Zen MicroPhoto and it's CREATIVE MEDIA SOU

Since last year I have a Zen Micro 5Gb and I always could change the MP3 informations (name, album...) in the MP3,using the program. Today I've the Zen MicroPhoto 8Gb and I upload the music in it. I had a mistake and a write as a album's name "Taxman" and not "Revolver" (revolver is the correct). I tried to change the album's name as the Zen Micro 5Gb but i can't! If I use the Creative MediaSource as a friend told me, it frooze and then I can't use it. How I have to do it's

Before buying a charger, be sure to test other USB ports on your computer [or on other computers, if one is handy].
Some computers do not provide full power all the USB ports.

  • Zen MicroPhoto and/or Vision:M and Windows compatibil

Are either of the Zen MicroPhoto and Vision:M compatable with Windows ME/Media Player 9 or do I have to upgrade my OS?

Hi Thanks for your reply, but I dont think you get what I mean. When I go to a friends house I just plug my Zen into his usb and bing bong, my zen appears in his "my computer" view along with all the other dri'ves. I can then click on it open it browse the folders in it, copy my music to him, copy his to my zen, all by dragging and dropping. I do not have to use any special software to do this, and I always used to do this on my own PC too, its the way I prefer to use my zen, and this is exactly why I bought a creative zen, and not an Ipod !My pc crashed last month, and I had to have a new dri've, when it came back to me the zen would not work, it still does on anybody else's pc, as described. I could not remember if I had had to load a driver or something for it, so I ran the creative disc, and of course all I could do then was to use the bspoke software. Now even after uninstalling? The Creative Software?as described above and going through the registry deleting all the folders left behind, I still cannot get my zen to appear as it always used to. I do not want to use the Creative special software.Help !

  • Zen MicroPhoto only detected by Windows Media Pla

I searched the forums for any posts about this but couldn't find anything, so sorry if It's a repost.
Like the topic suggests, my MP3 player is only seen by WMP. Media Source or Notmad don't see it, and I only get the "Docked" Message on the Zen if I have WMP running.
This only happened after I reformatted my HDD.
I can see my MP3s on WMP, I believe I can transfer new ones, but I can't get them off my Zen.
Any ideas on whats going on?

My Micro did that last night. I used WMP beta 2 to transfer some files, just to see how it worked, and now the Creative Media Explorer won't see it. Funny thing is that right about the CME, is the listing with my players name. I can get into my player through that ...reinstalling the CME right now...will let you know the outcome...
    That fixed it right up.
I hope that someone from Creative is watching all this mess with firmware/software problems and WMP and sorts it all out when WMP goes gold.Message Edited by zenwerewolf on 09--2006 04:24 PM

  • Zen VW not showing up in Media Sou

I have a one year old Zen VW. I recently reformatted my pc, it had been two years on that install and needed it. Anyway when I reinstalled everything back my Zen is not recognized by Creative Media Source. When I connected it via USB, Windows sees the device and asks what I want to open it with. I select Creative Media Explorer. Everything works fine here. I can see files on my Zen and everything else. It just does not show up in CMS. I am asking for help, because I prefer to drag and drop playlists in CMS with my Zen attached.
    Other info:
I am running Windows XP Pro with all the updates. I downloaded the software for my creative sound card and Zen from the web two weeks ago when I reformatted. So its all new drivers and ap

    Thanks for any help.

There is another possible cause - which I found from this board - if you ever had an Iomega driver loaded on your PC e.g. from a Zip dri've, but there are other Iomega drivers around too, this can causes this problem. (Don't ask why............). If you can find a Iomega driver on your PC, you need to delete it. This worked for me - and I had a similar problem to you before I deleted the Zen driver. Honeyrose

  • Zen Stone not detected by creative media lite or

My Zen Stone has just begun not to detected by creative media lite or WMP. I'm so frustrated as its been working great. I charged it using my plug in charger, and the green light was on, steady, meaning, i think, its fully charged.
But when plugged into the pc its blinking on and off in a red light, meaning I think the battery isn't charged.
What's going on? can anyone help me!

  • Creative zen firmware update now trouble with creative media sou

I wanted to start downloading music from an online store and was advised that I needed a firmware upgrade for my creative zen, which I did (version 2.2.02) and could download music. However since I have done this my zen is no longer recognised when I connect to my pc - which is running on Windows XP. I took advice from creative and reloaded my firmware after starting my player in recovery mode and then I reloaded the creative media source organiser software. After that I could find the player in the organiser but everything was laid out differently with all my music in folders which made it really tricky to navigate.
The icon is this grey thing which doesnt look like a creative at all! Although I can move files around it is still not recognised on the bottom right of my pc and I can't safely remove the hardware because of this. I am also having problems with syncing from the pc library to the zen and it is not picking up duplicate files but adding them again so I am getting loads of copies of the same music - nightmare. When I am deleting it is just not recognising and I have been through this process a few times now and its getting pretty tiresome!
Should I reinstall the organiser again and do a clean up in recovery mode?

