Zen MicroPhoto and/or Vision:M and Windows compatibil

Are either of the Zen MicroPhoto and Vision:M compatable with Windows ME/Media Player 9 or do I have to upgrade my OS?

Hi Thanks for your reply, but I dont think you get what I mean. When I go to a friends house I just plug my Zen into his usb and bing bong, my zen appears in his "my computer" view along with all the other dri'ves. I can then click on it open it browse the folders in it, copy my music to him, copy his to my zen, all by dragging and dropping. I do not have to use any special software to do this, and I always used to do this on my own PC too, its the way I prefer to use my zen, and this is exactly why I bought a creative zen, and not an Ipod !My pc crashed last month, and I had to have a new dri've, when it came back to me the zen would not work, it still does on anybody else's pc, as described. I could not remember if I had had to load a driver or something for it, so I ran the creative disc, and of course all I could do then was to use the bspoke software. Now even after uninstalling? The Creative Software?as described above and going through the registry deleting all the folders left behind, I still cannot get my zen to appear as it always used to. I do not want to use the Creative special software.Help !

  • Just got an 8 gig Zen MicroPhoto and love it! Just some suggestions tho

Hi everyone, my friend was considering a Zen Vision M and an Ipod video. I kinda suggested the Zen so he got it and absolutely loves it.
After seeing how nice the Zen Vision M is, I jumped on this MicroPhoto when I saw a sale and it is awesome!
The Zen MicroPhoto is a really good device, but just simple firmware stuff could make it a great one.
.) Ability to view pictures + listen to music
2.) Ability to view movies and video (the Muvo has smaller capacity and a screen with less colors and it can? Yet we are buying a nicer mp3 player than the Muvo but can't do video? The Sansa is small as hell and it can. It has the screen, hardware wise it should be able to do it, and if this is added through a firmware update, it won't be on the packaging and thus will not hurt sales of your other products.
I hate it when an awesome product is created and is capable of something and the manufacturer slashes that ability from it intentionally.
Another good example is the Gen III Ford Taurus SHO, its 3.4 liter Yamaha V8 was capable of revving well over 7500RPM and producing more than 30hp. Ford however, even though they had this jewel of an engine, intentionally cut its ability down to 235hp or else they feared it would be faster than their Mustang GT. What a shame, I hate to see that Creative is doing the same with the MicroPhoto.
3.) Ability to record FM with the latest firmware (If this is a RIAA issue, then please provide two firmwares and two download links, one that says "United States Users" and one that says "Non-US users"
4.) Ability to control different aspects of the glowing blue LEDs. They are obviously firmware controlled and can have brightness adjusted since they glow in and out when you have it plugged into the USB cable.
5.) Make it show up on your computer as a removable disk. On all my other MP3 players, it showed up just like a flash dri've and you could drag and drop whatever you wanted onto it, and it would just play whatever files on there it could play. Here, it won't let me drag and drop anything that is copy protected or is a different file type.
I know you can set aside 4 gigs of that for this purpose, but with the size of the files and videos I transfer, it would be nice if I could use all 8 gigs. Perhaps an option to just let the whole thing show up as a removable flash dri've?
*ok... I just tried it and that seems to be working on this computer that is Windows XP SP2 with WMP, but on the school computer that was XP SP2 with WMP0, it would not allow me to do this.

I think you will find that the reason the MicroPhoto is on sale is that it is now a legacy player (it was released before anybody could play video). I doubt very much that any further improvements will be coming....
EQ does have an effect... Maybe you earphones are not working well?

  • Zen Micro and Windows 98 proble

Hello, I just received my Zen Micro and have been trying to transfer files from Windows Media Player. I do have Windows 98, but was told it would not be a problem.
First my Micro has been charging for close to 6 hours and I am still getting the blinking thunderbolt. It doesn't seem to be getting fully charged and I am wondering if it is my computer or the battery.
I have not been able to install the creative software. The logo comes up but when I click on next, nothing happens.
I do have Media Player, but when I connect my Micro to the computer, it does not seem to recognize it and I am unable to transfer my files.
Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. I have searched the site, but nothing really hel
    ps.
Also, I have sent a email to Creative Tech support, but have not heard back yet.
    Thanks,

I'm pretty sure it won't work under Win 98, although it might work under Win 98 SE.

