Zen micro two short questions

Hi all,
two questoins.: Can you use the zen micro with the mtp firmware an a pc without the media player 0?( like a usb-device)
What does mtp stand for?
Thank you

No, you'll need to use Windows Media Player, it doesn't show up as a dri've in that sense.
MTP stands for Media Transfer Protocol, you can read more on it here.

  • N95-3 two short questions

Hi, yesterday received my new unlocked N95-3 (bronze, like it more than black). But I have two short questions:
    1. Is there anyway to end a call closing the slider? In my N80ie when I close the slider it ends the call (N80 is intelligent enough to know that if it is a BT headset connected closing the slider not end the call...).
    2. In Forum Nokia N95-3 specifications under Extra Features it´s listed PoC (Push To Talk over Cellular), in my N80 the feature is under "connectivity", but in my N95 where is the feature, I cannot find it...
    Thanks in advance.

Right Darla, noticed that, but sinces Windows Live client still works don´t need for this one.
By the way, my device arrived yesterday, so I don´t have much time to play with it, but, I could guess that after installed Y-Brownser if I make a search surely will find the PTT executable...
Right now, the much missed feature to me is the chance to end a call closing the slider as in my N80ie (yeah, just today forgot it and ended up with a 20 minutes call...in my pocket, and yeah, with my girlfriend, lucky me I was driving alone and not talking with anybody). And sure perfect world if I could have the N80 screen resolution in N95 screen size...
Last issue, with the N80 when I press the middle of the volume button of my BH-800 headset it mutes the line, anoying thing this don´t seems to work with N95...

  • Zen Micro - two more problems...... oye

So last week I received my replacement Zen Micro (the headphone jack was faulty in the old one..... etc etc).
Since the new one arri'ved, I've had two problems:
)There is a constant ringing coming out of the player when it is switched on, like a buzzing noise.....
2)Today while flicking to a track, it crashed like a computer. The screen froze and I couldn't do anything with it, had to remove the battery.
Anyone have any clues wat I should do? Besides going back 4 months and buying an iRi'ver instead.....

I have had it alright with my player after I used clean up and reloaded the firmware, But last night, just got in, Took my player out of my pocket to turn it off. Switched the power button from hold to turn it off. But when I moved the button the player still said it was locked. I moved the button back to locked, and then back again, but still nothing. Once again I had to remove the battery.
Creative make the removable battery a selling point, but in fact its the only way to turn the bloody thing off sometimes. And the only reason I don't send it back is because I will never get a replacement by the time I go on holiday. But once again it seems fine, but I'm just waiting for the next crappy thing to happen.
oh, and I left it on pause today in my pocket, (only for a minute) then when I pressed play on my remote nothing happened. So I checked the player to find that top half of the screen was black and the bottom was white. And guess how you fix it's ....... that's right you have to take the battery out. Its random stuff like this I put I with day to day which I don't think I shouldn't be doing. I know everything has a bug or to in it, but this just getting out of hand. I don't like to go on, and At the start when I go my player I was fine, and I was happy with it. But now only after a week or two, its turned in to a player from hell. Once I'm back in the UK I might have to send it back. The thing is driving me mad.
I don't know, I just feel let down

  • Two short questions on timecode

    Hello,
I've got two short ones on timecode.
    1) These days, I get quite a lot of HDV tapes. Since most of my other footage is shot on DV, I convert HDV to DV. However, when capturing that footage, I do get lots and lots of timecode breaks (I capture whole tapes), but the TC seems to be fine in the HDV player (Sony HVR-ME10). Does anybody else find that HDV tapes have TC breaks?
    2) Totally unrelated, I just read that using Capture Now means that FCP ignores the TC that is on the tape and creates its own on. Is that true? Or is it true only when I choose Device Settings>Non-Controllable Device? I'm just curious, and also it could one day get me in trouble....
If anyone has any thoughts on these two questions, I'd be thankful.
And now the best part of the day: LUNCHBREAK!!!
    Cheers,

It all depends on the project. I have a client who will mark up a transcription of an interview, numbering sections in the intended order. I zip thru the clip putting in markers, naming them with the appropriate numbers (and marking an out for the marker - a very useful feature). I simply turn the markers into subclips (by dragging them into another bin), do a sort by name and drag to the timeline. Very, very fast.
Oh and a hint. If you're intending to do a numeric sort, always add leading zeros to your clip names (if you have 99 clips, make sure 1 thur 9 are number 01 - 09 - if you have a 100 to 999 clips, make sure you add another leading zero).
FCP has many, many possible workflows. In my old avid days, I used to obsess about figuring out the fastest way to do things. Now, I concentrate more on doing the creative stuff. But everyonceinawhile, I do have a aha! moment.

