Zen Micro, WHAT A SH

6 months in this thing randomly just gets a hardware problem, and i hadn't used it for a while, so its not like I dropped it. Just randomly this thing says it doesn't feel like working. I lost my recipt in a move, so now all is lost. I don't want to pay for a repair, when I can just buy something else that won't die like Creative's stupid stuff does. The worst part is that you guys make it so darn difficult to get it fixed. You guys owe me an Ipod. I'd rather not have the hassel of e-mailing you guys and all that jazz, paying for it to be sent, and then paying for the repair. So silly, this place is not customer geared at all. I wish I knew this before I spent my hard earned money on the player. Oh and Itunes is a way better program aswell.

Could you send me a link because I just dont see it. And I have the 2x version of Zen Micro Media and so far the categories are
Import to Music
Rip Audio Tracks to Device
Organize Music in Device
Create a New Playlists in Device
Sync Music and Outlook Data between PC and Device
Manage Organizer Data in Device
Transfer Data between PC and Device
I don't know if anyone can help me, but so far I've went to "Import to Music". It docks up, but makes no transfer. I'm not sure if I should've went into any of the categories first before going straight to "Import to Music" or if I just clearly need that Mediasource thing. Because I feel like there's a way of importing music on the 2x version without downloading any Mediasource. Anyone with the 2x firmware help. Also I was told to only use the 2x firmware with WMP0, but if that's the case then whats the point of the Zen Micro Media Player and all the categories listed above that comes with it. None of the categories seem to work. Once again, If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. Because I don't know if there's something I just didn't do.

I got a silver one - because it was the last one left in stock...
But if i had a choice of all 0 colors in stock I would have bought a red one - cuz it would just be so different from most mp3 players out there.
    How bout you?

I have the silver zen micro and this was the only color that was available in retail stores in canada ! But the silver is nice. It matches well with the white base and i needed a change from all the white i see on ipods.

  • The light surrounding the zen micro, what is

that outline of light around the micro. does anybody know what kind of light it is or how it works? anyone with any knowledge of this type of lighting that can help would be appreciated. Im looking for a way to make a flexible tube of light if that makes any sense. thanks

If you look at the light when it is really dark out, you can see it originates on the right side of the player. If i had to guess, i would say that they use either some kind of fiber optics (expensi've, so unlikely), or just a molded piece of clear plastic. Most likely it is just clear plastic that allows the light to pass through the entire plastic piece.

I'm not sure which to buy. I tried the both at a store the other day (only the Zen Mirco was charged) and definitely the Zen Micro is easier to hold and seems easier to use (reach the buttons easily without having to move my entire hand and such) Here are some likes/dislikes of mine about them. **The Zen Micro was not color, they did have that there but for the same price I could buy the Zen Sleek.

Recharceable battery isn't manually replaceable like Micro so what happens when the battery doesn't seem to be getting maximum output? Do I send it in for another or do I have to go buy another Sleek?</LI>

So, what do you guys have for players and which one would you recommend?

The other reason I'm not a big fan of the Zen Micro Photo is that color screen is harder to see, even in the store I had some trouble reading some of the words. I also don't have any photos to put onto it.
Oh, another thing that I kinda didn't like about the Zen Micro (and the same would probably apply to the Sleek as well if it was charged) was when I tried scrolling up and then down quickly, the player interpreted it as me tapping the touch pad to select a menu or option. Although I'm sure it's because it was my first time using the touch pad so I wasn't exactly sure how sensiti've it was. After some practice I should get used to it.

  • Zen Micro Calendar feature, how to set up to sync with MS Outlo

    hi,
i finally got my zen micro working, it has fully charged and i have downloaded some songs to it, the sound is great and it's playing the music!!!
i'm now testing the calendar feature. does anyone know or have instructions on how to set up the zen micro to sync with MS Outlook to download the contacts, notes, etc?
    thanks!!!

    thanks Catherine,
i used the cd that came with the zen micro. what i did now is uninstall all creative softeware from my computer. rebooted.
then install the zen software for the micro. rebooted
after that, there was no shortcut to the zen micro explorer, only thing in the shortcut was the product registration.
but i installed the same on a machine that runs Windows 2000 and it installed everything correctly.
whereas the machine that does not work is using windows xp.
would there be a conflict with the zen micro software on a windows xp operating system?
    thanks

  • Creative MediaSource won't recognize my Zen Micro all of the sudden!! What is going o

When I first began using my Zen Micro, Creative MediaSource worked fine. I could start my player and it recognized it right away. Then I was told I had to update my firmware and download an update to MediaSource. I did both but shortly thereafter I started having problems! Primarily, when i plug in my Micro a window pops up where I have 3 options, none of which are Creative MediaSource. The window has "MTP Media Player" across the top bar, but i havn't a clue what the "MTP" stands for. The 3 options given are "Sync your music using Napster", "Synchronize media files to this device using Windows Media Player", and "Take no action". I initialy tried "Take no action" and then opened MediaSource only to find it didn't recognize my Micro any more. I then e-mailed Creative for help and got a reply telling me to.............

