Zen Micro/ Vista / Organi

I have downloaded the organiser for Vista, however I cannot see the songs in the Playing Lists, I can add songs in them but I cannot see them in order to arrange the songs. I was able to do that previously with the Media Explorer. Any clues?

hey,?I've got the same problem. The computer says my mp3 player isn't connected and when?I try to start the instalation from the cd I've got he says I've got to have a compatibible version... but in the list on this site it says there is a nati've support...so, that doens't help me... (I don't fully understand what a nati've support means)
I hope someone knows how to solve this problem..

You will need the playforsure firmware for vista to recognize the Micro. You will need to update the firmware from a machine with windows XP. Then vista will recognize the your Micro. If your player has the old firmware there is no way to?update it in Vista.?

  • Zen Micro Vista Driv

Hi,?Sorry if I have missed this information elsewhere... I have had my Zen Micro for about two years, with no problems. Now that I have a new PC with Vista on it, it won't detect my Zen and won't allow me to install MediaSource. I have looked round this sight for new Zen Micro drivers but can't find any. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Thanks for the tip! It helped me with my old Zen Micro on Windows Vista. The device was?recognized?but Windows still couldn't find the driver?despite being?installed from Creative support site. Also the battery seemed not to?charge for some reason. Once I upgraded?device firmware to 2.2?using machine with Windows XP, it'swas immediately recognized, synched and charged on Vista as well. Thanks again.

  • Zen Micro Vista Incompatibility even with updated firmw

I own 3 zen micros which are now useless with Windows Vista for lack of driver.
Your discussion forum moderators are wrong and are misleading many complainers by telling them that
Driver is nati've in vista as long as firmware has been upgrade on an xp computer to playforsure firmware 2.2.02
All of my zen micros have been updated to 2.2.02 firmware, and vista still will not recognize. Vista says ?unknown usb device and needs driver?. I tried XP drivers and they also do not work. Again, your moderators are?giving wrong information.
I demand an answer to this incompatibility problem. I am ready to start posting as many places as I can, ?a warning to stay away from purchasing Creative products for lack of support and why.
This is totally unacceptable Creative support. I will start posting if I do not get a fix or receive no answer.
    You will lose business.

:smileyvery-happy: dude i have the Zen micro and all i did was plug it in and it was good to go. I have no idea what you are doing wrong. I am sure you don't have the playforsure firmware on the micro. Don't you find it strange that you are the only one complaining about this?

  • Zen Micro Vista Compatib

So, here's my problem. I just got a new laptop with Windows Vista installed on it. (home premium that really matters.) and I want to install my Zen Micro 5GB player. I started off by using the installation disc, which did **bleep** all. Then came on here, and downloaded MediaSource 5 which is "compatible with Vista" that didn't work either.. it said it could not find any compatible devices. So I installed the MediaSource 5 plugin, but it said that I needed to Install mediasource 5 first. So, what the hell is up Is this going to work with vista or not Because right about now I feel like going out and buying an iPod.

How is it responding now, have you rebooted the system since then or has the installer stopped giving that message? Is the player recognised correctly on the system? Can you access it in for instance Windows Media Player? If it works there, then the update should have completed and it should be fine on Windows Vista too.

  • Zen Micro Vista is

My Zen Micro has firmware version 2.20.05. I want to be able to use it and?its related player software on my Vista machine. I downloaded the latest Creative MediaSource setup file but when I try to run it'sthe CMS5 Web Installer InstallSheild Wizard always stops with the message saying "Setup is unable to find a supported product on your system", whether my player is connected to the pc or not. I realize my firmware is not the absolute latest for the Micro, but it is version 2.xxxxx, apparently with the MTP technology, and from what I understand that's what kind of firmware the Micro has to have to work with Vista. So what's the problem, what's up with the setup saying its unable to find a supported product on the system? What do I need to do?

Have you tried installing the software while the player is plugged into the computer?

  • Windows Vista vs Zen Micro: Software Problems

    Hey guys,
Looking for a little help and this seems to be the right place to get, lots of helpful people!I have a 3 year old Zen Micro, 4/5Gb I think and it worked fine with my old Dell laptop which ran XP, I used to drag and drop mpg files easily with the bundled software, all was well. Back in January the Dell laptop reached the end of it's life and I layed my hands on a new Sony Vaio laptop, running the all singing, all dancing brand new shiney Windows Vista. For whatever reason, I had no need for the MP3 player for most of this this summer and now I've come to need it again and it obviously needs updating (all my music is 6 months out of date) and it seems I've lost the original software disc, bummer. So I downloaded the ZenCast Organiser & Sync software off the Creative site as it said it ran withVista and plug in the Micro and .........nothing.
The Sync manager thing just says that there's no player attatched and it won't hook up. Am I missing something? Do I need another driver for it'sor something I've had a look through this site and all. I seem to be able to find is what I've already downloaded. Help!

ow stupid is this though! Why aren't Creative releasing any updates to allow older players to work on new machines?!
Well they are releasing updates, the trouble is you need the old OS to apply them. I suspect there's technical reasons for updates not working on newer OS's. After all Creative couldn't anticipate Vista problems when making older devices (Vista wouldn't have been on hand to test at the time).
BTW Firmware upgrades can be found here (UK version)

  • For all those ZEN MICRO fans who cant get their player working on VISTA - THIS WO