  • Two short questions on Interactive reports

    Hello,
I have two questions on passing filter to an Interative report
    1) the text that I send to the filter can contain commas. Is it possible to work around this? (comma is interpreted as splitting the filter values)
    e.g. f?p=104:19:::NO:19,RIR:IR_BUS1_NAME,IR_IS_OPEN:*Corporate, Other and Eliminations*,Yes
    %2C%20other%20and%20eliminations,No,Yes
--> in this case it get messed up when passing to the IR page.
    2) anyone know if it is possible to send a IN parameter to an interactive report?
    Brgds
    Christian

1 \value\ should do the trick
2 Yes, I think so (only done it with ordinary reports and too lazy to check right now!).
Build your string of value1,value2.. in an item then use the &ITEM. syntax in the SQL

  • Synching my Zen Micro: two glitc

I'm new both to posting on a forum and to MP3 players, so please be patient with me!
I'd like advice on two problems that even Creative's telephone and email support staff haven't been able to help me resolve...
    a) Why, when I change the order of tracks in a playlist in Creative MediaSource Organiser on my PC, they don't reorder on the player when I sync it (from PC to player)
    b) Why, when I've removed tracks on the fly using the Delete Track option on the player, the tracks are not deleted from the PC when I sync (from player to PC)
As I'm a bit of a novice, I'd really like to continue using Creative MediaSource Organiser for synching tasks, if possible, but I note that some people recommend Nomadsync. Would someone be able to explain simply how it works and whether I'd need to transfer tracks over from the Creative database to the Nomad database in order to use it's Would it sort out these two glitches? I'd just like to be able to sync freely without worrying that I was reloading deleted tracks or reorganising previously organised playlists!
Thanks in anticipation of some easy-to-understand assistance!

Thanks for that sppedy feedback. That's a really good idea -- I've just reset the player to Shuffle in Play Mode -- sorted! As for my other question, I guess I can avoid reloading all the irritating, unloved tracks that I deleted from my player by just selecting only the new album that I want to sync from PC to player rather than do a 'sync all', can't I?Message Edited by GillW on 09-08-2006 03:08 AM

  • Zen Micro with WMP 10 tutor

I now have the newest firmware and I have a simple enough system for transferring mp3s to the Zen Micro using Windows Explorer and the Zen Media Explorer. I like that the 2.x firmware lets me drag folders onto the player and it keeps the folders and sub folders intact. I use the Zen Media Explorer only to make playlists with the "organize music in device" function instead of the less flexible "create a new playlist in device" function
I was hoping to not need to use ANY Creative software at all after installing the new firmware but that hasn't happened yet because although I like WMP0 allot for playing videos and ripping CDs I have yet to figure out how to use it efficiently with the Zen Micro.
I kinda figured out how to get music onto the player (unfortunately this doesn't make folders on the player like if I do it through Windows Explorer) but I still have NO CLUE how to easily make and name playlists and THEN put those playlists onto the Zen Micro. ?
QUESTION: Is there a tutorial online somewhere that explains the use of WMP0 with the Zen Micro?
I have no use for any synching or stuff like that. I just want to dump files onto the player and make playlists of those files.

Windows Media Player 0 help files are very well done, and perhaps your answer is in there...
But as for folder creation: WMP0 arranges your music as Artist\Album\Song.mp3, doesn't matter how you have it structured on your computer, WMP0 will arrange it like that. If you use Windows Explorer then it will keep the same arrangement as your computer, like you already know.
Despite this arrangement, if you still want WMP0 to make folders on your player then:
    Connect the Micro
    Open up WMP0
    Click on Tools-> Options
    Click on Devices tab
Select your player and click Properties
Under the Synchronization tab check the box for <i>Create folder hierarchy on device</i>
As for playlist creation, WMP0 will only transfer playlists using the Auto-sync options. If you select which songs to transfer over then it will not transfer that playlist, just the songs inside it. To make a playlist you will have to use Zen Media Explorer, or whatever program that supports it like Media Source, or even make them manually on the player itself.

  • I Thought The Zen Micro Came With The AC Adapter

I bought a zen micro two days ago, and I was suprised that I didnt find an AC adapter after reading a couple of reviews saying that came with them. Does anyone have a link to one? I will only buy a creative product. I dont want aftermarket. Thanks in advance

Newer Zen Micros don't come with the AC adapter; mine didn't. (Creative took it out as a cost-cutting measure when they reduced its MSRP, though you might still be able to find units with the charger, especially at Wal-Mart if the reports here are correct.) You can charge it with your PC and the USB cable, or buy a charger; Creative's charger is sold at this site's shop for $29.99 plus $2.99 S&H (see the link from the guy who posted just ahead of me).
I see you only want the Creative charger, but just for reference, I understand aftermarket chargers for most Blackberrys, or Motorola MPx200 or RAZR V3 phones, will work with the Zen Micro; they all charge thru a USB mini-B port. (Of course, I'm not responsible if an aftermarket charger damages your player.)