The Zen MicroPhoto is an MTP Device.
    Minimum System Requirements:
Microsoft? Windows? XP (Service Pack or higher)/XP 64-bit
You might find a work-around for not having the minimum system requirements in this thread or this thread.

  • Windows Vista--again- Cannot install Creative Media Sou

Hello. I have a Zen Microphoto. I bought a new computer running window vista home premium 32 bit. I have been tryng to install the creative media source 5 to manange my music and playlists. I prefer this over Media Player. Every time I try to install the program, the setup program stalls with an error message, "searching for installed components" I have tried installing the program with the ZEN plugged into different USB ports and I have tried deleting the driver from the device manager and reinstalling it. Can anyone help me with this??

I would work through the reset procedures given under the various FAQ threads and then try the firmware upgrade again after getting it out of recovery mode as that seems to be the issue. There seem to be a number of threads with things to try. I would not give up but first work through the various suggestions to get it out of recovery mode. Then post separately re the recovery mode problem to see if anyone has ideas for solving that first. Did it go into recovery mode immediately after the firmware upgrade? Will it let you try to do the firmware again? When I connect it takes about 20 secs before the player is recognized by media player. In terms of transfer to your own laptop - do you have a burner on the friends PC for burning a DVD or 2. Or a slower way is multiple transfers using a USB memory stick.

  • Just got an 8 gig Zen MicroPhoto and love it! Just some suggestions tho

Hi everyone, my friend was considering a Zen Vision M and an Ipod video. I kinda suggested the Zen so he got it and absolutely loves it.
After seeing how nice the Zen Vision M is, I jumped on this MicroPhoto when I saw a sale and it is awesome!
The Zen MicroPhoto is a really good device, but just simple firmware stuff could make it a great one.
.) Ability to view pictures + listen to music
2.) Ability to view movies and video (the Muvo has smaller capacity and a screen with less colors and it can? Yet we are buying a nicer mp3 player than the Muvo but can't do video? The Sansa is small as hell and it can. It has the screen, hardware wise it should be able to do it, and if this is added through a firmware update, it won't be on the packaging and thus will not hurt sales of your other products.
I hate it when an awesome product is created and is capable of something and the manufacturer slashes that ability from it intentionally.
Another good example is the Gen III Ford Taurus SHO, its 3.4 liter Yamaha V8 was capable of revving well over 7500RPM and producing more than 30hp. Ford however, even though they had this jewel of an engine, intentionally cut its ability down to 235hp or else they feared it would be faster than their Mustang GT. What a shame, I hate to see that Creative is doing the same with the MicroPhoto.
3.) Ability to record FM with the latest firmware (If this is a RIAA issue, then please provide two firmwares and two download links, one that says "United States Users" and one that says "Non-US users"
4.) Ability to control different aspects of the glowing blue LEDs. They are obviously firmware controlled and can have brightness adjusted since they glow in and out when you have it plugged into the USB cable.
5.) Make it show up on your computer as a removable disk. On all my other MP3 players, it showed up just like a flash dri've and you could drag and drop whatever you wanted onto it, and it would just play whatever files on there it could play. Here, it won't let me drag and drop anything that is copy protected or is a different file type.
I know you can set aside 4 gigs of that for this purpose, but with the size of the files and videos I transfer, it would be nice if I could use all 8 gigs. Perhaps an option to just let the whole thing show up as a removable flash dri've?
*ok... I just tried it and that seems to be working on this computer that is Windows XP SP2 with WMP, but on the school computer that was XP SP2 with WMP0, it would not allow me to do this.

I think you will find that the reason the MicroPhoto is on sale is that it is now a legacy player (it was released before anybody could play video). I doubt very much that any further improvements will be coming....
EQ does have an effect... Maybe you earphones are not working well?

  • Cannot transfer files using Creative Media Sou

I cannot Cannot transfer files using from my PC to my Creative Jukebox 0GB using Creative Media Source. Since I installed Windows Media Player 0, it seems that Windows Media Player 0 is the only program enabled to transfer files to my creative Jukebox. I would just go ahead and use Media Player, but Media Player won't let me change my library to one designated music file folder location. Media Player wants to find every copy of the same song on my system and is very difficult to use to transfer the files to my Jukebox device. Is there any fix to make Creative Media Source the preferred (or only) program used to transfer the files from PC to device?

i am having a similar problem, although i have not downloaded windows media player 0. The creative mediasource software wont let me transfer songs onto my zen touch (20G). i only got the player a couple of days ago and it only has about 400 songs on it so far so there's no problem with the memory. I had problems before where it wouldnt let me upload anything that began with a letter after 's' in the alphabet! i solved this (no idea how) but the problem seems to have come back and now it wont let me up load anything. When i atempt to, it comes up with the prompt "unable to read file. file may be in use, missing or corrupted." (which they arent as far as i know) I also, for some reason, cannot play any songs through creative mediasource - even though i could a few hours ago!
Please could someone help as this is very frustrating!!!!!!

