Zen Microphoto: connection probl

My new Zen Microphoto was connecting to my winXP SP2 machine just fine (no drivers needed) until today, when i decided I would install creative mediasource (newest version from the website). As soon as the install started up, it told me my player wasn't detected, and then since then, I haven't been able to get either of my computers to recognize the player. I'm now thinking: this is a player problem, right? So I formatted. No go. Then i hit "reload firmware" from the recovery screen and it says something like reload firmware using usb. My computer still says it's an unknown USB device. What am I supposed to do now?

Ouch. Reload firmware was a bad thing to choose as it actually deletes the firmware on the player (Creative REALLY need to rename this option).
Now you need to find a firmware for the player, and make sure it's detected by XP properly to reload. You'll need to use reload OS again to prepare the player.
If you can't find a firmware in the download section, which is entirely possible as the player is very new, you'll need to contact Creative support to get one.

Try reloading the firmware. It needs to be connected to your computer to reload firmware.

    * To install this firmware
. Download the ZENMicroPhoto_PCFW_L6__3_0.exe file into your local hard disk.
    2. Connect your player to your computer.

  • Zen MicroPhoto startup proble

I've had my Zen MicroPhoto for about 2-3 weeks now, and I'm loving it! But I was at school, my teacher says we can use MP3 players, so I bring out my MicroPhoto. When I try to turn it on, it boots up displaying the Creative startup screen. The text at the bottom is there, then it disappears and the Creative text just stays there with the black screen. I waited 3 HOURS for it to pass, but it never did. I even formatted the darn thing. But it still didn't fix the problem. I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this problem and can provide assistance? Thanks in advanced,MechaM

Well, I formatted it in Recovery Mode. And?I just found out that my computer can't recognize the darn thing! when I connect it to my computer, my borthers, and my dads, they all can't recognize it! I even used different cables. (Oh, and I tried the Clean Up option before I "formatted" it. I failed to state that)? Also, does the Windows XP Firmware update work for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005?Message Edited by Mecham on 03-9-200607:52 PM

  • Creative Zen Microphoto Charge probl

hi i bought my player online over the internet. I bought a charger separate in HMV, does all mp3s. It only charges however when its says battery low on screen-can't charge it any other time.its really annoying. Whats do you think the problem is?

The Zen MicroPhoto also charges over your computer's USB ports.
    Have you tried that?
The Creative Zen Micro charger is only $9.95 and is designed to work with the ZEN MicroPhoto, ZEN Micro and ZEN Neeon.

  • Zen MicroPhoto connection problem/file transfer prob

My wife had a Zen MicroPhoto player that she used for audiobooks. About a month ago it started having "no device found" problems with the Media Explorer. She bought a new player, and it's no better. The Media Explorer will not install. I tried installing it separately, and the installation hangs, because it cannot find the player. She is using the Organizer now to transfer files, but she much prefers the Explorer. Many of the audiobook discs have the same file names (e.g., Track , Track 2, Track 3,....,etc.). When that happens, with the second and subsequent disks, she gets a message asking whether to replace or skip the duplicate files; the file names are the same, but the disks have different album names. Is there a workaround for this?

I thought Creative's customer support was bad, but this "discussion forum" sucks big time -- not a single reply. Thanks....

  • Zen microphoto installation probl

I have windows 2000 and when i plug in my zen microphoto it says its not compatible is there any way i can fiz this i've tried downloading all the things that are intended to help on the website and still no answer i used to have a regular zen micro and it worked just fine on this computer so why isnt the zen microphoto working i am really confused so please help if you can

Take a look at the requirements for the ZMP (Wicrosoft? Windows? XP (Service Pack or higher) / XP 64-bit). It needs WMP0 for its media transfer protocal.

  • New Zen MicroPhoto Big Probl

I only purchase my MicroPhoto last saturday and i took it home to do a charge, at the same time i loaded in the new firmware .20.0 and left it charged until it's fully charge.
The next morning i turned it on and to my surprise, it cannot turn on! So i immediately went to my computer and plugged in the USB cable into the player and the batt is actually empty! So i left it charged and reloaded the firmware but this time the batt life only dropped to half even if it's turned off! Now the batt life it extremely short (around less than 6 hrs of playback) and somemore the player is new!
My another friend told me it may be the firmware fault that causes the batt life to drain drastically even if it's off. I called Creative and told them the situation and they told me to bring my unit down to do a check.
So has any here experienced this or any other thing i can do? Pls advice...