  • CREATIVE ZEN MICRO and WINDOWS VI

I hope this question has not been repeated.
I have a Creative Zen Micro and have attempted to install it on my current computer that uses Windows Vista 32-bit. However, it was unable to install or find the driver necessary.
I've already looked at the 'driver release plans'?for this product and there is only a page regarding 'Nati've Support', which says 'The MP3 products ZEN Micro, ... require the latest firmware to ensure Nati've Support in Window Vista'.
I've searched for firmware for the Zen Micro on a Windows Vista 32-bit in English, and found nothing.
How can I make this product work with my Windows Vista 32-bit computer ?
    Thank you !!!

First of all for a little background information, the problem lies in a problem between Creative's firmware installation program and Windows Media Player . WMP is standard in Windows Vista. As a matter of historical information, Creative has not developed any drivers for Windows Vista, therein the rub; Windows Vista does support the Microsoft PlaysForSure initiati've, and many of the older players like the Micro series does have PlaysForSure firmware available to enable the player to be used in Windows Vista.
Now for an outline of the necessary ste
    ps.
Back up all of the content on your Micro. The firmware that you will install includes a disk format that will erase all of the content and change the way that the disk dri've on the Micro is formatted.
You'll need to find a Windows XP system that does not have Windows Media Player installed. You or the owner of the system should also be knowledgeable in the use of Windows XP System Restore feature so that you can return the system to it's previous state after you are finished with it.
Create a Restore Point on the XP system. Download and install the drivers for your Zen Micro to the XP system. This will enable the player to be recognized by the computer.
Download the PlaysForSure driver for the Micro, V2.2.02, to the desktop of the XP system.
Connect the player to the system with a USB cable and execute the program.
When the firmware installation has completed, the player will reboot. You may disconnect the player. After you have confimed that the firmware revision is correct on the Micro, do a System Restore to put that system back in the condition that you found it.
Connect the Micro to your Vista system and it should recognize the player and install the nati've Windows PlaysForSure driver and pair it with your Micro.

Some computers do not provide full power all the USB ports.

  • Zen MicroPhoto and external power sup

    Hi!
I recently bought a zen microphoto. But now I need a power supply to recharge it without a pc connected to it. I saw that on the creative on-line shop there are 3 different zen power supply. Which is the right one?
Creative Zen Uni'versal Power Adapter, Creative ZEN Power Adapter or Creative Zen Micro Power Supply?
    Thanks
    Enrico

It's the Zen Micro Power Adapter. It works with both the Micro and MicroPhoto.

  • Zen microphoto and recharcing batter

    hi,
I want to buy zen microphoto.
I'd know if it's possible to use the mp3 player while the battery is under charge (using the USB charge adapter AC/DC).
    thanks
    have a nice day ^_^

No you can't, the only thing happens when you plug the player to a USB wire is that the screen changes and a lightning sign with a battery in background appears .. kind of a screen saver ..
    but no sounds goes out.
Good point is that the battery can stands for really long, almost a 3 days without stopping player .. so no chance to miss any music, you just have to think of plugging it while you sleep !!!
Cheer up man that would be a good choice !!

  • ZEN MICROPHOTO AND CF CARD/ HARD DR

Does anyone know if I can put a compact flash card in my zen microphoto instead of my hard drive? Or where I can get a replacement hard dri've for it, I have dropped it, and now sometimes it randomly skips to a different song.

It can be done as long as you're confident working with electroinc devices.
Here are a couple of threads to read.
    Best of luck!

  • Nomad jukebox zen xtra and windows vi

Help. I just bought a new computer, old one died. The new computer has windows vista and windows media player installed. i cannot get my player to work, it is not recognized, and the original software keeps getting shut down by windows. Can anyone tell me if there are updates and in what order I need to due them in. I have looked all over the creative web site and can't seem to find the correct solution. I also tried contacting tech support via email and they don't want to help since the player is out of warranty and just said to go to the web site, which of course I already tried, with no luck.

I am going to call a friend tomorrow who may still have xp. i'd like to know if i should and can it be done and if so how. To back up the original fimware that is on the player. and how would I reinstall it after if I needed too. i read through the link you provided a lot of good info but also seems a little like a could be in for a rough ride. Basically i should be able to upgrade the firmware and then the player will be recognized in vista. is that correct?as long as the computer I use has xp and windows media player 0.
?I like media source organizer but as long as I can transfer songs to the player I'll be happy. I can easily li've without media source organizer.

