Zen Microphoto 8gb probl

Ok hears whats wrong with my mp3 player and what i've tried to fix it with.(I will try to be as in depth as I can.
I just finished putting 2 new cd's on my creative, did the safe disconnect like my usual routeen. Disconnected the usb and set it down came back later (2-3 hours) to use it but realized when i turned it on it went directly into recovery mode but froze at the end of the RE in "Re-building Library" So I did what it said on the site and took the battery out and popped it back in went to re-building Library again and froze at the same spot. Did the take battery thing out more time and it went to the low battery sign and shut off I tryed charging it and it won't connect to my computer and won't charge so i tryed the barrtery thing (taking it out) 3 more times and it alternated from low battery to rebuilding library (freezing like usual RE)
I did recovery mode and cleaned up and rebooted (didn't work) tried 2 more times did nothing.
And now im hear Haven't dropped the mp3player once in its 8 month span taken good care of it and have it in a gell case just incase that faithful day comes when it does fall.
So It would be grand if some one could help me in this situation.

I would choose the format option.
Generally when the micro dri'ves fail you can hear a clicking noise from the player if you hold it relati'vely close to your ear.
Now on a similar note... I just recently formatted my Zen Micro and I've had NOTHING but problems since. It won't shutdown, it rebuilds every time I turn it on... sigh...
Good luck,
Merrell

  • Creative Zen Microphoto 8GB hangs

    Hello,
I have seen a lot of posts on the same subject here, but have not seen any resolution yet.
I am sure the story sounds familiar... hangs at "Creative" logo, I go into recovery mode, and run scan disk or format etc... They don't work. I have even left the player on "formatting" overnight until the battery drains and it never finishes, same goes for "Scanning".
I am on my 4th player now and am having the same issue again. This time the player is now out of warranty so I can't return it, and I am not paying money out of my own pocket to get this thing fixed. Please don't tell me this product is defecti've... I don't buy that excuse. And it isn't a corrupt file, because a reformat would fix that.
Once it hangs, my computer won't recognize it, so I can't even try to update the firmware or anything.
Any new updates or information on this issue? It is obviously a well documented problem...just google "Creative zen freezes" and see how any hits you get!
I am pretty disappointed with this player. I should have followed my gut instinct in the first place, and just bought an iPod. I spent a lot of money on this paper weight. Any help, advice, prayers,or donation$ (for a new iPod) would ge greatly appreciated!

Right you will need to download the latest firmware from this site.
Here is a hyperlink to where you can download the firmware:
    http://uk.europe.creative.com/suppor...lect=4&x=9&y=2
You might have to put some details in.
Once you have downloaded the latest firmware just start the program up.
Plug in your Zen into the PC and then press the "Reload Firmware" button on your Zen.
You should see your computer screen pick it up.
Then you click on your PC to install firmware.
    That should be it.
    I hope this hel
    ps.
Got any questions you have just post on this space.
I do apologise if this does not make much sence my grammer is not that brilliant.

  • Zene MicroPhoto 8GB - FM Radio Feez

My Zen MicroPhoto 8GB work ok except for the FM Radio feature. Anytime I try to scan stations, whether automatically or manually, the unit will freeze and I have to remove the battery to reset it. I have already tried the Clean Up, Format All, Reload Firmware, & Reboot options in that order and nothing has worked. The FM radio still freezes the unit when I try to scan through stations. Any help regarding this problem is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I have a 8gb zen microphoto and the same thing happened to me. The first time I tried to use the radio and find a station it froze up on me. I removed the battery and that seemed to solve it. I have not tried since. I do not use the radio much but would like to be able if I wanted too. Thanks so much for these forums. I am a idjit when dealing with computers and electonics and have learned just from reading the message threads.

  • Creative Zen Microphoto 8GB: Unrecognized by Creative softw

Alright, I just got the player yesterday. I believe it has an issue with Creative's software and the USB. It's noticed in Windows Media Player 0 and on my desktop. I tried using the software in my laptop and it worked fine, but I would really like to use it on my desktop since my laptop usually doesn't have my MP3s on it.
I've tried upgrading the firmware, setting the USB in the registry, rolling back WMP, using the motherboard's own usb ports, and reinstalling the drivers and the software. None of this worked, but I can now turn the volume up higher.
    Any advice or ideas?

I have the same/similar problem with my Microphoto 8GB (though I didn't get as far as deleting the firmware on the player). The player works - it continued to play music after I discovered this problem, until I formatted it on the advice of the website. The computer cannot recognise the device when it is connected and the player itself crashes/freezes every time I try to hook it up?- as well, interestingly, as causing problems with other USB devices connected to my computer, including my wireless adapter.
I've tried as many of the fixes on the website as I can, but none of them have helped.
At the moment, all of the Creative software has been removed from the computer, I have Service Pack 2, have rolled back to Windows Media Player 0 and?I have tried following the link for the MTP drivers listed in another post further down - but according to that I had nothing to download. I can't update/remove/uninstall any drivers as my player does not appear on the device listing of my computer (at best, I can find it as an Unknown Device which doesn't seem to help).
I can't understand why it has just suddenly stopped working. I purchased my player in September/October 2006 and it worked fine up until last week, although I did note the time prior to that the Creative software didn't work for data transfer - I had to open it under My Computer and drag-and-drop the files onto it. Have Microsoft released an update recently that I will have downloaded under automatic update? I am upset as this player cost a significant portion of my budget and is currently little better than a paper weight.Message Edited by CrimsonB on 03-07-200704:5 AM

  • Creative Zen Microphoto Charge probl

hi i bought my player online over the internet. I bought a charger separate in HMV, does all mp3s. It only charges however when its says battery low on screen-can't charge it any other time.its really annoying. Whats do you think the problem is?