    "Get Creative"
I followed the directions, but 3 of the folders listed in step 5 didn?t exist (only C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\MEDIASOURCE did), there were no Creative NOMAD products listed as in step 8, and there was no ?Other Devices? as stated in step 9. I did everything else for all the steps through step 0.
I then re-installed Creative MediaSource from the CD only to find it still didn?t recognize my player! I?ve now done this twice with the same results!
Zen Micro Media Explorer doesn?t even recognize my Micro when it'ss plugged in! It just keeps saying ?The device is not connected. Please connect your Zen Micro to the computer?.
I?m hardly a tech expert, but it seems to me that something on my PC is detecting my player and decieding for itself that the only 2 programs it will let manage my Zen Micro are Napster and Windows Media Player. If this is the case where do I go from here?!?!

    LakeTahoeGuy,
Just as SSR mention, if you're using v2.xx.xx (MTP) firmware then you will need to get the correct version of Media Explorer that support this firmware and also install the MTP plugin for MediaSource. Both the software and plugin are available from the site SSR mention.

  • When you order your Zen Micro, make sure you know what you're getti

I recently about a 5gb Zen Micro Mp3 player and went through a lot of trouble to get it, but I learned a lot. Read on:
First, there are two types of packaging for Zen Micros, one that includes only the player, the cords, the manual, the software, a pouch and the battery, and another that also has a case with stand and belt clip attachments. Most of the retailers are selling both for the same price and many of them have them both in stock at the same time. The boxes are two different sizes and the larger one (almost 0'by 7') has the case and attachments. Get your money's worth and ask what's the box.
Second, NEVER NEVER NEVER buy from a company in British Columbia, Canada called Can Computer (www.cancomputer.com). It is BY FAR the WORST retailer I've EVER come into contact with!
I ordered from this company after doing a little bit of research and they seemed like a decent company. I was WRONG. I ordered my player. A day later they called me to tell me that the colour I wanted was sold out but hadn't been posted on the website, so I picked a new colour. The company only ships by reg mail so after a week of waiting, I got my mp3 player in the mail.
Now, when you buy the player from a decent retailer, as I did afterwards from The Source by Circuit City, the box is rapped in plastic and the inside box is taped. Everything in the box is packaged and sealed including the battery and the software. Everything is neatly placed in the box and the player is untouched and is protected by plastic stri
    ps.
The battery is outside the player. This is the way they should all be according to Creative Labs and all the other retailers I've spoken to.
When I received my supposedly "new" player from Can Computer, there was no outside plastic, the seal on the inside of the box was broken. The outside AND inside was covered in dirt. The inside contents looked like they had been dumped out onto a dirty floor and thrown back in again. Everything was opened, including the software. The battery was already inside the player and it was covered in dirt. When I took it out of the player, there was a piece of tape (the kind of scotch tape you get on a roll) holding the top of the battery together and the casing was warped. My manual was mangled. On top of that, there were parts missing from my box. I received the box that should have included the casing and the attachments. Neither were there. Also missing were my warranty cards and the casing to the manual. The cords that I receieved were not creative merchandise. As you can imagine, I wasn't very happy.
When I called the company, the Sales Manager was incredibly rude to me. He refused to apologise and seemed to make every effort to deter me from getting refund. He tried to tell me that it was normal for the player to arri've that way and that tape on the battery was something that was normal. He also said he would only refund my shipping costs to send it back to him if he saw it and believed that I was telling the truth. He was so rude that when I explained to him what happened, he had the nerve to say, "So, what do you want me to do about it's". To prove my point, I called the retailers around my city and asked them what the box, battery and player should look like. I also called Creative. All of them said that what I got from Can Computer was abnormal. It was only then, when I proved that they'd sent me used and defecti've products and demanded that I be given a full refund, that the Sales Manager of Can Computer agree with me.
This is the worst company I've ever dealt with. DO NOT buy ANYTHING from this company!!!
Do your research and if you can buy one from a retailer in your area, do so. It's worth it. Futureshop will match any internet retailer's price, and The Source gives over the counter replacement.