  • Zen Micro and Tech Supp

Hi?I have been unable to get Tech Support to answer my questions about the?instructions they send. If you have had the problem with?Zen Micro not being recognized by the PC, perhaps you can tell me what I am doing wrong. Below are tne instructions and my questions. Any thoughts or recommendations are appreciated. TS said - Update the Driver in Device Manager.
Using the Have Disk option, point the location to C\WINDOWS\INF on your system directory by default.. My Questions:. If I do this, will it find the downloaded software no matter where it is saved on the computer? I currently have it saved in a file on the desktop? Should I save it somewhere else instead?2. Can I just (a) download the software, (b) save it to my computer, and (c) run Update Driver? Or do I have to run the software between steps (b) and (c)? Will Update Driver recognize the dowloaded files if they have not already been executed?TS said -

    - Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update (48.24 MB)
ZENM_PCAPP_LB_MTP_PDE.exe (Media Explorer)?I downloaded these files and ran the first 3. The last one aborted because it did not recognize the Zen Micro. My Questions:3. Is there any way for me to tell which of these files are installed properly?4. If the files are not installed properly, do they have to be uninstalled before I try again? Are there any special cleanup instructions that I should follow when I try to uninstall?Any help would be appreciated.

I found that if you convert your zen micro into a removable hard dri've the 360 will recognize it. To listen to the music you have to connect the micro the PC as a removable hard dri've and store music into it in this format. That is, go to your music files, highlight the songs you want and copy. Copy the files to My computer and look for removable dri've icon. Then connect the micro to the 360 as a removable hard dri've and it should detected. Hope this hel
    ps.

  • Travel Dock Zen Micro Question

    Hello everyone,
For my holiday I want to buy a set of speakers for my Zen Micro 6GB. I looked around a little bit and found a couple of speakersets. One of them is the Zen Micro traveldock. It looks great and its very clever made with all its features. But now I have some questions about this:
    1. Can I charge my Zen Micro with the Travel Dock without the USB-connection, so only the DC-connector ? Because in the description at the Dutch Creatice site it`s not very clear, there they wrote down that you can charge the Zen when you connect the travel dock to a USB-device, so i`m not sure you can do it with the DC only ?
    2. Is the soundquality good ? Well, everybody has something different to say about it, but in general you can say something about it. Is it bad, normal or good ? And is the volume power a little bit good ?

My Micro is playing in the TravelDock as I write this. And I can confirm that the lid does close with the Micro in place. The unit has a good sound. I've got it full volume right now. There is no deep bass, but again, these are .5 inch speakers. I will try a powered subwoofer I have with the unit later. There is enough power to fill an average size room or to enjoy the music outside. There is a switch that alters the sound field from narrow to wide. The effect is noticeable if you are listening for it. The connection between the TravelDock and the Micro is easy to make and the Micro sits very securely in the dock. The lid works as desktop stand as well and is held in place by two rubber grippers that are rather stiff and needed some coaxing to work. I will expect these will loosen with use. The documentation on Creative's website says the TravelDock doesn't include batteries, but mine did have 4 Eveready alkalines in the box.
Not too many people have seen the MicroPhoto yet, but apparently it is not exactly the same size as the Micro. There is a small rubber self adhesi've spacer included with the TravelDock. The manual says this small spacer needs to be inserted into the dock if you plug in a MicroPhoto, So, I'm guessing the MicroPhoto is a few millimeters thinner than the Micro. Is that right?

  • Some questions about the correct way to recharge the zen micro batt

Ok..i don't think this is convered in the FAQs.
I copied this from the FAQ----At the present moment, the only possible way to avoid the standby loss is removing the battery after you finish listening to music. Gi'ven the wear and tear resulting, this is not really an option. It will help, though, if you prime your battery correctly, recharge it often (topping it up, not only resorting to full recharges),
    Ok...my question--
) to preserve battery life span, shouldn't we wait for the player to die off complete, for example when it starts to display "low battery" before we recharge it's Does this post mean that we shouldn't actually wait for the battery to be complete;y drained off before a recharge? Does it mean we should always recharge, say when there's one bar left?
    2) Before doing any music transfer using the computer, should we always make sure the zen micro was fully charged first before the transfer since USB port also serves as a charger. I tried using a completely drained player before music transfer and the player stops charging after 3 hours, which shouldn't be the case because USB always take a longer time to charge (i was told twice as much) and true enough, after deplugging from the USB port, the player starts charging again. Note that this always happen, meaning i can never get a complete 5 hours charge using the USB. What is wrong? And after such charge from USB, i noticed that the battery life the next day is like one third of what it usually last when i charged it through a charger...
I know this is a long post but can someone tell me the correct way of charging?
    Thanxs!