The Zen MicroPhoto also charges over your computer's USB ports.
    Have you tried that?
The Creative Zen Micro charger is only $9.95 and is designed to work with the ZEN MicroPhoto, ZEN Micro and ZEN Neeon.

  • Is Zen Microphoto 8GB compatible with Windows Vis

    Hello,
My Zen microphoto was working fine until yesterday. I got a firmware error msg so I downloaded the latest firmware for microphoto (.3.0) and uploaded it using my bf's laptop (he's still got XP and media player 0). It uploaded successfully, but I'm still getting that error msg. Am I missing something?
I may have a defecti've unit and I have a warranty on it that allows me to replace it for another one, but I'm just like to know if this is a compatibility issue vs. a bum player issue before I do so.
    Thanks for the help!
    Callie

Anyone else having problems with Zen Microphoto and Vista? Would appreciate some help or advice whether or not Microphoto and Vista are compatable.
    Thank you.

  • Zen microphoto 8gb.. im shock

    Hi guys!
Well i hope u can help me cause im really desperate :/
Today i connected my Zen microphoto to my car's stereo and it suddenly rebooted... i said "what the hell", but i kept listening. Some time later i reconnected the player to the stereo, again rebooted (it doesnt happen always) but this time it restarted in recovery mode. Gave me 4 options:
CLean up -- Cleans but does nothing
FOrmat ALL --Havents tried it yet (wouldnt like to try it)
    Reload Firmware
Reboot --Reboots player and enters into recovery mode/menu again
So reloading firmware makes a little window appear saying "firmware is being erased" and then it just frezes. One time it finished but nothing happened, just returned to recovery menu.
I tried reloading firmware via usb but the process fails at the very end. I dont know what to do.
I read in another post something about waiting for the battery to be depleted. Im gonna try that now.
Meanwhile i would apreciate your opinions. Thnx!
Oh by the way my pc does recognize my Zen and all.Message Edited by kaji_to on 2-8-2005 08:25 AM

This happened to me the 2nd week I had mine, so I went to Best buy, almost got an iPod.... but got a new ZMP, and I am glad I did.

[size="2" face="Verdana">my zen microphoto just stopped working. i installed everything correctly and followed the directions to a T. i was using it one day and all of a sudden it just stopped. i've tried all of the options it gives me in recovery mode. it doesn't seem to want to get out of recovery mode. when i hold it up to my ear to listen to it, you just hear it like .. trying to work. it's hard to explain.[size="2" face="Verdana">?[size="2" face="Verdana">the computer still recognizes it, it still charges (but doesn't hold?a charge for long) and it's always in recovery mode for like 20 minutes then it gives me the options to reboot, reload firmware, etc. any ideas? could be defecti've i guess.

[size="2" face="Verdana">when i try to choose one of the options, they all complete. the screen goes blue and then loads the recovery mode screen again. when i try and reload the os it just says recovery mode and has a picture of a usb device and just stays there. i left it one day before i went to work, i come home it's still on the same thing. i have to turn off and turn on the zen to get it to clear again.

  • Zen MicroPhoto startup proble

I've had my Zen MicroPhoto for about 2-3 weeks now, and I'm loving it! But I was at school, my teacher says we can use MP3 players, so I bring out my MicroPhoto. When I try to turn it on, it boots up displaying the Creative startup screen. The text at the bottom is there, then it disappears and the Creative text just stays there with the black screen. I waited 3 HOURS for it to pass, but it never did. I even formatted the darn thing. But it still didn't fix the problem. I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this problem and can provide assistance? Thanks in advanced,MechaM

Well, I formatted it in Recovery Mode. And?I just found out that my computer can't recognize the darn thing! when I connect it to my computer, my borthers, and my dads, they all can't recognize it! I even used different cables. (Oh, and I tried the Clean Up option before I "formatted" it. I failed to state that)? Also, does the Windows XP Firmware update work for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005?Message Edited by Mecham on 03-9-200607:52 PM

  • New Zen MicroPhoto Big Probl

I only purchase my MicroPhoto last saturday and i took it home to do a charge, at the same time i loaded in the new firmware .20.0 and left it charged until it's fully charge.
The next morning i turned it on and to my surprise, it cannot turn on! So i immediately went to my computer and plugged in the USB cable into the player and the batt is actually empty! So i left it charged and reloaded the firmware but this time the batt life only dropped to half even if it's turned off! Now the batt life it extremely short (around less than 6 hrs of playback) and somemore the player is new!
My another friend told me it may be the firmware fault that causes the batt life to drain drastically even if it's off. I called Creative and told them the situation and they told me to bring my unit down to do a check.
So has any here experienced this or any other thing i can do? Pls advice...

Well my brother just bought a zen microphoto here 2 weeks ago. I've already taken the time to test the battery life of his player.. I run audio files from 28 to 92 no higher no less than 28.. My recorded battery life before the player shut off was 24 hours and 3 minutes, so give and take here I could go to 22 hours and be safe. On fm, part my battery life was a bit higher since no hdd was accessed i was getting 29 hours 22 minutes, so once again give and take 27 hours be safe to charge..
TO fill in how I did this, I took a stop watch, digital. Had my brother press start at the same time as i hit play, to make it fair. So pertty much my battery life is as about accurate as my player can get...
Holy crap DOA, how did you get such a long battery life? I recently tested my microphoto and i got just under 0 hours. I had it on 2 volume, bass boost was off, smart volume was on, and i never used the screen. Did you use usb or power adapter to charge yours?

  • Zen MicroPhoto USB probl

It will only show the docked screen if you are running a program that is accessing the device such as Media Explorer or Media Source.