Listen guys.... I dont know who knows what on here but I thought I might share my knowledge (not that I have much )
I have a ZEN Micro player that would not work on VISTA
After a number of attempts and advice from people - I finally got it to work...
YOU DONT HAVE TO UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE
I was going to upgrade but the thing is I run XP and vista and I wanted my MP3 player to be used on both and I also heard that once upgraded then you cannot undo...
I explored my CD installation folder and rightclicked (whilst in VISTA) and went to properties
Once in properties I then clicked the Compatibility tab.
Then I clicked the box which states "run in XP compatibility mode"
It took a while then recognised what I wanted then I clicked apply.
Then I double clicked on the setup application and it run as per usual.
This does work!! Thankgod I didnt upgrade firmware
Thanks everyone on here who has helped me too I just thought I'd pay some people back in return :smileytongue:

  • Organizing Zen Micro

I purchased a Zen Micro (my first MP3 player) over the weekend. I've loaded quite a few files, and now I want to make sure I don't end up with a mess of thousands of tunes with no organization. Can someone give some guidance on how to manage playlists etc so that I can keep the Micro organized?
For example, I just ripped a 20 track CD using the MediaSource Organizer. All MP3's ended up under the album "Recordings" even though it knew the album name. I thought that it would have kept the album name on the Micro. Am I doing something wrong?
Is it a good idea to group each CD under its own playlist? Can I do this automatically as I rip my CDs?
    Etc, etc...
In other words, I'm looking for advice on setting up a sensible structure on the Micro...
    Thanks
    Derek
    ps.
I really struggled with the QuickTime 7 problem on install. I found the problem after about four hours with the debugger, but I sure wish I had found this forum and the sticky notification first

The key thing with the Micro as far as organisation goes is making sure the tracks have tag data. See my Nomad Primer for more on this.
An album shouldn't end up under recordings, so I'm not sure what happened there. Unless the album name got confused.
There's no need to rip CDs to a playlist. You have album and artist categories in the player's music library.

  • Mp3 Player not detected in Vista ,I need drivers for Creative Zen Micro in Windows Vista 32-b

Hi ,?Im trying to install my Creative Zen Micro in windows Vista , But A Compatibility Problem appear and i can't install it .Windows Show me that a new hardware is found? and what i have to do , i Install it with the CD , but The installation can't be successful and a message saying me i have to contact Creative Support for the dirvers appear and the installation can't be completed. I've tryied to contact creative suport , but they don't find solution . I've searched the drivers but they wasn't found in creative site web . If anybody Have a solution for install my zen micro or can help me , please ... I have to buy another Mp3 Player ? This have a solution ?Thanks ,i hope that you can help me. Regards

I updated my Firmware as stated by Creative Labs support team. I downloaded on my son's PC which has Window's XP Pro edition. Again, on his PC there is no problem with recognition of the device and/or player. However, when I plug my player into my PC which has Vista, the device manager has a "!" next to ZEN Micro Photo. So my PC "See's" the player. However, when you right click and then go to "Properties" it states that "The drivers for this device are not installed (code 28)" Then it states to "reinstall the drivers" But when I tried to install or reinstall the "Driver" using the install wizard, I get an error message... "An error occurred during the installation of the device" and " A service installation section in this INF is invalid" Then a pop bubble appears and says "Found new hardware" You may have a problem with your device. It may not be working properly" So what do I do at this point. The only way for me currently to download music is to use my son's PC. At least I have another option... I feel sorry for the rest of you. When will creative wake up and smell the Vista!!

  • Zen Micro - Windows Vista HEL

hello,I am attempting to load up my Creative Zen Micro install disc on new pc with Vista.click on the exe file and does nothing except part show the first screen. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks??

i think its time to buy a new player, since they refuse to support old players. they made it clear to me when i was pointed to download a file with trojan worm with it. the name of the file is ZCST_PCAPP_LB__04_06.exe. this is suppose to be the zen organizer for 32 bit vista. installing this will destroy your old player, so that you will buy a new one sooner.

  • Zen micro windows vista dri

my zen is up-to-date firmware 2.2.02?connect it to windows vista 32 bits and windows says it can not find driver?why does this appens since creative says that zen micro is vista compatible.. thanks

    electric_abacus,
Unfortunately there is little I can advise in that case, you will need to update to that firmware from an XP machine. Could you do this on a friend or relati've's PC? Or a PC in work/college/school?
    rhonjay,
If you select your product in the list, and choose XP as your Operating System, it'll show you the available files. The latest PlaysForSure / MTP-compatible firmware update for the Zen Micro is filename ZenMicroP4S_PCFW_L6_2_2_02.exe
You can enter that filename on the Downloads page search, and it'll bring you right to it.

  • Zen Micro and Windows Vista

I am not a techy person, have had a Zen Micro player for many years, only use it on holidays! A couple of years ago had to get a new desk top PC - it has Windows Vista. I'm I right in saying that this is not compatable with the Zen Micro? Last time I uploaded music I did it on someone else's PC but don't have that option now.
Is there anything I can do?

  • Zen Micro and Vista, tried everything, no

I have Vista now, but I've done all this bizarre downloading wriggling to try and make my Zen? Micro Vista-friendly with no success. How about Creative or a 3rd party just writing some simple no fuss software for it. What's the problem? I've just bought a Zen Stone to 'tide me over' but I'm not going to splash out on anything expensi've because Creative aren't going to support it long enough. It's just a fiasco. No point me running through the advised steps again anyway. Anyone here found another way without running all this stuff that doesn't work? I couldn't get the newer firmware to flash, it said something about an application interfering, and I followed the steps advised?when that happens to no avail. One thing I can't afford to do is wipe the memory and start again, as I don't have the Cds I ripped anymore. Ok, I'll calm down now. If anyone has any ideas better than those advised on the site, many thanks in advance.