This is from JazzMC's FAQ right? (I added a link to this a day or two ago from the main FAQ post) I hadn't spotted this before and I don't agree with most of this. The wear and tear is minimal, but it's more a case of practicality that removing the battery is a pain. Also priming is not really that important with Lithium Ion, and topping up won't make any difference to the battery drain.

Look in my Nomad Primer, which is essentially a distilled version of the information from BatteryUni'versity.com. Top-up charges prolong the life of a Lithium Ion battery. These are all reference in the FAQ.

Because of the Micro's design there will always be a difference in the amount of power it can pull via USB vs. the drain when copying files to it. USB is slower to charge than the mains adapter, but it should charge fully given time (which could be twice as much as using the mains adapter).
There is a known issue with the battery draining on the Micro, but you should know this having read JazzMC's page. This is the reason the battery is so low the next day.

  • [Zen Micro]Questions about the Firmw

    Hello,
I have some questions about the firmware of the Zen Micro
. Can I use the Zen Micro without any Software (MediaSource?) on my PC (winXP) when im using the Firmware Creative Zen Micro *PlaysForSure/MTP Firmware 2.00.2 ? This means that i copy my Music only by drag&drop from the Explorer after my Computer has detected the Zen Micro as a Removable Disk!
    2. I know that the Zen Micro has two parts with the Normal Firmware. The "Removable Disk" Part and the "Playable" Part which can only used by the Software! But what happens if my . question is right. How can i seperate this two parts?
    Thanks for answers

I don't have the 2.x firmware, but I think I'm correct in saying this :
with the 2.x firmware, your Micro becomes an MTP compatible device, which can be recognized on PCs having an MTP compatible OS (operating system). For the moment, the only OS that fits the bill to my knowledge, is Win XP with Windows Media Player 0. In this combination of MTP device + MTP OS, you don't need to install other drivers, and you can do drag and drop
BUT ! The 2.x firmware doesn't make your device a "removable disc" in the traditional sense of the word. It doesn't become a file system, like a USB memory stick.
I hope I was clear enough to see the difference :-)Message Edited by fred_be9300 on 04-03-2005 02:52 AM

  • Questions about the zen micro leather case???

    hey everyone,
i saw the pictures of the zen micro leather case in the US store and was going to get them until i heard that the case is quite useless and annoying with the two-way flap open. Do you still think i should get them or a diiferent one(im DESPERATE to get one!!)
    thanks everyone.

There are several designs out there including... the flexi-skin (at Boxwave.com as well as eBay), Noreve's, Krussell's?and Vaja. It really comes down to what you want from a case. I've gone for a flexi-skin as I want easy access to the controls, and I kept my screen protector (but screen protectors are easy enough to buy).

  • Newbie here...some Zen Micro questions/suggestio

Hi im new Okay i have some questions for y'all:
Will having only usb .0 work for a zen micro? I have a n200 and it works fine, just wondering if the micro will work on my computer too.
Yes, I recently ordered a Zen Micro. Unfortunately that was before i came to this forum, and after witnessing that massi've 08 page headphone jack thread, I'm getting very worried. Are there any people out there who are satisfied with the micro? If you have problems, don't reply with a MICRO SUX0RZ **bleep** THE MICRO. I need some feel-good stories!
And one quick final clarification about the headphone jack problems: Is the problem actually fixed in the later shipments of the zen micro? I'm pretty sure mine will be a later model since it's not going to come with a wall charger, but I haven't been able to find a definiti've answer for it. Is there anyone out there who've never had this problem? again, that stupid 08page thread
    Thanks!

got my zen micro5gb as a gift, loaded this thing with everything indie... started to notice if i moved a little bit the music would cut out and it would be music distorted, without the vocal, another movement and its all back. so i figured it was bad headphones, the zen ones hurt youre ears. so i bought jvc buds $22 nyc bargain, they work great, then suddenly same thing..in and out so i got a rma and sent it , next thing i know now i have a 6 gig nice right, i charge it up and here i am sitting here the darn thing isnt being connected by my computer, i cant load music on or anything, so im figuring buy another usb. - 2.0 cord. i've already written a letter in, i dont see why there isnt 24hr help, alot of products to offer and not enough help. 2 days for an email reply, ha.. i can buy a new one in that time. -mc