  • Zen MicroPhoto and external power sup

    Hi!
I recently bought a zen microphoto. But now I need a power supply to recharge it without a pc connected to it. I saw that on the creative on-line shop there are 3 different zen power supply. Which is the right one?
Creative Zen Uni'versal Power Adapter, Creative ZEN Power Adapter or Creative Zen Micro Power Supply?
    Thanks
    Enrico

It's the Zen Micro Power Adapter. It works with both the Micro and MicroPhoto.

  • Zen Plus not compatible with Creative Media Explore

I have had my Zen Plus for almost a year. Use it primarily to listen to audio books and I love it, but there is one thing that drove me crazy when I first got it, and it still does it, but I have gotten used to it. (I have Windows XP)
When I connect my device via the USB plug, I get a Windows?pop up that says "Portable Device" in the title bar. It then tells me that Windows can perform the same action each time I connect this device. There are several actions to select from:?
. Open device to view files (using Windows Explorer)
. Sync digital media files to this device (using Windows Media Player)
. Manage the device (using Real Player)
. Organize Media files in this device (using Creative Media Explorer)
. Add music to the device (using Yahoo Music Jukebox)
. Manage the device (using Rhapsody)
    . TAKE NO ACTION
Then there is a checkbox below that says "Always take the selected action."
Then you can click "OK" or "Cancel"
If I perform the obvious action (the Creative Media Explorer), I get an error message that says:
"This device is not compatible with Creative Media Explorer. This application will now end".
If I then go to my Start>Programs menu, and open up the Creative Media Source 5 Organizer, my device shows up in the program and I can use it with no problem. It also works if I have the Creative Media Source 5 organizer open before I?connect
    In my Zen.
Don't know why it does this, or how to stop it but, as I stated previously - it is not a problem for me now that I know how to get around it, but it has probably caused a few new users to return their device because they? thought they could not get it to work.

here try this, works for melink

  • TRANSFER between creative media sou

Hi guys, i've got a new computer and was wondering what would be the quickest/easiest way to transfer my music library in creative media source from my old computer to my new one? I have star rated all my songs, so it it possible to transfer this rating?

The rating should have been stored in the audio file as well. To be sure, it is suggested that you right-click on the tracks in PC Music Library and select Update Tag. This should update the tag of the files. After that, just copy the audio files to you new PC. Then re-import the files into MediaSource's PC Music Library.

  • Playing music via Creative Media Sou

Hi, I've searched through this forum for an answer to this with no luck. Once I have songs loaded on my Zen Touch, can I play them through my computer (i.e., desktop speakers) via Media Source?
What I'd like to do is remove the music files from my desktop HD and simply connect the Zen when I want to listen to music. At this point, I can move files to the Now Playing list and play them, but the audio only comes through the headphones. I'd like to avoid having to unplug my desktop speakers. Oh, and I have successfully started up Nomad Explorer and "cut and paste" files to Media Source - is this the only solution? Any thoughts? Thanks.

Most likely your PC is USB. If it were USB2 it will buffer the files in MediaSource and play them on the PC. More here.
You can get the excellent freeware JBHTTP or the equally excellent shareware Notmad (with the Xtreamer function) which *should* play the tracks on your PC.Message Edited by SSR on 2-05-2004 0:28 PM

  • Zen microphoto and recharcing batter

    hi,
I want to buy zen microphoto.
I'd know if it's possible to use the mp3 player while the battery is under charge (using the USB charge adapter AC/DC).
    thanks
    have a nice day ^_^

No you can't, the only thing happens when you plug the player to a USB wire is that the screen changes and a lightning sign with a battery in background appears .. kind of a screen saver ..
    but no sounds goes out.
Good point is that the battery can stands for really long, almost a 3 days without stopping player .. so no chance to miss any music, you just have to think of plugging it while you sleep !!!
Cheer up man that would be a good choice !!

  • Can't seem to transfer with Creative Media Sou

Ok so is anyone else having problems transferring songs from creative media source to their mp3 player? I have plenty of space on my muvoN200 so thats not the problem. When I try to troubleshoot the problem there is nothing on the error that I am getting. Anytime I try to transfer it always says "an error has occurred while transforming this file". I have over 50 songs on my mp3 player so I have had no such problems in the past and I have done nothing different. I also went and downloaded the newest version of MediaSource but the problem still persists. Unsure what is going on and wondering if anyone has had this problem or knows how to help. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!!!!

You may have hit the limit in the root directory. Delete a few files off the player, create folder and transfer those files to the folder instead of root directory.
