost".
If it only would be20 files, I could re-name them without greater effort, but with around 350 files I do not dare to do that again!!
    Any idea, any help?
    Thanks&Regards