  • What happened to the Zen Micro Pho

I had asked my parents to buy me the Zen Micro Photo as a gift for Christmas and they thought they had got the right one but they got the older Zen Micro, not the photo one. Not a big deal I thought, I would just go back to the store and exchange it. Well, it seems that the Micro Photo doesn't even exist anywhere. It isn't even available to buy on Creatives store, it isn't even listed as an option. Every store I have called told me that they don't carry that model, and every web site I have gone to is out of stock. I even called Amazon.com and asked them when they thought they would be getting more in and they said they didn't know. I called Bestbuy, CircuitCity, various electronics stores in the New York/New Jersey areas and everyone is sold out or never carried it. Just two weeks ago I saw it for sale on Creatives site and now it isn't there. I plan on calling Creatives customer service in the morning and asking them about it. Does anyone here know what happened, is it going to be available again or is it being replaced?

Well I doubt that Creative just stopped making them, I remember while looking for a White one in the U.S. I called up Creative asking when they'll be sending more out and they told me late January/Early February they'll be shipping them out to retailer. Yeah, I don't think the microphoto has been discontinued. I just think they're having some stock supply/demand issues and they're all sorts of screwed up with their websites for different regions around the world and the availability of items. It would be dumb to get rid of the micro and the microphoto since that would leave nothing to really compete with the ipod nano (and I don't think too many people are buying the neeon, but I could be wrong).

  • What to do if new firmware for zen micro is not for you

Ok its pretty simple, takes long but it should work (never been tested)
Uninstall the new firmware (keep all your songs saved onto PC music library)Install the cd you were given with the zen micro. You'll have all your songs on your pc library ( i would reccomend clearing out you zen micro music library and just putting the pc music library songs on your zen micro from there) so just transfer all the files you want onto the zen micro and it should be running fine.please reply and tell me what happens.Zenmastertml

    Hi Prakash,
As per GAAP - FI general accepting account principal,
Balance is define as on date,

Here, I guess you want to see balance as on 30.06.2011
    and transaction for 01.06.2011 - 30.06.2011.
    Am i right?
FYI, If you use 0BALANCE for any period, let say 01.06.2011 - 30.06.2011
then it will show balance for last day 30.06.2011

  • What was the last firmware version for the Zen Micro before M

I would like to know what was the last firmware version for the Zen Micro before the MTP firmware?
Please make sure you are 00% on this.
    Thankyou.

I think it does, but I'm not sure; since I wanted MTP, I only used .x firmware long enough to save the original Creative test files (with MediaSource, not ZMME) before upgrading to 2.x. And yes, I had to li've with 2..02's shorter battery life until 2.20.05 came out.
May I ask why you want to go back to .x firmware? The only thing that will get you is the ability to use it with Win98SE/2000/Me--but only if you can install Creative drivers on every PC you use it with. MTP requires WinXP SP or 2 and WMP 0, but doesn't need any Creative software at all to work. (Microsoft has made an MTP driver for Win98SE/2000/Me, but it requires customization and may not be supported by other software. I'm tinkering a bit with the customization part right now.)
There are other pitfalls in changing Micro firmware families, in either direction--you'll lose all the files on your Micro, you'll have to install a different ZMME (and I've heard non-MTP ZMME isn't quite as full-featured as MTP ZMME), and you'll need a new plug-in for MediaSource to work.

  • Zen Micro problem... What the he

You'll probably read this and think I'm retarded but...
How do you play music on Zen Micro?
Seriously... I just bought it, took it out of the box, and checked it out. According to the manual, there are some sample songs on there. The manual also implies that the first time you turn it on, you'll be at the Now Playing screen which has track information. On mine, that screen just says "Select music to PLAY from the Music Library". Next, I followed the instructions to transfer some music from my computer to Zen. That all seemed to go well, and from Windows Explorer I can see those songs on the Zen. Then I disconnected from the computer to try it out.
Starting on p. 30 of the manual is the instructions on how to play a track. It says to hit the menu button to get the main menu (that works). Next, it says to select the Music Library. I was confused about that for a while since there is no such option on my main menu (which, coincidentally, renders the entire rest of the instruction manual useless because it explains all the fabulous things you can do from the Music Library).
I spent a while looking online for help and got nowhere, other than I saw an ad with a picture of the Main Menu, and in the picture Music Library was an option on it.
So help me out here... is there something wrong with the player? Am I dumb? Some combination of the two? Please let me know any suggestions as to what I've missed.
ps: I can get the FM radio to work.

I saw one other post on here that described this problem. I think if you go into the Extras then select the Customize Menus option you can check the box next to Music Library
If this doesn't place the Music Library on the main menu then try a disk cleanup in rescue mode.
To access the resue mode take the battery out. Make sure the player is off and hold the power button over and re-insert the battery. You should boot into rescue mode. From there select Disk Cleanup. It shold only take a few seconds and a % complete should display. When it's done select reboot and the Music Library will most likly be in the main menu.