  • Windows operating system error with a Zen Sleek and windows 2

I have tried to install the creative disk that came with the Zen Sleek. After launch I get this message "windows operating system running on this computer is not supported by this product and can get no further. I am running windows 2000 pro. I have downloaded the creative media source program from the creative.com site and it will install beautifully but when you launch it, I get the error " CTCMS.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart program." I figure that these two problems are probably related. We have been able to transfer songs by using the play for sure, but I am disappointed otherwise.
    thanks, Kathy

On the packaging it should say the player is Win XP only. I'm not sure if the Sleek ships with the Easy CD that allows MTP/PlayForSure based players to work with earlier Windows versions.

  • Creative Zen V and Windows 7?

    CHi there,
I'm just bought a Creative Zen V 4MB and am having problems with installing it. I'm using Windows 7 and now realising this could be the reason why!? Is there a driver that will work with Windows 7? The installation from the CD partly worked, but I got lots of error messages during installation to say contact customer support (will post exact message if this helps),
    Thanks for your help,
    Louise

    Hello,
Thanks very much for your quick reply.
Yes I bought the player on Amazon Marketplace - unfortunately I bought the player new so I didn't realise that it was discontinued and there wouldn't be any official support for it. Also the reason I bought a new player was because after I upgraded to Windows 7 my old Zen Micro wouldn't work with it so I seem to have the same problem now :/!
I have connected the player again and it is recognised and I can transfer files across from my computer. The problem seems to be with the media explorer - when I try to open this up the computer hangs. Is there any service pack or file you can point me in the right direction of which may fix this?
    Thanks for your help,
    Louise

  • Zen Micro and Windows Vista 32

I have managed to get Windows Vista to detect my Zen when I connect it so can anybody please advise me what I need to do next? Do I now need to install the software from my disc that I got with it and then download the Firmware? If that is right, please can you let me know which Firmware I need to select as I'm not sure which ones I need. Many thanks.

Just install the programs that came in the CD with your Zen. Everything should work after that =]

  • Zen v and windows vista problem, can you hel

??Hi, We just got a new pc os windows vista. Won't recognize my daughters zen v I got her for xmas, I've tried drivers, firmware update, uninstalling-reinstalling , no joy, I'm an amateur pc user but usually manage to install hardware, I loathe not getting a result after hours, days now weeks?of trying. Can any knowledgeable person please tell me where I am going wrong?

?Hi, no there is no error message, it's been a while since I tried to install it with the disc, it all went ok seemingly but when I went to start transferring files and plugged the player into the usb port( tried more than one)the pc just won't recognize the player, says ' no player has been detected, plug your player in'?It did the same with our printer and I tried for ages to get it to work, ended up getting a new cheap printer as my daughter needs it for her prelims. So rubbishy as I'm super skint and our printer worked fine on xp.

  • Zen Micro and Windows ME (Milleni

I have just ordered a Zen Micro. It's supposed to get deli'vered today. I'm now not sure if I did the right thing in buying one since I'm getting some info that's telling me that I'm going to be very limited because I don't have Windows XP. When I try to look at the firmware downloads, nothing comes up for Windows ME (the version I have). Creative's website says it is compatible with ME but how come no available downloads for firmware? Could it be that the unit is only compatible with ME if I'm outside the US (which is what I'm being told about the Micro Photo)?
Assuming I have the newest version of the firmware already installed on there, does that mean that I'll have to li've with this version forever? Anyone with advice?

As far as subscription music, Audible files, or drag-and-drop support without Creative software, you're out of luck; the 2.20.05 firmware requires WinXP SP or 2 and WMP 0. However, the "other" current firmware, ..0, does work with WinMe; its exclusion from the WinMe download page is apparently an oversight on Creative's part.
If you don't need subscription music, Audible support, or drag-and-drop from PCs other than your own, ..0 is probably a better choice; it's been out longer than 2.20.05, and Creative's proprietary interface is more stable for now than Microsoft's MTP/PlaysForSure interface. Besides, the non-MTP version of Zen Micro Media Explorer gives you drag-and-drop support on your own PC.
