Zen Micro wont turn o

[size="4" color="#0000ff">My zen micro isn't turning on now when i hold the button. The only way to turn it on is to connect it to the usb port. Is there anyway to restart it so it will work?

If it's still within warranty then you won't pay anything (except maybe for shipping, depends on where you bought it from and where you'll send it to, I for instance would pay nothing as the retailer will take on the responsibility of taking it to and from the local Creative service)...
With that said, the cover over the power switch can be removed very easily, just put the switch to the lock position, use a small flat screwdriver and GENTLY put it between the switch and the cover, then again GENTLY pry it open.
Then examine the switch carefully to make sure that there's no dirt or anything else that would cause it not to work.
Do bear in mind that although at this step you technically don't open the player (and thus you don't void your warranty) if you use a thick screwdriver or excess force you may damage the plastic parts and that won't look good if you take it to the service... you know what I mean?
Hope that has been of help

What site did you buy it from? You should be able to print off a valid receipt, as long as it's not an auction site like eBay.

  • Zen Micro wont turn

Okay, so I am unable to turn on my zen micro! Nothing happens at all when I try to turn it on. When I hook it up to my computer the first page comes up (the one that says Creative), but then it doesn't do anything else. And I can't turn it off once that page does come up, I have to take the battery out in order for it to shut off. Does anyone know what to do about this? Please? I've tried taking the battery out - doesn't work. I've tried the thing where you turn the micro on and then put the batter in - doesn't work. Is there anything else to try?

    oh !
the same problem happened to my muvo tx fm before.
ok, look you need to go to:
    www.creative.com/support
then go to "Contact Customer Support"
then enter the info needed, then describe the problem that you faced !
they should respond in like 24 hours or more !
keep the firmware that you downloaded, and you will be told by the message to how to activate the recovery mode for your player
my recovery mode was to press the play button for 5 second after i plug it in, after downloading the recovery drivers !
anyway, you should do whatever they tell you to !
    do it
    cheers to all !

  • Problems with Zen MIcro not turning on or

I have a problem with my Zen Micro not turning on or off. The only way to turn it on is to plug it into the power or USB cable :-(
I have done a quick search and the posts that I have found on this topic suggest that I will need to send it back to Creative! Anyone found a "magic" solution for this problem other than sending it back?
I have done a firmware upgrade just in case that would solve the problem but unfortunately it did not.
What with this problem and the earlier problems I had with battery life I am thinking of sending the thing back and going for a different Creative player. The Zen Sleek seems to have a good range of features ... anyone had any good or bad experiences with the Sleek?
    Any comments appreciated.

well..unfortunatly i have had this same problem. i made a topic about it and some of u may have read it..i can't seem to find it now. but i have found the resolution to this problem..send it back! i baught my from circuit city..i just got home from there..very nice guy helped me out at the customer service counter. grabbed my receipt, all the contents it origionally included and the box and headed to circuit city. i did exchange the zen micro for another zen micro. we both converstaed with eahochter about how i have heard other ppl complain about this problem. creative needs to do there homework. hopefully it won't happen to me again.

  • Zen Micro wont work at all plz help, or im gonna return

When i charged my zen micro, i turned it on, and then it displays the title screen: Creative
Then it just stays there, how long is it supposed to take to load?Message Edited by Kyler on 07-3-2005 05:08 AM

I bought a Black 5GB Micro and after about 3 Weeks it froze. After I rebooted it (removing and reinserting teh battery) it stayed stuck on the Creative logo. Going into rescue mode (holding the power button to the left, taking out the battery, reinserting it and then letting go of the power switch) was useless because it would just freeze when i tried n e of the options. I took it back to the store and they gave me a new one, it's been working great ever since.
So, Short Answer: If rescue mode doesn't work just take it in, it's pooched.

  • Zen Touch wont turn on nor cha

i brought my zen touch 2 days ago, i charged it and once it went dead flat i put it back on charge and now it wont chrage at all or turn on. i tryed charging it thought usb but that wont world either. how suggestions?

    Hiroshima_X,
Is this the Zen 20GB (looks like a Zen Micro)? If so, the reset button is located underneath the power switch (move it to the left and you will see a small button underneath, this is it). To get into rescue mode, hold the switch to the left and the press the reset button (keep the switch held until you get into the rescue mode screen).