Well my brother just bought a zen microphoto here 2 weeks ago. I've already taken the time to test the battery life of his player.. I run audio files from 28 to 92 no higher no less than 28.. My recorded battery life before the player shut off was 24 hours and 3 minutes, so give and take here I could go to 22 hours and be safe. On fm, part my battery life was a bit higher since no hdd was accessed i was getting 29 hours 22 minutes, so once again give and take 27 hours be safe to charge..
TO fill in how I did this, I took a stop watch, digital. Had my brother press start at the same time as i hit play, to make it fair. So pertty much my battery life is as about accurate as my player can get...
Holy crap DOA, how did you get such a long battery life? I recently tested my microphoto and i got just under 0 hours. I had it on 2 volume, bass boost was off, smart volume was on, and i never used the screen. Did you use usb or power adapter to charge yours?

Hello,?I am experiencing the same problem with my MicroPhoto player. One day it froze on me, and since then the firmware has been acting up. It now goes to a "Firmware Problem" screen every time?I turn it on, and after attempting to remove and re-install the firmware 3 times, it has failed to work. Before I purchased the player, I had heard bad things about Creative replacement costs and how the Zen Micro has many problems as well. It looks like our players have lost the HDD and need to be replaced, which I assume will cost more than its worth... The one reason Creative will never beat out the iPod is because of their player glitches and lack of willingness to correct them. Anybody with more information on the hdd dying problem, could you let me know if you managed to send it in, and how much is cost, etc?

  • Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra connection probl

    Hello Everyone.
First off, I am using Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra (30G) with Windows XP - SP2. A few days ago my Zen Xtra would connect to my pc but as of today it no longer does. After searching through similar posts I am assuming it's not a problem with my Zen but with my PC. None the less, I did do my best to troubleshoot myself. I downloaded all possible firmware/drivers from Nomadworld.com. However - the firmware upgrade would not complete due to the fact that my device is not connected. I tried connecting my player to other USB ports on my PC - no luck. I used Nomad Explorer to do my transfers and as suggested in the FAQ, I tried downloading others (ie: MediaSource) however these wouldn't install because it could not detect any device. When I go to Device Manager/USB/ my Nomad isn't even listed. I have tried 3 different USB cables. The player isn't locked. Other devices work with the usb cables and port (ie: logitec clicksmart camera)
So now assuming it is a PC problem, where do I go from now? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me

    Hibbs,
Thank you for your response. The only thing that comes to mind is k-lite codec pack I downloaded and installed for the Indeo codec needed for my clicksmart 820. I'm not sure if that would have anything to do with the disruption of my device. The camera itself worked but wouldn't record videos until I installed the codec. Everything else to my knowledge is the same. No other new USB devices installed either.

  • ZEN MICROPHOTO connection problem, he

Hey guys, well my battery died so i recharge it. The computer did nothing for its charge. Anyways, i went to update the firmware that didn't work, now its stuck with nothing...
The computer recognizes the player when its plugged in only by the windows thing that pops up.
The creative software says the player is not connected.
Firmware update claims its not connected
The player is stuck in recovery mode, all options work but they do me no good.
When turned on it goes to the creative screen then normally it'll go to a MicroPhoto logo thing, now it just all scrambled pixels! I've had nothing but trouble with this thing and i have done nothing to it but plug it in the computer to charge and put new music on, seems like everytime the battery dies I fear the player will screw up. Anyone help me out, i use this all day at work and now i cant!

yeah beta is installed, what do you suggest doing?
Uninstall it. It will roll back to WMP 0. has a problem when it comes to updating firmware. Make sure you uninstall WMP and the WMP Runtime Format. It might be necessary to re install WMP 0 afterwards. If all fails do a System Restore to before WMP was installed.