  • Zen Micro Problem: No idea what's wr

I have a Zen Micro 6GB. It's been working fine until I plugged it into an older computer of mine. Now I can't add music to it because it doesn't recognize Zen Media Explorer (which is what I use). Frequently it says it isn't plugged in when it is. Plus, Creative Media source pops up with the "organize now" screen when I plug it in.
    What's the problem and solution?

Sorry if this is a bit obvious, but have you installed the Zen Micro's software on the older computer that doesn't recognize it's
What firmware version is the Zen Micro?
If it's 2.x, does the older computer have Windows Service Pack or 2 and Windows Media Player 0?

  • What is going on with my Zen Micro battery?

Ok, so far I have been fairly happy with my Zen Micro (only one freeze/reboot) but something is serioursly up with my battery. Yesterday, I used my Zen Micro for no more than 2 hours after a touch up charge and I had two bars left on the battery display. Then when I tried to turn it on this morning it wouldnt turn on, so I plug it into my power adaptar and it shows that my battery is completely drained! How can this be? Does the player use up battery power while the Micro is off?
The has already happened to me once. I charged my battery the first day I got it and used it for a while. Then the next morning the Micro wouldnt turn on so I plug it into the adaptar and it keeps flashing the Creative logo so I had to clean the disk.
Two different battery problems not even within the first 5 days of purchase
(I can still return it to Frys thankfully). Please tell me what is going on or I might have to just swap it for an Ipod......

Well my player has been fine after I ran the disk clean for the first time, but it is my **bleep** battery and its battery life.
Maybe I should swap in the extra battery I got. Any suggestions on how I should handle it's Like what should be my charging routine? Because when I popped in my first battery it had one bar on it and I was using it for a while, then I did a full charge and used it for a while and the next day is when I had the freeze. so for the new battery, should I pop it in and just fully charge it before using it's
::I have visited the ipodlounge and have seen alot of problems with ipod, but since there are so many Ipods out there I am not surprised. I am surprised at how many problems the Zen Micro is having without having sold as many units::

  • Zen Micro Warranty - What a load of....

Word of Warning to those that have bought Zen from overseas as I have.
Some history first. I bought 4 Zen Micro in Feb'05 for my frens thinking the function and the look and feel of the player is better than IPOD and I know the Creative Brand.
I bought the Zen from overseas to bring it back to Australia to use while I was on Holiday. Which I'm sure is a normal thing these days. Thinking to myself that Creative is an international brand surly like any electronic goods now days if something happened to it. I will be covered by some sort of international warranty or at least even take it to Creative in my county to fix.
Anyway out of the 4 Zen Micro players 2 played up ( is ok after firmware upgrade, still acting up and the 3rd one only switched on to the Logo and stuck there. The player is pretty much Died)
To cut the story short I wrote to them with regarding my player is dead, they replied back with some solution (which I received very quick response from creative) but it was still no good. When I asked now that I have a Dead Player that was only purchased not 6 months ago what can I possibly do, this is the response that I received.
"As regards to your enquiry, we would like to extend our utmost serviceto assist you. However, please allow me to explain the situation to you,so that you can have a better understanding in terms of the servicingyour product. We would like to inform you that Creative do not provide internationalwarranty coverage for our retail products. We have an agreement with ourauthorized dealers and distributors that user are to send faulty productto us for servicing through them. In this way, all the freight chargeswill be bear by the distributors/dealers and Creative. This is also toprotect our users? investment in purchasing the original product from anauthorized dealer/distributor in their country. As such, we recommend and encourage our customers to purchase ourproducts in their own countries, and to utilize the service of ourauthorized dealers/distributors. In your case, you are sending the product to another channel but werenot purchased from them but through another dealer, they reserve theright not to take in your product. However, if they are willingly toservice your product, you will have to pay for the product servicecharge of AU$55.00 subjected to their approval. Moreover, if thewarranty period had expires, there will be a replacement cost incurred."
So basically I have been told that my player is dead. And only way to get it fix is for me to fly it back to the place of Origin (and NOT to Creative I was told but rather the shop where I bought it).
I tried calling up Creative in Aus and the customer service there gave me the same answer basically there is NOTHING they can do. But instead they gave me a Mobile Phone number to some guy that can "FIX" my player.
So after spending 400 bucks buying 4 players, I am left with 3 that are with faults and dead player.
If anything else happens to the other 3 player I'm pretty much stuffed.
Unless I go and pay for another 500 Plane ticket, to fly back where I first purchased the player hand over my receipt to the "Reseller" sit there and wait for them to go back to Creative and then come back to me with an Answer there is nothing much I can do.
    Thanks alot Creative.