  • Micro wont turn o

my zen micro was dropped the other day and now it wont turn on. i've dropped it many times before and it didnt do anything to it but this time it did. when i turn it on it lights up and then displays CREATIVE on the screen and stays there and wont go any further than that. what the hell is wrong with it's i've had it for about 2 and a half months. what should i do about this?

Firstly, dropping your player = bad idea.
Secondly, can you get into rescue mode and perform a disk cleanup? See the FAQ post.
If you can't get into rescue mode you need to contact support.

  • Zen Micro wont st

I charged my Zen Micro on thursday night for going away for the weekend, it was safely tucked away in a pocket in my bag on the journey and then put in the safe in the hotel until on my way back home on monday, so no chance it has been dropped or anything. On monday i tried to turn it on but nothing happened, i thought the battery might be dead so when i got back i put it on charge and seemed to be charging fine. Then i tried to turn it on again, this time i got the Creative Welcome Screen and thats it, just sticks on that screen, it wont even turn off after that i have to remove the battery to turn it off. i've tried all the options in recovery mode and even reloaded firmware. please help.
    -adara

adara, I am in almost the exact same position as you. My Zen Touch won't power up and I can't even get to the recovery console!
However, customer support have been very helpful and have replied to all my emails within one day. I'm hoping to send it off soon to get it repaired.Message Edited by HermesPanduck on 0-8-2005 05:7 PM

  • Zen Micro Not turning

I just bought a new zen micro and when i put the battery the power didn't come on. So i decided to plug it into the computer to charge but i still can't turn it on. Also when i try to connect it to the computer it doesn't detect it. I had a previous zen micro and i installed it into my current computer. I need help!!

It sounds like the player or battery is faulty. The battery should ship with some power.

  • My Zen (4gb) wont turn

I just got my Zen (4gb), but it won't turn on.
I charged it as it said in the manual, installed the tools from the CD, but nearly nothing is happening. The screen turns white, but then it turns gray (as it's shutting down). The things is, when I connect it to the computer, I can copy music to it, but still, it wont turn on!?

you should have installed the software first (before plugging in your player).
when you were charging it for the first time, was it working normally (i.e. you've seen the red wallpaper etc.)?

  • Almost full Zen Micro wont s

    Hey peeps,
I have a 3 month old Zen Micro 5GB. All is working but i am starting to notice a trend in my player that when ever I fill it up to 75%-00% capacity; my player would stop interfacing my computer (the computer wont recognise it is connected). I usually use the Zen Micro Explorer and Winamp5.2. The problem would go away if only i reformat my Zen Micro's hard dri've.. Is there anyway that I can make it better with out reformatting.
    Thanks
    Hazri

I tried to send an email to creative but was denied since my product was purchased over a year ago, and it dosnt look like im going to get the help i need here so i give up.
Creative wins, they get my hard earned money in exhange for a defecti've piece of **bleep** i havent been able to get working satisfactoraly since i got it and am now forced to replace...
Before purchasing one of their mp3 players i thought so highly of creative. I usually am more careful before making such a purchase but I, as many others, had trust in this company renowned for its sound cards. Even after the purchase i just told myself "a company like creative wont let this product sit with crappy firmware for long, they'll update it and it will be a great player" So instead of returning it when i should have a sat on it, and my dreams never materialized and now im stuck with a paperweight that wont install any firmware now because of a known issue with their product!
quote from SSR in another thread with the same problem,
"Unfortunately there are others who've got stuck after removing the v2 firmware, and can't apply the same or the v firmware. I suggest you contact support and hopefully they can resolve it for you. Please post back here if you get a remedy."
But i cant contact customer support, they refused to help me because my warrenty is out. If someone knows of a way to fix my problem please feel free to still post in this thread i will still check it in hopes of fixing my player, this forum is now my only hope with creative email support outright refusing to help me.
Thanks to anyway who actually read all these long winded posts but im done with creative...

Maybe if it doesn't recognize it, you might have to install the software again (the CD that came with it).

  • Zen MicroPhoto Wont turn

I have a Zen MicroPhoto that wont turn on. The Computer wont recognize it. The batery was fully charged when i was using it. I turned it off to go to class. Then went to turn it back on and it doesn't do anything.

Take the battery out, and then put it back in. Try turn the Zen on. The Zen should re-boot, wait for the library to be rebuilt, and then you should have access to your music etc.