  • Zen Microphoto 8gb probl

Ok hears whats wrong with my mp3 player and what i've tried to fix it with.(I will try to be as in depth as I can.
I just finished putting 2 new cd's on my creative, did the safe disconnect like my usual routeen. Disconnected the usb and set it down came back later (2-3 hours) to use it but realized when i turned it on it went directly into recovery mode but froze at the end of the RE in "Re-building Library" So I did what it said on the site and took the battery out and popped it back in went to re-building Library again and froze at the same spot. Did the take battery thing out more time and it went to the low battery sign and shut off I tryed charging it and it won't connect to my computer and won't charge so i tryed the barrtery thing (taking it out) 3 more times and it alternated from low battery to rebuilding library (freezing like usual RE)
I did recovery mode and cleaned up and rebooted (didn't work) tried 2 more times did nothing.
And now im hear Haven't dropped the mp3player once in its 8 month span taken good care of it and have it in a gell case just incase that faithful day comes when it does fall.
So It would be grand if some one could help me in this situation.

I would choose the format option.
Generally when the micro dri'ves fail you can hear a clicking noise from the player if you hold it relati'vely close to your ear.
Now on a similar note... I just recently formatted my Zen Micro and I've had NOTHING but problems since. It won't shutdown, it rebuilds every time I turn it on... sigh...
    Good luck,
    Merrell

  • Zen micro connections probl

We just changed our OS from xp home to xp professional because our technican said that our xp home doesnt support usb 2.0 When it was done I got the zen micro cd and installed meciasource, drivers, zen micro explorer and wmp 0. Our PC has 4 usb ports, 2 front 2 back. When I tried connecting my micro to the first front port it wasnt recognized and my micro locked up. I had to remove the battery to get it going again. Then I tried the other front port and it worked.
Then after a few days I connected my micro and the usual box that pops out from the system tray pops out that its connected. However in mediasource it says player not connected. I tried restarting my PC but it didnt work. So I did a disk cleanup on my micro and it was recognized by mediasource. But after transfering the first two songs it timed out on the next couple of songs. Then it transferred some songs. When it was done my player wasnt recognized by mediasource. I tried the two back ports but only one is working. The other one has the same problem as stated above.
Can anyone help me fix this? Its such a hassle to use the back port every time coz I have to move some things around the PC to acces the back ports. All usb ports are working with our digital camera. Im also afraid that waht happened to the front port that was working previously would happen to the back port and then I cant transfer any songs anymore.

    miguel wrote:
The front ports worked with the micro for a while after installing xp pro. And it was usb 2.0. On our xp home that is always updated the front ports were only usb .. So this means that our front ports are usb 2.0 right?
The de facto way to check is (a) to ensure you have XP SP, and that you've double checked in Device Manager that the chipset has automatically upgraded to USB2 (it doesn't always happen) and (b) to connect a high speed device to the port.
Our digicam and cellphone all connect on the front ports in usb 2.0 Only the micro doesnt work the front ports.
I've just written this in another post, that not all USB chipsets are made equal. Cheaper chipsets no doubt aren't fully tested or they don't comply with the full USB standard. Creative have assured that their players and drivers are completely compliant with the USB standard. BUT it could be some other bug comes into play, either with the Creative driver or the chipset and drivers. Hard to say. I've seen similar problems with iPods.
I think our usb came with the motherboard. I dont remember any pci cards. I think our mobo is intel D865GBV but im not really sure. Is there a way to know what our motherboard is?
You can use a product like Belarc Adviser, which will check the hardware contents of the PC.

  • Zen V connection probl

I have reinstalled my windows Xp, and since then I have had several problems:
From all the software available from the creative web page (since I don't have the cd) I was able to install only the "Zen cast Organizer". When I wanted to install the rest of the software, it appears a message stating "Setup is unable to detect a supported product on the system", or a similar message. I had a similar problem when I wanted to upgrade the firmware, or when I wanted to transfer files to the player using the Zen Cast Organizer.
I have already changed the usb cable from my camera, tried to use a different usb port, and reset the mp3 player. My windows xp has service pack 2 with the las version of directx, and the bios of the computer is also updated.
The only thing I can do is to transfer files to the removable disk since, it seems, it is the only thing windows detects when I connect the mp3 player.

I have problem like you. First I install the programs from Installation CD, follow instruction and connect with Zen V plus. My computer find a new hardware but can not detect that it was a Zen. So I use control panel to find a new hardware....... It has showed this massage "Cannot install this hardware. There was a problem installing this hardware: MTP device. An error occurred during the installation of the device. The required section was not found in the INF". What should I do...Please Help me. I use Window XP SP2 and I have already read online problems (like use front or back usb, re-install a hard ware, unplug all usb and connect only zen's usb) but?they do not work.
